Removing the battered black book, he waited for the bookcase to pivot before stepping inside over the familiar chair.

Except instead of taking the usual seat, he turned instead to sit cross-legged on the floor by the pillows and blankets. He needed some meditation now, not study time. Maybe even some advice.

Krittika had had every intention of heading up to her dorm to grab her bottle of pink nail polish to apply a fresh coat to her toes when she spotted her twin making his way into the Book Nook. Without another thought, she abandoned her initial goal to follow Kartik instead.

She did all the jazz with the book since by the time she had reached it, the bookcase had already swung shut. Walking as quietly as possible into the room, Krittika scanned it for Kartik. No doubt he would have heard someone entering but he didn’t necessarily know that it was her. Unless he knew her footsteps, which would be quite weird.

Kritti grinned as she spotted him with his back in her direction and began tiptoeing in his direction. She would know that head of hair anywhere. And what sort of sister would she be if she didn’t scare him for a bit? He could always get back into meditation, if that was what he was actually trying to do. “BOO!” The same time she exclaimed, the same time she reached out with both hands to grip his shoulders.
