| | | Meet Lissydove!
Hello and nice to meet you! My name is Lissydove, a.k.a Lissy. My real name is Lisa. I will be your Mod of the month for October.
Currently I am an Admin here on SnitchSeeker working in the role of Member Support. What does that mean? I'm here to help out fellow staff and most importantly - members like you! I've Modded in many different places during my 4+ years on the site and you can still catch me posting News.
At home I am a mom of two little girls and I work as a Registered Nurse in a hospital. I also have degree in Archaeology.
My Harry Potter history started a little late. I had heard about these books everyone was talking about but they didn't sound like my kind of thing. I finally gave in and bought the first 4 published books at that time and had to admit I was hooked!
I don't want to say much more about myself because here is where you all come in. If you want to know more, you need to ask. All posts must ask a question. Feel free to ask what is on your mind about me, my role, or the site, but know I may pass on questions that are too personal.
SO I think we will have a great month getting to know each other. Welcome to SnitchSeeker! |

Hello, Lissydove!!! How are you? It's cool to meet a fellow New York Yankees fan on this site. I love your avatar and signature. I actually said the last sentence that was a part of a reply in thread for the Halloween Graveyard contest.
Who would you consider out of all the characters in Harry Potter that is the most misunderstood? I personally feel wholeheartedly that it is Draco Malfoy.
And do you remember when you first became a Yankees fan?

That they have! They can't help it.
THAT is a toughie. But for absolute certain, my next door neighbor would be my dearest twin, evlpez. Juls and Lizzie would live in my basement of cute doom and tockly torture. Unless Juls escapes and hides over with Pez. *ponders*
The house on my other side and in back are up for grabs, depending on who can put up with me as a neighbor. Which side you want SiSis? I'll take the house on the other side
& another question for youuuu
If you could be in any television show, canceled or not, which would it be? I think I already know the answer to this but I'm making sure. You can pick one canceled and one not canceled if it's hard. Quote:

I'm a total Narnia-freak, so have you read them? I like you lots too! I love meeting new people and I am so glad you stopped in.
I used to have the Narnia books loooooooong ago. My Grandma bought them for me as a kid. I know I read the first couple of them, but it is so long ago and I no longer have the books. I should try them again as I really do recall enjoying them and I enjoy the movies now. All I can say to that is. And I have agreements with Pez.
Chocolate chip, of course. They remind me of you. *yum* Quote:

Ok ummm.... What was the first tag you ever got?? Staying on the subject here I am so glad you like your tags. I love to give them. Out of the blue and as a surprise is how we do it. Much more fun that way.
My first was Fan Fiction Mod. I had no fun tags before I became a Mod. When I did, I think my first one was a matching set with my good friend evlpez. She was *evil twin* and I was *good twin* The tags changes depending how we were feeling. Quote:

What if I asked nicely? *loving on my Otter* It was a very tough choice for favorite movie, but when I got right down to it, GWTW has been a fav for so long that I had to go with the classic.
Uuhhhhmmm a bushel? Is that how they measure wood?
Oh gosh, I don't know if I can do NANOWRIMO. I will certainly look at it. Definitely if you are in it. Will be there to cheer you on!

Great to meet you Scarlet. Love your name.
I love rocks too! Obsidian is a great one. Did you know that people used to make stone tools from it thousands of years ago? It has properties like glass and a sharp edge is thinner and sharper then any modern scalpel. It's true
I got interested in archaeology because I love history and studying people. Archaeology is the study of the things people leave behind and I always have had this thing where I just love to wonder where an item has been. Who has it been touched by? Why is it here? Rocks were of interest to me, particularly things like obsidian, because I studied early humans who made tools from it. Quote:

I can definitely agree on Draco being misunderstood. For most misunderstood, I'll have to go with the probably the most common answer - Severus Snape. I always knew there was more to him and that he was not literally evil. Maybe not a nice person, but I knew he was on the right side.
Hmmmmmm... I'm not sure I can pinpoint exactly when I became a fan. As a kid, my family was NY baseball fans. We watched the Yankees and the Mets somewhat equally. When I got older (in my late teens?) I chose the Yanks as my favorite. Quote:

'Lo, Lissy!
Which author would you deem to be the one that makes you think the most while reading a book of theirs, in the literature world, outside Rowling? To explain myself - one of the characters - or the author him/her-self - sets a question which gets you troubled and start pondering over it. In other words, literature thinking?

So, I've noticed you're a Yankees fan.
I haven't said anything because, personally, I fancy myself a little Red Sox..
And yes, surprise tags are fun to receive, so thanks! I love mine
Oooh, I think archaeology is just fascinating.
I wanted to be a paleontologist for the longest time, but really, I have an interest in anything related to history.
I actually have some snowflake obsidian, it's gorgeous.
So, question time, if you were allowed only three items to place in a time capsule, what three would you pick to represent today's (21st century) culture?

Lissy,
Newbie here (and so it seems, an older newbie), let's go a different route, you have 2 children, what will be the right time for your oldest child to read/watch Sorcerer's Stone? My oldest started at 10, and I have 2 more that will be "reading" before "watching", several years from now. Go Bears!!

Anywho. My question is: out of all the user groups/jobs you've had on SS, what's been your favorite color-d group? Does that make sense? RoRo! Lissy comes from Lisa when it is made up by a 2 year old. My niece would call me Lissy pronounced like LeeSee. I don't know who decided to spell it like Lissy. But it was on my birthday cake like that one year and that was the start of that!
My favorite colored group, huh? I have had a few different ones, I admit. I really liked the SuperMod pink we used to have. I think now I am most comfy in lovely basic black. Also it scares Lizzie. Quote:

I would want to live in a place that never gets too terribly hot or too cold. Definitely no snow. Perpetual spring/mild summer/fall. Do you know where that is?
In my neighborhood I want my dear SSers of course. I need you near by, dear Otts. Just a few houses over so I can watch Teddy fire the cannons without furniture falling over (I always picture Mary Poppins). Plus I'll be visiting to bug you from time to time.
Favorite genre is easier then picking a favorite author. Hands down - Historical Fiction. Little romance too. (Hence GWTW hehe). But in the genre I adore Diana Gabaldon. Quote:

Must put it on the (growing) list. Quote:

I absolutely love Sapphire!! Snowflake obsidian is second, along with Amethyst I think I love sapphire best too. It is my birthstone. I must say though, I do like to look at all pretty colored sparkly stones. hehe Quote:

That's a really good question. I feel like I should think of a really classic piece of literature to say, but right now I can't. I probably can, but between kids and work my reading is often light these days.
That being said, I mentioned Diana Gabaldon before and I will again. The basic underlying story of her Outlander series involves a character who has traveled through time. Once there she falls in love with a people doomed to defeat. Do you try to change what you know will happen? Should you try? Is it right even if it saves someone you love? An ethical dilemma. This is only one of the many questions that comes up in that series. Love it. Quote:

So, I've noticed you're a Yankees fan.
I haven't said anything because, personally, I fancy myself a little Red Sox..
And yes, surprise tags are fun to receive, so thanks! I love mine
Oooh, I think archaeology is just fascinating.
I wanted to be a paleontologist for the longest time, but really, I have an interest in anything related to history.
I actually have some snowflake obsidian, it's gorgeous.
So, question time, if you were allowed only three items to place in a time capsule, what three would you pick to represent today's (21st century) culture? The DVD release is coming soon! Check out the news! I just pre-ordered my copy from Amazon.
Red Sox! I tease! I'm not a real trash talker fan.
I am so glad you love your tags.
I still love the fields of archaeology and human paleontology but sadly I am not very up on the topics any more. But we can always read!
Hmmmm three items I think would represent today, huh? Good one and tough. 1) a computer 2) a cell phone 3) a credit card. Maybe those aren't very deep or meaningful items or very flattering to our culture really. But take a cross section of anyone you see on the street and I bet almost everyone has at least one of those items on their person. At all times. Quote:

Would I sound terrible to say that my older daughter saw SS at age 2? Can't say she understood it, but yeah. She had a fascination for Draco in CoS.
As for reading it, not yet. Her skills are not there yet, but I think 10 sounds like a great age. I think it's awesome your kids will read before watching. I wish I could say we can hold out, but alas they've seen them thanks to cable TV. We'll foster reading a new series when we can.
Bears, huh?
