A flash of purple zoomed into the work area, flying over heads and cubicle walls and coming to a hault in the center of the room. What news had this official looking memo brought for the Ministery workers?

Elinor had been in her cubicle all day, not making any noise at all. Her quill scratched along a few lines of paperwork, which were then stowed away neatly. Yes, she was working diligently, but every few moments, she glanced at an open pocketwatch she had set on her desk.

The dark rings under her sleepless eyes were darker than usual, although she had done her best to delicately apply makeup to them, which helped a bit. She was shaking slightly, defanitely nervous, so much so that she didn't trust herself to wear heels today, but instead her treadless flat boots, which left no distinguishable footprint. Her dress was black and reaching her knees, but her coat, hanging on her coathook, was white with red trim around the neck, cuffs, belt, and buttons.

Today was the day. Today was the day. Today. Was. The. Day.

She took a sip of ice cold tea, and returned to her routine. She waited for the clock to read 1:45. Then she began to worry her watch was not right, but she knew it was, because there was a spell on it to keep it right. Then she started to worry she'd be too late. Should she just leave? No. No, she'd have to wait.

Continually looking at the watch, Elinor's heart skipped a beat. It was 1:44. She jumped out of her chair, grabbing her coat and a briefcase. She scribbled "AT LUNCH, BE BACK AT 2:20" on a sticky note and slapped it on the doorway of her cubicle. Quickly--but not too quickly--she scurried from the work areas.

This was it.

He only had a moment before he had to return to work, only a moment to shove some food down his throat, and had quickly decided that the moment needed to be spent at work, ironic that.

Half a sub peeked out of the old work robes he was wearing, a coffee mug in his hand as he strolled into the work area to finish up a bit of paper work. The first thing to catch his eye was the memo floating in the center of the area, almost causing him to trip over a passing kneazle. Regaining his balance, he gave the notice a quick scan before frowning and rereading it again.

Borr was the new Junior Undersecretary? Nikolaos had a vague memory of the man, only rumors he'd heard from his school mates, having never met the man in person. But nothing of what he'd heard was anything good. Running a hand through his dark hair, he read the notice once more before going to his desk to do some paper work and eat lunch all at once.

Borr. Really? Were they serious? Drago really didn't like the man, and thought he'd have been better off poisoned by his own students. But he didn't have much say in the matter, so all he could do was grumble about it and begrudgingly accept it. Drago walked away from the memo with a none-too-pleasant look on his face, as though he were ready to face Azkaban for... something as equally unpleasant.

That would have to wait til he was off to his next assignment. Waving off the notice, the lanky man stayed hunched over his desk, fiddling with an old tombstone radio. The plugless device emitted an ear piercing sound, like a screaming cat raking it's nails across a chalkboard. Twisting the dials this way and that, he managed to pick up some music. With his face contorting in horror, Warren returned to the wailing sound, listening intently.

"Hard to find good radio anymore." Propping his chin up with his hands, the man in the tall hat appeared oblivious to the idea that his radio might be a nuisance.

Apparently there was gonna be more than one distraction in the work areas today. Wincing at the sound of the radio, his eyes moved towards the direction of the sound, settling on the hatted ma with a faint frown. "Probably a reason for that." Like music didn't need to be played in the work area. He flicked his eyes to the radio, lingering for a moment before going back to his file.

"He was working at Hogwarts the same time I was," Drago muttered. "Back when I was known as Armand Erikson. I couldn't stand the man. Maybe I'll poison him myself this time."

He changed his name? Nikolaos hadn't known about that, but then again, he was never in the work areas long enough to get to know anyone. Shame that. A mixture of amusement and confusing laced his features as he filled out the paper work, pausing for a passing kneazle. "Well kids aren't skilled in carrying out such tasks." He muttered absently. "Not sure how successful you'll be with all the security here either."

"Might I ask what it is that's so bad about the man?" Nikos hadn't had the pleasure, if that's what it could be called, of meeting the man, and therefore knew nothing about him.

Told me I should cut my hair, as though that decision were up to him. Didn't treat the students well at all. Tried to run things as if he owned the place, with no tolerance to what the students, and thus the school, actually needed. He was certainly no role model for the children. And of course, they didn't much like him either." There was a certain passion in his words, as though having worked at Hogwarts had been one of the best times of his life, and his life had honestly been about what was best for the students. For a brief time, of course, it had been. Until She came along, and stole that all from him. "It was only one year, but it was an insufferable one."

"Hmm." Was his only response at first, his attention on the man as he absently ran a hand through his hair, tugging at the new growth . It wasn't as long as he usually kept it, but it certainly was getting there. "Defiantly not a fan of anyone telling me what to do with my hair." He eased back in his seat, mussing his hair up before sliding his hands into his pockets. "Doesn't sound like a fellow I'd like to be around." He shrugged his shoulders. "Least he's not our department head."

Chuckling softly, he shook his head. Sure, Drago was being sarcastic, but he knew the man would have been more than heated if Borr had become their department head. Or Drago's he should say.

"I believe those wishes will be coming true," he responded lightly. The man finished up the last bit of his paperwork before giving the other man his undivided attention. "My previous employer has offered me a job that I'm taking." Working with the creatures he loved most again at a higher position, and better pay. How could he refuse? "Just taking a few weeks finishing up a few things before I head off."

Nikos smiled and inclined his head just the slightest in response. "Thank you." He was certainly excited about returning to his job, even if it didn't quite show. "I wish you the best of luck with the new department." And he understood the not wanting to speak much about his new job. This was the first time he'd spoken to anyone about his job.

Erica had been stood in the corner of the room for a while now, watching her employees and going completely unnoticed. The Department Head was not the least bit happy that she may be loosing a few of her employees but the fact very little had actually chosen to come speak to her had made her most unhappy. Still this party for the new undersecetary seemed exciting and whether they were her employees or not, she wanted to see them there.

"I expect to see you all in attendance for Mr Borr's little celebration in Diagon Alley" she informed them, raising and eyebrow. As employees of the Ministry, even if it wasn't for much longer, the least they could do were obey her orders. This went to everyone however. "Though a few of you may be asked to do a few jobs here and there. Ive been informed that many people are welcoming him by working" *Smirk* Yeah she wouldnt be doing that. "I look forward to seeing you there, believe me, its going to be incredibly entertaining for everyone in attendance." That was all.

Drago snarled a bit at the thought of being dragged to anything involving Borr, but if the Head said so, then he had to. Even thought he wanted to strangle the man with his own entrails and force-feed him his own... He took a deep breath to calm himself, and instead thought about various poisons which wouldn't cause much harm.

"Jobs?" A single eyebrow in question. Somehow, that just didn't seem like something he would want to be apart of. The only jobs he ever had were the ones that involved creatures, and he was pretty sure that the party wouldn't be having dangerous creatures. Not unless this Borr really was as crazy as the rumors he was hearing.

Drago glanced to Nikos. "I have several ways of escaping, and spells that would keep anyone from ever finding us. Then we can get to this encampment where we can claim asylum. I've got a job there, and I'm certain they can give you one. Far away from Lord Borr."

Elinor showed up bright and early to work, starting her spring cleaning a bit early. Her cubicle was a total mess, but that was going to change. Well--it was an organized mess, but any Junior Undersecretaries walking by would flip.

She wore long black pants and a white button-up shirt with 3/4th sleeves, over which was a black waistcoat. On her feet were a pair of low-heel black boots. She carried in her right hand a slim black briefcase. Elinor's red-brown hair was combed neatly behind her shoulders, slightly windswept. Her emerald eyes did not, for the first time in a long time, reflect a single sleepless night. Instead, they were bright. Happy, even.

Upon reaching her cubicle, she stood in the tiny doorway a moment, surveying her workspace. She set down the briefcase under the desk, out of the way, and decided to start with the filing cabinet. Pulling open the bottom drawer, she had to make three trips to heave out it's contents in piled on the floor (The desk, of course, was cluttered--but she'd get to it). She began by deciding to do some weeding-- Any paperwork that hadn't been needed for five years would be sent down to the archives. She sighed. There had to be a few hundred papers in the bottom drawer alone.

But she was up to the task. Soon she was kneeling on the floor, sorting the files by date, then by file number, then sorting them into two piles--ones she would keep, and ones to be sent to the records and archives office. She had tied her hair back and had a pencil clasped between her teeth, which she frequently used to sign the files she was sending to the archives.

It took her a half an hour to do the bottom drawer, but only twenty for the next one up. Then it took her fifteen for the next one up, and by the time she reached the top drawer, she was on such a roll, she did it in twelve minutes. Turning her chair, she stood and flopped down in it, looking at the pile of old files. Actually, it was two piles now that, combined, would be about three feet high.

Turning to her desk, she eyed her in box. There was a small pile an inch thick. But she resolved to wait until she had at least cleared off her desk. So, sliding the pencil behind her ear, she went to work. There were a few old memos there which were trash, some were notes to herself, a few memos from other areas of the Ministry. It looked messier than it really was. But in about five minutes, the desktop was decent. She even realized she had a desktop calendar that was four months out of date. Tearing off the four top pages, she reached "MARCH" and threw the others away.

Now, with the exception of the desk drawers, and having to send the other files to the archives, she was finished. Phew.

Katalin was sitting at her desk, the pictures of her family was surrounded by papers. She sighed and decided that she should start on her paperwork before it starts to swamp her.
