2013: Meet BanaBatGirl

Hi hello hi how are you? I'm Roro, and I'm your 'meet the mod' person for the month. As you can see by my sparkly black username though, I'm actually an SS administrator! I'm the head of the School RPG and I'll likely be sorting a LOT of you lovely people very, very soon.

So what's there to ask me.... hmm, I've been on SS for about 6 and half years now (!wow!), and I've done pretty much all the jobs since then. Haha. I've been a Quidditch Captain in the school RPG; a professor of Herbology; a student several times over; a professor of Care of Magical Creatures; and now I'm the Headmistress!

In the Ministry RPG, I've been a division head; an employee; a Department Head; and now I'm back to being an employee. In the Diagon Alley RPG, I've been a shopkeeper, an assistant, the Daily Prophet Editor-in-Chief, and just a good ol' DP writer. All our RPGs are a lot of fun, especially if you enjoy writing like I do.

Whew. Not related to the RPGs, I've modded the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes section of the site and the Quibbler. I'm also pretty active in the Madame Malkin's and Leaky Cauldron forums aaaaaand I can answer most of your questions about everywhere else on the site.

In real life, I teach high school English and hang out with my frenz and family. Instead of my telling you everything, though, why not throw some questions at me? We've got ALLLLLL MONTH together! And then the Sorting will start. I will give you a cookie if you ask me something!

1. I WAS SORTED INTO HUFFLEPUFF! As you well know. Hehe. NOW I do agree with my placement. I am super hardworking, loyal, loveable, caring, good-looking, humble. Of course I am a Puff.

2. Yeah no, I wanted to be a Ravenclaw. Lol. Back then I was in a really close race for class valedictorian and I wanted it SO BAD ughhhh I thought I was so Ravenclaw. I couldn't BELIEVE I was a puffer! DumbledoRO looked HORRID in gold! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BLUE! But even back then, on my Sorting quiz I said that I was only intelligent because I was well read and I worked at it. So it's really the work thing that it all boils down to, for me at least. I don't always work smart but I do work hard.

1. I WOULD BUY A CORVETTE STINGRAY. Ugh that's a lie. I'd WANT to but I'd be SO CAUTIOUS about it that the first thing I would do is set up some sort of super secret bank account, possibly in the Cayman Islands. And then I'd sit on my money and think of what to do next.

2. Pirates. Because... Orlando Bloom. Also, I know more about pirates than I do ninjas? Ninjas are so secret. Pirates wear tri-cornered hats. Pirates. Arrrrrrgh.

3. Hehe that's a good question. I was Batgirl twice! That was a pretty good costume. I was BatMAN when I was 4! That was an amazing costume, as my memory recalls. However, I think Katniss Everdeen has been my coolest costume, because I put it together 100% from thrift shopping or clothing I already owned; I learned a new hair-do in my character research (); and also my students loved it.

4. I think I do my left, usually. o_O NO WAIT, right. No wait, left. Waaaaaait... I used to know the answer to this... the answer is.... yes.

1. Oh wow, hard question. Probably... Rapunzel? She was my first-ever charrie, and I didn't really know what I was doing, so... yep, that was me. She's just much, much blonder and more enthusiastic about sports (ie quidditch) than I am.

3. To fly an airplane or a helicopter! I went on my first plane in May and I loved it like I knew I would. I'd love to get my own pilot's license one day. Or buy a Corvette Stingray, whichever comes first.

1. I DO! You guys are so much fun and it's so much easier to like meet people and not worry about being a creeper adult ruining the kids' fun like the Headmistress tends to do.

2. THE DARK KNIGHT. I almost said Skyfall but I just.. I have TDK memorized. I'm loyal to the Batman.

3. I don't, usually, because 1) cops 2) state highway patrolmen 3) cops 4) speed limits 5) other drivers 6) the price of gas. So they ruin all the fun. But SOMETIMES I do. When I can zone out and NOT worry about getting in trouble, I love it. I think I'll enjoy driving even more when I'm a little old lady and I can go like 35 in a 55 and make all those young hooligans zoom around me. *cackles*

1. Haaaaaa I don't know. They're some kind of crazy combination of people I know, people I want to know, and/or people I think are awesome. I think? Oh, and a good sprinkling of me in there too I suppose.

4. Aww I have to say I love the friends I've made here. EVERYONE IS FRIENDLY. And warm. And friendly. And not at all as scary or creepery as I once thought you all would be. That's something I also like about the Potter fandom? Some fans of stuff are like, waaaaay out there, like Trekkies. They're hardcore. But Potter kids? They're like, my age! We're kind of a generation of our own!

5. Hahahah my advice is to just play it cool, stick around, get involved in things, volunteer as tribute, and you'll get noticed. Trust me, that's how I got dragged into this mess.

Well I did think there'd be more newbies in here! LOL

1. The students crack me up. Every day. They really give me hope, idk, it's hard to explain.

2. 0 is a pretty amazing number. He has a l0t 0f friends. Especially 0ther 0s, y0u kn0w? Als0 0 is like the letter O which is 0ne 0f my fav0rite letters!

3. Psh I'd totally be all over that kitchen, that Prefect bathroom even if I WEREN'T A PREFECT, and the Puff common room. And I'd make regular trips to the library. And the grounds. And maybe the charms floor too, because interesting things just happen around there! Like the Weasley swamp!

1. Ooh. Haha. You can ask... some of my fellow admins this one about me, but sometimes I have a hard time keeping a cool head. Not that I'm necessarily irrational, but when I am angry with someone, I kind of want that someone to know. And an administrator should really always play it cool. So I've got to cool off my hothead sometimes.

2. Awwwwww this one is hard, so hard, but I think... man there's a couple. LOL. My first favorite RPG moment is the first time I stayed up til midnight and got to volunteer for a potions class. Idk why my character (and I!) were so excited about having the draught of living death tested on her, but that is one memory that sticks out for sure. I can still remember the butterflies? HAHA. And also, birthday invasions. I had several really crappy birthdays in a row, but then I'd come on SS and feel all the love and it just made my whole day better.

3. :O JUST THIS SUMMER?! Well I can't hold it against you. Laila only just watched it this summer too. Did you guys watch it together?! Um Christian Bale is easily my favorite Batman. I think he always will be. He's just such a good actor, and actually really believable as both Bruce Wayne AND Batman. Not all the other Batman actors played both sides of him well.

1. YES THEY ARE MY FAVORITE!!!!! EEEEEK! Hehe. I guess I can't count Lana Del Rey, Florence + the Machine, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, or Lorde as bands, since they're all just singers... so I'll go with ONEREPUBLIC. I used to be a huge fan of theirs til I bought one of their CDS thinking it was the deluxe version AND IT WAS NOT. But I am still a fan. A very in denial fan. :3

I was first introduced to HP when my uncle gave my siblings and me the first three books for Christmas! And I eventually read them and was so hooked on the first one that I stayed up WAAAAAY past my bedtime to read them.

I was really against him as Batman at first, and now I still sorta am, just because I don't want them to mess up the storyline they polished off nicely in the The Dark Knight trilogy. But I trust in Chris Nolan and I hope this movie will be epic and you know, Ben is not Bale, but he's not bad either.

1. Personally, I gotta stick with Hufflepuff. They seem to have the most well-rounded qualities, you know? And they're the House with the least bias. Idk. I like being a Puff.

2. Sure! All you do is click on the Sorting news story, which will appear on the left sidebar sometime next week, and then click the questionnaire link which will be underlined, highlighted, etc. etc. The questionnaire is a quick, 10-question "personality" quiz you fill out for either you or your RP character (if you're planning on RPing). I sorta didn't know what I was doing when I took the quiz, so that's why my first RP character was pretty similar to me.

But I do hope you get Sorted and DO RP! SS is so much more interactive, friendly, and fun than Pottermore!

1. Hahahah YES, omg YES I DID. Especially since my nickname Roro came SOLELY out of that old UN! DumbledoRO though what was I thinking lololol. What are you thinking of changing yours to?

2. Ugh I've been thinking about this q ALL DAY and I still don't know. I dislike them all equally? I kind of wish social media had never been invented, yet at the same time, I can admit to using all three platforms at one point or another. The only one I PERSONALLY have and keep updated, though, is Facebook. So meh... three-way-tie.

3. Yes of course! Well all of them except the Bunburys... actually it would be like everyone vs. Anastasia vs. Wes just because he doesn't like people. At all. Usually. Ever.

1. Practice makes perfect! And I think you're doing a good job, actually. Keep it up.

2. I do not. Every now and then if it's on but I am just so far behind from the first few episodes of the series I caught alfjlasdf lol. Maybe I'll catch up on it one summer.

3. I am a nice teacher! Except when students are disrespectful or break rules, then I HAVE to be stern and assign them a detention. I am really bad at keeping a straight face though, when they're acting dumb. I just can't help it. SMILING'S MY FAVORITE.

4. :O I want to meet your Clark Kent look-alike teacher! Do all the girl students have crushes on him? LOL. I WOULD let my class have a tea day! I think that would be a wonderful activity for a Brit Lit class.

5. Hmm I'm not sure what your levels are like, but if they correspond to American high schools, then I would mostly teach level 2? 10th grade? sophomores? 15-16 year olds? I also have some juniors and seniors but their English class is different, as it's all geared toward their chosen field (automotives).

I also love The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo book series AND Game of Thrones book series and TV show. I don't read much YA books anymore because well... they're fairly predictable. But I do try to make an effort for my students to stay up-to-date on popular thiiiings.
