| | Music Therapy Room Image by: Pixie Professor Myers has converted one of the greenhouses into a room devoted to the care and focus of sick or ailing plants. Not only can you test your wits in here to care for a wilting shrub or two, but you can also play any instruments you want in this room. Professor Myers is a firm believer in music therapy not only for people, but for plants, too. He himself is often seen playing his banjo in here when he has a spare moment, humming to himself as he relaxes and soothes the plants around him with his melodies.
Chill out and relax.
This room is warm, bathed in sunlight when it's sunny out, and smells like a typical greenhouse. It's the perfect place to get some private practice in, too, if you play an instrument. No outside food or drink allowed in the greenhouse without permission from Professor Myers, except for water, of course. Anyone is allowed in here to meditate, relax, and look after plants. |

| Professor Myers! Satisfied Neon Lucy was taking advantage of the fact that - per her parents - she was allowed to play her instruments again. As in, bring them to school. It had been awful for her last term, after she was punished, to try and unwind from the stress of OWLs abiding by her parents' wishes despite them being so far away. But Lucy was a good girl and did as she was told.
That punishment scarred her good.
Much happier, she peeked into one of her favorite spots at Hogwarts. She sat cross-legged in the corner and began strumming idly as she thought of a real song to play for the plants.

It didn't take long for Paul to check in on the Music Therapy Room which took up residence in one of the good few Greenhouses Paul had on the Hogwarts' Grounds. He would have taken his time, too, had he not heard some soft strumming coming from within the greenhouse.
He stealthily....peeked inside.
And smiled, because it was Lucy. She looked serene, in that moment, and Paul was content to watch in secret for as long as he could.

| Satisfied Neon Her strumming naturally flowed into song. Here Comes the Sun, to be exact. Because plants.
Lucy played a couple verses before actually singing along, softly. As she played and sang, she smiled up at the plants, looking for a response in the sentient ones. And she thought about her career. And she was happy. So happy.
And completely oblivious to Professor Myers.

" You're making the plants feel very happy, I'm sure," he said softly so as to not startle her TOO much. Not that plants had emotions that worked the same way as human emotions, but Paul wasn't always so scientific, was he?
He clapped three times, slowly, and nodded at Lucy. She looked serene in this moment, and he thought it was a wonderful look for her. "I assume your term is off to a good start, then?" he asked curiously. "Have you taken good care of our little experiment since we've last seen each other?"

Lucy was startled a little, immediately silencing her strings when it became apparent she wasn't only. But she did soften at the voice, even before turning to see who it belonged to. "Thanks," she smiled.
Then grinned wider. "It's going to be the best term," she answered with determination. Then nodded. "I have other ideas. More ideas!"

"Maybe one day you can join my blue grass band." He was joking. What person under 50 IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would want to join the blue grass band? Especially when the youngest person was like...55? or so. "OH, I agree. The best term. Though....every term thus far, concerning my time here, has been pretty good. Except the term with the monster. I..." he shook his head and shivered. "I could have done without that term, as everyone else, probably." Lucy's passion for plants never failed to make him grin. "And I'd like to see your ideas, if you want me to."

Her eyebrows shot up and her grin became forced. "Sure, maybe," she giggled. And while she was completely open and accepting of all music, she did not want to be a part of a bluegrass group. Not right now, at least. And not one that her professor was a part of....
....Um...yeah. Professor Myers' mention of that term made her uncomfortable in a different way. She didn't want to come back after that term. She was angry at the school that term. She just nodded in agreement. Could've done without.
Lucy reddened. "I don't know..." They were probably stupid to a professional like him.

She didn't know? Didn't know what? Whether she wanted to show Paul or ideas or not? Or didn't know her ideas after all? Paul assumed the former, and gave her a look. "Lucy. I thought we were past the point of you....fearing my judgment. You know I think you're a brilliant Herbology student. Your ideas will not be dumb or silly in the least. And, even if I did think so, it's your decisions to make about what projects you work on, not mine. Granted, we should work on something impressive for when you eventually apply to Universities..." that is, if she was still interested, which Paul assumed she was. "So show me them when you're read, m'dear," he said gently. "But I would like to see them." Lucy was only a sixth year. That wasn't loads of time before starting to take applying to Universities seriously, but it was more time than if she were a seventh year, like Oliver.

She was so touched that Paul was so supportive of her, and was so mindful and encouraging of her future. Especially given that Herbology was sort of a secondary plan for her.
That's not to say she wasn't fully committed. She was. This was what she really wanted to do.
She took a deep breath. "I was thinking about music therapy." And they were in a fitting place to bring it up. "..If a plant could play music...." Because, plants were already common hospital gifts. And music therapy was a real thing. And a musical plant would be both!!
She waited a moment to see his reaction, then added, "Musical Mums." .....Maybe.....

It was fitting, though, the music therapy thing, since she was IN the music therapy room. Paul listened to her thoughts with rapt attention. "Would the musical plants be...therapy for people, then?" he asked curiously. It was interesting...and he....was thinking, could feel his wheels turning. "Musical mums?" he blinked a few times, and then he was off, jetting out of the greenhouse and returning mere moments later with a honking daffodil. "We have our friend here," he said softly, and the daffodil, in his little pot, was quiet since everything was well with it. It didn't need water or sun...or nutrients right now. " His honking could certainly be given a melody. With the right...magic, and breeding," he said softly. "If that's what you're thinking?"

Oh, no he was back.
Her face absolutely lit up and she nodded vigorously. "That's exactly what I was thinking!! I've been observing them...to see if there was any correlation between the size of the bloom or thickness of the stem and the pitch they honked!!" She was such a good Herbologist. "But I couldn't find anything... But...magic? Magic them how?" By now she was standing practically over Professor Myers' shoulders to look at the plant.

Paul's smile mimicked hers, all lit up and full of passion for their discussion currently. "I actually don't think their size matters---sometimes the smallest little guys have the LOUDEST honks!" he said, gesturing wildly as he did so.
He was thinking. Wheels...cogs...all turning...and he...hmm.
" I don't know yet. But I feel like...if I just sat down and thought about it a lot, I'd be able to figure it out. Maybe with the right research we can find something...you should stop by my actual office this weekend and help me look through some books. That is, if you don't have too much homework yet." He winked. He'd also be owling some colleagues, too, to see if they had any research or ideas on this. "It can't be too hard...or at least, not to figure out a solution to it. The magic and breeding might certainly be the hard part."

Lucy watched Professor Myers as he spoke, as if he were the most brilliant thing in the world. To her defense, he is the most brilliant Herbology mind she really knows of. She nodded more. She LOVED research! And couldn't wait! She didn't mind hard work at all.
Maybe they'd have to invent a spell! Maybe they could do that!
Or not!
Or whatever! He thought her idea was good and was jumping on persuing it and she felt really passionate about it and so so so so so excited!!!

You can come right in the meeting space and just knock on my door. We can start...after lunch, then? Around...eh, 1?" Paul was excited too. He stroked the petals of the daffodil, pleased that it hadn't started honking yet. "Maybe the end of this year, we will have some....singing flowers," he grinned. "Would...certainly look good on a Uni application," he said as he wiggled his eyebrows.
