The Alley

Cale loved girls.

He wasn't going to try and deny it or anything. What good would that do?

And Cale had met a lot of girls today. A lot of pretty girls.

First off, there was Little Miss Bossy Gryffindor. He liked her and she was fun to talk to...when she wasn't being bossy and calling him an egomaniac. Man, she did she manage to push his buttons like no other. But, she was little Emma's best friend, so he felt obligated to be nice to her. Not that he wouldn't be nice if he hadn't known that. Cause he probably would. But something told him that this girl was really...complex on the inside, and that their little squabbles today would NOT be the last. But after a while, they had gotten along very well, which was definitely a good thing.

And then of course, she punched him in the arm. It was meant to be that cute little playful way that most girls punch other guys, but no, it was hard.

Then, there was the Cake Thrower. Turns out, Cale knew Cake Thrower from a party he had been to a few years ago...only then he thought that she was a Muggle. That was obviously not the case. The reason he liked the name Cake Thrower for her was, obviously, because she had thrown cake at his head at that party. Because she thought he was cute. How sweet.

Anyways, Cale and Cake Thrower talked about a lot of stuff. Chocolate came up in the conversation a lot. Then, Cake Thrower's guy friend, Jack, appeared and was giving him attitude. Cale figured he probably thought Cale was there to steal Cake Thrower from him (who, despite what she said, was obviously infatuated by this guy). But that vanished really quickly.

Jack didn't have a nickname yet, though.

Then, at the Leaky Cauldron, he knocked over another girl, although to be completely fair it was kind of her fault. Anyways, she had pink hair. Cale really liked her hair--it was unique and original. Plus, she could pull off pink hair.

And she liked his face. Truth be told, he liked her face too. A lot.

Cale had met so many people; it was hard to keep track of them. He had met a number of Quidditch players from Gryffindor, an adorable little girl named Alice who seemed to cling to people by their shirt collars, and quite a few more random people. Little Miss Bossy Gryffindor also made the comment that most of his new friends seemed to be girls, and jokingly referred to them as his "fan base".

Just what Cale needs. A fan base.

And then, of course, a number of people walked into him. Or tripped over him. Or knocked him over. It was strange how trouble seemed to follow Cale around. A lot of times, it happened when Little Miss Bossy Gryffindor was offering him candy. Maybe he should stay away from candy offered to him by other students...he nearly died from eating a jalapeño jelly bean. And then, as he was eating a chocolate frog, someone walked into him, again.

Or maybe it was just a sign from some higher power that he was supposed to lose weight or something.

All in all, it had been a very eventful day, and if all these crazy people he had met in Diagon Alley were as crazy at Hogwarts as they were that day, he would have a lot of fun at school.

AHHHHHHH HAHAHAHAH! I just love it!!!! The other title for this chapter should be "The Girls of Diagon Alley." This is hilarious! I love that the recent punch was included. It was so true to Anna's character. Only Anna would playfully punch a guy and hurt him. haha

The Pink Girl

So, remember that pretty girl Cale met in the Leaky Cauldron? After a bit of talking, they decided to go do some shopping, and something totally awesome happened.

But first, a guy that Cale had seen only a few times walked up to him, and obviously did not notice that Cale was with Pink Girl. He knew him vaguely as one of Emma's friends, but other than that Cale had not talked to him very much.

Cale has never had someone try so hard to set him up with random strangers.

The worst part was, he asked him, straight up, if he thought his friend, who just happened to be a girl, was cute! In front of Pink Girl!

Cale just wanted to die. Literally, just drop dead. He had no clue what to do; if he said yes, Pink Girl might get mad at him. If he said no, he'd risk offending someone he had never met. If he said nothing, he would look stupid.

But, thankfully, his cousin completely freaked and apologized to Cale, so the whole thing got settled very quickly. And Pink Girl wasn't mad at him. In fact, she thought it was really funny, and that the whole thing was really sweet. And after that, Cale wasn't mad at all.

He'd have to thank that guy when he got to Hogwarts.

Anyways, back to Cale and Pink Girl:

He always thought that he was, by far, the clumsiest person in the world. How many people nearly fall out of their own bedroom windows because they were pretending to be rockstars? Not many. But after talking to Pink Girl, he realized that she may just be as clumsy as him--maybe even clumsier. Within the small amount of time that he had known her, she had managed to not only trip over his big Converse-clad feet, but also hit her head rather hard on the fireplace.

At least Cale hadn't fallen down in front of her yet. But it was only a matter of time.

But the totally awesome part was, that she had grabbed his hand.

The first time, he was pretty sure she hadn't been thinking when she grasped his hand with hers. But then, she grabbed his hand again, and it was most definitely on purpose that time. And Cale totally didn't mind. He just held her hand back.

Looks like Prince Charming may have already found his Cinderella.

The Pickup Line

So, basically, Cale is rubbish at flirting.

Only he could manage to try and use a smooth pickup line on a girl, and have her end up thinking he was talking about someone else.

He had been trying to be all cool, really, by telling her that little story about how Jack was territorial when he first met him. He explained that Jack would have spared them a few awkward moments of conversation if he had known Cale was interested in someone else.

That was exactly how he delivered it, too.

And Pink Girl thought he was talking about someone else. So, he obviously was not very good at giving a sly hint. Maybe if he had added a wink it would have been better.

So then, he had to explain to her how he was actually talking about her, and that Pink Girl was the girl he was interested in. Poor Mr. Clumsy...there was a lot of blushing involved at that moment.

And then she hugged him. And everything suddenly got a lot better.

Awwwwwwww.

Anyways, then, Cale had finished his shopping and had to go home, or his mum would most likely call the Aurors and report him missing. So, he went back home, and began doodling on his parchment in his room, as usual.

And all he could think about was a certain Slytherin girl with pink hair.

Strangely enough, all of his doodles seemed to morph into hearts that day.

The Fall

We all know Cale is not exactly the lightest on his feet, but he is pretty sure he is one of the few at Hogwarts whose clumsiness has almost killed them.

Cale was busy listening to the radio one day, when a song came on that he really liked. It was a classic from the Weird Sisters, and he couldn't help but to start playing air guitar...like a loser. Cale liked pretending his was a rockstar--deep down, he thought it would be a really cool job, actually. If only he knew how to play the guitar.

Anyways, so, like most teenage boys, Cale doesn't make his bed a lot. And that day his sheets were hanging off the edge of his unmade bed, and he proceeded to trip over them. As usual.

Only not many people have such bad luck that they fall and head straight for their open window. Which was exactly what happened.

He toppled out the open window, so that half of his body was hanging perilously over the rosebushes below, and the lower half of his body was still in his room. It took him a whole 4 minutes to push himself back into his room, and all that time he had seriously thought he was going to plummet to his death in the rosebushes.

Granted, the height between him and the bushes was only about ten feet at the most, but we already know Cale exaggerates a lot.

Up until now, that had been the clumsiest thing he had ever done. But what happened this morning was probably a little worse.

He blamed his sister Theresa, really. Like a typical 9 year old, she had managed to somehow break into his room when he wasn’t looking, and then she got a hold of some of his drawings...you know, the ones with the hearts on them? Once he discovered her little invasion of privacy, he chased her around the upper level of his house while she taunted him ("Oooooohhhhhhhhh, who's Coraaaaaaaaa?") until she finally decided to run downstairs.

You can already see where this is going, right?

So, as Cale stormed after her, his big feet got in the way on the second landing of his staircase, and he toppled all the way down. A few seconds later, he felt a very sharp pain in his arm and a tiny cracking noise, and it was all over. Except for the pain--that just got worse.

His mother's first reaction was to go, "Cale Markus Newell, you've fallen down again?" but after she saw the state of his arm, she immediately rushed him to St. Mungos.

Now, his arm was mended quite quickly, and it took the Healer's only ten seconds to completely mend the break. The only thing was that the bone in his arm was still fragile. They gave him daily doses of potion to take to bring his arm's strength back, but it wouldn't be fully healed for a few days, so he had to wear a sling around his arm until then. At first, he was just glad that it was not his wand hand, but then a startling thought occurred to him.

The day he was allowed to take the sling off, was the first day of classes. Meaning that he would have to make his first appearance at school, on the train, with this hideous, grotesque, embarrassing arm sling.

How lovely.

Awww, poor Cale. Now Anna's going to have a hard time meeting up with him on the train. No matter how mad she is at him right now, it's hard to stay mad at a guy in a sling.

Cale playing air-guitar is TOO funny. I remember when he told Anna he played air-guitar. I think she revealed one of her silly moments to him, too. I can't remember which one, though.
