It was late. Very late. And a certain first year just could not sleep a wink.
Rayna made her way from the girls dormitories after four hours of trying to get some rest, hoping that by exercising her mind a little it would be enough to settle it down.
She entered the games and crafts area and her eyes gazed instinctively over towards where the video games were. 'Perhaps a couple levels would calm me down.'
Rayna sorted through a few different game systems before deciding with a sigh, "No. Video games won't help with this."
Figuring that, the girl put the game systems back, and then proceeded to rifle through some of the coloring books until she found which seemed to have been designed specifically for relieving stress as you colored in the patterns.
"These should help." Rayna told herself and settled down on some of the cushions, and set up the nicely sharpened colored pencils next to her.

Rayna selected a floral-looking pattern and selected some shades of blues, greens, and yellows and set to work.

"Pretty."

Felicity stood behind the younger girl, looking at the piece she was working on for a few moments before moving over to flick through the colouring books herself. Pulling one out at random, she returned to the cushions near the other girl and sat down herself. "Couldn't sleep, huh?" Flick knew how that felt - hence her own foray out of the dorm during the early hours. It wasn't even like it was jet lag anymore, no: she'd been in Britain since the beginning of summer, now it was just like her body didn't want to cooperate with the timetable Hogwarts was giving her.

Rayna looked over her shoulder and saw an older girl who had spoken to her. "Oh, thank you." She said and watched silently for a moment while the other student retrieved a book of her own and sat down.
Hearing the girl's question, Rayna shook her head. "No. Not at all." Her mind was still working way too hard for this time of night (or morning). She turned back to her own coloring book for a moment and filled in a few more shapes. Once more, her eyes looked to the older girl and she asked, "Same for you? I hope I wasn't the one to wake you..."
She'd tried to be quiet, but maybe her scrounging through the games wasn't as subtle as she thought. After all, it was way past any sensible students' bedtime, and any noise in the late and early hours sounds amplified by the stillness.

Offering a comforting, understanding smile, Felicity didn't press the younger girl any further as to the reason why she was down here at such a time. If there was a reason for not being able to sleep, those kind of reasons were often private, and she didn't even know this kids name.

"Oh, no... I guess I just don't sleep well here," the American said, with a little laugh and a shake of the head. "Don't worry, it wasn't you." It was, of course, sweet of the girl to worry.

"I'm Felicity."

"I'm glad." Rayna said, looking up from her coloring with a sigh of relief. At least she hadn't been the one to wake up another (especially older) student. She'd hate to be on anyone's bad side.

'Felicity.' She'd made a mental note of that by repeating it in her head. "That's a nice name." Rayna said, 'There's a lot of pretty names here.' "It's nice to meet you. I'm Rayna. First year." 'Obviously.' She couldn't help but think. It wasn't like the kid was particularly tall or anything. In fact, she had always been a bit on the scrawny side.

Rayna brought her attention back to her coloring book for a moment, then bit her lower lip and asked, "Was it hard getting used to this school?" Hopefully Felicity wouldn't mind being asked any questions.

Absently picking up a blue pencil and filling in some abstract shapes, Felicity smiled to the younger girl at her relief. It was sweet of her to worry, really. "You have a lovely name, too. I'm a fourth year." She'd assumed the girl was second or first year already, but she was glad to know her assumptions had been right, and therefore she wouldn't have offended an older student for looking young.

As for the next question Felicity frowned, spending a few more moments colouring in before raising her head to answer. "It's... I mean, I still am getting used to it," she said with a wry smile. A few months. It was a long time, but still not long enough.

Rayna swept a couple loose strands of hair away from her eyes and looked at Felicity, "So it isn't a weird name?" Her voice sounded dead serious. She'd always thought it was. Never had she ever heard of another girl with the same name. "Makes it hard to get souvenir key-chains. I know that much." Or anything for that matter. She made a soft noise, possible a tiny snort of laughter.

At least she knew now that not every student took it like a fish to water. The girl bit her lip again, almost to the point of breaking the skin. "I thought-" She stopped briefly and realized that she'd messed up her color patterns. Rayna let out a low, frustrated growl and erased her off-colored shapes, and started to try again. "I thought I'd..." She wrinkled her forehead and rubbed her eyes, "I thought I'd be handling it better. The being away from home thing." How had her brothers made it sound so easy? It was like they couldn't wait to get back to school!

Felicity shook her head and chuckled a little at Rayna. "Trust me, Felicity isn't that easy to find on key chains, either," she couldn't help but muse, realising that her Dad had always gotten her things specially embossed. "It's not weird at all, it's unique. No one'll forget it, or get you muddled up." You know, if it wasn't enough that she had a really pretty name.

"I... I got used to Ilvermorny," she managed, her own turn to bite down on her bottom lip. "I think... Moving here has been harder than getting used to going to boarding school, you know?" What with the fact that, even if her dads said her home was now London, she felt that home was still North Carolina. "But... With boarding school, you do get used to it. When you get good friends..." She wouldn't mention all of the crazy stuff Nathan had told her about the school. Maybe that was another reason she couldn't get used to the place.

"True." Was all Rayna could think to reply. Looking down at her page in the coloring book, she realized that nearly all the shapes were colored. How did that happen so quickly?

"You went to Ilvermorny? Wait is - this your first year here, too?" She asked, suddenly not interested in the few empty shapes on the page in her book. Ah. Family move. 'That's always hard.' Not that Rayna would know. She and her family had been in the same house since she'd been born.
"What was it like there?" Rayna asked, "I haven't heard much about it. I mean - I know it exists obviously. But I never heard much...nobody in my family went there."
The girl should learn to count her blessings more, and nodded at Felicity's mention of friends. "Yes. They do help." 'A lot.' "Everyone that I've met here so far has been very friendly. Like an extended family."

On the contrary to Rayna, Felicity's absent-minded colouring had led to very few shapes being filled in, in colours so random that the picture was no longer comprehensible. She tilted her head to the side to see if it made any improvement, which - of course - was of no help whatsoever.

Twisting the ring on her right index finger around, the American nodded at the younger girls question nervously. "Yeah, we moved to London at the beginning of summer." So she was just as lost around here as the first year, if not more: people her age had their friendships and their groups and it was really difficult trying to fit in. And the IMPS was seriously not helping. "I.. I guess it's not as big or fancy as it is here, and the food is different. Everything seems more... Serious here," she shrugged. "Less laid back." About school work, and the exams. But, at the same time, people were way less dramatic.

"You're totally right... I mean, I wouldn't say 'family' just yet," Flick said with a small smile, genuine warmth towards Rayna. "But it's true that everyone is, like, really lovely."

"That is hard." Rayna said, she certainly had no room to complain about just missing her parents. Moving to another country entirely would be entirely overwhelming.
"Where in London do you live?" She asked. Now curious as to where her schoolmate's home was. Maybe make her feel better now. "My family lives in Hampstead. It's part of Camden. I love it there. Lots of things to see...quite a charming area if I'm being honest." Truthfully, Rayna couldn't see herself living anywhere else. At least for the next, maybe, ten years or so.
She couldn't help but smile at Felicity's comments about Hogwarts , and Rayna'd completely stopped filling in her page with colors at this point. "Hogwarts seems fancy? Well, I suppose living in a castle is a bit elaborate." The girl actually let out a chuckle. She hadn't considered how it must seem to others before.... The fact that students are housed for most of the year, and attend classes in a rather ancient castle.

Rayna gave a small nod, "Mhm. I've yet to meet someone that has been rude. Even the students in the other houses are nice." She felt a warmth come over her, realizing that, yes, she was pretty lucky to be in such a place. "My best friend is from another house actually. Gryffindor." Had she just said that? A sudden realization came to her and her eyes widened a little bit. But her expression quickly softened again. 'Hm. Guess I hadn't considered that until now.'

Felicity shrugged: there was nothing she could do about the situation, so she really had to stop moaning about it and feeling sorry for herself. Just not in the early hours of the morning. Maybe tomorrow. "Erm, Mayfair I think it's called? It's by High Park?" That was what it was called, wasn't it? Except maybe high was spelt with a Y? Or maybe Flick was completely wrong.

"Have you always lived there?" Not that she knew where there was, but she was sure she could find it on one of the many tube maps she'd collected. Of course, with two magical fathers, Flick didn't exactly need a tube map, but there was something about them that she appreciated.

Well, Felicity had definitely met one rude person, and she flushed at the memory. She wouldn't, however, mention the run in with the younger Way sibling. No, she didn't want to look like she was a horrible person herself, judging anyone she didn't see eye to eye with. "That's cool. I've mainly just met people from Slytherin."

"Oh, yeah, I know Hyde Park." Rayna said, feeling a little more upbeat. "My family and I sometimes go there in the summer. When everyone was home." IF her brothers came home, that is. "They have concerts there in the park sometimes. Might be fun checking out after school is done."

Rayna nodded, "Yeah, I've always lived in Hampstead. Same house, since I was born." She had completely forgotten about her coloring by now, 'Now that I think about it....' "I've never really been to too many places. We mainly just stay close to home." Aside from Hogwarts, Rayna hadn't been to many places that were very exciting. "Have you done a lot of traveling?" Must be nice if she had.

The first year couldn't help but notice, "You OK?" She asked Felicity, and tipped her head a little to one side. Rayna was sure she had seen something, but "Mhm. Same. Mostly from this house. I hope to meet a lot more, though."

Oh. So she had been wrong about the Park's name. Felicity flushed a little, glad, however, that Rayna hadn't pulled her up on her mistake. For that, she really did appreciate the younger girl. "Concerts?" her blush faded, replaced by a look of curiosity in her eyes. "That sounds really cool." And like definitely something she wanted to do if she didn't return to the states that summer.

"No, I mean... Other than Carolina, I went to New York, once, and St. Barts a few times... And then just the Lake District and London, this side of the pond." Although, at the risk of sounding like a spoilt brat, and as much as she loved North Carolina, St Barts was somewhere she could get used to going to. Every few years, anyway.

Felicity offered Rayna a little shake of her head, a smile creeping up her lips. "I'm fine, honestly." At this hour, she didn't really feel like discussing Nathans sister, nor did Rayna want to hear about the fourteen year old's drama. "I'm sure we will, it's only early in the year.
