Tucked away in a niche on the far wall of the common room is a nondescript bookcase. At first glance, it appears that all the books on the shelf are arranged in alphabetical order, but upon closer inspection, you’ll notice one book out of place. The book in question is a particularly battered black volume with faded lettering along the spine. Anyone who attempts to pick it up to see where it belongs will soon find it isn’t a book at all!
Touching the black book causes the bookshelf to magically pivot, revealing a secret book nook within. The back wall is lined with shelves full of books on a wide variety of subjects. While the selection isn’t as vast as the school library, it should be enough to tide over even the most voracious bookworm. Several wooden study tables and chairs sit in the middle of the room for those needing a quiet place to do homework. If you’d prefer reading for pleasure instead of academics, there’s a cozy corner of the room stocked with pillows and blankets just for you! So find your favorite read, pull up a pillow or a chair, and get comfy!

One of the best kept secrets of the Ravenclaw common room was definitely this book nook. Having discovered it a couple years ago when looking for a new book, Kartik was here on the weekly finding it the best study places in all of Hogwarts. And maybe sometimes just for some quiet. Removing the battered black book, he waited for the bookcase to pivot before stepping inside over the familiar chair.
Except instead of taking the usual seat, he turned instead to sit cross-legged on the floor by the pillows and blankets. He needed some meditation now, not study time. Maybe even some advice.

Krittika had had every intention of heading up to her dorm to grab her bottle of pink nail polish to apply a fresh coat to her toes when she spotted her twin making his way into the Book Nook. Without another thought, she abandoned her initial goal to follow Kartik instead.
She did all the jazz with the book since by the time she had reached it, the bookcase had already swung shut. Walking as quietly as possible into the room, Krittika scanned it for Kartik. No doubt he would have heard someone entering but he didn’t necessarily know that it was her. Unless he knew her footsteps, which would be quite weird.
Kritti grinned as she spotted him with his back in her direction and began tiptoeing in his direction. She would know that head of hair anywhere. And what sort of sister would she be if she didn’t scare him for a bit? He could always get back into meditation, if that was what he was actually trying to do. “BOO!” The same time she exclaimed, the same time she reached out with both hands to grip his shoulders.

Karti wasn't that deep into his meditation that he hadn't heard the bookcase open. Deep breathing he tried to focus on his own exhales and inhales, not on the intruder. Ravenclaws rarely disturbed one another particularly when it came to quiet moments of studying. It was one of his favorite things on being in this house is the level of concentration he was able to receive without too much effort.
However the moment he heard the exclamation, even though he wasn't normally the jumpy type, but because his sympathetic nervous system was already headed towards the relaxation mode, he jumped.
His fight-or-flight response activated, he stood and whirled around to find the one face that could get away with such an interruption. Instead of an angry remark, he shook his head. "Mum would disappointed in how you enter a room. It's proper to say excuse me."

Krittika giggled the moment Kartik reacted. Such a jumpy person her twin was today. She straightened up, tossing her long, shiny hair over a shoulder. “Aren’t you far more jumpy than a frog right now,’’ she teased. “Are you up to something, bhaiya?” Her eyes narrowed playfully. “Orrr have you already been up to that something, whatever it was?” Kritti knew that the other Ravenclaw hadn't been up to any mischief; she just enjoyed giving the lovely brother a ‘difficult’ time.
“What mum doesn’t know wouldn’t hurt her,’’ she continued cheerfully. Smiling widely so that both of her dimples were on full display, the young woman flopped down on a pillow close to where Kartik had been seated. “Everything okay?” Was something stressing him out, hence the meditation?
