It's Laughter.

umm..professor before you gave your response that allocated 5 points to arkee. i said that you needed both the incantation and laughter in order to get rid of the boggart. i thought that was the correct answer?

-looks at the professor-

"Exactly, Shannon. Five points for Ravenclaw. The power in the Riddikulus spell doesn't lie in your wand waving or your creativity in overcoming the boggart's form. It comes in your ability to laugh at your fear. Each laugh weakens the boggart, and making it change forms repeatedly will confuse it... which is why a group this size is excellent. Finally, it will simply disappear in a puff of smoke. Let's prepare to open the trunk. Go ahead and think of what scares you and take a moment to figure out something funny you can do to it."

umm..professor sorry to bother you but i did say that laughter was what got rid of the boggart. i said that before you first allocated points to arkee.

-thinks of what scares her-

Shannon thinks hard. What is she afraid of most?

In muggle school, she had always been teased, by everyone all the time. Her worst memory is of a time that someone tripped her while carrying her lunch tray and she'd ended up covered in that day's lunch. Everyone in the room, 500 other students, pointed and laughed. A few teachers had even sniggered behind their hands. "How can I make that funny?" she thinks.

And she thinks of it. Shannon smiles and sits up a little straighter in her seat, ready for what was coming.

"I understand your concern, Genie, but you weren't the first to answer the question. Besides that, I asked about the spell, and Arkee's answer was correct."

-knows what what scares her and how to make it funny....sits there staring at the box. . . . . . . .-

Tina thinks about her biggest fear.

oh i thought the spell that you asked for was a mix between the incantation of riddiukulus in addition to the laughter.

::begins to think of what she's afraid of::

"Alright, let's get started. We're going to take turns facing the boggart. I want you to be prepared for what is to come, so I'm going to face it first." She opened the trunk and stepped back. Strangely enough, a smoking cauldron seemed to rise out of the trunk and moved to tip on her. "Riddikulus!" Professor Rae seemed as surprised as the students at the potion cauldron, but she moved calmly. The cauldron turned into a great pitcher of Kool Aid, and she laughed and clapped her hands together.

"Alright... Who's first?"

Rosalita sits, staring at the box, knowing precisely what her worst fear is. How to make it funny... That's the hard part, she thinks. Suddenly, it comes to her and she grins. All right, let me at it...

-AFton waits her turn-

That didn't look too hard, Shannon thinks as she gathers her courage and waits for her turn.

Nadia stepped in front of the class, in front of the trunk. She had already done this, but she never was ready.

A woman came out, but it was faceless, larger than her and even might resemble herself (Nadia) at some point. Other than that, it looked like nothing. There was something sad and despairing about that blank face with no eyes nor mouth. The woman raised her hand... murmurs were heard.... a screaming of some sort sounded on Nadia's ears - her hearts beats quickened....

Think of somethign funny, think of something funny.........

"RIDDIKULUS!"

The woman had one of her legs trapped, upside down, her long ghostly nightgrown was hanging, falling to her head - covering her face -, now displaying old woman red-spotted underwear.

::genie gets in line behind shannon and waits for her turn::

Rosalita stands and gets in line behind Genie, anxiously waiting her turn.

"Excellent, Nadia. Shannon..."

Shannon steps forward. The trunk opens, and out steps something that she hopes can't possibly be real. It seems to be all mouths and pointing fingers, with one pair of feet poking out the bottom of the mass. All fingers point at her, and every mouth echos with laughter. She almost panics, but then she remembers that this is just a boggart, it's trying to scare her. But this thing is almost funny anyway, at least to look at. She furrows her brow, brandishes her wand and cries "Riddikulus!"

Suddenly, the mass of mouths are stuffed with apples, and the fingers are stuck together with chinese finger traps. She chuckles as she takes a step forward, driving it back into the box for the next person.

Well, she thinks, that was almost silly! Except for the laughing...

Tina stands behind Rosalita.

Hermy gets in line at awaits her turn trying to think of something funny.

Nadia stepped out just to see Shannon approach the front of the class. (ooc: oops for the edit you had to do, and sorry for the lateness of my response)

She watched, not completely feeling like laughing, but it surely did its trick the Riddikulus spell did.

"Very impressive use of creativity, Shannon," Professor Rae grinned. "Next up, Genie, followed by Rosalita."

::genie takes a deep breath and steps up to the boggart. it suddenly turns into a large, unattractive looking man, who was balding. he was red in the face and immediately began yelling at genie. genie recognized it as one of her teachers from elementary school prior her to getting her acceptance letter to hogwarts. finally she gathers her courage and points her wand::

riddikulus!

:the man is now in a pink tutu trying rather unsuccessfully to be a ballerina::
