Department Head's Office Head Office Department of International Magical Cooperation Evaline Jane Bass |
"No no no. That law was disputed years ago and I'm pretty sure it was taken care of by some boy." Evaline replied into the phone as she swung around in her chair to face the front and flipped open a file. Putting the phone on her shoulder so she could hold it and still hear while writing and reading. Multi-tasking seem to be a key thing to learn with this job Evaline learned. Taking her pen and putting the end near her mouth, she read through the file she was dicussing with the country across the way. France to be exact. Finding the person she was looking for she spoke into the phone, her scottish accent very noticable. "Percy Weasley is the name. It says here he wrote a report on the cauldron and it not being thick enough and there was going to be something done about it." Listening to the diplomat on the other end, Evaline kept reading and shook her head. So many problems. Hearing the diplomat, she replied in a hurry, "Well then. It is not my fault the earlier Head of Department did not clear it up. Don't worry, I'll look into it and get back to you. Good day." and hung up the phone. Right one problem already and we only started work 2 minutes ago. She began writing her memo about the cauldron and the notes she got from her conversation. |
Although this was not Micah's Department, he'd be very useful to it. He knocked on the department head's office of level 5. |
Evaline was writing on a piece of parchment about the work needed to be done on the cauldron situation. Wy didn't the bloody head from last time check this. I guess thats why I got this position... Her thoughts were interupted by a knock on the door. Who can this be? Continuing her writing and notes she replied, "Come in." She wondered what problem or accident that this person had to tell her. There was always something. Something wrong. Something going on. Something to keep work busy and interesting. |
Micah smiled and opened the door. He walked in and stood in his position. "Ms. Bass, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Micah Nettings. I work as the Division head of the Apparition Test Center up at level 6. I came here because my department head indirectly recommended me to your department if you ever need help related to magical transportation within different countries." he explained, hoping he wasn't distracting her. "I'm fluent in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese." |

After finish writing that, she said, "It may be in a few seconds the way this department runs or in months, but none-the-less I'll let you know if I need your assistance." She hoped this was good enough for the boy. New employees were always so eager to get on. She remembered her first day. |
Noting that the office was still usunually quiet, Enrico decided he might as well get one introduction over with and pay a visit to his boss. His new boss. He wandered up down the corridor, past a silent breakroom, and came to the last door in the hallway. Evaline Bass, that was her name, and Rico said it softly to himself before rapping on the door. |
Micah nodded. "Well I must get going...A lot of people wanting licenses...good bye." He smiled he left the office. He nodded curtly at another ministry employee and passed him. |

"Come in" she called to the person and then looked at Micah. Quote:

Enrico nodded to the guy heading out of the office, although he had no idea who he was, and went on in. Immediately, upon stepping one foot in the room, Rico was almost blinded by the sea of green....stuff...and photos and things. He blinked for a second, confused by everything labeled "Slytherin," and then approached Ms. Bass' desk where the beautiful woman was seated. "Hello, Ms. Bass, I just wanted to introduce myself formally," Rico said, his American accent evident. He smiled warmly and extended a muscular hand across her oak desk. "I'm Rico Serio, your Trading Standards division head." |

She smiled and waved him to a chair. "Have a seat and we'll have a little chat just as soon as I send this memo." she replied and pulled out a peice of parchment. She took her quill and wrote: Quote:

"Where were we....good question," he raised an eyebrow as the little paper airplane whisked out the door. Intriguing...the little things could fly! "That's...that's your messaging system here?" Rico was clearly impressed. "I like it," he added with a grin and a twinkle in his eye. |
Quote:
She nodded as the memo's flying noise faded and then she added, "Yes it is brilliant. We don't have to leave and its mess free. I believe they use to use owls. Obviously that was messy." and thought about the many ways it could be. She stopped not wanting to think about it anymore. She guessed it was time to get to know her staff. "So tell me a little about yourelf. The applications are so brief and only say so much." she said to Rico. |

Rico nodded at her answer about the flying airplanes and made a mental note to send a letter back home about them, as his old friend Art would be most interested in them. He turned his attention back to Evaline and pondered how to reply to her latest query. "Well. Me." Enrico cleared his throat briefly and wondered where to begin....or how much to say. "I'm uh, 26, grew up in America, worked for the American Ministry, and just recently moved here. To London." He nodded. That would be sufficient, perhaps. "And I speak Spanish, English, and broken Italian, if that's any help too," he added as an afterthought. |
Quote:
Wow three languages. Geesh. I feel so under gifted. She nodded and wrote that down. "That's brilliant," she said with her scottish accent flowing a bit at her enthuesiasm. "And it does help, the more you can communicate the better you are to the department. And that doesn't just mean speaking different languages." she added to clarify. |
Quote:
And plus, the topic of his home country caused him to sit up a little straighter and his dark eyes lit up. "You worked in America, you say?" He couldn't keep that cheesy smile of his face. "Where? When?" he added eagerly, before realizing that this could be considered rude. 'Cool your jets, suave,' he told himself. "I don't mean to pry, of course," Enrico recovered, "but I noticed your Scottish accent and just assumed you'd worked here for most of your life." He shrugged like it was no big deal. |
Quote:
She continued with, "Well I was born in Scotland, of course, moved to england and went to Hogwarts." she started off. Nice and easy this was. "And then I got an intership at Salem Academy about oh 7 years ago was it, and worked there until I came here. I've been here for a little over a year I believe." she added. Wow that was easy and now its over with. Phew. |

Evaline nodded in agreement. "It is superb and I'm so happy I worked there." She was a little surprised at the next question, but ignored her thought to stop and kept going. At least he did seem interested and was not just making idle chit chat to be polite. Or was he? Stop thinking bad thoughts. Ruins the mind. "Well I was an intern to the COMC teacher for the summer right after I graduated. They liked me so much they kept me on as an assitant. Basically I was like a groundskeeper except I looked over the animals. Did that for 2 years and then the COMC teacher retired and I took over and was the teacher for 5 years." she finished and took a deep breath. That was a lot to give. |
Quote:
And speaking of impressions, whoa was she knowledgeable! "You were a teacher?" Rico's eyebrows were raised, clearly showing his amazement. So she knows all about magical creatures in addition to dabbling in foreign affairs.... "That's quite an accomplishment, if you don't mind me saying so, especially for someone so young. What made you come back here?" |
Quote:
Evaline nodded and replied back proud of her teaching job, "Yes I was. My first career choice was being a COMC teacher and I was luckly enough to achieve that goal." She then smiled and smirked. "No, your fine. It's not a deep dark secret. After sufficently achieving my goal, I was getting a little home sick and also wanted to do a little bit more with my life. I always liked traveling and working with foriegn countries and I'd had some experience with the Tri Wizard tournament at Salem while I was there. I saw this job and applied and wound up getting it." she blabbed. She sure did talk a lot. |
A pink broomstick shaped memo zoomed into the office intended by Lorraine within a few moments. It landed neatly on the desk and unfolded in front of the young woman: Quote:

A tri-wizard tournament at Salem? Why didn't I hear about that? Rico felt really ignorant now, and unprepared for this job, especially to compared to the successes this woman had already achieved. "Well, that is interesting," he winked at her. "I have noth--" he was about to add something else when a little pink...was that a broom?...whizzed by his head and nearly clipped his ear. Surprised, Enrico blinked and glanced down at Evaline's desk. Oh, it's a memo! he thought with a grin. I'm going to have to get used to those things... "It looks like you have mail," Rico quipped, gesturing towards the note. "Perhaps I should leave?" He realized suddenly that his division was deserted and they had been talking for a while, not that Evaline wasn't a good conversationist....he could've chatted with her all day. |

Evaline shook her head. She had not heard of it. She must go to the library and look it up. "No I haven't, but that is cool. I must go check out more on it." she replied to him politely. He was very nice. She was going to be able to get along easiley with him. She smiled as he said it was interesting. It was interesting. The Tri Wizard Tournament had been the best experience she had in a long time. She was waiting for him to say something else but he was stopped in mid sentence by a memo. "One minute." she said and opened it up. It was from Lorriane about lunch in the cafe. She smiled and folded the memo up and threw it in the trash. She heard him say he better to get to work. Yes that was a good idea. "Great idea. Work must be done right. It was a pleasure to meet you." she said to him and smiled as she walked around her desk and opened the door for him. "I'll see you around then." she added. |
