Herbology I

Ah, December. It was quite a mild winter so far, but even with the ground slightly frozen and muddy, the season was still perfect for learning Herbology. Actually, all seasons were perfect for learning Herbology, especially in the expansive Hogwarts greenhouses!

As you come outside today for your lesson with Headmistress Truebridge, do take care to wipe your boots before entering Greenhouse Three. The Headmistress has recently had the entire greenhouse cleaned of all cobwebs and polished, including the floors, in preparation for her indoor lessons. She has also set up shop today on three different shiny metal rolling carts, each covered in a white sheet. Although the professor is not present, you should know to take a seat at a stool around a lab station without feeling the need to touch the nearby carts.

Curiosity kills, after all. :shifty:

Lesson Progression:
1. What are these?
2. Describe in more detail.
3. Take notes. Get muffed.
4. Repotting time.
5. Continue repotting/offer them a drink.
6. Label your pot and go!

Henric made sure he wiped his shoes before entering inside the greenhouse no.3. He looked around and no Headmistress Truebridge in sight.Fuu....he let himself in and walked to the back of the class and claimed the stool his usually sat. He wasn't entirely sure what to feel for this lesson yet but it should be something good. He wondered where the professor at, it was weird being one of the first few students to reach her class. He was never early for any classes...but ehh...whatever.

FearlessLeader19 06-14-2015 11:31 PM

Herbologyyy! Wheee! Adi did take the time to stamp out most of the dirt and wipe the bottom of his shoes before shuffling into the third Greenhouse all set to greet Professor Headmistress. But the only thing was... she wasn't there. Ah, well. There were other things to occupy his attention like those carts over there covered in sheets.

The Hufflepuff wondered if he took a peek if he would ger super cool eyebrows like he had gotten last term from Professor Airey. However, he decided that he should let this slide. Instead, Adi took a seat on a stool at one of the tables next to Henric and got busy by getting his books and parchment ready while he occasionally shot looks at the cart as he chatted with Henric. "How's it going with Leah?'' he asked casually.

You know, just to clear things up, Zander used to LOVE going to herbology. For more than just one reason, actually, but that didn't last all too long because that wicked man Walton came and ruined that. But even an evil force with such strength as evil, wicked Walton wasn't able to keep Zander from finding enjoyment in one of his best subjects. So that problem was easily avoided. Then the other man... Was Mildred his name? No, that was a girl name... Millard, maybe? He wasn't all that memorable to be honest, but Zander liked him. He made the subject an average one.

So after beautiful Professor Bentley, the subject seemed to be cursed. There was never a Professor who could match her skills quite as well.

Which is just one of the reasons why Zander was dreding showing up to class today. Even just knowing that they'd have a knew herbology Professor was enough to want to turn him away. Except he was worried for another reason, actually. The fact that their Professor was THE HEADMISTRESS. And oh also the Headmistress HATED him. But whatever, that's nothing. He could totally survive.

Which is why he decided to take a seat at the FURTHEST AWAY lab station.

Oh sweet Merlin. Zander Adair was not looking forward to this in the slightest.

Zhenya was super excited for Herbology, and even more excited about the lovely season. The seventh year snake was almost skipping down to the lesson, but decided she didn't want to get a muddy bottom so she went with just walking instead. And though summer was by far her favourite season, she didn't dislike any of them. The path down to the greenhouses made her shoes slightly dirty, and she instinctively gave them a quick clean before heading into the greenhouse for lesson. Headmistress Truebridge wasn't around just yet, but there were lots of stools around. So, Zhenya took a seat at one random one, and kept an eye on the carts.

oh its Erik ok 06-14-2015 11:38 PM

Herobology was awesome mostly because he liked Professor Walton and yeah. It was fun to annoy him. Too bad he left and all. Oh well, on to the Headmistress teaching the class now. If not fun it should be interesting at least.

With not Professor to remind him to wipe his boots. He didn't and walked over to an empty seat and sat down. No Professor to greet was fine with Dante.

Means less talking and he was always fine with that.

As usual, the ever so puffy Adi came by and took a seat beside him. But what he asked next had his eyes grew wide.."Uh...what you mean?"Henric asked back, he was trying not to show his disappointment .He rather not talked about Leah right now, the more he thought about her,it just made him upset. She didn't want to speak to him at all, even Benny was ignoring him.It was really confusing...he had no idea what he had done that made them like that. And speaking of Benny,"What about you,how is it going with Benny?"he smirked, hoping it distract him further from the topic of Leah.

Janelle made her way to the Greenhouse for Herbology class. She was still learning to love the class and had a hard time believing that it was her sister's favorite. When she reached the door, Janelle made sure to wipe her feet. She did not want to get on the bad side of the Headmistress.

Janelle looked around and saw some of her classmates, but no Headmistress. After last term, she felt the need to have her wand at the ready.........just in case. You never knew when you were being tested. Finding the nearest empty stool, Janelle sat down. She busied herself with getting her things ready for class. All she had to do now was wait.

hermionesclone 06-15-2015 12:38 AM

So Herbology then. This lesson was either gonna be interesting or a dud and it all boiled down to Truebridge. True, it was the same for all subjects but Herbology in particular was one of THOSE subjects, you know? It had the potential to be the most boring topic in the universe and he did NOT want to stay in the greenhouse if that was gonna be the case.

Speaking of greenhouse, he was here and all. Wiping his shoes clean because being hexed for something like having dirty shoes did not sound like his way to end the year. No thank you. And Merlin knew, the woman probably had her eagle eyes set on them as they entered--

No. Wait. She wasn't even here. Lolol.

Head up, shoulders back and a swagger in his step, Grayson headed over towards an empty seat and sat down. Was he gonna have a peek at what was under those white sheets? Nah! He was just gonna throw it a few curious looks every now and then and wait for an overly brave and curious Gryffindor to come along and do his dirty work for him. While he WAS curious, there was no way that he was gonna risk it. Nah!

And where was Truebridge, exactly?

Sararara 06-15-2015 12:40 AM

Norah walked into the Greenhouse with a plain old smile on her face. That's right, no excited bouncing or skipping or arm waving or anything. Herbology was still the bestest subject, obviously, but it'd gotten a whole bunch scarier on account of the HEADMISTRESS being in charge. Who'd decided that was allowed to happen, anyways?

She took a seat on one of the stools and held her wand in one hand because of that vigilance thingy mabob, tapping her fingers on the table with the other. What was with the carts? Did they each get their own plant? COUNT SHE NAME IT? The fourth year was practically a professional plant-namer, okay? It was a good way to seem competent in front of the Headmistress. Probably. She didn't have a whole lot of experience with seeming competent to grown ups, which was totally unfair because if tree climbing was a class she'd be the best one probably. She liked to think that she would be, anyways.

Expecto-Penguin 06-15-2015 01:24 AM

Time for another Herbology lesson. I mean Kace wasn't the strongest in Herbology but he still made the effort to come to class after all. As he made his way down to greenhouse three, he noticed he needed to wipe off his boots since he saw the sign. He began to scrape his feet on the matt and once he felt they were clean, he walked in and noticed others already made it here. He nodded to all of them and began to find his seat. Wait he needed to greet the headmistress. He turned around and noticed she wasn't here yet. Ah well as he went back to finding his seat, he saw the carts. He tilted his head with curiosity and wondered what could be on those carts.

Knowing his curiousity got him into trouble, he found an empty seat and took out his sketchbook and began to sketch a bit before the lesson started.

D-R-E-A-D. Dread: To fear greatly, or to be in extreme apprehension of.

Sounded about right. Eden lately just...didn't want to go to Herbology. She was terrified of being in the same room with Cutty AND Truebridge, and she just..wanted to hide under a table. Maybe Cutty wouldn't come to today's class.

Maybe.

She sighed as she slid onto a stool...she had remembered to wipe her feet before coming inside, today. Lucky. She wasn't the first to arrive, and Truebridge wasn't here, yet, and Eden took a sigh of relief. Tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear...

Sigh.

She saw Grayson and...Norah? Who else? She was trying not to be noticed. Was it too late to hide?

Cassirin 06-15-2015 02:30 AM

Herbology was such a very dirty activity. It if was less dirty, it would probably be more interesting. Like, it was super interesting how plants grew and were all different and how they could be used, but then in practice you had to put your hands in the DIRT. INTO DIRT. Why weren't there better spells for this sort of thing?

Still, she was still taking this class as an elective, so Dot bounced her way into the greenhouse and waved cheerfully at the Headmistress. Queen of all the pretty nails and pretty clothes, and she didn't mind the dirt. Surely Dot could manage an extended session in the greenhouse too. If the Head could.

Holmesian Feline 06-15-2015 02:41 AM

Ben approached the latest Herbology lesson with mixed feelings. The fact that it was the Headmistress teaching them changed the whole atmosphere of the class, no matter how great she was in the subject matter. The air of her being head of the school simply lingered in the air around her. Add his return to his quiet nature as well as being moody given everything with a certain Hufflepuff and the sixth year knew he had to be careful.

He stepped into the correct greenhouse before the assigned time, ready to greet the woman and slip into class with no more care. Except she wasn't there and the two he wished to avoid were. Ben bit back a sigh and moved to make his way to a seat, trying to do his best to avoid looking in their direction.

Clean attire, shoes wiped on the mat, hygiene fully in check - after last term's Defense class, Sophie got the impression that Truebridge had it out for Flamsteed for some reason, but this Ravenclaw found the two to be very much alike in their need for structure and cleanliness. She prepared the same way for both of their classes, at least, in knowing she needed to be neat as a pin and not a hair out of place. No, everything had to be spotless.

And so she was.

Stepping into the greenhouse with her wand in hand - another thing she retained from that class last term - Sophie noticed... once again, there was no adult in sight. Sigh. What if she was in the room testing them all over again? Wellllll... at least she'd entered the room with her wand at the ready, and as she crossed over to sit next to Zander, she scanned the entirely of the greenhouse.

"Think she's testing us again, like last term, 'bout not letting our guard down?" Soph murmured to the prefect beside her as she set her bag on her lap, still squinting suspiciously and considering... well, it didn't hurt to check, did it? "Homenum revelio," she cast right behind them near the back of the room, then toward the sides, and then directed it up toward the front. Just to be SAFE, right? Someone had to look out for them.

ChanceCoeur 06-15-2015 03:01 AM

Herbology!! You wouldn't look at Chance and think he was a Herbology nut but he was. His smile was erupted on his face as he headed into Greenhouse 3. He quickly took a seat on one of the stools and gave a quick look around. He waved at anyone familiar and ones not so familiar either. He was friendly, the boy.

Chance looked over at the tables with the white cloth on them. What was under those? Chances mind flicked across several plants he had been dying to get a glance at. He was awfully curious. He bit his lip and placed his hands in his lap. They were covered for a reason. He didn't need to go over there and take a peek.

Just a peek....

Surely one little peek wouldn't hurt right? I mean... WHAT WAS UNDER THERE?

WhittyBitty 06-15-2015 03:05 AM

Ready to work with plants, Lux made her way to the greenhouses. She was curious to know what they would be learning about today and she always enjoyed the subject because plants were pretty and interesting.

Entering the correct greenhouse with clean boots, she waved at her friends before taking a seat beside Eden. Something...looked wrong? "You okay?" Hopefully it wasn't anything serious!

Lizasaurus 06-15-2015 03:06 AM

Torie walked into the greenhouse and looked around but didn't see the professor headmistress person who looked just like his mum. That was so weird, he hadn't responded like Jay had that first day at the feast but it was really kind of creepy weird that she looked just like her. Well, they do say everyone has a twin somewhere...right? He saw the nearby carts and considered going and taking a peak. Maybe he should? He hesitated as he watched other students find spots to sit around the stations. Sighing he decided to take Jay's advice and just take a seat.

Weasley174 06-15-2015 08:42 AM

Angel was totally happy, she loved Herbology and she couldn't wait to see what was happening, even if Adi was in a mood with her nothing was going to stop her from enjoying another Herbology lesson, she decided to sit on a stool away from Adi and her boyfriend, she would speak to Benny later but for now she wanted to focus on this lesson, she totally wondered what they would be doing this lesson.

nanyjj 06-15-2015 03:07 PM

Winter was here. It was surprising how quick time passed by. Bundled up in a winter cloak, Leah wiped her boots clean before entering the Greenhouse. The Headmistress - or rather, PROFESSOR Truebridge was not yet present, although the Greenhouse was quite clean compared to the cobweb-full castle.

She walked to a random lab station and took a seat on a stool around it. The Hufflepuff would have tried poking around the carts set up in the Greenhouse, but she was too cold and bored to bother.

YAWN.

lazykitty 06-15-2015 08:01 PM

Boots wiped at the door, Heather entered the greenhouse and took a seat near the front. Because where else was best for hearing and note taking? Not that she needed help with those things. Her hearing was perfectly fine, thanks. She also avoided sneaking a peak under the white cloths on the rolling carts. She didn't want to be cause of some loud noise or other unpleasant thing happening. Besides, they'd know when Headmistress wanted them to know.

Felixir 06-15-2015 08:17 PM

After wiping his muddy shoes outside, a matter of courtesy, really, Toby stepped into Greenhouse Three and took a quick look around. He was quite looking forward to class today, because he liked Herbology and also he was pretty good at it. The only non-verbal spell he could do to date was related to flowers, though technically it was a conjuring spell. But not the point. ALSO he liked the Headmistress as well, even though she could be kinda scary, though he'd never personally had to deal with that. He supposed it was just a Headmistress-y sort of thing; you had to be intimidating and super no-nonsense, like, as a rule.

Spinning his wand between his fingers, as usual, Toby soon found himself a free seat, right by Grayson Whitlock. He gave his fellow seventh year a nudge as he passed him and then the kind of grin he saved just for Grayson, dropping into the seat beside him. "Hey, Stud." Yeah. That was a nickname that was never going to die, not unless Grayson wanted it to, of course.

Casey O 06-15-2015 08:34 PM

Marigold flattened her hair as she entered the room, wiping her feet and practicing what to say. Would she say "hello, professor" or "hello, Headmistress" was the big question. ????? But it turned out that she didn't need to worry, because Truebridge wasn't there yet. She exhaled quietly.

OOOOH, good initiative from Sophie Brown! She was going to do that too, if she had remembered quickly enough. She had faith in Sophie Brown's spell-skills, but she whispered a "Homenum revelio" nevertheless.

She gave waves to Norah, Sophie Brown, and Eden before sitting down.

MudInMyBlood 06-15-2015 09:10 PM

Killer plants were hopefully on the agenda for the lesson she was headed to today. There was just something about the possibility of losing a limb that fascinated the Gryffindor. Not to mention that the healer most likely could grow them back... so... it really wasn't even scary.

No shoe wiping happened because she just flat didn't think about it. AJ wasn't trying to be disrespectful or anything. Nope. She just had killer plants on her mind, and you know what multi-tasking did to her.

There was a lack of mud on the floor anyways, and no professor in sight so nothing to worry about. Ohhh... what was in those carts? Why were they covered in sheets? It had killer plants written all over it, it did. AJ bit her bottom lip as she debated going over there for a peek.

Govoni 06-15-2015 09:39 PM

It was quite an experience entering Greenhouse Three after two years of less than impressive surroundings. Or...actually, that was a rude thought. Less than POLISHED, to be more precise. If the intention had been to make the building seem more inviting, Gabe thought it was a success. He definitely preferred to be in a clean workspace over one crawling with insects. So, kudos to the Headmistress for any well-placed charms and magic involved in the renovation.

Also, no...Gabriel wasn't curious at all about the cloth covered carts. Just cautious. When had he become so wary in nature? It was hard to pinpoint.

Taking a seat near Toby and Grayson, he cut his eyes towards the carts once more. Boots wiped, though...and mind ready for molding. Were they starting soon?
