Hi everyone, I'm one of your mods to meet for the month of September!

My name is Tegz, which is short for Tegan and I've been here and addicted since 2008, though back then my username was Celandine. I live in New Zealand and I'm currently studying at university, focusing on Linguistics and English, and once worked at a cinema (for six years mmhmm!) and you could say I'm a bit of a movie buff. I'm also super into reading and writing, which is what brought me to Snitchseeker.

Here on SS I can most often be found in the Wizarding World RPG. Within the School RPG I am currently the Charms Professor and Yearbook Editor. I am also the Department Head of Magical Law Enforcement for the Ministry of Magic RPG. My RPG history has been pretty full. I have been Ravenclaw Prefect, Head Girl, Ravenclaw Seeker, Quidditch Reserve, a writer for Aparecium, The Quill and a Features Editor for the Daily Prophet. I also hold the record as the highest house points earner in Snitchseeker history (term 21 with 1366 points).

Aside from the RPGs, I am a Newbie forum mod (here to help you guys and make sure your posts are legitimate before you get to be a full member) and I run the Quibbler forum (and interview and select the Member of the Month), which is a brand new forum especially for members and contains interviews, updates and games all designed to focus on our community. Don't worry you'll be able to see it soon!

I have also modded the Challenges Arena in Gringotts and the Books forum in the Leaky Cauldron in the past, and sometimes I can be found in the Fanfiction forums still as a sometime writer who dabbles in drabbles and tries my hand at ficcing ficlets. I also have a fic to support a former SSRPG character, and some retired drabbles and ficlets floating around. Oh and see that little SS Featured Writer usertitle I'm sporting? I got that during our Riddle Chronicles Challenge, where I won the first round writing about Tom Riddle in his school days.

In addition to that stuff, I must mention I've been rabid over Pottermore lately, and participated in the Quill challenge. My Pottermore account has been activated and I am a Beta, sorted in Ravenclaw of course!

That's probably enough about me and what I do!

Okay.

Right here in New Zealand, in any number of places. Its usually somewhere quiet and natural and beautiful. I like the native bush, or views of the ocean, and the chance to take in the natural world without a billion people around.

I'd be a sea turtle. Totally awesome. I want to ride the EAC.

And as for the Ravenclaw question welllllll....

... it means always working towards being your best self and learning and improving wherever possible. It means understanding others and doing your best to accept people that seem just a little bit... different from you. It means getting a real joy out of learning new things and applying that knowledge. It means having a sense of humour. Its having a competitive streak. Its an ability and enjoyment for communicating with others. It means trying new things and probably I could go on forever but us Eagles like to have some secrets. XD

You're NOT a genie? gosh. Let down. Still, there are wishes I'd want granted if a genie did ever appear, and I am not even going to be creative about it. Money, Health and Time, in that order.

AND (because I missed this at first)

My favourite character is Snape. His story arc is the most complex, the most appealing and the most emotional to me. He's a very private man and while we tend to see him through Harry's impatient eyes at first, soon enough that self shows through and he both impresses me and humbles me all in one. Also he shows how great Slythies can be XD

I'm right new here and don't know anybody but as I was reading all the things you've done in this forum and how involved you've got here I just knew you were a Ravenclaw. It's a great house and I hope I get sorted into it!

How is the Sorting Hat here? I can't wait to be sorted into a house and have a real start with this. I don't know why, but I feel like I have found my place ^^

Teehee well I have to apologise for how long that intro is, but I wanted to get as much in as I could for a bit of background.

Ravenclaw is a great house, but one thing I've learned since I've been on Snitchseeker is that each house has something amazing, and regardless of all the qualities each house supposedly exhibits, the big one here on SS is a sense of community. You tend to develop a bit of a fondness for your housemates, and a greater respect for the other houses than I thought possible.

As for the sorting hat, unfortunately you've juuuuust missed the sorting. But I can still tell you about it and not to fear, there are plenty of other things you can do in the meantime to get involved.

Here on Snitchseeker we have a quiz. Its fairly short, a few questions and then when it is submitted it gets reviewed by the admins (those bold black people), and they go through it and choose the house that best fits your responses. It lends quite a personal touch which is awesome, as they really make the effort to take what information you provide into account.

But as I said, sorting is over for another term (about three months), but veeery soon, the Ministry placement will be open, so if you are interested in Role play, you can create a character and take that quiz to get a job in the Ministry of Magic! Its pretty unique, our Ministry, and expansive too. A whole lot of fun to get involved in. Of course there is the rest of the site too, you don't have to be in a house to participate in the forums and discussions

And I'm glad you feel like you might find a place here at SS! Because honestly, I didn't expect to right away but it took maybe two days and I was hooked. We have a lot of fun, and its great getting to know people from all over the world and all walks of life. Harry Potter is the great equaliser!

First of all and most importantly.......YOU'RE FROM NEW ZEALAND? *dies* I just love it and it's on my to-visit list mainly because of LotR movies

So I have a few questions: What is the official language in your country? English? stupid maybe but I wanna know

I actually spent most of my life in Wellington, where the ROTK premiere was *brows* I should probably go to a lotr discussion thread in the leaky and share all my tales lol. (one random one, my ex boyfriend is the orc that got hit in the face by Sam's frying pan in the first movie. lol)

The official languages are English, Maori and New Zealand Sign Language. I only speak English but every Kiwi (thats what we call ourselves) can say a phrase or two in Maori. Especially my generation and younger. One of my closest friends is fluent in Maori *points at Con_Stripes*, and I'm always so jealous lol. In general people here speak English though, and that's the language used in schools and the like.

And yearbook is playing catch up we've done up to term 24, but lost a HUGE number of writers etc, so we're skipping ahead and working on older issues as we can. That being said, issues 25 and 28 are being worked on now, and the content is being edited and coded right now The intention is to have term 28 released for the feast. It is a lot of hard work, but the current team are amazing and work really hard to get their parts done.

I think for me it'd be a sloth. Because I like my personal space and I get sick a lot, but I am insightful and can see a lot of things that other people tend to miss.

1) Why would you want to? If they're not shorn they would barely feel it, and wool is often wiry and dirty. So I suppose the answer is yes, but its not something to get essited over XD

2) As long as you don't mind sharing a one bedroom studio flat, I do have a fold out futon. Its lumpy and a bit hard, but its a flat surface off of the ground.

I dont know if this is too odd of a question, but you are from New Zealand (can I come live with you?), I've read quite a few Linguistic papers from different schools in NZ and have kinda always wanted to study there because of it. So my question is what University do you go to?

and if that is too personal (so I'm not breaking rules): If you could pick any fictional universe to live in, which one would you pick?

I am! Its so interesting.

(And sure why not? Just a bunch of SSers moving in to my one bedroom place lulz) I go to Waikato University, which is a great place to be. I actually moved from a city with TWO universities in it, to come here which is a lot more.... quiet and low key (its a small city lol) but I'm glad I did. I chose it because the descriptions and even the titles for the classes came across as more exciting. *fumbles for link*

1. Legolas is probably more awesome, but I have a preference for Aragorn. Does that even make sense? Who knows.

i read above that you that snape is your favourite character because of his complex story. i also agree i think he has great personal strength, but have you ever imagined if lily wasnt killed what kind of person snape would be?

I can't believe that I didn't see this sooner but reading that you're doing English and Linguistics at uni. That is really awesome because I've got a BA in Linguistics. I don't know many people doing Linguistics though so it is always awesome to meet people who do!

My question is Linguistic-related--what is your favorite aspect of it? (Syntax, Semantics, Phonology, etc). Mine is Bilingualism and Phonology because for me it is the most interesting but I also really enjoyed Psycholinguistics.
