A couple blocks from the Ministry there is a neighborhood park. It has swings and a Merry-Go-Round, lots of trees for shade and several picnic tables. There is a fountain in the middle where the children can splash and sail their little boats.

A great place to meet the family for lunch, but be careful…there are Muggles here, too.

'Some people just have bad luck fall to zem.' Apha never believed that certain people attracted it; it was always someone was in the wrong place or had it fall to them. She knew - well, okay, hoped - that they'd be able to shake it off. Nicoli in particular.

'A staff night out?' she repeated. Well, it would be a great way to get to know the others better, outside of the work environment, whenever this night out happened. 'Sounds good. And I zink we could persuade Nicoli to come.' By the sounds of how busy Nicoli had been, she knew he'd be needing a break sooner or later.

Laughing softly, Apha nodded. 'Yes. You do.' She was somewhat surprised he'd remembered it. Any others she'd ever said it to had forgotten she'd said in within five minutes.

He nodded in agreement, but couldn’t help but think it was other people rather than luck. “I think Forrester means well. But I think he’s a bit too forward in the help he offers to Nicoli.” It seemed pushy… like the older man wanted to take over. “But he’s an experienced Auror. I’m sure he knows what he’s doing.”

Nathan grinned. “Yes, love. I think we all deserve it. The Raven’s Claw is not too far from here. It gets quite lively in there after work.”

Forrester . . . For a moment, Apha struggled to remember who that was, but then it came to her that Forrester was the person who had been talking to Nicoli from the other division. 'He did seem forward,' she agreed. 'But experienced Aurors are like zat sometimes.' She shrugged casually about it. Nicoli would be able to handle it.

A second lapse in memory caused her to go silent for a moment until she remembered what The Raven's Claw was. 'Ze pub, right?' she asked as if to confirm. 'Sounds ideal for a night out.' So long as they have non-alcoholic beverages. Apha didn't bother adding that onto the end of her comment, though.

He smiled. Apha was very diplomatic. He knew for a fact that she would be a good addition to the MLES team. “Very true. From the little experience I had with them, I know it’s a job I could never do.” Facing life or death situations all the time… and all the running around. Nathan could never handle it. “I think they’re allowed to be like that, considering what they have to do everyday.”

“That’s right.” He replied. “We all deserve a drink after the day we’ve had.”

Nodding, she bit her lip. Aurors did have a hard load, with the situations and cases they were given to handle. Apha knew it was a job she'd never manage, and frankly, she didn't even want to try it. The amount of Auror's she'd heard complain were above what she'd expected. 'Zey have a lot of guts.'

Apha frowned for a moment, before perking up. 'If you want, I could pay. I have nto done ze work yet - and I would nto do as much as you have already, would I? You all deserve a break,' she offered, knowing she had more than enough somewhere in her purse.

Siobhan blushed a violent shade of red as Edward told her his true feelings. She smiled sheepishly and replied, "I like you too Edward. I've been wanting to say that for awhile now even though we've known each other for such a short time. And don't worry, my hurting people business is all in the past and hopefully it'll never affect my future."

Apha frowned as Nathan looked down at himself, casting an eye over it herself. It didn't look too bad to her. She'd seen people dressed in far scruffier clothes. 'Are you sure?' she asked about the offer to pay, smirking as he smiled sheepishly. She'd seen plenty of people with similar expressions when she'd mentioned paying. It wasn't because she felt they needed the help - far from it! She offered to pay only because of the money her housemates parent's kept giving them.

He nodded, “I'm certain.” He gave her a smile. He didn’t want her to feel bad. “But we can do rounds if you want.” He suggested, hoping this would maker her feel better about it - then they would all get to buy each other a drink. He didn’t expect Apha to pay for every thing all night… it just seemed wrong.

He sat back, trying to relax a little more before they had to go back to work. “You mentioned you lived with housemates?” He said conversationally. “How many of there are you living together?”

Apha nodded. It seemed like the best offer she'd get in terms of paying, so she readily agreed to it. 'Deal,' she said, smiling again, knowing she wouldn't have minded being the only buyer all night.

At the mention of her housemates, she rolled her eyes. 'Yes. Zere are four of us. Susanna and Chloé, who are around my age, and Cully, who is . . . nearly fifteen,' she said, mentally calculating the few days remaining until Cully's birthday. 'How about you? Is zere anyone you live wiz?'

He looked up at her and smiled at she said ‘deal.’ He extended his had for her to shake as if to seal the deal. “Deal it is.” He replied.

“Four of you? I bet that’s a fun place to live.” He smirked slightly. Or perhaps ‘scary’ would be a better description than ‘fun.’ “I’ve just moved in with my girlfriend.” He replied. “She works in the Ministry too… in the Wizengamot.”

She chuckled when he put his hand out, but shook it nonetheless, before dropping her hand back to her lap.

'Interesting,' she said, about it being "fun" where she lived. It was certainly interesting, with people coming and going all the time. She noticed his slight smirk and raised an eyebrow. 'Your girlfriend? Is she ze person who came in earlier?' she asked, remembering the woman who'd come in just after Amelia. She then blushed, mentally scolding herself for asking so many questions, looking away from him.

Edward listened as she told him she liked him to. It was nice to hear. His last girlfriend wasn't really willing to express her feelings much.

"Well, I'm sure that it is. You just don't strike me as the kind to be mean." He thought it best to shift away from a painful conversation and asked. "So, what is your flat like?"

Apha glanced at him, noting the grin on his face and being unable to keep a silent giggle down. It eased up sharply as he asked her about her dating status, and she straightened up, looking straight ahead. 'No,' she replied, slightly sharply - it was a touchy subject for her. Her left hand cupped her neck. 'Not for a long time,' she added, slightly softer and quieter.

Siobhan was glad for the shift in conversation and replied, " It fair enough for a person who spends most of her life buried in work, and doesn't get paid a lot for it. How 'bout yourself,love?" she replied with a smile.

He looked up at her as she giggled and he smiled. Nathan must look like a right divvy grinning like a cheshire cat for no apparent reason all the time. The smile soon vanished, however, as he seemed to have hit a sore spot on this particular subject. “Sorry, love. Didn’t mean to pry.” He said quietly. He scratched the back of his head uncomfortably like he so often did and looked down at his feet. “Just tell me to shut up if I'm being too nosey... I really don’t mind” he smirked and looked back at Apha.

Swallowing hard, Apha turned her head to look at him with her green eyes, cursing herself. 'It - it's fine,' she said, dropping her hand and pulling her hair to twist around her finger. 'It's just . . . hard.' The hardest thing for Apha to talk about. 'You're not being too nosey.'

Looking away again, she sighed. She didn't mind talking about relationships and helping people with theirs - it was just she didn't like talking about her own. She looked back at Nathan again. 'I'm sorry,' she apologised, relaxing her stiff position.

He frowned, mentally kicking himself. He hadn’t meant to stir up this in Apha - he had unintentionally upset her. Nathan knew himself exactly what it was like to have your heart broken. It was only since he met Egypt that he had finally got over his ex. “Sorry.” He said again. “If you ever need to talk….” He told her. Nathan was a good listener. He didn’t mind people crying on his shoulder – he considered Apha a friend. He supposed that’s what friends were for, right?

“Don’t apologise, love.” He told her. There was really no need. He looked back at her and gave her a reassuring smile as she appeared to be relaxing again.

She could feel it again; the self-loathing for not wanting to let others know her past. She shook her head at Nathan. 'It's not your fault.' He wasn't to know. She normally didn't react so strangely, but then again, she normally had her guard up when talking about other's relationships, knowing the conversation could well turn to her own.

She glanced at him, and half-smiled, shaking her head. She didn't need to talk right now, but if she ever did at work - well, now she knew she had someone she could turn to.

Shaking her head again as he told her not to apologise, she looked away. She felt like she had to - it was her fault she'd reacted the way she had. 'I normally react in a better way zan zat,' she explained, about her apology. Feeling a change of subject was in order, she turned back to him.

'Any good restaurants around here you know?' she asked, curious.

He thought it best not to speak of it again. He could tell she was hurting, he didn’t want to make her feel any worse.

He smiled at the swift change of subject. Very subtle indeed. Not. “Restaurants?” Nathan didn’t eat out much, if you didn’t count the local greasy spoon caff, because, frankly, he couldn’t afford to. “There’s a KFC over that way.” He pointed. “And they do meals in the Raven’s Claw.” He was still yet to sample them but they were said to be surprisingly good for such a dark and dingy, run down looking pub.

She glanced over her shoulder to Ivan, making sure he was prepared, and then to Anita, making sure she'd thought she pulled off the whole schpeal.

As if they'd been caught with their dirty hands in the cookie jar, Bridgette and Lucille immediately stopped plucking at the bristles of the broom when Amanda approached them. Almost in synch, the two girls put their hands behind their back and looked towards the woman as she spoke to them about her lost little sister. Bridgette, the eldest girl was about to offer Amanda her own little sister to replace the one she'd lost, but then the strangers interest shifted from a lost relative to the broom. Their broom. Or at least, that's what Bridgette was considedring it. Finders keepers 'n all that. The elder sister placed both hands on the broom handle, possessively. Meanwhile the younger sister backed ever-so slightly away from the broom in a welcoming gesture.

"No.", replied the elder girl as the younger girl simultaneously said, "Alright.".

Bridgette gave a sharp glance at Lucille and made a face. She then turned to Amanda and spoke up again, neverminding the constant advice to not speak to strangers. "Well, alright. I guess you could have a look at it if you want to...but, it doesn't move. It just stands there." She said explaining their dilemna, and hoping that the adult would possess the strength to loosen the broom so that they could take it home.

Apha mouthed a silent Thank you, in his direction, before looking in the direction he pointed, not concentrating a hundred percent, but enough so she knew what he was saying and understood it. KFC? Well, Cor's sorted, she thought, giggling slightly at the mere thought of the sometimes-guest gorging out like she normally did.

'Ze pub does meals?' she asked, slightly surprised. She'd cast a quick glance in on her way this morning; it hadn't really looked like it would do meals, or anything other than drinks. 'Have you tried zem out yet?' If they were good, then Apha might well drop in for a meal there once or twice if she couldn't be bothered to get something from home.

Nathan gave Apha a warm smile in return for the mouthed ‘thank you’. He heard the slight giggle and chuckled himself. Maybe KFC wasn’t quite what she’d had in mind. Apha seemed a classy bird, not exactly the type to spend her time in fast food restaurants. He didn’t know what else to suggest – he hadn’t visited many of the millions of restaurants the streets of London had to offer. There was a Pizza Hut near by – but that may receive a laugh just as KFC had, so he thought it best not to mention it. Nathan really needed to change his eating habits if he wanted to father twenty kids and live to a ripe old age. If it wasn't his diet, the drink was going to take him before then.

“It does. Proper home cooked stuff.” He replied. “No, I’ve only sampled the ale and firewhiskey in there. But the food always smells nice enough.” He stomach rumbled at all this talk of food – he hadn’t eaten since breakfast and he had only had fruit, thanks to Egypt’s positive healthy influence - but fruit just didn't stay with you in the same way a nice bacon butty did. “Do you and your housemates go out into London much?” he asked. The nightlife in London had been hard to rival when he went travelling. Edinburgh was always better – the Scots really knew how to have a good old knees up. And firewhiskey tasted far better in the city in which it was distilled - he never knew why that was.

Anita could see the Muggle children. It seemed that the elder girl didn't want Amanda to look at the broom. The younger girl on the other hand seem to think it was any problem for Amanda to have a look.

Anita waited nervously to see how the events would unfold.
