| Becky's Bestie | Magic Pen Original Nymphadora | Lizasaurus Is it your native language? English & Ojibwe How many languages can you speak? (or read/understand). Fluent: German, ASL, and English
Medium: Spanish, French and Ojibwe
Japanese (slowly improving to medium!), BSL, Tagalog, and Italian Is there a language you are DYING to learn? The ones I hope one day to know next? Russian, Hebrew, and Greek! Are your parents/relatives from a non-English speaking country? My parents aren't but my uncle lives in Germany! Do you speak one language at home, and another outside of home? Our family is multilingual because each of my kids have wanted to have language they spoke besides English. My oldest speaks a bit of Spanish, The next two speak German, the fourth child speaks a bit of French and quite a bit of Japanese, and my youngest is working on Ojibwe currently as is the rest of our family. We are a part of the Chippewa Indian tribe. Are you currently learning a language? - Why? (fun, work, New Years Resolution?) I'm currently taking classes for Ojibwe. I'm also working on Japanese, Tagalog, Italian and BSL. Have you previously known a language, but forgotten over time? Ojibwe! What languages could you greet someone in, but not necessarily understand the language? This is a fun question for me, because I understand way more than I actually speak. If someone is speaking Swedish or Dutch I can pick it up as it's close enough to German. Same with Tagalog and Italian with Spanish. My uncle one morning came downstairs and started speaking to me in Spanish, and although I speak just a bit I understood precisely what he was saying. He tried to apologize and translate and I told him not to worry and translated what he'd said back to him. He was surprised as I can speak just a bit of Spanish but was able to understand what he was saying to me!

Turkish yes, Spanish (and English obv) no. How many languages can you speak? (or read/understand).
Fluently, 3 (Turkish, English, Spanish). I can read and understand written German using a dictionary, because I know the grammar, but I don't know many words. Is there a language you are DYING to learn?
German. Persian would be REALLY cool too, because the poems (or 'gazel' as specifically called) in Persian are very beautiful. Are your parents/relatives from a non-English speaking country?
I'm from Turkey so yeah. My whole family is Turkish. Do you speak one language at home, and another outside of home?
Nope. Are you currently learning a language? - Why? (fun, work, New Years Resolution?)
No - but I have many resources on my hands for German, so as soon as I have time I will go back to it. Have you previously known a language, but forgotten over time?
German (sounds like I'm obsessed with it XD but I'm not honestly). I used to know many more words, but I forgot over time. What languages could you greet someone in, but not necessarily understand the language?
German, Italian, French, Greek, Portuguese (I can understand written Portuguese to some extent, though), Arabic.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Clara Simelanu Fifth Year | Is it your native language?
Vietnamese!
How many languages can you speak? (or read/understand).
I speak English fluently. My native language is Vietnamese and I can read, understand, write most things, and maybe speak at a conversational level. I am learning Spanish, Dutch, and French on Duolingo. I studied French for four years in an academic setting so I'm okay at it but definitely not fluent.
Is there a language you are DYING to learn?
Ooh! Other than getting a lot better at French and Spanish [and Dutch], I'd love to learn Russian.
Are your parents/relatives from a non-English speaking country?
Yes. They're from Vietnam.
Do you speak one language at home, and another outside of home?
Nah. I mostly speak English all the time unless I need to explain something that is easier said in Vietnamese.
Are you currently learning a language? - Why? (fun, work, New Years Resolution?)
^^^ French, Spanish, and Dutch because I want to visit France, I want to easily communicate with the Spanish speakers that are common in my area, and just because lol
Have you previously known a language, but forgotten over time?
Not completely, although most of the French I learned in school (such as grammar and verb tenses) is a bit lost. I retained mostly vocabulary words.
What languages could you greet someone in, but not necessarily understand the language?
Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, German.

Is it your native language? - English and Korean (Hangeul)
How many languages can you speak? (or read/understand) - mainly i understand English and Korean. I studied French back in high school (i still remember some of it... ish ) and i studied Mandarin when i went to university.
Is there a language you are DYING to learn? I wanto be really good in French, German and Japanese but so far my chances of learning these languages are really slim.
Are your parents/relatives from a non-English speaking country? Yes
Do you speak one language at home, and another outside of home? Nope, not really. Even when i used to live abroad my parents didn't really spoke that much korean around me.
Are you currently learning a language? - Why? (fun, work, New Years Resolution?) - i wish i was but unfortunately i'm not leaning any new languages at the moment.
Have you previously known a language, but forgotten over time? - hmmm. No, not really. I've tried learning other languages in the past but i have failed in memorizing most of them. So they all go into this list.
What languages could you greet someone in, but not necessarily understand the language? - i know alot of the common 'hello' greeting in other languages because... well, youtube. But other than hello, that's it for me.

| doesn't proofread tweets | #wrongaboutcereal | #siriusly? | emo to the extremo Native language? English & Farsi How many languages can you speak? Threeeee. English, Farsi, Spanish Is there a language you are DYING to learn? ARABIC ;_; and ASL Are your parents/relatives from a non-English speaking country? Both of my parents were born & raised in Iran, as were their siblings/parents. My generation is all over the planet though ehehe Do you speak one language at home, and another outside of home? At home I speak a mix of Farsi & English, there was a lot more Farsi present at home when I was younger (70% vs 30%) but now I'd say we speak more English (80% vs 20%) Are you currently learning a language? - Why? I'm not learning a new language, but I never learned how to read or write in Farsi, so I'm working on that! Have you previously known a language, but forgotten over time? I've definitely gotten rusty with my Farsi and Spanish because I don't have the chance to practice as much as I like, but I haven't forgotten either of them! Just little bits and pieces here and there. What languages could you greet someone in, but not necessarily understand the language? I can say French words like baguette and croissant does that count LOL jokes. uh. ASL -- I know the literal MINIMUM amount. Like the least you can know. I know maybe that.

Honestly quite a few if it were possible..such as Japanese Are your parents/relatives from a non-English speaking country? My parents are from India, but settled in Canada after they got married Do you speak one language at home, and another outside of home? I mainly just speak English, but I speak Punjabi with older relatives. Are you currently learning a language? - Why? (fun, work, New Years Resolution?) Not at the moment, but it would be fun in the near future. Have you previously known a language, but forgotten over time? I took French and Spanish in school but don't remember a lot of it (regrettably) What languages could you greet someone in, but not necessarily understand the language? A lot actually, but many of them are only greetings.

OMG why have I NEVER seen this thread? *is a big language enthusiast* Native language? Filipino and English. Aside from that, I have a regional language too. So I guess I have three of them? *makes sense* How many languages can you speak? (or read/understand). Five! I am fluent in three, and they're the ones I mentioned as my native languages. Additionally I can read, understand, and speak some basic Spanish and German. I studied those two languages in uni. Is there a language you are DYING to learn? Tbh, I just want to work on my fluency in Spanish and German for now! I'm losing touch But I am also open to learning about other languages, and it amazes me when multilingual SSers greet me in their languages too Are your parents/relatives from a non-English speaking country? Yup, we're all from the Philippines. Do you speak one language at home, and another outside of home? I speak my regional language at home, and Filipino and English in uni. Are you currently learning a language? - Why? (fun, work, New Years Resolution?) I'm technically free from uni because of the pandemic, so not really, but I was learning German before the semester ended :3 Have you previously known a language, but forgotten over time? Yes, I took a semester's worth of French back in high school. I....do not remember most of what I learned. It was high school and everything was super chill so What languages could you greet someone in, but not necessarily understand the language? Anything that's on Google Translate, I guess. Even if it's not exactly the best source for sentence translation, I think GT gets the job done in terms of greetings
