The Diadem: Lessons, Homework and General Announcements
Credits: Magical Soul
Did you forget when your Herbology journal was due, or how much longer you have on that Ancient Runes essay? What classes are coming up? The Class, Homework and General Announcements Board located on the wall by the study tables is the perfect place to check for what activities both academic and non-academic are going on in the Castle.
OOC: All Ravenclaws and Hogwarts Professors are free to post in here letting the members of Ravenclaw House know of upcoming or recently opened classes, homework assignments, or bulletins of new activities. When making a post in here, please try to include a link to the appropriate class thread and a quote or link of the actual homework assignment. If there is already a post for something try not to make another one; we all enjoy being informed, but too many repeating posts becomes repetitive. For more information on posting an announcement see the Ravenclaw Rules and FAQs thread.
**Myself (Nordic Witch) and your House Mod (hpluvr037) will be sure to keep this top post updated with currently open classes and events and a list of homework assignments and their due dates so make sure to subscribe to this thread.

The first Preliminary Gobstones Match this season is between the Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaw, and it is starting now! You won't want to miss out, so put on that face paint, wave those house flags, and come cheer your classmates on in the stands because this match is going to be out. of. this. world!
Good luck to all and see you there!
OOC Announcement: The match will last approximately 6 days, September 6th - 11th. The Gobstones Rules have been revised, so please read and re-read ALL the rules before posting in the match or viewing area.
When: Right now! Who: Everyone What to bring: Enthusiasm, potions kit, wand and brains
OOC: Please read the rules, especially the updated ones. However, this is an OOC reminder for IC changes. So please don't go out of your character's way to comply.
(PS. RL has been too hectic for me to post this notice any earlier. Thank you for your understanding <3)

Once the brewing time for your potion is up, come to the classroom to put the fire out and add the animal sample you want. Do NOT come if it's after curfew, then I'll put it out and drop by in the morning.
Take a dose of it and have fun in the school until it wears off.
Write about your experience and owl it to me. It should be 1 inch long.
For those whose potion I have vanished*, take from the potion I brewed for you.
You can work in pairs or alone.
If you want to use your own animal, owl (PM/VM/Skype/Twitter) me first.
OOC Instructions
You do not have to RP coming to the classroom. Just imagine your characters did.
You do not have to specify how long the potion is effective for, but please try to have a general idea, as there is a HUGE difference between 15 minutes and 5 hours of being an animal and that should affect how you RP. With this in mind, this is how I'll grade the homework:
The duration of the potion vs. your characters' potions ability (eg. a first year is very unlikely to brew a potion that lasts longer than an hour)
Details in your RPs such as: being foreign to that animal body at first, different perception of the five senses (don't go research how animals do that, I don't want that at all! I want your creativity) and so on.
Your interaction with other RPers (not necessary, only if you do)
General HW grading rules (creativity, plausibility etc)
1 inch=one paragraph of 3 sentences (it can be longer than that)
*: If I haven't quoted you during class for a mistake and/or PMed you, then you can say your character's potion is successful. The potion Cosgrach will provide will last for ONE hour.
I want a minimum of four posts. There is no maximum. Don't forget to include ALL of the links. The count starts at the first post the transfiguration starts.
You can still do the homework even if you missed the class as always.
As I have stressed it many times during the class, they still retain their human mind 100%, so RP accordingly. Thank you <3

Please be sure to read Moxley's rules, and pay special attention to the new additions for this term! And, as previously noted, remember that this is NOT the first IC lesson of the term! Go get 'em, Ravenclaws!!
When: October 13 with prompt arrival time by 9:00am OOC: Wednesday September 16th - lesson should open by approximately 6:00 am GMT-6.
Lesson will officially start by no later than 11:30pm GMT-6 on the same day.
Where: The DADA Classroom, specifically the training hall
Who: Everyone and anyone who wants to learn something. Pets are discouraged. Food is prohibited. Socks are up to personal preference.
What to Bring: Your head and everything that comes with it; eyes, ears, nose, mouth and brain matter. Sharp senses are particularly important. Rest up well.

The first DADA lesson of the term has been scheduled!
There are two options for this homework. Please only complete ONE of them for credit. Doing more will not earn you double the house points. Extra credit is available to outstanding efforts and creativity.
⌦ option one (worth 15 pts)
Using your textbook, illustrate and label a chart showing the difference between a simple impact crater and a complex impact crater.
Vocabulary to include:
central uplift
floor
impact breccia
impact ejecta/ejecta
impact melt
raised rim
rays
wall
You may include additional information beyond the above if you wish.
OOC: This is a graphics specific assignment. Graphics should be your original work and not something copy pasted from the internet.
⌦ option two (worth 15 pts)
The Moon's surface is covered in craters. Simply looking up at it from our perspective here on Earth makes this fact obvious. Take your telescope and the appropriate spell to focus it, go out on the grounds or to the observatory (DO NOT DEFILE THE SANCTITY THAT IS THE SANCTUARY OF SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY) and do a bit of "cratergazing". Using your textbook to assist you, locate and identify 3 impact craters on the Moon's surface and pick 1 to write 2 inches on. I highly suggest you wait for the full moon for this assignment so you do not limit your lunar surface viewing area.
OOC: This is a RP specific task and requires a 4 post minimum. 2 inches, in this case, is one solid paragraph of at least 5 thoughtful sentences.
⌦ this assignment is due September 30th @ 11 pm GMT + 9
Please be sure you have read through Astronomy & Space Navigation and paid particular attention to the rules regarding homework submission. Late homework submissions will not be accepted. Any questions, concerns, or what have you can be sent to me via PM. You do NOT have to have participated in the lesson to do this homework.
Come one, come all! Calling all brave-hearts and brave-hearts-to-be!
The Dueling Club will hold it's first official meeting on November 13 (September 28th, OOC) and is looking for its roster of members!
Participants will be immersed in an environment where they can develop, hone and refine their dueling skills. Be prepared to be challenged in your magical capabilities, mindset and ingenuity and physicality.
All ages, houses and Professors are welcome!
All interested MUST sign a permission form, found HERE after reading through the Rules and Etiquette. Forms must be submitted BEFORE the day of the first meeting (November 13).
---------------- OOC: If you are interested, please make sure you read through all the Rules & Etiquette, and submit forms to the same thread. Forms must be submitted before September 28, to be signed up for the tournament. Any submitted after the tournament may still participate in the club, just not in the tournament.
Please PM me with any questions or concerns
For those interested in joining the Dueling Club, instructions to sign up have been posted! Please be sure to read ALL instructions in full, there's a lot of them! It's bound to be a great time!
Join your professors over the weekend for an afternoon by the lake where you have breakfast,
play with your mates in the fall leaves,
and compete in the planned activities by the staff!
ooc: this is the first "camp" of the year, all students are invited to attend of course. It will open officially on the 21st of Sept, lookout for new threads in the Hogwarts Grounds forum!
Without the intensity of the classroom, your task is to practice your respective charm in a game of stop/banish and catch. Younger students will attempt to catch the ball thrown by their partner by using Arresto Momentum. Older students will will attempt to banish the ball into their grasp. Collect a ball from outside my office and find a partner of any year. Don't be afraid to try large distances.
Keep in mind, first through third years will practice Arresto Momentum, fourth and fifth years will practice the Banishing Charm, sixth and seventh years will do as well, nonverbally.
After that is done, write a summary of what you learned about casting the spell or anything related to it, and add the name of your partner. Turn your homework into the Drop-In box for credit.
OOC:
- Three posts for each person playing, and PM the links to me, please.
- You don't have to write the summary, I'm only counting the RP posts OOC.
- Review the homework rules and have fun! If you have any questions don't hesitate to VM or PM me. (:
- Homework is due on September 27 @ 5 PM GMT -6.
The Breakfast Eggstravaganza has OPENED on the grounds!
Everyone please bring your wands, your smile and your morning selves down to the lake for a fun event with your peers and staff. Who wouldn't want to eat breakfast in the great outdoors?

The first RP'd Divination class of this term is scheduled for later this week! Be there or be..a pear? (Pretty sure 'square' sounds threatening and Professor Cassie wouldn't be too happy with that) Remember to read the rules and enjoy!

Extra Credit: A paragraph explaining why you chose the team name you did and what you like best about bowling.
