you can keep potting/repotting/do another mandrake if you want! I'll wait about 12 hr

Good, good... no mishaps or lost appendages so far. Bunz walked amongst the students who were potting and re-potting, humming slightly to herself to counter the absolute silence these earmuffs provided. When she noticed a few kids dusting their gloves off because they had successfully moved their mandrakes, she gestured for them to use their wands to start watering their newly transplanted babies. See? She seemed to gesture with her wand, nonverbally casting the spell and pointing it at the nearest transplanted pot as she mouthed, "ONLY GIVE IT A LITTLE WATER. JUST A DRINK." Don't DROWN the poor plant!

WhittyBitty 06-18-2015 10:20 PM

The ordeal over with, Lux proceeded to dust some of the soil off of her gloves. Honestly she'd rather use Scourgify on them, but since this was Herbology class they would probably just get filthy all over again.

Wondering if she should re-pot another Mandrake, she noticed the Professor telling them they could water. Oh, of course! Silly her. They were PLANTS after all and needed some TLC. Wasn't their fault that they were ugly and grew up to be potentially fatal; they deserved love and care too. Pointing her wand at the plant, she gave it what seemed to be a good amount of water - not too much and not too little. She knew that drowning a plant was BAD.

With that done maybe she could do some more re-potting.

Holmesian Feline 06-18-2015 10:21 PM

So they had a lot of answers and thus a lot of notes added to the board which Ben was currently copying down. A magical mandrake was one of those tricky buggers, even without the scream that could either kill you or knock you out. And now they would get to repot one of the little baby versions...joy. The Gryffindor listened carefully to Profess--Headmistress Truebridge and her instructions, preparing himself for the task at hand.

Would you look at that...a workstation for them all!

Gloves already on...earmuffs half/on, he was nearly ready when she gave them a go-ahead. First things first, he slipped the other muff piece onto his free ear, briefly testing the set to make sure both ears were completely covered. Check! Picking out a mandrake of his own from the original pot...double check! Ben eased himself into where he could grab ahold of the top of the plant in question, got a good grasp of it and pulled it straight up.

The wide open mouth was proof enough of the ear-piercing that he would have gotten without the ear-muffs. He had to fight with his catch for a bit before managing to move it to a new pot. "Come on...in you go," Ben instructed as he set the mandrake into the pot, narrowly avoiding a chomp of one of his gloved fingers. He took the moment to start adding dirt on top of it. "There you go..." Hopefully it would settle down more as it got used to its new home.

What was Truebridge mimicing...oh.

"Aquamenti," he cast to give the mandrake a little drink before casting a quiet finite to end it all. There...all set...for now.

MudInMyBlood 06-18-2015 10:41 PM

Did the baby need a drink? AJ was on it. For a minute she wondered if she was supposed to like aim the jet stream into it's mouth orrrr... into the dirt that she had piled on top of him. Probably the latter. That sounded like something the others would do. The students who were good at this sort of thing.

The lion was going to play it safe, guys. Picking up her wand, she cried out the spell that she knew SO well. "Aguamenti." Eying the flow, she made sure to cut it off with a quick finite. No need to drown the poor thing. Especially after she worked so hard getting him into his new pot. Wasted energy right there.

All done. AJ was thinking about repotting another one. What else was she supposed to do? Twiddle her thumbs?

Symphora 06-18-2015 10:46 PM

Catch up post + watering the mandrake

After ensuring his earmuffs were placed securely over his ears, he move on to his work area and waited for the mandrakes pulling to start. He saw his classmates already grabbing hold the top of the mandrake's head and about to pull it out from the soil. He took his time observing them before he decided to have it a go this time.

Alright Henric, just made sure you've got a firm grip on your mandrake. Use every bit of your arm muscles you had worked hard on, time to show your manliness charm! (Lol) Now, PULL! Waah, he watched the mandrake cried mightily as he raised it up. Good thing his earmuffs were doing its job properly or he would probably be knocked out by now. He quickly placed it gently into its new and bigger home. There, all done! Wait...he forgotten the soil! Wasting no time at all, he grabbed the old pot and pour the soil in. He also added more in if it wasn't enough to cover its whole head and gave it a few pats in the end. Now that was done, professor Truebridge had asked them to water them next.

He pointed his wand and muttered the water spell,"Aguamenti..." Water started to cast out from his wand as he did so. He made sure it had enough so the mandrake pot was not overflowing with water.Watering the plant,DONE!

Sophie Brown was giving him a look. And he knew exactly what it meant on account of the fact that she gave it to him as soon as he put on his choice of ear muffs. In attempt at retaliation, the Gryffindor gave her a light nudge and a look that was supposed to mean 'HEY, WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN??', but instead probably just looked like a stupid grin. Man. He could never win when it came to Sophie Brown. It was rather unfortunate, especially for a situation like this. Sigh.

But he was also quite aware that his ear muffs were the perfect choice for him. So double sigh.

He only turned when Sophie did because oh, they were moving on. Man, Truebridge didn't mess around. She didn't even waste time asking one of those super vague opening questions. Just sort of hopped right into things. This would definitely take some getting used to. THANKS, SOPHIE BROWN. He gave her a huge smile, realizing that if he tried to say anything out loud it probably wouldn't work out. Well, it hopefully wouldn't work out. Truebridge was sure that these things worked, right? 'Cause he wouldn't put it past her to give him a faulty set.

Alright, time to do this mandrake thing. Zander was ready. He was born for this. Not really, but ANYWAYS. He followed right behind the Ravenclaw Prefect and stood in front of a mandrake thing. Here goes nothing. The Gryffindor firmly wrapped his hands around the head and PULLED it right out of the-- ew, gross. This one was even uglier than the one Truebridge had demonstrated with.

And it was SO squirmy!! Merlin, how could he get it to stop?!? He had to use his other hand to swat it so that it wouldn't bite his fingers and in the meant time eyed the pot because he was getting rid of this thing as fast as he possibly could. MERLIN. He quickly stuffed it into it's pot and began adding in some soil to keep it down. Okay, everyone was right about these things. They were horrible.

Merlin.

Oh yeah and did Truebridge want them to water the plants? Uh, he'd take that as a yes. "Aguamenti!" Though he made sure to stop it after the mandrake got enough.

Anna Banana 06-19-2015 02:12 AM

Kate was kind of wondering if the Headmistress would come along and reprimand her for doing something wrong. She wasn't sure why she felt that way, but she still thought it had something to do with the fact that this woman was the Headmistress, and Kate thought she had to work extra hard to impress her. Nothing was said, though, so Kate breathed a sigh of relief.

She thought she understood the gesture to water her mandrake, and when she looked around and saw others doing just that, she knew she was right. kate pointed her wand toward the plant and began giving it a good watering. Well, not TOO good. The Headmistress had said only a little. She can just imagine the agonizing screams coming from a drowning mandrake.

Nope. Not going there.

feeheeheeny 06-19-2015 02:28 AM

Sophie was practically a professional mandrake wrangler, really, with the way she'd taken care of repotting her mandrake so well. It was alllll in the biceps, which were actually fairly non-existent for this Ravenclaw, but she'd given it enough effort to make it LOOK effortless, basically. Her herbologist mum would undoubtedly be proud of her calm, cool composure in the face of mandrakes that wanted to knock her out. NOT TODAY, MANDRAKES.

Zander was having a good time, too, and Sophie giggled to herself, watching his facial expressions as he carried out the task. He looked disgusted by the plant, and rightly so, she supposed, but they weren't REALLY that bad. Zander was being totally dramatic. She appreciated that about him.

And she didn't realize they were supposed to water the mandrake - as she'd been fixated on Zander, ahem - until the Gryffindor began to do so, and Sophie looked up at Truebridge to catch her gesturing and doing the same with her own mandrake as a demonstration. WATER. GOT IT.

"Aguamenti!" Soph cast, letting the pure water trickle into the soil around the mandrake, then stopped when it seemed to have just enough. No overwatering here - she'd rather underwater a little then have to had more. Overwatering was a tricky thing to undo, she knew that from experience.

Cassirin 06-19-2015 03:20 AM

No. Nope, sorry. Dot had enough trouble dealing with plants and dirt and things when they weren't squirmy drama babies who didn't want to be potted and apparently could BITE you. Although how that worked when they had no digestive systems... like what were their mouths even FOR?

She squirmed herself, taking a pot and wandering around the periphery with it held out in front of her. As if maybe, if she was lucky, a mandrake would unpot itself, jump into her pot, and pull the dirt over it's bratty baby head. Hello, mandrakes? Come to mama.

It wasn't working, though, and she looked dumb with her pot out in front of her, so Dot did the only thing she COULD DO, really, and dropped her pot into the soil next to the mandrakes needing to be potted. The shortest distance between these two points was a grab, dump, and pat-pat-pat. She cringed and cowered and dramatized it the whole way, but at least it was DONE. Mandrake in pot. Done done done.

Her mandrake didn't deserve any water, by the way. It hadn't done any of the work. Could someone please water DOT?

FearlessLeader19 06-19-2015 05:13 AM

Adi had been about to go back to his seat. Actually, he had already removed his left glove and was brushing at the front of his clothing. A bit of dirt had been flicked on it during all the tantrum his mandrake had decided to cause. Looking up as he started to move off, his eyes caught Professor Headmistress's movements.

Oh right!

Plants needed water. Even flaily, tantrum causing ones. The Hufflepuff promptly turned back to his freshly re-potted mandrake, raising his wand to the pot but to the base of the mandrake. "Aguamenti!'' Just a trickle, he knew. That was just what the mandrake got. "Finite!'' There you go, little mandrake.

Casey O 06-19-2015 06:45 AM

Watering, then? Marigold hopped to the newest task eagerly, as if she would get a crown for being the first person to do it. But, nevertheless, she wasn't the first person, and she took a little time to look around.

Sophie Brown and Zander were looking chummy - GASP. Were they…were they…were they a THING!!!!! OOoooooooolala!!!!!!!!! And Dot looked very forlorn, she didn't look very happy to be taught by the coolest person EVER!!!!! #TruebridgeFangirlOverHere. And Truebridge looked happy enough too, which was good.

"Aguamenti," she said, even though she should probably be working on nonverbal spells. She couldn't hear her voice - that was progress!

Jessiqua 06-19-2015 07:06 AM

Zhenya caught Professor Headmistress Truebridge's eye, and she began gesturing for them to water the plant, demonstrating it just to be absolutely clear. Hmm Zhenya had never tried a nonverbal spell, OR casting a spell verbally when she couldn't hear. She'd never thought of it before, actually, but surely it wouldn't be a problem?

Pulling out her wand, she pointed it at her mandrake, "Aguamenti," she said, hopefully loudly as she couldn't hear herself, and waved her wand in the sideway S shape. Water spurted from the tip of her wand and she directed a little spray around the Mandrake, before pulling her wand back and cancelling the spell.

SlytherinSistah 06-19-2015 08:49 AM

The curious look that Bunz was giving Cutty registered to his numb conscience as one of outstanding approval and it pleased him that he'd gotten the desired effect of his speaking up in class. He listened to her reply and left the hamburger earmuffs in place around his neck as he waited for her instruction. When she gave the queue that she'd be lifting her mandrake out of it's pot, he moved like whoa to get them around his ears. It wasn't that he wasn't afraid to die or pass out in front of everyone it was just that it had to be for the right cause. If he was going down, it'd better be because a Nundu caught him between her giant claws or 20 wizards casted on him at once.

He fantasized about this for a moment or two before, now at the magically elongated cart, he began scooping the top soil out of the planted mandrake pot. Many plants liked this method of repotting and he'd read once that for some it was absolutely essential because sometimes the soil contained beneficial bacteria that could help the plant to adjust to it's new environment.

The leaves continued to rustle as their space became more confined with the loss of soil and one of them brushed at the lower half of Cuthbert's face. His mouth opened and his head raised and then came down violently as a silent or muffled sneeze took place. Shaking it off, Cutty firmly grasped the leaves of the mandrake close to the base with his gloved hand whilst the other hand held the pot firmly. He gave it a strong pull and up came a VERY dissatisfied looking member of the plant kingdom.

It was such a weird-looking little plant. It delighted Cutty with it's strange homunculus appearance. One of his gloved hands reached out and grabbed the part of it that most resembled a thigh and twisted it upward and toward his face inspecting it all over. The texture of the root material and their remarkable form. The smell was stronger now close up. He lowered the root body down into the fresh pot and began to cover it up with the soil. It was still making a fuss when he'd covered it half way, but once he'd had the entire body submerged Cutty could feel the leaves grow less shaky. Eventually, they were reduced to a sort of soft swaying this way and that until at last they were still as the mandrake became more settled in the new digs.

Cutty never kept his wand out of sight before, but these days after he'd made Professor Glendower tell him what she knew about the Silver Spears, the aspen instrument was especially close. He needed only reach forward and do the little gesture with it to water the plant.

"Aguamenti."

But he quickly stopped the spell the overeager stream of water to prevent overwatering. Perhaps mandrakes were sensitive to root rot.

SilverTiger 06-19-2015 09:43 AM

It wasn’t exactly easy knowing what was going on with the fuzzy pink earmuffs firmly placed over her ears, and honestly, Brooklyn had better things to do than to read lips. Or to watch as others had started repotting the baby mandrakes, honestly, but after people had started watering theirs, she’d decided to get up and claim her pot and one of the last remaining mandrakes from the cart. At least that made things easier. Less fighting if the mandrake was feeling left behind after all, and if she could make things easier on herself, she was going to do that. Plus, there was a lot more loose dirt, so she’d hardly had to dig her mandrake out of its previous home to plop it in the new pot. And at least she hadn’t expected a mandrake to jump into her pot, although secretly she did think it would have been a curious sight if that had happened.

She’d returned to her seat with her potted mandrake though, patting the dirt down around the base of the leaves after she’d sat back down. Manual labor had never been her thing, even before she’d been sick and had to be healed before she turned into some were-invisible spider or whatever it was that had attacked her at the study tables months earlier. Well, her and Cutty, and she still had avoided those tables ever since. Just in case whatever it was happened to still be lurking there. She’d even kept Tywin from prowling around that area.

Anyway, people around her were watering their mandrakes, so she’d slipped a glove off to reach for her wand. It was easier to maneuver without the dragonhide over her fingers, and she figured she was done with dirt. It wasn’t going to jump out of the pot to attack her ungloved hand. She didn’t think it would, anyway. Weird things happened here, but not that weird. “Aguamenti!,” she said clearly, thankful when the stream of water trickled from the end of her wand. She hadn’t liked failing at easy spells when she’d felt icky, especially ones she’d mastered for Potions. She stopped the charm once the dirt was moist, though. No drowning the mandrake.

Felixir 06-19-2015 10:58 AM

Uhhhh... what was Truebridge doing? Gesturing... with her wand, to... uh...

Toby squinted, watching the Headmistressy Professor type person, and watched as she... OH, WATER. Right, yeah, he could totally do that. The Hufflepuff gave a simple nod, and got his wand from his robes pocket. Time to drink up, little mandrake.

... Mandy. Mandy the Mandrake. It had a name now.

"Aguamenti," Toby cast, the sound of his voice suddenly strangely loud but muffled in his own ears, as though he was hearing himself underwater. He still couldn't the majority of his spells non-verbally. Only one.

From the tip of his wand poured some fresh water, which Toby directed at the soil around the mandrake before cancelling the spell. Aw yis. Water for Mandy.

VRSCIKA 06-19-2015 11:34 AM

Ilia felt slightly ridiculous at the moment. She was bundled up with multiple layers, her best friends Hufflepuff scarf was around her neck and there was a pair of 'hamburger' muffs securely attached to her ears. The Slytherin was certain she looked odd right now, but then she wasn't as cold and she was standing next to her best friend so it wasn't all bad.

She observed the professor and a few other students before giving it a try herself. Grabbing securely at the base of the plants 'head' she pulled up with both hands. It was a stubborn little plant and she actually had to try at it to get the little cry baby up. Phew. Once she had evicted the 'child' alarm from its old pot, she placed it gently but determinedly into its new one. She gently tapped at its little root / hands as it tried to grip at the old pot and reject its new home. One hand kept the little plant that was feeling rather sorry for itself tucked into the new pot, while the other took the old pot and covered the rest of the mandrake with its old soil.

What a complaintive plant! Did human babies honestly act and sound like this? She was pretty sure she didn't want one as she got older if that was so.......their toad was much better. She would probably prefer to keep dragons to having a baby. How did parents tolerate that?

Okay, now it was time to water the bratty plant. Just enough to give it a drink, not so much you drowned it. "Aguamenti" She watched how much flowed into the pot and when she felt it was enough."Finite"

RandomRaven 06-19-2015 11:52 AM

Now he had done re-potting the mandrake. Should he did it to the others? Nope, thank you. Re-potting one mandrake was already exhausting enough, right. Now the Korean guy just stood there and waited for the next instruction. His earmuffs were still covered his ears so he wouldn't listen the instruction clearly. So he just watched Truebridge's if she'd given any gesture that meant the next instruction.

Jackson watched the Headmistress watered the mandrake. Okay, so the next step that he needed to do was watering the plant. He cast the water-conjuring spell with his wand. "Aguamenti." A small trickle of water came out from his wand. They didn't need much water right? Maybe just to splash the soil and the mandrake itself. "Finite."

Weasley174 06-19-2015 02:14 PM

Angel wanted to repot all the Mandrakes but she had a funny feeling that the Professor wouldn't like her taking over and repotting them all so she decided just to continue on the one she was working with now, she had even given it a name Tantrum since it was having a huge tantrum at the moment. Saying that it seemed to be calming down a bit.

Angel finished doing the re-potting and then she took out her wand.
"Aguamenti!" Angel made sure that the water was only trickling out as she watered the plant once she had given it a small drink she then ended the spell and looked over to where the Professor was, wondering what they were going to do next.

Kolyander 06-19-2015 02:23 PM

With her newly potted little mandrake sitting proudly on the table in front of her Hady turned her attention to the Headmistress. Apparently they should be giving the little plant a drink of water now. That wasn't hard at all to do, she could do that easily.

Brushing her hands together over the mandrake pot she was able to get some dirt off her gloves. She didn't feel like getting herself and everything all dirty just to get to her wand. Pulling her wand from it's holster on her arm she pointed it at the mandrake casting a simple, "Aguamenti." When a small amount had gotten her plant wet enough she canceled the charm and put her wand away. "There you go, a bigger home and a cold drink."

MudInMyBlood 06-19-2015 03:48 PM

Time to rip another mandrake out of its home. Who was it going to be? Not wanting to really make anymore work for herself, she just grabbed the closest one to her. "Ready for a fresh new pot?" Ready or not it was happening. It still felt really weird not being able to hear when her mouth was moving.

AJ grasped her mandrake one handed this time because she was bad to the bone. Using two hands was so one mandrake ago. Pulling it straight up, she could see that this one was crying. Really couldn't blame them, could you? AJ wouldn't appreciate being pulled out of her home by her head. If something like this happened to her there would be kicking and toe stomping... if she could get to their toes that is.

The mandrake was plopped into his new pot and new soil was put on top. There. All done. WAIT. This one would need some water too. "Aguamenti." Making sure not to drown this one either, she cried out "finite" at just the right moment. There. Now she was done.

BanaBatGirl 06-19-2015 08:51 PM

wrapping things up <3 THANKS, you've been a lovely 1st lesson back

Well, it looked like just about everyone was finishing up with their mandrakes now. Whew, what a relief that was. No one had fainted, no one had dropped a mandrake, no one had broken anything at all, and most strangely, no one had caused any drama or provoked anyone else into a fight.

This was almost a perfect lesson. Huh. Bunz watched carefully as the last mandrake slid into its new potted home and then carefully cast 'muffliato' on the pots just as a form of insurance. She removed her fuzzy earmuffs and let them hang on her wrist for a moment.

"Good job, class; I'm quite pleased with your performance today. You can take off your gloves and step back for a moment before I dismiss you. I want to show you one last thing though, before you go." She whipped the sheet off the last cart and then wheeled it over closer to the class so they could see what she was trying to show them.

On the cart were two mandrakes tucked under the sheet like they were sleeping. One looked like a perfectly healthy, brown, fully grown mandrake similar to what they had potted today, only bigger. The other was pale, ashy green-grey, and shriveled up, like a mandrake which had been left in the ground to rot--- which was exactly what had happened to them. "Mandrakes require a lot of care and attention to their growth and development; that is one reason why they're so expensive to rear. Over the course of the term, you will be raising the mandrake you potted today, or mandrakeS if you potted more than one, and taking care of their needs as they develop. We will harvest them in our next lesson, so that we do not waste these precious plants or forget about them and leave them to die." She patted the poor, dead, old mandrake gently.

"So go ahead and label your pot with your name; I have some markers around if you don't know how to do so by magic." She tossed out some black Muggle Sharpies. "When you're finished, you can pack up and go, or hang around if you have questions. Homework will be posted by tomorrow evening."

Felixir 06-19-2015 10:34 PM

Toby had been perhaps a little too absorbed in checking his mandrake out again, getting a real good look at the leaves and everything while he had the chance, because by the time he looked back up, he saw that Truebridge was speaking and had her earmuffs off. He hurriedly reached up to pull his own away from his ears. The greenhouses seemed especially loud, now.

He'd tuned in just in time to hear the instructions to remove their gloves and... step back, or something. So Toby did those things, craning his head to try and get a look at the contents of the cart Truebridge had.

O_______________O

Was... that... that was a dead...

Wassheshowingthemadeadmandrake?

...

*wibble*

Toby hadn't been expecting that at ALL. He felt like someone had sucker punched him in the gut; it was really easy to see the mandrakes as creatures, after all. And Toby got upset about seeing dead or sick plants. Mandrakes just... yeah. Worse.

His lower lip wibbled again as he stared at the dead mandrake on the cart, getting all emotional OF COURSE. Ridiculous Hufflepuff.

Eventually, Toby managed to tear his gaze away, still wibbly but now at least pointedly not LOOKING at the SADNESS. He grabbed a sharpie and scrawled 'Toby Fuller-Thompson' on his plant pot (it extended a fair way around it, that was for sure, before heading back to his place and packing up his things. Thank MERLIN they were free to go now, because Tobias + sudden sads + classrooms =/= fun times. He shouldered his back and stuffed his gloves inside of it.

"G'bye, Profes-... Headmistress, uhh... Truebridge. Thanks, uh... for the, y'know, the lesson." Not flustered at all, hahahaha, NOPE. Ahem. Toby nodded, and quickly left the greenhouse.

Govoni 06-19-2015 10:48 PM

*late but wanted to finish*

Gabe was taking his time with the repotting. It was delicate business, one might say...That and this was completely new and he was being VERY cautious. What were the statistics surrounding mandrakes? Did the earmuffs always protect one from passing out? Death? Were there any special cases?

Ravenclaw overthinking FTW.

There had been some mishaps, of course. At first, Gabe hadn't been able to get the mandrake up and out of the pot. Even after employing all his strength to do so. After multiple failed attempts, he'd finally realized he'd been grasping it wrong...even after having watched the Professor's demonstration. Eventually, Gabe was able to switch the mandrake's living quarters...sprinkling a bit of the original soil...as she'd instructed. The Mandrake didn't look pleased...but the Ravenclaw supposed he'd be completely cross, too, if someone ripped him up and out of cozy warmth, only to be put in some strange pot.

Brutal.

After covering the mandrake up entirely (amidst some resistance from the plant itself), Gabe...gave it some water...which he'd almost overdone because he was having performance issues concerning his magic. It was entirely too...something and not wanting to STOP when he Finite'd it. There had been a similar situation in another lesson...where he'd had to redo a thing several times due to faulty magic. Perhaps people were right. Maybe it was caused by stress.

.

.

With all that said and done, he watched the Headmistess cast a final spell...and remove her earmuffs. Gabe quickly followed suit, placing his plaid pair on the work surface. They weren't being dismissed just yet..so he anticipated additional notes...but before he could clean and remove his gloves to start writing, it became clear that wouldn't be necessary. He could admit...it was sorta sad seeing the withered mandrake. The analogy of them being like 'babies' wasn't too far off, then...as babies couldn't care for themselves and depended on others for their survival.

With that visual firmly engrained in his mind, Gabe quickly added his name to the pot and set about cleaning up his work area. A few Scorgifys and Tergeos made short work of it. As he stuffed his quill back into his bag, he considered asking about the earlier topics...but had somewhere to be, unfortunately. Quill things, you know.

"Thank you for the lesson, Headmistress."....There was an awkward pause...as all his exchanges were painfully awkward. Even ones with professors. "I will see you tomorrow, if that's okay....about the earlier topics."

Anna Banana 06-19-2015 11:08 PM

Seeing the Headmistress take her earmuffs off, Kate followed suit. On cue, she also removed her clothes and flicked off a bit of the dirt before stowing them away in her pack. She was just about to pick up her bag and swing it over her shoulder, when the Headmistress announced she still had one more thing to show them. Ohh, mmkay then.

Kate swiveled on her heels and turned to face Truebridge. She didn't flinch this time when she sheet was dramatically pulled away. As long as Truebridge had her earmuffs off, Kate was sure there wasn't any danger below those sheets. There were mandrakes under there, but one looked perfectly fine, whereas the other looked like he'd been put through the ringer.

Ohh, right. Caring for the plants. Kate understood that and nodded along as the headmistress detailed the term-long project. Kate put her name on her pot via magic, cleaned up her work area, then made way for the exit. "Thanks, Headmistress! It was a great lesson!" she said.

Sararara 06-19-2015 11:58 PM

Norah had been standing and admiring her handiwork for much too long, apparently, because everybody else seemed to be doing the watering thing. Oh. Had the headmistress said that? Apparently it was harder t get somebodys attention when they were wearing earmuffs, even if their earmuffs were super cool and pink which made it all worth it. She held her wand in a gloved hand and cast a quick "Aguamenti!" There. All watered and hydrated 'n all that, yeah? Had she missed anything else? She put her face up close to the plant and eyed it carefully, then straightened up again. It looked alright to her, anyways.

The fourth year watched the headmistress closely this time, not wanting to miss another instruction on account of daydreaming or being proud, both of which were apparently big distractions. It wasn't her fault, alright? Everything was always distracting. When Truebridge took off her earmuffs, Norah followed suit, holding them against her face again 'cause HOW did they get them to be so FUZZY? She tried to concentrate on the fuzziness instead of thinking about the poor little shriveled mandrake because that was just sad. Fuzzy was better than sads, any day. Everybody knew that.

She pulled off her gloves and wrote her name on the pot in curly letters with one of the black markers. That was it. Ta da!
