So, Hogwarts cuuuties Victoria Bunbury and Paulie Foster have kept their promise to Tori's BFF Taryn Hayden. And WHAT was the nature of this promise? Two words: blind date. With THE August Goldstein.
Summer was now in full swing, so what better time for a date?! Paulie and Tori had arranged for everyone to meet up at a cool, little casual restaurant with a big outdoor seating area, AND waiters and waitresses who rollerskated to the customers' tables. Yes, it was quite a find, this place.
Characters:
Paulie Foster - Cedric
Victoria Bunbury - BanaBatGirl
Taryn Hayden - Colley♥
August Goldstein - DanialRadFan01
-------------------------------
After flooing to their set destination, Paulie looked ahead, and his eyesight landed right smack dab on one of the talented rollerskaters bringing some whipped cream-topped milkshakes out to some customers. He was definitely getting a milkshake. They certainly didn't skimp on the whipped cream!
He finally swiveled his head from side to side, but there was no sign of anyone else yet. Hence, he randomly picked out one of the vacant tables and plopped down beneath the shade of the umbrella. The shade was very welcomed 'cause it was hooooooooot.

"Sure, I guess I like 'em just the same as witches and wizards.." He wasn't really sure how else to respond to that.
Mr. Bunbury went on to tell him about how he had gotten to play the stunt double in an air force movie, so he got to hang out with actual fight planes and stuff. Gosh, LUCKY. This guy had armor and swords galore AND worked around jets and fighter planes. "Oh man, that's so cool!" The nerves were wearing off as Paulie eased into fun topics like this. "What movie was it?"
Then Tori piped up and he spotted her maneuver around her father to grin at him. This triggered an immediate grin from him, too, and his thoughts went waaaaaay back to that carnival where they met.
"Yes and no," Paulie answered Arnold Bunbury, who was STILL calling him Paul. "I saved her, but not with magic. I, er.." heheh. Was this even considered a rescue by anyone other than Fostbury..? "I took the brunt of an exploding lemonade for her. Then I saved her from some freaks in an inflatable bounce castle." Awwww, such good times!
So he wasn't prejudiced. Well all right, that was a tiny +1 in Arnie's book. Paulie might have gotten a bonus +1 for acting impressed upon hearing Arnie's résumé. He tried to act like he wasn't secretly pleased but he did grin and shrug a bit.
"It was sort of a re-make/sequel to this old, old film from the 1980s... the one I was in was called 'Maverick.'" Arnold even swept one of his hands out like he was drawing the name of his picture in the air. "I even helped produce it. I'll bet you've never heard of it, but I've got a lot of copies if you wanna borrow one some time..."
"Daaaaad," Tori pouted, sidestepping her distracted father, "Paulie doesn't want to hear ALL your movie stories now. Save some for lunch, k?" She sneaked over to her boyfriend's side and stole a side-hug from him, looking up at him with more or less utter adoration.
"Ohh.... right." Arnold blinked, suddenly realizing how much he sounded like his old man, going on about silly stories to the youth. "Right then. Your ah, your service in 'saving' my daughter," he was still doubtful about that bit, "is much appreciated, Paul." He stuck out his arm and gave the lad a man-slap on the shoulder. "I'll leave you two to see the rest of the estate."
He eyed his daughter sternly. "No bedroom, Tori. I locked it. With my wand." Which was in his ankle holster, so there was no way she was getting to it. "See you at lunch, Paul." As if there was any question that the boy was leaving before then! Ha! He sure wasn't done interrogating the kid yet.
Breathing a tiny sigh of relief as her dad FINALLY left them alone, Tori picked up Paulie's hand again and gave it a squeeze. "Well," she said cheerfully, "I think he likes you!"

Paulie watched as the man pasted an imaginary 'Maverick' into the air. Man, even the TITLE sounded cool. "Yeah! Please," he answered readily, when her dad offered him a copy of the film to borrow. "If you've got copies to spare." Which... he did.
He grinned when Tori stepped around her dad and finally sidled up beside him again. His arm snaked behind her back and he gave her a squeeze. His 'service in saving his daughter'? heheh. Well, Tori certainly made Paulie look good! Just as Mr. Bunbury was about to leave them to themselves again, he added that her bedroom was no longer an option. Awwwwww, shucks!
But, overall..... that whole meet-the-father thing wasn't all that bad. "Ya think?" Paulie responded with a hopeful grin. "Phew. Good, 'cause I was real nervous about it ever since you got that letter last summer." Like, he wondered whether he would come out ALIVE. He echoed Tori's sigh of relief, then smiled some as he pressed a kiss into her forehead.

Tori snuggled into Paulie and reached up on her tippy toes to give him a REAL kiss, now that her dad wasn't GLARING at them and all. "I couldn't even tell that you were nervous," she assured him. "He does have a temper though. And he can be real strict."
As he had demonstrated by, you know, sending her to a totally different school. JERK!!!!1!
"Maybe!" she answered him hopefully. "We'll have to ask him about it over lunch. You should bring it up." She nodded and took a step back from him, still holding on to his hand so that she could lead him out of the gallery.

Paulie smiled into her kiss and leaned his head down a tad to make things a little easier for her. "I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.." he thought aloud. Strict and temperamental? "Hmmmm, I'll try to stay on his good side."
Well, if Tori herself thought the idea of returning to Hogwarts was plausible, then Paulie sure got his hopes up. He secretly crossed his fingers with his free hand. "'Kay, I'll bring it up at lunch." As Tori led him back out of the gallery, his memory shot back to fifth year.
"This tour reminds me of when we toured Hogwarts together," he laughed.

Well good, because the last thing Tori wanted was for Paulie to have a bad experience visiting her house and then break up with her because of it. She finished kissing him and returned to her normal shorty!height. "That would be good," she giggled a little. "We Bunburys aren't all THAT bad, see!"
Lunch was sounding better and better! "Try to be as polite and mannerly as possible though, k?" She wrapped her arms around his and snuggled into him as they walked. "My stepmom's a real witch about manners." Evil, evil evil evil evil woman. Did Tori mention that she was evil?
"I remember that!" the redhead laughed, leading him down the hallway toward their giant library. "And remember how I told you I was having boyfriend auditions?" HEEEHE. That little fib had worked real well.

Paulie smiled and nodded. "And you're the best of the Bunburys!"
When Tori advised that he be as polite and mannerly as possible, he gave another nod. The Tori tips helped with her dad, so hopefully they would with her stepmom as well. "Got it. Play up the whole manners thing." Hopefully Step-mom wouldn't make herself a human wall between he and his princess! "So... what about your real mum?" He really only heard her complain about the evil step-mother, so he was curious about whether her birth mum was in the picture at all.
"YES," Paulie emphasized, when Tori brought up those boyfriend auditions of hers. "I believed that, ya know." He seemed to recall Tori telling him that he was the best kissing candidate, too. hehe. Although he hoped he was the only one she actually kissed. With a proud lift of the chin and a teasing smirk, he added, "I beat out August Goldstein, didn't I?"
Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB
D'awwwwwwwwwww. "I was HOPING you'd say that," Tori giggled, stretching up to reward Paulie with another kiss. Good boy! Now keep those comments coming!
"She's a model, too, so it might help if you compliment her. She's also kind of airy, I unno." She made a little 'meh' sound at his question about her mom and sighed. "My real mom's okay, but she's like, weird, you know? She's sort of like this hippy, living out in L.A.... I don't even think she has a real job." So obviously she liked her dad and his money better. "She kept my twin brother though."
And who needed brothers? Uccccky!
She giggled some more, bringing her free hand to her face to hide her snortles and chortles at Paulie's reaction. Oh the memories. "You were about the only one who did, silly." Hehe. Her Lemonade Knight. "You sure did!" August was NO competition for Paulie Foster! Speaking of their mutual friend, though....
"Did you know he's going to Beauxbatons next year?" Tori mentioned casually.

Paulie grinned widely, only stopping so that he could meet Tori's kiss.
"Your step-mom's a model?" Wowwwww. Tori really was pretty much royalty. Like, celebrity royalty or something. "I've never met a model, but I'll be sure to compliment her." He brainstormed one or two compliments that he thought he could use. 'You have very nice teeth,' maybe. Or 'You hair is like spun gold.' Well... supposing she had blonde hair. Paulie somehow pictured an 'airy' model to have blonde hair, and upon realizing this, he felt kinda bad that he was going along with that whole blonde stereotype. Actually, HE was dirty blond, so of course it wasn't true.
Weird. So, her step-mom was airy and her real mom was weird. Ohhhh, she was a hippy! Paulie nodded in understanding. "I heard it can be hard to get a job in LA," he offered. "So, like.. don't ya miss your twin brother?"
He smiled and looked over at Tori as she giggled at HIS expense. "Hey, you were pretty convincing!" And Paulie has totally bought it. GROCERY BAG. Wait.. did she say August was going to Beauxbatons this year, too? Paulie cocked his head to the side. "Why?" Second thought to his mind: "Does Taryn know?"
Poor Taryn. Paulie wouldn't wish stupid school separation on anyone.
Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB
Nodding as she pulled away from the kiss, Tori added helpfully (or maybe not?), "She also runs like, these charity organizations for homeless racehorses and makes plans to save retired kids." She tilted her head and mused over what she'd just said. "No wait, it's the other way around. She finds houses for homeless kids and rescues retired racehorses. Got it!!!!"
See how smart she was? Why WOULDN'T her dad want her to get a complete education at Hogwarts, HUH? Everything she needed to know she'd learned in her one year at that school anyway.
He was so nice, commenting about L.A. like he knew something about the place. So presh. Tori pat-patted his arm. "Nooooooope. Sander's just dumb. Any annoying. Half the time we lived together I called him 'der' instead of Aleksander because he's just that dumb." She rolled her eyes exaggeratedly. "But enough about me. What about YOU? Anything NEW?"
Any plans for post-graduation she should be worried about? Until her dad had brought it up, Tori hadn't even considered what Paulie was going to do after Hogwarts, after all...
Hehe. "I think his dad got a job there or around there." Meh, who wanted to talk about Auggie right now? OR Taryn, for that matter. "She knows.... nowwwww," Tori almost giggled again, but didn't. "She wasn't too happy about it."
Maybe she and Paulie could form a long-distance-relationship support group or something next year.

Paulie nodded along as Tori began telling him about what her mum did. His forehead wrinkled in confusion, though, at the part about saving retired kids. Retired kids? Oh, she'd gotten the two mixed up. He smiled and nodded again. "She sounds nice." Or, at least she did nice things.
Sander? Hm, that must have been her brother. hehe. He did like her nickname for the kid, though. Very appropriate for a sibling, eh? "Did he give you any nicknames? Did ya make him call you 'Princess,' too?" Somehow, Paulie had a feeling that Aleksander wouldn't be too keen on addressing his sister as royalty. The twins did have pretty majestic names, though: Victoria and Aleksander.
When she asked him whether there was anything new with him, he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and searched the ceiling for an answer. Hmmh. "Not really. Oh! There is one thing, actually, and you will never believe it." He laughed. "I got Head Boy!" Yes, he'd only just received the news, and Tori was the first to know (after his mum). How CRAZY was that?!
Well, he supposed that it made sense for August to go to Beauxbatons if his dad got a job there or whatever. It still sucked for Taryn, though. And August, of course. "I bet she wasn't." It was out of August's hands, though, like it hand been with Tori. "So, they're still gonna date, then?"
Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB
"Well she's NOT. She's still an evil stepmom. She just does these nice things to SEEM nice." Tori huffed to herself a bit. Knowing Paulie, he probably WOULD find Lois NICE and PRETTY. Hopefully he would also see her snobby side, though, so that Tori didn't seem like a like, liar.
Anyway. The redhead tugged him down the other staircase, the one at the back of the house mansion, and out toward the expansive grounds. "Oh yes, he gave me LOTS of nicknames, most of which aren't repeatable in good company." Tori giggled. "But no, unfortunately, only you and my dad are smart enough to call me Princess."
Hehehee.
She was just leading him toward the bridge over their little pond when he hit her with some big news. "Head Boy?!" Tori gasped, as that was the appropriate reaction here. "OHEMGEE! CONGRATS, Paulie!!!!!!!" She squealed again and threw her arms around his neck. "I am SO SO SO excited for you!!!!!"
It was only as she was clinging hugging Paulie that she had the secondary thought that, what if, as Head Boy, Paulie started getting more attention from GIRLS?! Grrrrr. Tori was going to have to pay her Hogwarts Spies more this year so they'd keep a Double Extra Top Secret Super Close Eye on her Paulie.
Releasing Paulie from her congratulatory hug, Tori nodded. "Yep. They'll be like us. Miles and miles apart." Sigh. "You went to Beauxbatons though... how did YOU survive, Paulie?!"

Oh. Whoops! Paulie had thought that she was still talking about her real mum. "Oh, right. Well, I'll hone in my observation skills when I meet her later." Now Paulie was curious about this wicked step-mother! Tori was totally living in a fairy tale now, right? Castle Mansion, evil step-mother, magical abilities, AND, last but certainly not least, a knight in shining armor!
He gave a little chuckle when she affirmed that her brother found other nicknames for her instead, and that he and he father were the only ones to call her 'Princess.' "Guess your dad and I have more in common that I thought."
Paulie's head was on a swivel, looking left and right to take in allllll the grounds. He hardly noticed that they were walking over a bridge! But he was quickly distracted from the scenery when Tori squealed and threw her arms about his neck. "Thanks!" Heh, he thought it'd make her happy. And this would force him to do his schoolwork.. "I'm definitely excited, too.... but also kinda nervous." Yep, the letter was a TOTAL shocker to him.
When they finally separated, Paulie made do by just holding her hand now. How did he survive Beauxbatons?! That was so, so long ago. "I didn't much like Beauxbatons, actually, soo.." He supposed he just put up with it? He leaned over the side of the bridge and searched for his reflection in the water.

Aww good. Tori gave Paulie's hand a reassuring pat-pat and smiled as he seemed to be liking her dad. That was good, right? Good, all was good and stuff... except for her whole going to a horrid school for the most important years of her LIFE, all was good.
"Don't be nervous," Tori cheerfully encouraged her boyfriend. "You'll do great! You know your way around the school and you have LOTSA friends in all SORTS of houses..." From what she recalled he did, anyway. "AND you've got that RAWRR Gryffindor Knight thing going for ya!"
She giggled and tried to picture Paulie telling off a firstie for... bring a broom to school or something and just failed. Oh well, he'd still be an awesome Head Boy REgardless.
He didn't much like Beauxbatons... wellp, there went THAT bit of help. "Well never mind then. My dad said I got some letter from them earlier but I sort of ignored him." As she did whenever she heard something she didn't want to hear. Besides, she had had to go get ready for Paulie!!!
And now it was about lunch time. Tori could tell she was starting to feel hungry. "You ready to go in and face the padres?" she mused to Paulie, turning them around at the end of the pretty bridge.

CHRISTMAS!
Ever since last year, Paulie had anticipated Christmas a MILLION times more because Christmas = break from school = TIME TO SEE TORIIIIII. Of course, by this point in their winter break, Paulie had already hung out with her and reunited and stuff, but now they officially got to celebrate and be extra festive! Paulie was thinking 'festive' as in coincidentally finding themselves under the mistletoe every five minutes.
After arriving before the big front doors of the mansion, Paulie rapped on the door and anxiously waited for someone to open it. Preferably Tori.

Lois rather liked christmas time. The festival was so festive, and she got presents. Lois rather liked recieving presents, especially nice expensive ones from her super handsome husband. Of course she enjoyed the fod too. But of course she didn't do any of that herself. Apart from baking pretty christmas tree shaped cookies. She did that, after many years of perfecting the recipe, and no longer burning the cookies. For this years festive period she had even brought in some yummy eggnog. She was going over board this year.
"Arnie?" She called out after she had poured them both a glass of the yummy liquid. Come get it baby. ]

Upon hearing the sound of a knock at the door, Tori click-clacked her way down the stairs, nice and slow so that she wouldn't trip in her sparkly new heels. She made her way over to the door, her hand oustretched to get it because she just KNEW it was Paulie...
...but Arnie got to the door first. "Coming, darling," he called out to Lois in the other room, glancing over his shoulder at Tori. "Don't worry, Victoria, I'll get the door. You go on in and join your stepmother." He smiled and then noticed her bare shoulders. Hmmph. "And put on a jacket, will ya? It's WINTERTIME."
Tori pouted a bit but obediently stomped over to the hall closet to get out her bomber jacket, which she had been HOPING to show off to Paulie anyway. Once she tossed it over her shoulder, she flipped her hair and marched on into the dining room to have eggnog with Lois.
Ewww, Lois. She was only going to be nice to the woman since Paulie was here, and Tori didn't want to do anything to mess up her precious time with Paulie.
Ah, Lois. Arnie was momentarily distracted by lovey-dovey thoughts of his superhot wife but then remembered that he was supposed to be answering the door. That would be the caterer, yes? He threw open the heavy front door with a grin, which quickly faded at the sight of the teenager in front of him.
"Oh. Paul." Well, that was all right, he supposed. Tori had told him the boy would show up at some point during the holidays. "How are you, old sport? Come in, come on. We're just having drinks in the parlor." He didn't wait to see if the boy was following him before taking off to the right of the stairs. The kid would close the door behind him, right? He hadn't been born in a barn, had he?

He hadn't been born in a barn, had he?
Oh, oh! Paulie could hear the clacking of Tori's heels, and suddenly a wide grin graced his features as he rocked on his feet a little, all ready to greet her with a BIG, vice-clamp kinda hug. The door opened and his arms spread while he stepped forward to......
NOT hug Mr. Bunbury. O_O Instead, he awkwardly stood there for a moment, his arms stretched out like a bird with bent wings, as Tori's dad lost the smile on his face almost as quickly as Paulie did. Oh, Paul? Uhmm... was he expecting someone else? "Hi, Mr. Bunbury," he greeted. He figured the 'how are you' question was more of a rhetorical one, so Paulie followed the man inside and shut the door before walking on to go have 'drinks in the parlor.' That sounded so weeiird. Honestly, Paulie had never even heard of people having parlors.
But he rounded the corner and THERE WAS TORI. His face lit up and, had there not been Papa Bunbury in the room, he would have gone for a proper kiss. A cheek kiss would suffice, though. "Merry Christmas, Tori!" And no, she wouldn't get her present now.
The Gryffindor's 'tunnel vision' prevented him from noticing anyone else in the room at first, but when he did realize that someone other than Tori and her dad was in here.... he wondered HOW in the world he missed her. Because she was, like, TOTALLY fine. He even kinda sorta stared for a second. Who was she, anyw- oh. Wait. Wait, was THIS the evil, model step-mother who did charities and rode racehorses?! But she looked so YOUNG and.. ya know. Model-esque.
Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB
Mmm. Hi. All that. Arnold moved into the parlor and planted on a kiss on Lois' beautiful cheek. "Is that eggnog?" he asked her cheerfully, picking up a glass and taking a hearty sip. "Mmm you do do a great job, darling. Mmhmm." She had really outdone herself this year, buying eggnog AND baking cookies. Just look at that.
Tori just rolled her eyes as her dad returned. She hadn't said a WORD to Lois yet today, and she didn't plan on saying a word until she was spoken to first. Or until she had to speak.
She lazily turned her gaze toward the door and was surprised to see PAULIE walking in. "PAULIE!!!!!!!!" she squealed happily, turning her head so his kiss landed on her lips instead of on her cheek. Cheek kisses were laaaame.
Did you see THAT ONE, Dad, DIDJA?
"Merry Christmas to you too, Paulie!" she giggled, grabbing his hand and tugging him into the seat nearest hers. "I MISSED YOU!" Why was he looking so shocked or whatever? What was he staring at anyway? Lois' weird hair? Surely he wasn't OGLING HER FACE OR ANYTHING, RIGHT?!!

Hehe. Paulie smirked after he had unknowingly planted a kiss on Tori's lips, instead of her cheek. She was sneaky! But he liked this, of course. And when she pulled him on over to sit, he readily complied. "I missed you! Got a lot to tell ya, too." RHYMED. Seriously, though. It was only halfway through the schoolyear, and already there was loooaads of news for Paulie to fill her in on.
His eyes lowered to her collar. "Man.. cool jacket, Tor! You should wear that when I get my pilot's license." You know, fit the part and everything. Maybe some aviators, too? heh. Then SHE'LL look like the pilot.
Since his GIRLFRIEND was neglecting introductions, Paulie figured he better introduce himself to Arnie's armcandy. "Hi, I'm Paulie." He sliced the air with a single wave and gave a polite smile. "Merry Christmas." There, now the woman couldn't think him rude, right? Noooope.
Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean
Oh. Victoria. Lois figured that she probably did need to actually talk to her step-daughter. She tried the best for her Arnie, even if she got the idea that Victoria really didn't like her that much. Lois could see why really. Although she would not admit it. She was an awesome person, and everyone should like her. "Hello Victoria" The brunette turned around slightly, and offered the teenager a smile. Hmm. Should she offer the girl a drink? Well. It certainly couldn't be any of the eggnog. The girl was not off age yet. "Would you like a drink?" She inquired, just to be nice really. And she didn't exactly what the girl to get dehydrated.
But when he husband arrived, she did soon forget that Tori might have wanted a drink. "My famous Eggnog." She grinned at him, knowing full well Arnie would know that she had no made it herself. The cookies were all hers though. And they looked pretty awesome if she did say so herself. Which she did. "Come sit down..." She murmered, picking up her glass of eggnog, and wandered over to one of the seats.
And. There was her step-daughter's boyfriend. She watched with a disapproving look as the pair kissed. She left that for Arnie to mention though, for she was sure he would have something to say about that. Ooh. And the young man was introducing himself. How polite. "It is nice to meet you Paulie." Lois smiled at him. "I'm Lois, Victoria's step-mother"

"Lots of GOOD STORIES, I hope," Tori smiled back at Paulie and kept hold of his hand, giving it a good SQUEEZE just in case he had any BAD STORIES to tell her. He'd better not have any more stories about kissing GIRLS, since Tori didn't have any stories like that.
She did have lots to tell him too though, and she WOULD tell him stuff, just as soon as the ugh padres left the room.
Speaking of padres... Tori's dad raised his eyebrows at his daughter, having not missed a moment of that smooth little smooch exchange. He cleared his throat loudly and, eggnog in hand, took his wife's hand and followed lead the way over to the stuffy seating at the far end of the parlor.
"So you're planning on becoming a Muggle pilot, hmmmm Paul? Is that right?" He settled onto the loveseat and rested his shiny, spotless boots on a nearby ottoman. "Sit with me, Lois daaaarling." Well she would. She didn't even need to be told. Victoria, on the other hand... shouldn't be ignoring her stepmother.
He narrowed his eyes at Tori. "Victoria. Join us."
Tori sighed dramatically but picked up a glass of cranberry juice and trailed after the others. "I was hoping you'd notice the jacket," she whispered to her boyfran. "Oh and I have stories for you too!" Sorta. Stories about Beauxbatons just didn't compare to ones about Hogwarts though.

Exaggerated clearing of the throat? Yep, that was Mr. Bunbury's disapproval. Paulie gave Tori a guilty smirk, though, and said nothing of it.
"Nice to meet you, too, Lois." There. That was simple enough. Hmm. Hmmmmmmmmh. Her name was Lois. Like Lois Lane. Paulie's eyes darted to Arnold Bunbury, who COULD probably pull off a Clark Kent, then back to Lois Lane. Huh.
His attention, however, was quickly brought back to Tori. GOOD stories? Well, maybe not ALL of them were good. But surely they were all totally worth telling. "Some of 'em," he nodded. She had stories, too? YAYYY, he was anxious to hear these. Come to think of it, though, he never DID get all the details of her detention story..
Hearing Tori's dad addressing him again, Paulie turned to see the man propping his boots up onto a footrest and asking him about his future. "Yep, that's the plan," he affirmed. "I'm gonna enlist in the Royal Air Force and I guess I'll leave for training sometime after Hogwarts." He wasn't really sure when training started. Or how long it was. But eh, he had time to sort that out, right?

And there was her husbands disapproval. Well done Arnie. Lois agreed, and continued eyeing the teenagers for a few moments. She was married to Arnie, and she wasn't smoochy smooching him. Not yet anyway. So she was glad her disapproved of the smoochy smooching his daughter was engaging in. At least Lois didn't have to voice her disapproval now, because she knew that it wouldn't go down well with Victoria. The girl already didn't like her enough.
But Lois eyed Victoria's boyfriend. Lois. He'd called her Lois. Did this boy really have no manners. "Mrs. Bunbury..." She corrected him. Yes. Not Lois. He wasn't a friend of hers. So no using her of her first name. And with that she turned around to her husband, who was calling her. "Coming Darling... She smiled at him, as she sat herself down next to him. Wasn't this nice. Hehe.
Paulie wanted to a pilot. Interesting. Lois nodded approvingly. "That is a good choice in career..." Clearly not as good as her darling Arnie. But everyone already knew that.

Tori just sorta sat there, not sure WHY she was being excluded from the conversation but definitely FEELING excluded. Hmmph. Paulie wasn't that much more interesting than she was, so like... why did he get all the attention?
Also, she'd thought he was joking when he'd said he wanted to be a pilot....
"So you think being a pilot is a good career move for a Hogwarts-trained wizard, do you?" Arnie raised an eyebrow and took a sip of his eggnog. Mm. Delightful. Good work, Lois.
He slung his arm around the back of the loveseat, resting it behind Lois' shoulders. "Tori tells me you're the Head Boy at Hogwarts too. One would think Hogwart's own student leader --- and surely one of the top students in his grade ---- would be able to find a better career than enlisting in the Muggle air force. Wth a career like that, one would even think that... you weren't a wizard at all."
Arnold stared straight through the boy. Good enough to date his daughter? He was starting to think NOT.
"DAD!" Tori burst, shaking her head and crossing her arms angrily. He couldn't just IMPLY things like that!! It was like SO RUDE!!! You don't just ask people why they're a wizard. Gosh.
She gave Paulie and apologetic look and his hand a good squeeze. "Paulie's dad was a pilot. I think it's a very honorable career for him and I support him in it entirely."
So THERE.

Mrs. Bunbury? Umm, hulloooo? If she wanted to be called Mrs. Bunbury, why the heck did she introduce herself as Lois?! But Paulie minded his MANNERS and said nothing of that. "Of course.. Mrs. Bunbury." The longer Paulie was in the room with Lois, the more he thought back to Tori's words about her. The fakeness and all that. ..Maybe he was just getting a little exasperated by all this 'daaaaaarling' crap.
He smiled a bit, though, when Lois complimented his choice of career. Okay, she was redeeming herself some. "Thank you." MR. Bunbury didn't seem so approving. Like.... What the HECK? Didn't he approve of it when Paulie mentioned it to him over the summer?
"I think becoming a pilot is a good career move for anyone who wants it enough, wizard or not." But Paulie soon had more to respond to. Yes, he diiiid. Know why? Because Arnie decided that he wanted to do some more insulting and insinuating. "By a 'better' career, you mean one that involves magic." Or so it sounded. "But you yourself have got a job that's for muggles." Mr. Stunt-double! Pfft. Questioning that Paulie were a wizard. Nonsense! If he wanted some proof, Paulie could glaaadly show him. Heh..
Although trying to contain himself because these were Tori's parents (/step-parent), the seventeen-year-old was becoming increasingly irked about this.. this... ATTACK on his career choice. But only up until he felt his hand squeezed. That was when Tori interjected. And she probably wasn't aware how much that remark meant to him, but it meant a lot, ya know. He'd never ACTUALLY told Tori he loved her, but when he smiled over at her, his eyes seemed to say it for him. He leaned down and kissed her on the lips, unable to resist making a dig at Arnold over there. "Thanks, daaarling."
