Ariadne was...petrified. Why? She didn't exactly know, but what she did know was that it had more to do with the fear of failure than the fear of the duel itself. She'd never done this before. She'd watched loads of spells being casted and even cast a few herself. In an organized duel, though? Never. She gulped and stepped into the arena. "Hii, Kat!" she said, letting her co-firstie know that she didn't mean any harm and that this was all in good fun. She faced her opponent, bowed, and then began the duel.

Well, time to tell if Kat had ANY defense skills to her whatsoever. Ariadne decided to start off with a spell that could end the duel right here and now if Kat didn't know how to defend herself properly. "Expelliarmus!" she said, waving her wand in a downward spiral. She didn't cast a second time but kept her wand at the ready to be prepared for whatever Kat would do next.

She had to admit that her adrenaline was now pumping and whatever nerves she had when this whole thing started were slowly starting to melt away. On one hand, her mind was racing with all the spells she knew and wanted to try, but at the same time, she kind of got the impression her mind was completely blank, and she no longer remembered anything she'd ever been taught. ...and now the nerves were coming back again. She blinked then focused her attention forward to see if her spell would work.

Oh no. It was Kat's first duel. Yes. She was nervous. She liked Ariadne and didn't want to hurt her. Why did she sign up for dueling club again? She just had to remind herself that it was just for dueling club and practice to defend herself and if she ever had to duel someone for real. She smiled at Ariadne. "Hey Ariadne, good luck." She bowed and turned to her spot.

What was she suppossed to do? How to duel? Oh Merlin where was Phillip. She needed him and his most dramatic dueler self here now. Take a deep breathe Delgado, you got this. Saying spells in her head. Spells that she knew. She blinked and quickly made the wand movement and shouted "Protego! Defecting it back to the slytherin. PHEW THAT WAS CLOSE. Following up her turn she tried sneaking in a quick, "Rictusempra!" Was Ariadne ticklish?

She stood breathing quickly waiting for Ariadne to make her next move. She calutalted her next move in her head. She was now in full dueling mode. Phillip wasn't the only dramatic dueler in the family. Haha.

Ariadne was ON FIRE NOW! Sure, she'd only cast ONE spell, but she'd actually gotten started, and in her very first duel, that was GOOD. Kat had wished her good luck, though, and had Ariadne had time, she would have done the same. At least they both knew they were starting out on a positive note toward one another.

Her opponent started off with a Shield Charm to protect herself from Ariadne's casting. The spell was coming right back at her, too, along with a Rictumsempra. MERLIN. Kat was good! Ariadne was left with no other choice but to cast the Shield Charm herself. "Protego!" she called out, making a slashing motion with her wand.

A shield formed around her, and since Ariadne hadn't thought ahead on what she wanted to cast next, the spell hadn't been sent right back to Kat. Thinking fast, Ariadne came up with a spell that would be HILARIOUS if it hit Kat. "Tarantallegra!" she called out. She whipped her wand in a crooked, upward hill motion.

Take that, Kat!

Roderik couldn't help but smile a little at the friendliness between these two duelists. It was probably a good thing for them because dueling against someone you care about would probably be one of the hardest duels you'd have to face. So, why not get them prepared for that, eh? It certainly explained his thinking behind some of the other duels between the older kids.

But for this one, he eyed his watch every now and then and, when the time came to a close, he cast up a shield to stop the dancing spell from hitting Miss Delgado. "That was a short but sweet duel, Miss Greingoth and Miss Delgado. Well done!" Smile. "You've put up a great fight, Miss Greingoth but right now, Miss Delgado takes the win for the duel. Congratulations!"
