Herbology Lesson I - Grafting As the students enter the greenhouse today, it is a warm reprieve from the cold that engulfed them outside. The sun was shining, and Paul was sitting atop a table in front of the greenhouses, his gloves next to him as he waited, calmly, for people to enter. SPOILER!!: Lesson Progression |
Rachel literally skipped her way down to the Greenhouses for yet another Herbology lesson. She had no doubt in her mind that this would be a wonderful one. Oh! Hello, little bubble! She giggled as the bubble closest to her popped on her nose. "Hello, Professor Myers.'' She smiled up at the always happy man. "I hope I find you well.'' She glimpsed around the Greenhouse trying to get a hint of what they would be studying today. She noted the young trees at the back and was quite tempted to go examine them. Really, she was itching to do so. Fortunately, Professor Myers reminded her and everyone else there to gather into a circle. They would be starting with meditation as usual. |
Herbology! Yay! Davie always looked forward to this class as it was one of his best... with SUCH a great professor, too. He didn't even mind all the meditating so much anymore. It could be helpful sometimes... some days... knowing some of the individuals in his class... "Hi, Professor Myers!" Davie greeted the man cheerfully as he walked in. He sort of grinned at the bubble floating past him but didn't give it a poke or anything like that. Instead he just focused on getting settled into his usual work spot, and then joining the circle. Oh. Rachel had just gotten here too. "Hiiii," he greeted her a little shyly. |
Olivia was buddled up in proper work clothes for the latest Herbology lesson. Boy was it chilly outside but thankfully nice and warmer when she finally stepped inside the greenhouse for today's class. "Good morning, Professor," she greeted the man sitting on the table up front. Yeah...circle. She had been taken back by that tradition and others but rather enjoyed it now. A nice way to start the class and get them all on the same page sort of speak. Even if she hadn't given or received a flower herself. The first year moved to deposit her bag off to one side before taking a spot around the circumference of the would-be circle. "Hey..." she greeted Rachel. Oh look...bubbles, she thought with a smile before she closed her eyes to gather herself into some sort of meditation. |
No it wasn't but Dante hated the circling up part of Herbo anyway whatever the lesson was. Even though he did like Professor Paul. It was a conundrum that he has yet to solve over the year and whatever months it has been since he became the Herbo Prof. How where they suppose to clear their minds if he was yelling at them to clear their minds. Plus the bubbles did not help. He popped a bubble before greeting Professor Paul. "Hey Professor Paul, are these bubbles really necessary?" They were not in primary school anymore. Unless Dante was still 8 and dreaming of being at Hogwarts. Nah he had experienced to much that his 8 year old self would never imagine. Who wants to circle up with the slytherin giving death glances. Anyone? |
Haddie laughed as she entered the greenhouse and reached out to catch a bubble. Myers always made things fun. He was probably the only reason she love this class. Haddie wasn't big on plants the way he or Rachel were, but that didn't matter. HE made the class fun. "Hey, Professor Myers!" Haddie's voice faltered slightly as she caught sight of Rachel and her boyfriend, the Dodo Bird. She gave them a dirty look for a moment and then promptly ignored them both, making her way to the opposite side of the greenhouse from them. "Professor, if you were to make a house out of a gravity resistant tree, would the house also float?" |
Ugh class. |
Mentions of first year Ravenclaws Henric stepped into the class and the first thing he noticed was "Brady The Brat" in front of him. He mentally groaned, maybe the hag should have continue making a soup out of him. He saw Rachel and a few of her fellow friends there too, he waved to them too and gave her a flower,"From me to you Rach, has your friend got one too?" He turned towards another first year Ravenclaw(Olivia). "Hi there, my name is Henric. I see that you don't have one, do you like a flower?" he asked kindly. |
Oliver rushed, nearly running, down to the greenhouses. He had just gotten out of the shower when he realized what time it was and definitely didn't want to be late. When he arrived, he realized he was actually early and sighed in relief and in frustration too. No big deal. Not like he couldn't have spent at least five more minutes getting ready. Whatever. It was meditation time. Making his way past the professor, he waved and smiled, knowing how much Myers appreciated smiles and what not. "Hi professor, hope you're doing well." Now that it was near the end of the fall semester, Oliver was much more comfortable with the scheduling of the classes and the professors. He had learned to keep his groaning about being in class to himself, finally. Moving around the students that were there, he waved at familiar faces, though he didn't ever speak to them because nerves were real, and he took a seat. Time to cleeeaaar the the mind! Ollie closed his eyes and tried his best, hoping no one jumped up behind him and scared him. That would noooot be cool. |
Rachel, Olivia, Haddie, Brady! Azura moved into the greenhouse and sighed happily as the warmth enfolded her like a warm blanket! It was so cold outside! She smiled up at the professor and waved slightly shyly at him. "Hello Professor." she said as she nodded her black head at ho before looking around the circle to see who was there! "Hi Rachel, Olivia, Haddie." She said to her dorm mates as she found a spot to sit down, she waved some bubbles out of her face, giggling ever so slightly as one popped on her nose. She turned her head to the side and then smiled as she saw who was next to her. "Hello Brady! How are you?" She asked the young Hufflepuff as an older boy giving people flowers caught her eyes.. Why was he doing that? |
We do! Quote:
She giggled at the bubbles as she walked through them to where the class was gathering, refraining from popping them intentionally. She felt like a fairy. She freed her hands from inside her cloak and tugged down her scarf. Instead of a verbal greeting, she just grinned up at her Head of House. Hi. Lucy turned her head to grin at the boy she found herself behind...but after noticing he looked...well, mean, her grin faltered and she shuffled away a little bit. Just a little bit. |
Austin always like Herbology. It wasn't something he was entirely interested in, but the professor made the class so calming. Relaxation wasn't something he excelled in. Especially with the O.W.L.S coming up so fast. As he walked in, messenger bag slung over his shoulder, a bubble flew into his face. It popped on his nose, and he had to blink a few times to fully assess what was going on. His mind suddenly seemed to clear up, and he wondered why he was every stressed about his tests in the first place. He'd either pass them, or he wouldn't. No big deal! Normally the teen never bothered with the flower rule. It seemed really silly to give random people flowers. But today, he picked up a bright blue one. It had a long stem, and petals as blue as a clear sky. Maybe to day he would give it to someone? He wasn't sure who yet, so as he walked towards his seat, he twirled it in his hands. |
And Dante Another herbology lesson. And as promised, Kaycee had a few pictures of her dog with her. "Hey Professor. Here are those pictures." she said dropping it off on his table. Passing the flowers, she smirked. She couldn't resist. She picked one up and handed it over to Dante. "Because you're still excellent at kissing." Probably. She hadn't tried recently and didn't intend to. She mostly was amused by how Professor face freaked out every time she brought it up. |
Kitty stepped into the Greenhouse and breathed a sigh of relief and comfort. It was warm and comfortable, as always. BUBBLES! She giggled and grabbed playfully at one of them like a small child before going to join the circle of students. "Hi Professor Myers" She waved at the Herbolgy Professor and went to sit in the circle. "Hey Haddie! Hey Rachel! " Then she went to sit by Haddie and waited for the class to begin. |
Freezing...freezing...freezing...WARM. Ahhh, the greenhouses! Ariadne paused and took in a deep breath, enjoying how warm the entire place felt. She stayed there for just a little, before opening her eyes and looking around. The professor was BLOWING BUBBLES! Never mind the huge variety of plants or what the lesson might be about. This eleven-year-old wanted to DANCE in the bubbles! Ariadne half-skipped over to them and twirled around a few times. Some of the bubbles came to rest on her and popped almost immediately. "Hiii, Professor Myers!" she greeted. She stopped twirling and looked around. Hmm, young plants in the back. That must be what the lesson was about. Ariadne loved Herbology! It kind of went hand in hand with the subject she grew up around--POTIONS! She gathered around a group of other people about her age and waited for the lesson to begin. |
Sitting next to Ariadne! :3 What might cheer up Jace today? Oh that would be actually learning new things, and not get threatened to be eaten, unless, they were going to tackle dangerous plants. With his Ravenclaw scarf wrapped snugly around his mouth and nose, he made his way to the greenhouses to attend another Herbology class with Professor Myers. The man’s really fun to watch, so in return, Jace enjoys his time with him learning, no question about that. Too tired to notice things, well, except for the bubbles which he tried to avoid, Jace got close to the man to say his hello by bowing. “Professor Myers, it’s good to see you again.” The Ravenclaw beamed underneath his scarf, got a flower (to be given to Moxley, ahem) and joined the rest of the class. Oh...and hello fellow Ravenclaws! Jace waved at the bunch, and silently plopped down next to a Slytherin girl. Jace loosened his scarf, and gave the girl a slight bow of his head and a warm smile. Hopefully she won’t mind sitting right next to her. |
Herbology was never going to be Dot's favorite class, but the professor was definitely her favorite professor. Even if he made her get dirty and had her digging around in poop, he was a person that Dot believed really cared about her, about his subject, and about whether they left the class smarter. That was a nice feeling. It didn't mean he got a flower today, but he knew. He was getting mental flowers. For now, Dot found a spot in the middle of the greenhouse and watched her classmates settle in around her. "Good day, professor. I like your baby trees. Do they have names?" If not, she was good at naming things. |
Who didn't like bubbles? Thornton didn't like bubbles. Especially when they hit him right in the face. Sputtering, he moved into the greenhouse. Also on Thornton's dislike list: dirt, interpersonal drama, and meditation. So herbology class was not faring so well on the Ravenclaw's list of things that didn't suck. He'd not been studying lately, either, as this class had been one of the ones that Paige assisted him with. But, he had to be a good role model now, didn't he. So into the circle he went. |
The most disappointing point about coming to Herbology class, was that the Professor almost always let her down. Deep deep down inside, Amur was secretly hoping that Professor Myers would one day wear his poncho and hat again. Then, she could get other opinions as to if her initial reaction that summer had been completely justified. So, every Herbology lesson the man got a serious eye for his wardrobe. Not entirely disapproving for what he was wearing, but slightly disappointed for what he was not wearing. Today, was no exception. Moving into the circle, Amur cradled her notebook in her arms and considered the man. They were going to meditate again, weren't ---- Yup. A sigh. A fidget. She closed her eyes and TRIED. Really, she did try. But clearing her thoughts was not something she really wanted to do, or even thought herself capable of doing. What, exactly, would happen if she did manage to clear her thoughts? Were thoughts not the definition of oneself? Would she become nothing, nobody, if she was successful in this endeavor? Moreover, why would a Professor want them to become devoid of what made each of them, them? Because a monotone group of students was easier to handle? Amur's nose twitched and she peeked open an eye. Thankfully, there were bubbles flitting from Myer's hand. And bubbles were always welcome. They got a small smile. |
Bubbles? Really? That was so Professor Myers. Esme giggled as one hit her nose and popped. "Hello, Professor." It was good to see her Head of House in a good mood - but then he always seemed to be in one. Her theory was that he was a Hufflepuff at heart. Spotting Rachel, Oliver, Azura, and a few of her other friends, she sent them waves before joining the circle. She knew the drill from previous lessons, so none of this was new to her. Right. Time to clear her mind. Esme closed her eyes. |
Its Professor Plantman tiiiiime! Even before Tenacius entered the greenhouse, he already spotted the bubbles floating through the doorway. And like any exuberant nearly-12 year old, he started bouncing up popping them with his hands clap-pop! clap-pop! clap-pop!..... ....Oh the meditation thing. Shhhhhhh..... He wasn’t much good with meditation things. But keeping quiet is good enough yeah? ............. ......... ...... He's hungry. Theres got to be a strawberry pot here or something innit? Nuninuninuninu.... |
*loves you all* SPOILER!!: Rachel Blowing bubbles was relaxing and soothing, Paul found. When one landed on Rachel’s nose, he chuckled to himself. “Hello, Miss Watson, and yes, I am quite well today! Sentiments are returned to you, of course!” Serene smiles and a wave for her. SPOILER!!: Davie Here he was, Davie! David Truebridge. Paul beamed when he saw him. “Helllllllo and good day, Mr. Truebridge!” he said with a wave as well. He totally noticed the boy’s...awkward hi to Rachel, too. Hmmm. HMMMMMMMM. SPOILER!!: Olivia Ahhh, another young one! So precious, so precious. Paul wanted to squish them all! Did she enjoy the bubbles? She was smiling, yes! He had HOPED they would be well received and...bring positive energy into the mix. “Good morning to you, too, m’dear!” SPOILER!!: Dante Ha! Dante WOULD ask that as a greeting. Professor Paul, too. Heh, he didn’t mind it. “Why, Dante, of COURSE they are necessary!” Dante got a faceful of bubbles for that question, too. “Why, bubbles are a part of life--they sort of symbolize life, don’t you think? Floating, this way and that way--sometimes they glisten in the sunlight, sometimes they don’t--and suddenly one day they POP.” Wasn’t that morbid?! Paul thought it was all rather philosophical, and so, he laughed. SPOILER!!: Hadley "Good MOOORNING, Hadley!" he smiled and waved, shooting some bubbles lightly in her direction. And oh? A question? An INTERESTING question, it seemed! "Hmm. Well, for one, that depends on the species of the tree--there are two main types of gravity resistant trees. Secondly...well, it's only if anything is TOUCHING the tree...so the walls...yes...and then the floor would have to, too...hmm. I am not good at that kind of science--" he smiled gently. "That is more Flamsteed's area than I. But for right now, I would THINK so...if it was a small house. Or...I don't know." Merlin. Her question had him spiraling! "However, I do think magic has better ways of making a floating house." SPOILER!!: Brady “HELLLLLLLLO to you, too, Brady!” Paul did not take KINDLY to being ignored, thank you very much. Just for that, Paul made his wand SPEW out bubbles at the boy. Pfft. Teach him to ignore PAUL MYERS, Herbologist. SPOILER!!: Henric There was one of his prefects! Henric got an eager wave from Paul. “I am perfectly GREAT, Henric. Nice to see you,” he nodded at him. BUT MERLIN, was he trying to give away ALL of Paul’s flowers?! He supposed he wouldn’t say anything just yet...but he gave a flower to anyone else...HMPH. He supposed spreading the love was, of course, nice, but he wanted everyone to eventually have a chance in SPREADING that love! SPOILER!!: Oliver He smiled at Oliver. “I’m doing better than well on this BEAUTIFUL gift of a day, I assure you!” he waved some bubbles in Oliver’s general direction. “I hope you are, too!” SPOILER!!: Azura “Hello there, Azura!” he smiled and waved. He was glad to see that most of them were bundled up in this chilly weather! He would hate for them to catch colds at such an unfortunate time--Christmas was only about a month away, after all! SPOILER!!: Lucy One of his shyer students, Lucy. Paul smiled gently at her as she strode inside. “So good to see you today, Lucy!” Oh, his Hufflepuffs. How he adored them all. Even if he was...a Ravenclaw back in the day...the house still held a special place in his heart, obviously. His mother had been a puffer. SPOILER!!: Austin “MORNING to you, Austin!” He called out LOUDLY at the boy. ANOTHER PERSON IGNORING HIM. Did his breath smell today? Paul liked attention, people, ‘tis why he was a professor! Well, not TOTALLY, but yes, it was nice to talk and have people listen to you. Ahem. SPOILER!!: Kaycee pls DEFKHWIQRUFHIERHFGIEURHFGEIURFGH Did Miss Richards ENJOY this?! Paul’s face turned the color of an apple, and he slid off the table. “REALLY, Miss Richards?!” he cried, flailing his arms around. PLUS Dante was with one of his PUFFERS, EUREKA. AKA, BOTROS CHILD. So. He squinted. “DANTE, you will SEE ME AFTER CLASS.” Hmph. And to think, he was FOND of the boy. SPOILER!!: Kitty “Hello, Miss Valentine!” he smiled her way, slipping back onto the table, continuing to make bubbles with his wand. But he was eyeing Dante and Kaycee with...well. A not pleasant FEELING. And Paul usually felt PLEASANT feelings so when he felt unpleasantly it was all quite dramatic. Also, as a professor, he needed to remember not to involve himself in STUDENT drama. SPOILER!!: Ariadne Ohhhhh and this one was dancing! Paul smiled. “I like the energy, Miss Greingoth, keep it up!” he said as he checked his watch. WAS IT TIME TO START YET? Almost ALMOST! SPOILER!!: Jace Paul bowed back at Jace in the best way he could. “It is good to see you as well, Mr. Reed!” Hehe, he smiled gently at the boy. SPOILER!!: Dot It was DOOOTTTTTT. He waved eagerly at her, sending bubbles her way. “I like my baby trees, too. And no, right now they don’t but er...I wouldn’t name them just yet since...well, you’ll see.” That would be weird. And a bit cruel, now that he thought on it. SPOILER!!: Thornton Paul could tell Mr. Baines was NOT a fan of the bubbles. HHMMPF. He would try not to send too many his way, then. Also, the prefect had NOT told him hello. “Mr. BAINES it is nice to see you as well, m’boy!” he called out at him, smirking slightly. Merlin, Ravenclaws. He knew how tough it was to be one, since he had BEEN one back in the day. SPOILER!!: Amur Paul waved at Amur as she slipped inside. “AMUR hellOOOOOO!” because again, STUDENTS WERE IGNORING HIM TODAY. That wouldn’t do. And he KNEW Amur would ask about a poncho or something at some point during the lesson...Merlin. One day, he’d had to humor the poor girl. SPOILER!!: Esme “Hello to you, toooooo, Esme!” he said in a sort of sing-song way. Hehe. SHE liked the bubbles at least. He sent more her way and checked his watch again. Just like...three more minutes maybe. Sigh. SPOILER!!: Tenacius LOOK AT HOW PRECIOUS THIS CHILD WAS. Paul BEAMED and waved his wand so that more bubbles went his way. AH. So cute. First years. He loved them. “Glad to see you are enjoying my bubbles, m’boy!” Only a few more minutes until he began class. He glanced to the back of the room where his baby!trees were to make sure no one had fooled with them. Nope, they looked fine! Good, good. Everyone was good, every THING was good, and an important lesson was about to start--all was well! OOC: I am going to sleep, and as my first post says, I will move on the lesson tomorrow at some point (after my class) <3 |
Carl stepped into the greenhouse, bundled up in his winter cloak. He liked Herbology lessons because it was interesting, the Professor was awesome and the place where lessons took place was warm. Mmmm. And hey, were those bubbles? He blinked as one popped right in front of his eyes. After casually poking some more, he smiled at Professor Myers. "Good morning, Professor." A quick glance around the greenhouse usually told the Hufflepuff what they would study in the lesson. But today, apart from the young trees at the back and the tools on the table up front, there seemed to be nothing special. Carl joined in the circle quickly, seeing as class would begin in a few more minutes and he wanted to meditate before then. He did remember to grab a flower on his way. Just in case. |
If anyone had asked her, Brooklyn would have lied instead of admitting that she was no fonder of Herbology than she had been in any of the previous terms. It was more of a subject she tolerated. It didn’t annoy her as much as it could have been, and at least she didn’t have to come up with compliments anymore. That made things slightly better. She could handle the meditation circle and everything else. Well, when she wasn’t getting a stream of bubbles in her face. That caused her to scrunch up her nose a little and make a face, but she smoothly exchanged that for her normal polite expression. “Good morning Professor Myers,” she said, giving him the slightest of nods as she took her place in the circle. Plus, the movement knocked more bubbles away before they hit her in the face again. Hopefully he’d stop with the bubbles soon enough, if he really wanted them all to clear their minds. As of right now, she was mostly thinking of the bubbles and her irritation at them. No need to mention the trees, either. Dot had covered that. |
IT WAS TODAY, IT WAS TODAAAAAAY. Jaemin felt like it had been sixteen million years since the last Herbology lesson. YEARS. Civilizations had risen and fallen, dinosaurs had come back and gone extinct again. That had all happened while he was waiting for the class to come back through his schedule again. He had hurriedly pulled on his jacket and his scarf, seized his Herbology gloves from beside his bed, and ran his little butt all the way to the greenhouses. "Hi Professor!" he called excitedly as he bounced into the warmth. His little cheeks were already red, even though he hadn't been outside for very long. Patting them absently, he joined in the whole circle thing, eyes on the little barely born baby trees. He always found it hard to clear his mind when his mind was so focused on trying to figure out what they would be doing that day, but he made his best effort anyway. |
