This Charms Lesson finds you back in the safe comfort of classroom 2E. Needless to say the hour is as early as it usually is and the crisp spring air pouring into the room should provide some form of waker upper. If not, the Professor will have something special in mind.
Like always, the windows are opened wide, letting in the bright rays of the morning, making the room seem possibly brighter than it actually is.
The Professor stands leaned against his desk, munching on an apple with his gaze toward the window. This lesson....was going to be interesting to say the least and that was largely due to all the unknown variables that were likely to present themselves.
For now the room is silent, the board is empty and waiting for the days small notes. His wand is placed beside him. To all who walk in, he might seem perfectly relaxed--though really he was exhausted and needed to stop planning lessons overnight. Maybe...just maybe then they wouldn't have so many unknown variables. Some food for thought right there. The man would have to seriously consider it.
So come right in, have a seat, the lesson will begin shortly!
OOC: The lesson hasn't officially begun yet, feel free to RP your students' arrivals and all that fancy stuff. Do remember the rules as you post. I should move this class when I get home from work tomorrow.
Well... yeah, Toby hoped so too. And he also hoped that there would be no more fire incidents during this lesson, although now he knew he COULD do the spell, he was a lot more likely to get it right first try. The Hufflepuff was confident.
He wished he had some scorecards, so he could have held up a number '10' or something, 'cause it seemed like a fun thing to do. Maybe Toby could have conjured up such a thing, but really he was too busy bouncing away on the floor and making sure he didn't end up accidentally stuck to the wall again, because then they'd both be in a bit of a...
... in a bit of a sticky situation.
Toby could have cracked up at his own joke right there and then, because it really was that funny, but he just settled for a grin at Maggie and gradually let his bouncing slow to a stop. "Good form! Alright, here we go..."
He raised his wand and, imagining in vivid detail the way he'd manage to unstick himself from his chair earlier, and remembering he COULD definitely do it, Toby cast the spell. "Avexis!"Point.
Calm and in control. And still bouncing maybe a little teeny-weeny tiny bit.
Yes, please no more fire incidents, Toby.
That grin was a little unnerving, did he know that? While she'd done her best not to LOOK like a fool while being stuck to a wall (which was NOT easy!!!), Maggie still wasn't exactly comfortable. She felt really really really exposed right now. What if Toby didn't unstick her? What if he wasn't the nice innocent Hufflepuff that he appeared to be? What if he was evil at heart?
No but, she'd picked him for a reason. She was good at reading people. Sort of. It would be fine.
When he pointed his wand at her, Maggie took a deep breath. It would be fine. It would be fine. She'd managed to look graceful stuck to a wall. She could do anything. She was the best. Toby wouldn't try to hurt her. Or make fun of her. It was going to be fine. Yes. Yes. Yes. It was going to be fi-
.....and then Maggie GRACEFULLY fell off the wall and GRACEFULLY landed face first on the bouncy part of the floor.

Now that she was off of the wall, she would have to unstick Yoongi from the wall. She watched as Yoongi ran at the trampoline and bounced onto the wall. Oooh, spinning in the air. Impressive. "Nice jump." She was liking this Gryffindor boy more and more. There would be more time to talk to him later. Right now she needed to focus on the activity.
He was on the wall. It was her turn to try to unstick Yoongi from the wall. She could do this. Penelope pointed her wand at Yoongi and focused on getting him unstuck. "Avexis!" Had it worked? She was pretty good at charms, and after learning a charm she could do it right almost all of the time.

"Let's get to the fun bit now." Maddox gave a lazy stretch as he got up from his comfortable position. "I need everyone to step away from their desks and chairs." He paused a moment to let them do as much before banishing them to the sides of the room. The floor was now carpeted and the wall toward the board was now soft and cushiony. "What I want you guys doing is partnering up. One of you runs at a section of the wall." They had the entire wall to choose from. He expected no one running into anyone. "Hop on the mini tramped floor directly before the wall." As they could see an entire section near the wall about 3 ft off the wall. "And lunged at the wall. It's been adhaero-ed so you won't fall back until your partner unsticks you to the wall. Jump as high as you like, the entire wall is padded just take into account the higher you stick is the harder it'll be for some to get the right aim to unstick you. Take turns doing thig. Let's get going."
OOC: Soooo all this in a nutshell: Grab a partner, take turns running at the wall, use the trampoline to gain some height and attach yourself to the wall then have the partner unstick you after. You'll only need 4 posts to get full credit and have until Monday night around 6pm GMT-5. Have fun :3
Marsha could see a lot of the class had already started working in pairs by the time she had finished writing up her notes so she looked around, trying to find someone who also hadn’t started the second exercise… Or maybe someone that was stuck to the wall that hadn’t been let down yet? ”Does anyone need a partner?”
Anyone? Maybe?
Marsha nipped on her bottom lip as she looked around… Maybe if no-one else was free she could just interupt one of the other pairs and join them? Maybe. ”Anyone?”
Janelle didn't realize that she was holding her breath, but she gave a big exhale when Eden was released from the wall. Reaching up, her hand met Eden's for a congratulatory high five. "Whooo hooo! I did it." Janelle really appreciated her partner's patience. She was sooo glad that Eden hadn't been mad at her.
Now it was Janelle's turn and she was psyched. "Yes, I am so very ready" She decided to take Eden's suggestion and stick her back to the wall. She would have to call on her gymnastics training to make it happen, but at least that way she could see what was going on.
Janelle was ready, but before she made her leap, she had something to say to Eden. "Don't worry about it. I know you'll get the spell right." She wasn't worried. It was all in good fun.
Taking a run toward the mini-tramp, Janelle jumped up and landed squarely on it. As she rose from the bouncy surface, she did a half turn and flung herself backward. Clearly she hadn't quite thought this through. She stuck to the wall without a problem, but her head it the wall a little harder than she meant it too. After shaking it off, Janelle said, "Go ahead, have at it". This was really weird, but kinda cool. Janelle could look down on every one in the classroom and see what was going on. She was going to be entertained while she waited form Eden to rescue her.
Eden smiiiiiiled and had to giggle at the wall smacking. It looked painful, but Janelle was smiling and stuff, so she wasn't hurt too badly or anything. And she was being all nice and reassuring, too. Ugh. Janelle was adorable. Reminded her a lot of Jasmine, but...Janelle seemed a bit more...bold? Heh.

Despite her mild concussion, Janelle was enjoying her time hanging out on the wall. That was not something you did every day. "It is weird, but I like it. Too bad we can't do this more often." Only the next time, Janelle would plan her leap a little differently........like minus the head bang. She couldn't help but laugh back at Eden. This whole situation was strange, but she was enjoying every minute of it.
The time had come for Eden to try the spell. Janelle braced herself and waited for her partner to cast it. She was certain that Eden would get it right. Janelle seemed to have more confidence in Eden than Eden had in herself. Before she knew it, Janelle was free from the wall. She had prepared herself so when she dropped to the floor, she was ready. Once she landed, she turned to Eden with a grin. "I knew it would work!" Giving her partner a return high five, she continued. "I knew you could do it. Thanks so much for working with me." Janelle appreciated the fact that Eden was nice enough to be her partner. They made a good team and the lesson had been fun. "What are we supposed to do now?", she asked.

"My glasses are just fineee.'' Adi flicked them over his head to squint at AJ. Boy, did the light hurt his eyes! He quickly drop the specs back in place. "And so is my ophthalmologist.'' The dude was one of the coolest ones around and took really good care of Adi's eyes. "Okay, he didn't. I'll give you that because you're so desperate to win at something.'' Smiiiirk.
"I will,'' Adi said cheerfully but with determination before casting the spell and watching AJ and the wall carefully. Oh, hey! She was falling away from the wall! He could see her coming away from it. And her fall didn't look as awkward as his was. Hehe.
"We sure do!'' There was no leader between these two. They were exactly as AJ had said... a TEAM. "Yeah, me too. I hope he doesn't give us homework.'' Adi did his homework on time but it didn't mean he liked doing it.
Mmmhmm. He could just keep telling himself that. Whatever floated his boat. "More like you just want to think you are giving me a win." She was on to him.
No homework. Yeah, she agreed with that one. "I could go without homework for the rest of my life." Before she could add much more she noticed that Marsha didn't have anybody to work with.
"Hey. Wanna run at the wall first?" AJ could help her out here, and she definitely wouldn't mind having another go.

Nice jump? ”I know” he grinned and wanted to flip his hair but couldn’t since the back of arms were stuck to the wall. The classroom looked odd in this position. He looked at his classmates practising the spells for a moment before turning his gaze towards Penelope when he saw her getting ready.
It felt…uncomfortable… having a wand pointed at you. Even if he trusted her to do the spell right he still silently prayed that she wouldn’t catch his hair on fire or something like that. He shook the thought away and when the girl shouted the incantation he waited for a second.
And another one…He struggled against the wall. ”I don’t think it worke-WOAH!” He felt himself slip down the wall and fell to the ground. It was surprisingly cushiony… ”Good job!” he held up his hand to high five her.

So it was a very well-known fact that Brian was lousy at Charms. He could be positive about it all he wanted, but it didn't change the fact that it took him at least 8 tries to do simple spells and he couldn't even light the fire beneath his cauldron magically. Nah, he wasn't bitter. Doing things the Muggle way was cool too, but generally unreliable since everything went cuckoo in this place. So when the Professor man said that they were going to have to partner up, he sighed in relief. He wouldn't be alone.
Except, they were running at walls? Last time he checked, that HURT. But the professor said it was padded. Brian'd trust him, but he still needed someone to unstick him. So he went to the first person his mind thought of - his favourite prefect. Poking the older boy's arm, he grinned sheepishly. "Help needed?" By Brian, obviously, but Adi knew that. Finger-wiggle!waves for everyone else there. Quite the congregation.

Well woulda looky there. Brian was needing a partner? Or help in general? He was getting the attention of Adi at the moment. It seemed like Brian was going to be needing help with the spell work. AJ could help out there. Marsha could run, and AJ would be at the ready in case assistance was needed.
"I got your back." Just in case. "I bet Brian will be able to do it no problem though." Positive vibes never hurt anyone. AJ held her wand at the ready just in case. Not because she didn't have faith in her fellow classmate, but because she wanted Marsha and Brian both to have a go with both parts. It was so much fun.

Adi grinned at AJ. "Whatever you want to think, AJ.'' As his girlfriend went over to Marsha, at the precise moment Adi felt a poke in his arm. Looking down he saw Brian. His second year badger! "Heeeey, Brian!'' Help? OF COURSE! This Puff was always willing to do so!
And it seemed Marsha needed a partner. "Why don't we let them work together?'' he suggested to AJ. "We can always help either of them if they need it.'' Yep, kiddos. You're going to practice and master this spell! Seeee? Even Marsha seemed to be thinking along the same lines. "Alrightey, Marsha! Go for it!''
To Brian... "Remember the V is pronunced as W in the incantation. Concentrate well and you'll be able to do unstick Marsha.'' There was nothing like encouragement, riiiight?

The words rang around in his skull, thudding around without their meaning sinking in until about 7 seconds later. That was definitely long enough for an awkward silence to form. And then the panic set in. Did Marsha not know how ridiculously awful he was at this? Really, it was like the magical quill thing that wrote people's names down who were magical had made some serious mistake because there was so little magic he could do. It was ridiculous.
Ten seconds had passed since Marsha had launched herself at the wall before Brian realised that she wasn't going to unstick herself. And he was going to have to help. What was the counter-charm again? "Avexis," he said, pointing at Marsha's stuck-to-the-wall body but nothing happened. "Avexis," he said, testing out a different intonation.

Brian was starting to get a little frustrated, but his inner Hufflepuff kicked in. He was going to suffer through this and get Marsha down or he might never be able to find a charms partner ever again. Exaggeration, maybe, but it did help to motivate him to try again. "Thanks, guys," he said, very grateful. Yeah. Thanks for not giving up on him despite his utter inability to do this right. Or any spell. NEVERMIND. There was a first time for everything, and that included getting a spell right within the first ten attempts. "I'm sorry it's taking so long!" he called out at the girl three feet in the air on the wall. Well, at least she knew he wasn't doing this on purpose.
"Ah-weck-sis?" he said, pointing his wand at Marsha. It came out as more of a question, but he felt like the pronunciation was coming along better this tie. "Ahwecksis. Avexis." Aaaany time now would be good, wand. Please cooperate. This was actual useful magic and he would very much like to be able to do it, thank you. "Avexis."
Oh, awesome! Angel was okay with Kate being stuck to the wall! Kate was hoping her partner would be okay with her taking that role. It just looked so awesome and so much fun! "Okay, so you know how to do the charm, right?" she asked her. It would be really, really bad if Kate got stuck to the wall only for Angel to not know how to do the charm.
"Well, ready or not, here I go!" she exclaimed. She was just way too excited for her own good. Kate got a running start then bounced on the trampoline area just before the sticky wall. She thought about doing a flip and landing upside down, but she didn't know how long she'd end up being there.
Kate didn't flip, but she did end up sideways with her head facing more to the bottom than to the top. Okay, so now it was all up to Angel!
Angel looked at Kate and smiled as it seemed her friend was totally up for being attacked and now she was going to try and figure out how to get her down.
"Okay Kate!" Angel looked at her wand. "Don't worry, I'm sure I can do this." Angel pointed her wand at the wall. "Ah-wrecked-ship!" Angel pointed her wand at her friend. "Ah-wreck-sis!" Angel tried again but nothing happened she looked at her wand. "Angel says work so work please?" Angel looked at her wand and hoped maybe that would help.

Kate was suddenly glad she didn't decide to flip and hang upside down. Just being sideways was already starting to make her a little disoriented. Hopefully Angel would get her down soon, and she wouldn't have to worry about getting dizzy or anything like that.

That would be funny if Kate's life didn't depend on it. "Avexis!" she reminded the girl. She paused and waited for Angel to try again, and when she did, it was again the wrong pronunciation. "Avexis!" Kate said again. "You can do it!" ...hopefully.

Marsha watched him as he got frustrated and then calmed down and seemed to focus. YES. That focus was what she always needed to get charms right. Ask Professor Quiggley - she wasn’t good at getting them right first time either… and that was usually due to her accent, her lack of concentration and her imperfect wand movements… but she normally got there and she knew that Brian would too.
Yup yup.
”Don’t be silly! Take your time. You’ll manage.” She smiled at him, and just closed her eyes and rested against the padded wall. You know, Professor Quiggley was right, this wall really was quite comfortable… With her eyes closed she could even probably imagine herself lying down and on a bed. Hmmm… but could she get a quick nap in? That was the major question.
Unfortunately, the answer was no. Too many people shouting Avexis wrong… or right - one or the other… but too loud regardless.
OH! Opening her eyes, she grinned at Brian when she heard him pronouncing it like she had. There we go! She’d be free anyyyytime now. As he said it again, she BEAMED at him as she sprung free from the padded wall. ”Yes! Congratulations!” She cheered for the Hufflepuff as she bounced once on the trampoline and bounced onto the hardness of the floor.
Grinning widely, she ran over to him and patted him on the back. ”Your turn.” She grinned at him, motioning to the wall.
That grin was a little unnerving, did he know that? While she'd done her best not to LOOK like a fool while being stuck to a wall (which was NOT easy!!!), Maggie still wasn't exactly comfortable. She felt really really really exposed right now. What if Toby didn't unstick her? What if he wasn't the nice innocent Hufflepuff that he appeared to be? What if he was evil at heart?
No but, she'd picked him for a reason. She was good at reading people. Sort of. It would be fine.
When he pointed his wand at her, Maggie took a deep breath. It would be fine. It would be fine. She'd managed to look graceful stuck to a wall. She could do anything. She was the best. Toby wouldn't try to hurt her. Or make fun of her. It was going to be fine. Yes. Yes. Yes. It was going to be fi-
.....and then Maggie GRACEFULLY fell off the wall and GRACEFULLY landed face first on the bouncy part of the floor.
"Hmpf."
Toby had noticed no sudden inner doubts or turmoil or worrying on Maggie's part. Nope. None at all. Perhaps he should have been a little more in tune to his young Charms partner's feelings and stuff, but some people were good at being cooooool, calm, and collected, and Toby wasn't always great at picking up on certain things.
BUT ANYWAY. The spell had WORKED and NOTHING HAD CAUGHT FIRE, which was a huge bonus. And then Maggie was falling falling falling GRACEFULLY and-... oh...
"You okay there, Maggie?" Toby asked hopefully, holding out a hand to help her up if she wanted it. She was down, though. They'd both done the spell right. HUZZAH!

Brian beamed right back at her, throwing in a quick squeeze for good measure because where was the harm in that? Call it Hufflepuff instinct, that thing that made him hug constantly. Anyway, that wasn't the important thing. He'd managed to do the thing after like seven attempts? It had to be at least six. Whatever it was, it called for celebration.
After a mental jig, he grinned sheepishly at Marsha and took a deep breath. "Last time I checked, walls hurt but I'll give it a shot." And with that, he started running and with great thanks to his mother who insisted he do high jump in school, jumped off the trampoline and about four and a half feet into the air. Not bad, considering he was out of practice. Now, he'd just stay here on this very comfy wall for a bit.
Kate was suddenly glad she didn't decide to flip and hang upside down. Just being sideways was already starting to make her a little disoriented. Hopefully Angel would get her down soon, and she wouldn't have to worry about getting dizzy or anything like that.
Wrecked ship?!
That would be funny if Kate's life didn't depend on it. "Avexis!" she reminded the girl. She paused and waited for Angel to try again, and when she did, it was again the wrong pronunciation. "Avexis!" Kate said again. "You can do it!" ...hopefully.

"Angels-wrecked-a-ship!" Angel did the wand movement but still this was wrong. "Angel says work, so please work!" Angel shook her wand but nothing was happening.
Angel stopped for a couple of seconds to get her breath back and tried to get her composure back. "Avexis!!!" Angel did the wand movement and prayed that it worked.

Marsha was happy. She loved it when her friends got things right - especially when they got them right and they were assuming that they were going to do worse than they did. That was a great feeling… and hey - she didn’t realllly know Brian, but they had plenty of time hehehe. They were still yooooooung.
”It’s okay, I promise the wall is really comfy. Just like the Professor said.” She called out to him as he started to run towards the wall. Honestly, she thought it would have been perfect it the floor was padded - she could have slept right there and then… but then that wasn’t productive for the lesson, sooooo maybe not.
Once Brian had attached himself to the wall, Marsha grinned at him as he gave her the go ahead. ”Okay, here’s hoping that when I freed Dot earlier it wasn’t just a one-time fluke! She didn’t think it was though, she had tried it on herself a good few times before she had given up and had worked on someone else. It had just seemed more sensible that way… that if it didn’t work on yourself to test it on a friend. Yup.
Okay. Here she went. She could do this. She totally could.
Taking a single deep breath, she thought about what she wanted to do, the incantation and the wand movement. ”Avexis!” she said, as she pointed her wand at the second year who was stuck to the wall…. but hopefully not for long. Hmm… five seconds later and he was still stuck to the wall.

Kate nodded as Angel told her not to worry. Kate was only slightly worried. If Angel couldn't perform the charm, there was at least somebody in here who could. Surely in a class full of students and a professor, somebody in here had mastered the spell. "It's okay, Angel! I know you can do it," she encouraged.
She frowned as Angel continued to say the wrong incantation. How hard could Avexis be? Kate was just about to correct the girl again, when Angel finally said the correct incantation. "That's it!" Kate exclaimed, and she wiggled just a bit. "It's working! I'm starting to break away from the wall!" Only one or two more tries, and she should be freed from the wall!
"Try it again! I bet you can get it with one more try!" she told her.

"I'm already ten steps ahead of you," she said to Adi with a crooked grin. Didn't he hear her words of encouragement? She was totally going to let those two try it out, and if anybody got in a sticky (heh) spot then she would be there to help. Adi too of course.
Like a proud mama, AJ watched as Marsha ran at the wall. "Nice jump." That was the easier part, and the best part if you asked her. "Brilliant work, Brian." See? They had this in the bag. No help was needed.
"You guys are awesome." She would still be here if they needed her though. For now she was merely a cheerleader.

Having launched himself at the wall, he was pretty grateful that he'd had the presence of mind to turn his face so his nose didn't stick into the soft wall. Soft wall, what an oxymoron. The Wizarding World just got weirder and weirder every day. It was so comfy, he had to consciously tell himself not to sleep on it. The noise didn't bother him at all. Nope. Sleeping was his thing. Possibly his greatest talent, the ability to sleep anywhere and at any time. Sleeping vertical was generally a bad idea, though, so he'd just stick with the couches in the common room, his bed and the spot by the lake.
" 'mshoreitwasnf," he said, the words coming out barely distinguishable. Talking with half your face stuck to the wall was difficult, okay? And he grinned as best he could with half his face at AJ's comment. "Yerprett'coolyerself, yayjay." A REAL STRUGGLE, but she just had to know. Besides, compliments were always a good idea.
After Marsha's first attempt, he tried wiggling free of the wall but to no avail. "Yuvegothis." Which she did, because the next time she cast the counter-charm, he fell onto the floor in a crumpled heap. Picking himself up and bounding towards the group he GRINNED. High five for you, Marsha Hanover. "That was great!"
