2015: Meet Zoe

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, a crazy girl named Zoe was born. HI! I AM ZOE!

To start off, this November marks my ninth year of being a member here at SnitchSeeker. I am still addicted to this wonderful website after all these years and have made some of the best friends. I have held various site positions since joining, ranging from fan club officer to Hufflepuff prefect to moderator of various forums and more. Today you can usually find me at the Dept. of International Cooperation (Languages) and Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes (Games) as those are the forums that I run. If I were you, I would definitely check those places out, as well as the other areas of the site, when you have the chance.

As for my life beyond SnitchSeeker and the internet, I teach English to secondary/high school students in good old Canada. I love baking and cooking, watching TV and movies, jamming to music, reading, writing (including role-playing!), and spending time with family and friends. Furthermore, I am an avid hockey fan, frequent nature walker, lover of banana cream pie, and the proud owner of two corgis: Dexter and Winston.

Well, that is enough of an introduction from me. So now I turn the tables over to you. Bring on those questions!

1. I have more than one favourite HP character. I can't pick just one! So my favourites are Ron, Neville, Luna, Dumbledore, and Tonks.
2. "Not my daughter, you..." Juuuuuuuuust kidding! My favourite HP quote was said by dear old Albus: "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
3. American Horror Story: Hotel, Scream Queens, and the last season of Da Vinci's Demons. It's quite a challenge getting my fill of them all at the same time.
4. Umm ... The Great Gatsby ... Alice's Adventures in Wonderland ... The Fault In Our Stars ... there's many more I should be listing here.

1. One of the three books I listed above in #4. Probably The Great Gatsby though. *nods*
2. Again, I'm not too great at picking favourites. So I have two! Evanna Lynch and Rupert Grint.
3. Ottawa Senators. I also root for the Vancouver Canucks.

1. I will always and forever will be a Hufflepuff. Will I return there in the Hogwarts RPG? I guess only time will tell? I've not yet toured all the Houses yet.
2. I would want to teach Care of Magical Creatures. I love the creatures in the Potte universe, so naturally I'd want to teach that subject.
3. Barcelona, Spain.
4. She's a seventh year already?! Oh, man. Tancred would be both happy and sad. Happy that she's graduating and moving on into the world. But sad because she is his little girl ... and that she won't be around to keep an eye on the boys at school.

Last weekend my husband, two friends and I was talking about to move to another country. My husband wants to move to Australia and I to Canada. The thing is that I hate all this heat we have here (I'm melting today) and I think that Canada would be a nice (and cold) place to live. What is the most interesting thing you could tell me about your country?

The amount of time I spend on SS fluctuates all the time. Some days I'm on for hours, whereas others I'm only on just to check up on things quick. It depends on my availability, how hectic things in my life outside of SS are, etc. But the key thing is finding a balance between SS and everything else. Mhhm.

As for your second question, there are a variety of positions that one can have on SS. The major ones are admin/mod/staff, which is a team compromised of mature, reliable, helpful, and active SS members. There is no application to become an admin/mod/staff -- they are chosen based on the attributes listed earlier and if there is a need for new team members.

There are also prefects in the Hogwarts RPG, shopkeepers and shopkeeper assistants in the Diagon Alley RPG, and department heads in the Ministry RPG. I'm not 100% sure on the selection process in those areas, but I think it is safe to say that the selection process for those positions is similar to the way that admins/mods/staff are chosen -- that a member is mature, reliable, helpful, and active. For further details, you can contact the admins of those areas (Magical Soul, grangerfan8, and Cassirin).

But wait! There's more! There are also fan club officers and language mods. Fan club officers are members that assist the fan club mod look after the threads in the fan club forum and help keep discussions going. If this is something you are possibly interested in, this post should answer your questions. Lastly, there is the language mod position. Language mods help maintain various language threads in the Dept. of International Cooperation forum. They are selected by the language manager (me!) based on maturity, reliability, activity, and fluency in the language they are moderating. Each language has 1 or 2 mods (depending on the popularity of the language).

Hi there!

1. Well, I can speak English, French, Spanish, and Russian. So ... I think Japanese would be nice to add onto that list.
2. I'd love to go back to Spain. I've been there once, but I just love the country. Otherwise, for a country I've never been to before, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand are on my list.
3. Sadly I've not met any of the HP cast. I alllllllmost met Tom Felton. My friend and I drove to Toronto when he was there once promoting one of the HP films and we tried hunting him down, but our mission was unsuccessful.

Canada is awesome. Move here! The most interesting thing about Canada? There's so many! But I'd definitely saw that we have a lot of beautiful areas throughout the country, especially out in nature. Just Google images of Canadian nature, tourism, and parks to see what I mean.

Well ... we're got a secret recipe in my family. I can't share it because it's a secret. Buuuuuut here are some recipes.

I would have to say that I really enjoy her writing style as Robert Galbraith. I love HP and enjoyed Vacancy, but there's something about Galbraith that I really enjoy. Probably the whole crime fiction aspect, which JKR has nailed perfectly.

For the most part, the whole "eh?" thing is just a stereotype. There are a number of Canadians that do use "eh" on occasion (I catch myself saying it once in a blue moon)), but it isn't as common as everyone may think. Though I'm sure its popularity is different from province to province, city to city, person to person, etc.

Hmm. Brazilian music ... my mind automatically jumps to samba and choro ... but I know I've heard other Brazilian music in the past. What I've heard, I generally do enjoy.

I can kind of play the piano. I took lessons when I was young, but my playing has gotten quite rusty.

My advice for anyone studying at a new school is to just be yourself, smile, and don't be afraid to talk to someone you don't know.

Yeah. I've had my Hogwarts tour planned out for quite a while now. Always knew it was going to be Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and then Slytherin. I kind of winged Ravenclaw, but I've had characters all planned out for Gryffindor and Slytherin. But where I go after my 7 terms as a Slytherin is a mystery.

The boys will probably be relieved and cause mass mayhem at Hogwarts. Or wherever they are. They might go to Durmstrang now that the girls aren't there to keep them in line. Who knows.

Depends on where in Canada you are, I think. I know Black Friday isn't as big here as it is in the U.S., but it has been gaining popularity to keep us close enough to the Canada/U.S. border shopping in the country. Though I usually go to NY to celebrate U.S. Thanksgiving with my older brother and his family... so I do dabble in some Black Friday shopping then. But mostly I'm all for having another reason to be with family and stuff myself with amazing food. Mhhm.

I have favourites because I like food. Soooooo... grilled shrimp tacos, paninis, chicken enchiladas, and breakfast quiche. Desserts are my specialty, though.
