Hello, Hello, Helloooooo! Welcome to SS! My name is Ali, and I'm one of two mods that you'll get to interrogatemeet this month. I'll try to avoid giving too much information in this introductory post, so you can ask stuff (as opposed to me blabbing my life story here  ).
I've been a member of SS for 6 years (as of April 1st), so we can pretend this is some kind of birthday party. Yeah? *places cake on the table for you to take* 
I'm currently the Forums Manager, and have previously held positions in the Language Forums (both as an Arabic Mod and the Languages Manager) and the News Forum. Before that, I was a Ravenclaw Prefect in the school roleplay for a few terms.
In real life, I'm a second year university student with a huge interest in music (and nope, the subject I study is probably the furthest topic away from music). I play the guitar, video games, watch movies anddd....

The most difficult thing to begin with is getting your hands used to the width/feel of the neck. But give it a go, and not necessarily with guitar lessons (I've never bothered with lessons, but there are some really good websites for learning).

Hmm, I think I've always liked the idea of being in two countries at once, so being in your hard drive is a perfect opportunity for me to do that. And I do have goldfish, but I don't get to spend much time with them nowadays. (lol, not that I used to take them for walks or anything like that... XD)

I really like how we're a community type of forum, as there's not many of those around. With regards to parts of SS that I like, the book discussions and WWW are a favourite, but also the Fanfics and Roleplays. Try one out, you might like them! Quote:

Oh, you should definitely try and pick it up. Just learn the sounds of the guitar (ie play ridiculously badly to practice playing, and then you can make it sound good ).
AHAH. That... is a difficult question. XD Ummm, for the sole reason that we've recently covered this, I'd be laughing gas (lmao!). But seriously, tough question!!

I do like travelling, and wish I did more of it. Right now, I'd love to be somewhere warmish. And a place where I could completely zone out.  I'm a huge Linkin Park fan, and their second album got me interested in Meteora, a place I'll hopefully visit sometime.

I like playing combat-y games (but not so much COD!), but I'm up for playing most types of games. Favourite game is Ghost Recon!
The first time I started the guitar, it was probably after hearing Linkin Park's second album. I wanted to be like them, and loved the idea of effortless music ( )... In 2007 I picked it back up as I was stuck at home for a pretty long time. Although, thinking back, LP's third album release contributed to my continual practising. Them and Audioslave.
So in two words why I play the guitar/piano - Linkin Park. Cheesy, but true. Good question!!
