Alongside your regular meet thread this month in the newbie forum we have Holmesian Feline who is our official Shriek week winner and is thus the Shriek of the Week for February!


Without further ado I give you Holmesian Feline!

I've been a member here for over 10 years, having joined in October 2006 with my namesake student character and I've enjoyed it ever since. Originally a Gryffindor, I've swung to my other house of Ravenclaw in the last couple of years. I am currently the shopkeeper of Slug and Jiggers Apothecary as well as Head of Security in the Wizarding World rp. Not to mention formerly Gryffindor quidditch captain and prefect as well as officers in various fan clubs over the years.

Outside of SS, I'm a book-loving librarian who loves animals, especially cats and owls, and being creative.

So feel free to ask about more to get to know me. Just remember to be Snitchseeker appropriate!

You say you love being creative, in what way is this? With writing, or art, or filmmaking? Or other?

Hello!

Many things. I'm an amateur writer, working on one or more novels. I also draw, paint, color and do other assorted crafts.

I absolutely love to travel. London would have to be my top priority. But I also want to get to Germany, Austria and Italy.

Tough one. I think I might have to go with Sheriff of Nottingham at the top.

Yep! I'm a public librarian. I work mostly with teens and adults.

My favorite part would have to be connecting a patron with books or movies that they were either looking for in the first place, or needed suggestions of that they wound up loving. Its nice to make people happy.

Acting like someone I'm not. I have this bad charrie on another site for the sole purpose as to drain any negativity out of myself. At least when he gets to be played.

I have mixed feelings. Mainly because I feel if there was a time-turner to go that far back, they should have gone and changed certain things. Like kill Voldemort when he was younger. Or at least protect the Potters/Longbottoms better.

1. Snape...Snape...Severus Snape. With Minerva following close behind.

2. Gah! Three things would not be enough. Hmm... A way of starting a fire for cooking, boiling water and warmth. The complete works of Sherlock Holmes for reading entertainment. Oh and a satellite phone to call for help and be tracked and rescued.

3. Tea all the way. Coffee is BLEAGH!

4. Another tough one. Umm...if I have to chose.

5. Writer/Publisher. So I can read, write, and maybe keep some of the more horrid books from getting published.

I do. Although I'v only managed to read one of Percy Jackson. But I do like Hunger Games and I'm a big fan of the quartets and duologies of Tamora Pierce. And then there's Robin Cook's series with Laurie Montgomery/Jack Stapleton and Laurie R. Kings Mary and Sherlock Holmes series. Just to name a few .

Hello...meanie. Making me chose *grumbles*

But since I have to...I pick Brett. Not only because of his tone, look and mannerisms but because he's working with the correct time period, saying Doyle's words and surrounding by a cast of characters that really round him out. Edward Hardwicke as Watson, Rosalie Williams as Mrs.Hudson, Charles Gray as Mycroft, Colin Jeavons as Lestrade and Eric Porter as Moriarty are awesome.

Rathbone and Cumberbatch tie for number two and great but they have the time period and feel, and the studio's desire to use the films as war propaganda in Basil's case against them. Its just not the same without hansom cabs and London fog. Not to mention Cumberbatch couldn't even say the immortal lines "You've been to Afghanistan, I presume."

McKellan was good, but for that time period, I love Laurie R. King's series so it doesn't fit my imagining of things.

Lee was also good, but the fact that he also portrayed Mycroft and Henry Baskerville to other works kinda dilutes his portrayal of Holmes. Not that seeing a really tall Mycroft called on the carpet by a tiny Queen Victoria isn't amusing.
