| | | Common Room Thanks to Joel/Charely Potter
SO you've remembered the password, and you've climbed through the portrait hole... WELCOME TO THE GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM!
The rounded room greets you, with a welcoming warmth from the fireplace, maintained by the House Elves. Opposite to the portrait hole is the fireplace, with more squishy armchairs than you could ever use. There's cushions and blankets draped over the back, with small coffee tables scattered around. To one side of the fireplace is the staircase to the boy's dormitories, and the opposite side hosts the stairs to the girl's dormitories. REMEMBER boys that if you try to sneak into the girl's dorms, the staircase will turn into a slide, barring your entry.
Feel free to use your common room for whatever you wish! You might like to chill out on the couches by the fireplace, or if you're in a more up-beat mood you might fancy a game or two in the games area, where you can be as loud and raucous as you like (thanks to some noise blocking charms). On the opposite hand, if you're in need of a good area to study, there's always the study area which is protected with a silencing charm. START OF TERM PARTY!
OOC: Below is Term 45's Start of term PARTY! It's a Paint Balloon fun!mess!chaos! This event will go for approximately 2 OOC weeks, starting NOW (January 4) and finishing approximately January 18. Art will post an official conclusion to the party at this time.

Genny did not think he'd agree to her silly request, but he did! She grinned and lifted up her arms lazily. "Hell, no piggyback, I'm not two." So, the other option was much better. Was he going to be able to hold her though? Because she was not heavy but she had quite some muscles from Quidditch, so she did look a little bigger than her peers. She was not self-insecure though so if they fell, it would be just a hilarious moment to cherish and write about in the memory book in her seventh year. Levi was grinning from ear to ear at the entire situation because, well--he wasn't actually sure why but it was very, very funny. Genny Tate was funny, too. Or maybe it was that she looked like the sort of person who said whatever came to her mind without any reservations.
Anyway, sugar highs were something else.
Probably going to crash soon, too.
He considered his options. Then he bent down and slipped one arm in the space between her back and the couch and the other around the bend in her knees.
The boy brought himself back up, Genny Tate included, though not without visible effort. He tested his balance. It was fine. Maybe? Last time he'd held someone it'd been Althea and though athletic, Althea was for sure slighter. "Uuh, Genny Tate--" He began, looking down, realizing too late she was probably too close or he was probably too close. HMMM. His head tilted to one side and one of his eyebrows quirked up. "--you are heavier than I thought."

Truth be told, Nick hadn't been seen roaming about the castle much these days. The portal and its energy made him anxious, which was why he had found refuge in the Spirit Room with the other ghosts -- besides Myrtle who insisted she stay in her bathroom in spite of everything. Though, with the recent disappearance of three boys (none of his Gryffindors, thank goodness), the ghost felt like he needed to keep an eye on his cubs and help in any way he could.
Perhaps they would be entertained (and distracted) if he told them about the magical mishap that got him nearly headless? It was a grand old story that he hadn't told in a while. "Good evening, my dear lions!" he said warmly as he floated through the wall. His ghostly eyes then stopped at lad giving one of the lasses a fireman's carry. "I do not believe that is proper etiquette for the common room, Mister Kenning and Miss Tate."

The effort was noticed, but Genny didn't care for that, she was actually pretty smug about making someone laugh. Sam never laughed at her jokes, and Aslan doesn't talk unless absolutely life-or-death situations necessary.
Grinning, "Now now is that a way to talk to a lady? It's all my--" she was going to make another joke when Nearly Headless Nick floated in. "Hi, sir Nicholas!" She greeted, genuinely happy to see the ghost. He'd given her a tour of the castle in her first year and both were good friends since. "Oh, we're just plaaaaaying. Right, Levi?" She laughed and held on to Levi's neck as her legs wiggled to be lowered to the floor. The poor guy was going to hurt his back. |

| Nick and Genny Tate. :3 Wowza! Aaaaand busted.
Well, in a manner of speaking anyway.
Levi's grin went from Genny Tate to the Gryffindor ghost, going from slightly smug to slightly sheepish. He supposed it was a bit of a compromising position to be found in, but the fifth year wagered it could have been worse. More than that, Levi was for sure that in all of Nick's time in the school he had doubtlessly seen and heard worse. Gryffindors students had historically always found very inventive ways to pass the time. Among other things.
As he lowered Genny Tate down, Levi did manage to cackle a little bit. "Hey, Sir Nicholas." The cackle did become a bit of a groan, because his back was inclined to some more protests. "Genny Tate is very right." It was all very innocent. "Even if my back disagrees. How is it going for you? We are all dying over here. Never knew boredom could be a terminal illness." Maybe he was being a little insensitive. "Uuuuhh, no offense or anything."

Though carrying each other around in the common room was unpractical, Nick couldn't help but smile down at them. Yes, he knew the antics of Gryffindors. He was quite grateful that he hadn't walked in on something worse, given the recent confinement that most lions did not respond well to. Heaven forbid they turned the place into a swamp or let fire crabs roam about freely.
His smile did waver slightly at Levi's choice of words. Dying ... boredom ... terminal illness. The ghost did not believe those were appropriate ways to describe their situation. They were alive and well. "It could be worse," he responded reasonably. "You could have been hit forty-five times in the neck with a blunt axe."
Setting that conversation aside, he focused on the boy's question. "I've been doing well, taking everything going on into consideration. The other ghosts and I have been keeping to the Spirit Room on the fifth floor. The amount of energy we have been sensing is just unnerving."

Alice made her way to the common room, the seats near the fireplace were always the most comfortable. This script was long and it kept changing. Rewrites were apparently a thing on a big film like this. There was a lot of non-script things she had to learn as well.
But that was for August and for now there was Hogwarts and the monster to think about. The redhead was concerned with the safety of her brother and friends in other houses. When would there be a year where students at Hogwarts could just learn and not worry about their safety?
Whatever.. After a few minutes of reading Diaval flew after her as she knew he would and landed on the arm of her chair. "Hi, Pretty bird."

| Open post! Let your light shine || Be the sun || You're important. Always.
Noelle entered the common room and took a look around. Her heart was racing. Her mood shifted. She reaaaaally wished she could have a butterbeer right now.
Knowing she couldnt sit right now, she paced in front of the fire. She'd give Olly enough time to get to his common room before sending him a birdie. And she already knew Althea and Declan were safe. Her eyes found Ava. Good. Noah... she hadnt heard from. That worried her. What if the monster got him?? .... She wasnt going to think about that right now.
What could she think about?
She twirled her wand, her mind on one thing... the monster. The loose monster in Hogwarts, with his teeth and claws. Not to mention the speed.
The fire crackled as she paced in front of it. Where the house elves scared to move around the castle?? Did they even know about the monster. Be careful.
[UPDATE]
Hearing the announcement from the headmistress, Noelle didn't even stop to think. She headed out of the common room in a sprint.
