Making the long trek down from the Astronomy Tower to the Black Lake, you may be a bit surprised to see what looks like a large circular platform floating out about 50 yards into the water. While you can't make out exactly what they are at the moment because of the distance, you are able to see small colorful blobs in each of the four Hogwarts' house's colors. The water, which you may be accustomed to looking calm, appears a bit uneasy and laps up onto the shore with a bit more gusto than usual.
Woah...wait...was that a tentacle just now?!
Professor Flamsteed, with the usual eager grin upon his face, beckons you all to continue following him as he steps into the water and...APPEARS TO BE WALKING ON IT?! Following his lead, you discover this not to be the case but rather there is a slightly submerged platform that allows you to walk out to the floating game arena. Aren't you glad you brought the proper footwear today?
One you have arrived at the floating platform, you discover that the colorful shapes are actually sandcastles scattered about haphazardly around the perimeter with some closer to the edge than others. The water from the lake laps up against the platform and just barely comes over the top of it. Hmmm...how very peculiar...
ANNOUNCEMENTS No more green castles! GRYFFINDOR WINS! Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin
Post 2: 1 Red, RAVVIE PLAN (also talking about Bartholomew)
Jupiter's Satellite
Still drawing on her previously cast spell, Tora focused on the next wave to try and knock down another red castle. WHOOOOSH. Although it was a lot smaller than the previous wave she created, it still managed to disintegrate a lovely red castle. Yeah! She would definitely have to recast the spell though before she took on another wave... or her plan.
How disappointing, only one Ravvie to help? Oh well... at least it was another seventh year. Hopefully their combined power would be enough. "Okay, so you see the squid? To me it looks like it's right behind a bunch of Hufflepuff and Gryffindor castles, but only one of ours," she started explaining. If any other Ravenclaws joined in they could catch up on the plan later. They had to move fast before all the Ravenclaw castles were destroyed. "So if we work together and create a HUGE wave maybe we can wash our squid friend up on the platform and its flailing about will knock over a bunch of sandcastles all at once! It'll do the work for us."
She grinned at her fellow Ravvie. "What do you say?" she asked, already turning to the waves and muttering "Aquatraxi Gravita."
Norah's arm holding the wand above her head had started to ache by the time she could concentrate on the spell again. Everything was just so loud and EXCITING, y'know? But yes, arm, spell, that. Gravity, why ever it was called that.
"Aquatraxa Gravityyy" TAP. Hold up. That was wrong. She shook her head (with her eyes CLOSED because sand was still flying out of there) and set her wand up again. Aquatraxi Gravita Right. That was it. Who knew where they other thing had come from. Darned excitement. "Aquatraxi Gravita!" TAPPITY TAP. She wasn't entirely sure if it'd worked, but she didn't pause to check (not that she really knew how to check) before running as fast as her purple wellies would take her towards the nearest castle. HI CASTLE. This one was the Gryffindor kind, so she gave a soft "Rooooooar" as the wave came and knocked it over.
Apparently the spell had worked. Awesomesauce. Norah twirled around above ruins of the castle before flouncing over to the next one and stomping on the sand around it as the next wave came rolling over the castle. Another Gryffindor one. Pooooooor lions. Heh
Grateful for the help, Toby hauled himself back up onto almost-but-not-really dry land. He stood at the edge of the platform and peered back over the edge to try and see the squid and wave his thanks. But nope, couldn't see him. Aw, well... that was okay though.
"I, uh... huh?" What? Mouth to mouth? Toby was only just processing what Dot was saying and looked back at her. "I don't think I need that," he replied, finally breaking into a grin. "I'm alive and kicking." He did a little jig on the spot to prove it.
And, as he looked down to check on his kicking feet, he watched a wave of water approach him and knock out a nearby blue sandcastle. Huh. That was unintentionally convenient. Apparently his spell HAD worked.
But... yeah. All the physical activity was catching up with him. Toby was totally wiped out. IT HAD BEEN A LONG LESSON. Lots of falling and potential drowning and all.
"Lovely day for a swim," he remarked, looking back at Dot again. Like it was all totally intentional, yep! Hopefully she hadn't seen him stack it right into the water, ahem.

All she had to do was stand by the castle she wanted to knock down and perform the spell which would then make a wave come and destroy the sand castle. It seemed easy enough. Now that Slytherin was out of the running, there were only red and yellow castles to choose from. She would start with a red one. Penelope firmly tapped her wand on her head. "Aquatraxi Gravita!" A wave came towards the red castle, knocking it over. Now for a second castle, another red this time. Penelope tapped her head with her wand to refresh the spell. "Aquatraxi Gravita!" The red sand castle was knocked over by a wave.
She was getting better at the spell with each castle she knocked over. This activity was actually fun, and so far she hadn't fallen in the lake or anything. Perhaps this really was going to be a good year for her in Flamsteed's class. What was this about a Ravenclaw strategy? Penelope walked over to the girl who had called the Ravenclaws over. A big wave? If they all clumped together near the yellow and red sandcastles, it might actually work. She wasn't so sure about the giant squid part of the plan, though. The spell might not work on the squid, and even if it worked she did not really want to get squished by a giant squid. Professor Flamsteed as well as other Hogwarts faculty wouldn't be pleased if all of the Ravenclaws were injured in an accident involving the giant squid. The squid wouldn't get that close to them, would it? Even if the squid part of the plan didn't work out, the big wave could still work.

ALL GINGER AGAIN!!!
"Thank you!!!" she said, wrapping her arms around the boy's waist and hugging him tight. She squeezed him for a second, until she wasn't panicking about her hair anymore, then looked up at him. "I'm Rusty." she said, since she'd hugged him so she should probably tell him her name. "And I think I might be able to focus now." After all... What else could go wrong??
She sidled over to a green sand castle, then closed her eyes for a second and tried to envision herself as a water magnet .. Which wasn't easy, but she did it. "Aquatraxi Gravita. " She tapped herself on the head with her wand, and in a few moments a wave crashed over the sandcastle...
"IT WORKED!!"
Aww! Just look at how happy she was! Even though he could have seen how apprehensive she had been when he had was about to cast the counter spell. Adi couldn't stop himself from smiling broadly. Gosh! He loved helping out SO MUCH! But he was taken aback by the hug. So far the girl had seem distant with him but he figured that was because she was unable to have the spell done and now she seemed much happier. But yaaay for hugs! This was one dude that liked those!
Adi squished her back around the shoulder because she was so short, yo. "You're welcome, Rusty,'' he said happily. "I'm Adi.'' He had totally forgotten if he had introduced himself earlier. Hehe. "Great! Let's demolish some castles together then,'' was his suggestion and in a way hoping to motivate Rusty get as much sandcastles down so that she could have as much practice as possible.
Deciding to watch her do her thing, Adi stood patiently behind a blue sandcastle. While he was watching Rusty attract a wave, he failed to realise he was attracting one as well. Not until water and sand lapped onto and around his feet that he barely took in what had happened. But forget that!
"YOU DID IT, RUSTY!" Oh yeah! That's how it's done! "Well done! High five!'' His hand was waiting. Hehe.
Henric laughed,"What principle has got anything to do in war?! HEY! How many are you destroying?! llia! Don't you dar-...urgh...nevermind,"he frowned as he watched another of his yellow castles crumbled down.Note to self: Not to anger llia, she could pack a punch if she wanted to.
"Fine, truce!" he called back." You still owe me one yellow castle back!"
Henric glanced back at the professor when he announced the current score now.Oh Gryffindor was leading! That wouldn't do...that wouldn't do at all! He needed to find a way to get to their side quick before their time runs out.
"We should get the Reds! Come on!" Henric shouted to llia.
He sprinted towards the Gryffindors side and stood behind one of their castles. Henric was about to recite the incantation but he was pushed into the water suddenly. Fortunately,he managed to grab hold of the platform in time and pulled himself in before Mr.Batholomew could get to him.
Henric was completely drenched now, thanks to whoever pushed him in. That was it, no more Mr.Nice guy. He stalked back to the Gryffindors side again and called upon the waters with sheer concentration. This time it would be a more bigger wave.
"AQUATRAXI GRAVITAA!" he exclaimed and before he knew it, the waves came like a mini tsunami and washed away two of the Red sandcastles. He let out a satisfying grin.
Ilia grinned and giggled as he called after her. If he didn't want a war he shouldn't have started it. If there were no principles, there were no rules or fair fighting either. After her little castle crashing rampage, Henric had agreed to a truce. Shame really but she nodded and called back to him. "Alright, I won't take out any more yellow." He wanted a castle back? How did he expect her to do that? When he suggested the reds though and she saw how many reds had been taking out green castles she eagerly agreed. "Instead of replacing a yellow, I will take out two reds!" Vengeance and apologies , two with one.
Ilia rushed off toward the next red castle that she saw, recasting "Aquatraxi Gravita!" as she ran. Standing by the castle she looked around for her friend , but saw him dip into the water. Concerned, she started to move towards him, but he pulled himself out. Behind her, the wave had come to take the castle she was asking it to.......though her view and attention was on Henric. *CRASH* The wave hit the castle and she got splashed all of the way up her back.
Shaking herself off, she watched him to make sure that he was ok. He took out two more red castles and she figured that meant he was alright. Laughing a little, she headed off for another red castle when she heard the professors announcement. No more what!? She looked around , seeing the evidence to the truthful words the professor had spoken. Sadness didn't settle with her, on the contrary......she now feel an even larger need to destroy all of the red castles. If she couldn't win, they wouldn't either if she had anything to do with it.
Rushing towards her next target, she saw another Hufflepuff (that nasty burper) holding Henric down with him into a wave. She frowned a little and detoured in her friends direction. She paused by a red castle as she watched. Wasn't he water logged by now? Did that make two dunks in the waves for him? "Are you alright Henric?" She asked from not far away. The waves rolled through to meet her moonly gravity and in the process, swept the red castle beside her slowly away into a pool of crimson sand art.

She grinned at her fellow Ravvie. "What do you say?" she asked, already turning to the waves and muttering "Aquatraxi Gravita."
The big wave thing was a good idea, as long as it didn't wash away all the students. She hoped that most of the students were good swimmers. The squid had a limited number of tentacles that could be used to help students, and if the squid got washed up onto the platform there would be other problems. "I think we'll have a stronger gravitational pull if we stand close together." Or something like that. "The wave could work, but the squid might move before we can wash it up on the platform, and I don't think squids are meant to be washed up." Taking aquatic animals out of water was generally not good for their wellbeing. Not to mention what might happen if the Ravenclaws were squashed by the giant squid or drowned or something. But that wasn't going to happen. She was probably just being totally pessimistic about the squid part of the plan because of all the other times she had gotten hurt in astronomy class activities. Professor Flamsteed wouldn't have them participate in anything really dangerous, would he? The squid was not likely to get fully washed up on the platform if they succeeded, so they probably weren't going to die.
While the other Ravenclaws discussed the plan, Penelope was going to destroy some yellow sandcastles. Standing by a yellow castle, she tapped her wand on her head."Aquatraxi Gravita." A wave knocked over the yellow sandcastle. Moving to another sandcastle, she tapped her wand on her head again. "Aquatraxi Gravita." Another wave destroyed the second yellow castle.

Having been content in his rhythmic movements to provide waves as the Astronomy professor had requested, the giant squid found himself rather indignant when he over heard one of the students speaking.
Bartholomew Henry may be a squid, but he certainly was not deaf. Nor was he stupid.
Putting a bit more strength into his thrashings and made sure to splash the student and her companions. Pleased with himself, he waved one of his tentacles back and forth.
HIIII THERE SQUID DUDE. HI HI HI. Norah was absolutely GIDDY in her waving at the squid who looked like he was waving back as he splashed that Ravenclaw girl. What'd she do to get splashed? Could this Puffer get splashed TOO? "Heeeeey! Mr. Squid, sir? Bartholomew Henry? Would you splash me too pretty please?" It was a lovely day to be splashed, don't ya think? Plus the water would help get the leftover sand out of her hair from those sand angels, because it was starting to make her head feel all itchy. Her hair didn't even smell like strawberries anymore, but that was A-Okay becuse lake water was a MUCH more exciting smell than strawberries. Everybody knew that.
She rubbed more sand out of her hair as she marched towards another Ravenclaw Castle. With a hand on her wand just in case the spell had already worn off, she planted herself behind the castle and WHAM. Another wave. Bye bye, castle.

Tsk tsk tsk. No cheating, Ravenclaw.
Splash! Penelope moved back a bit when the water splashed up at her. "I don't think the giant squid approves of the plan." So that meant no squid to knock over yellow and red sandcastles for them. "Making a huge wave could work without the squid." It didn't take a giant squid to make a giant wave. They could do this. Penelope was going to try to destroy more red and yellow sandcastles. She was standing by a red sandcastle. Tapping her wand on her head, she clearly recited the incantation. "Aquatraxi Gravita." The red sandcastle was knocked over by a wave. Maybe it would be possible for Ravenclaws to win even if they didn't have the squid or a huge wave. Now for another sandcastle. Penelope took her position behind the sandcastle, a yellow one this time. She tapped her wand on her head. "Aquatraxi Gravita." Water came closer to Penelope, washing away the yellow sandcastle. Another sandcastle destroyed. Ravenclaw could win this.

It was as Heather was pulling herself up for the zillionth time that she overheard a Ravenclaw speaking. About cheating. And getting splashed by the squid in response. Hehe. Serves them right. Idiots. "Nice one, Mr. Henry!"
Spotting two blue castles together, she decided to show those Ravenclaws how it was really done, without cheating. Dashing over, Heather waited for the wave to come up. And just like that, the Eagles were sans two more castles.

The next castles that Penelope spotted near her were two red castles close enough together that she should be able to destroy them with one wave. First she would refresh the spell to make sure that it would be strong enough to get both of the sandcastles. "Aquatraxi Gravita," she said as she tapped her head with her wand. The wave came up, destroying both of the red castles. They would be out of time soon, so she wanted to get as many red and yellow castles as she could. Except for the slight risk of falling in the lake, there was little chance that she would get hurt during the activity. It was fun being a gravitational force that represented the moon.

So Brian had somewhat strategically found himself behind two red blobs of sand. Those were the sandcastles, probably. He was right about to cast the charm thing when Professor Flamsteed announced that all the green castles had been destroyed. AHEM. One down, just Gryffindor and Ravenclaw to go.
"Aquatraxi Gravita," he said, tapping his head with his wand. And then he waited. And waited. But no wave. Hmm. Maybe he should try again.
OH, was that water inching towards him? Didn't look very convincing.
After succeeding in washing away the red sandcastle, Leah moved around the rotating platform in search of another one to destroy. There were no more Slytherin castles, so she only had to worry about reds and blues. Oooh, there was a spare blue one at the edge of the platform.
The Hufflepuff jogged towards her next victim target. She was about two steps away from the blue castle when - OUCH. Her foot smacked into a yellow sandcastle in her way. Leah jumped on one foot for a moment before noticing that this sand did not FEEL like sand. More like a rock, actually. Nice job, Professor.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey! No fair Sir Bartholomew Henry! He wanted to play!
Pouting like a toddler being told he could not have his favorite sweetie while on a trip to Honeydukes, Airey checked his sundial watch real fast and then cast his gaze on the arena just in time to see the LAST sandcastle get washed away.
"DISENGAGE! DISENGAGE!" he shouted, flapping his arms so much it was a wonder he did not take flight. "That's game! Everyone go ahead and cast Finite on yourselves to remove the spell. And well done!"
He shook his head towards the Ravenclaw girls in an amused manner. Still jealous that the squid of all things had participated more than himself. Although...the professor had managed to wash away half a sandcastle...
Never mind.
"First house to have all their sandcastles washed away by the tide...was Slytherin house," he proclaimed. Blazing comets was he going to gloat about this to Cecelia. He still found the woman terrifying, but it was kind of fun seeing how riled up he could get her before fleeing for his life. Really, quite the rush. "Second, were the blue castles of Ravenclaw...and third..." He paused for a moment do create a drum roll on his thighs with the palms of his hands. "Hufflepuff. Which means...CONGRATULATIONS to Gryffindor for staying dry the longest. Additional house points will be rewarded to each house based on their ranking."
Nothing too extreme, of course. It was purely coincidential who had won as far as he was concerned. Although...he DID recall Slytherin being the first to get knocked out of previous activities like this one. Huh. Oh well!
"Class dismissed. Homework will be posted on my notice board later today. Be sure to thank Bartholomew Henry on your way back to shore. And remember! Our Moon is more than just a differentiated body floating out there in space and orbiting around us. It controls the tides, helps regulate our climate slowing the Earth's rotation thus creating our 24 hour days, keeps our night from being a complete black abyss, and it helps maintain our axial tilt!"

OOC: thank you all for coming <33
I will try to post the homework before I head to bed tonight, so be sure to keep an eye on Sky News for that. See you all next time
I'll leave this thread open for another 12 hours

Class was over already?
Awwwww. Lux had wanted to play some more because she was having so much fun, but at least Hufflepuff and Gryffindor had stayed in the running for the longest. Yay. That made her happy, and the Lions had won which was fantastic. Flammy must also be happy about that since it was his House.
The spell was ended, and grabbing her bag, she was ready to go. "Thanks for the awesome lesson, Professor!" He always had the most amazing activities in his lessons and that was why she liked the subject so much. With a wave goodbye she headed back to the castle after thanking the squid.
She jumped slightly at Flamsteed's voice. The activity was over already? But she had barely done anything! Leah did not even bother to remove the spell from herself. She knew from approaching the blue sandcastle eariler that the effect had worn off.
Leah ran a hand through her hair as she listened to the rankings. Hufflepuff in second place? Not baaad. If it was any other Head of House, she would have said something about them being biased to their own House, but this was Flamsteed. He never showed particular affection to any Houses... right?
Once class was dismissed, she pocketed her wand and grabbed her bag from the shore. "Thank you Mr Bartholomew Henry," she smiled as she walked by, "and YOU, Professor Flamsteed. Bye!" And off to the castle she went.

Hady had been ready to continue her destruction of sandcastles even though her house ones were already gone when she heard Professor Airey announce they were finished. Listening silently to whom had won and such and the reminder about homework she brushed sand from her clothing.
"Bye Bartholomew Henry thanks for your help!" she called out to the Giant Squid sending a wave his way before waving at the Professor also. "Awesome lesson Professor, have a great day!" Hady grinned brightly even as she rubbed the still rather sore spot on the side of her head. Making her way from the platform she grabbed her bag and headed back towards the common room.

Zeke pumped his fists into the air in celebration of all things castle-bashing. Epic lesson, just, EPIC. Who'd have thought that the moon could crush them with waves if it was closer than what it was. Scary cool.
"Thanks for the lesson, Professor," he beamed, never mind that he was wet in more places than he could count without fingers. So worth it. SO worth it.
"And thanks to you too Bartholomew Henry," Zeke added, waving to the Giant Squid as he headed back to shore to collect his bag. He'd need to go change... it had to happen, so, yeah.

Slytherin was in last place. It sucked to to be them. Ravenclaw came in third place. Nooo... he was stopping for dramatic affect and AJ didn't know if her little heart could take it. When he started to speak again AJ sucked in air and waited with bated breath...
Hufflepuff was in second which meant...
GRYFFINDOR WINS!!! EEEEP. AJ jumped up and down all the while the water in her galoshes squished. Her toes had to be little prunes by now, but who cared when you were soaking in sweet, sweet victory!!!
"ROAR, ROAR, GRYFFINDOR!" Because house pride was a thing, and AJ was super proud to be a lion! It was time to get the spell off of her. "Finite." All better. "Thanks for the epic lesson, professor." Annnnd how about them lions? AJ was on her way back to the shore. All she needed to do was scoop up her bag and head up to her dorm for a shower.
Tora saw the huge wave about to roll over Bartholomew when SPLASH! Suddenly Tora didn't find herself standing anymore, but instead was sprawled on the platform coughing up waves. "Hey!" she got out before another wave crashed over her, probably attracted to her still active spell. "Finite, Finite, FINITE!" she gasped and flipped over onto her back, panting a little. Well. That didn't work quite as planned...
"Sorry, sorry! It was just an idea!" she shouted at the squid before turning to her fellow Ravenclaws. "And sorry for getting you guys soaked too, but thanks for helping." It really was too bad that class ended before she could knock down any more Gryffindor sandcastles. Perhaps next time they had a fun class activity?
Trodding over to where Professor Airey was announcing the homework, Tora clapped (a little sullenly) for the Gryffindor team. "Great class Professor!" she waved goodbye and squelched off the platform, making sure to give a polite goodbye to Bartholomew. Just in case, you know?

Marsha was just making her way to take on a Hufflepuff castle when Professor Airey called off the attacks. Turning round, she looked at him with a slightly sheepish grin - though he was the one who had told them to attack in the first place. BEEEE THHHEEE MOOOON remember?
”Wooooooo! Go Gryffindor!” The excitable eleven year old shouted with a smile as she followed the other Gryffindors in showing their support for their house and team mates. Hehe.
”Class was awesome, Professor Airey! Thanks and see you see!” Bye bye Bartholomew! She thought as she waved good bye to the squid. ”Bye!” She added as she picked up her things from the banks.
Hmmm. She was still dry, so did she want to go and get a snack or a shower or …. shrugging she followed the crowds away from the lake.

Ah, man! Class was over already? Just when he had spotted the Giant Squid too! Hmph. "HEEEEEY, SIR BATHOLOMEW!'' Adi waved enthusiastically in the Squid's direction. Would he remember the Puffer?
"Finite!'' And it seemed Hufflepuff had brought second place! Woot! Not bad! Congrats, Gryffies! The sixth year turned to Rusty. "All set to head back to the castle?" he asked.
....................
"Awesome lesson, Professor but an even MORE awesome activity! I'll see you around. Sorry again for my earlier comment about the voice lessons. Bye!'' Bye to you two Mr Squid! Thanks for playing along.
Norah tried her very hardest not to make a pouty face as Professor Flamsteed stopped the activity, because fourth years did NOT pout. Fourth years nodded maturely as if it didn't matter that the bestest class so far was coming to an end. It was a lot more boring but at least it was the grown up way, and that was important too.
And second place was pretty goooood! Yeah Puffers YEAAH. She pointed her wand at herself and cast a firm "Finite" because she wasn't entirely sure if the spell from before had worn off, and then inched to the edge of the platform. "Byeee Bartholomew Henry. Thanks for everything. I'll come visit soon, I promise." What a cool dude. Squid, whatever. Cool Dude Squid. That could be his official title. Even more official that Bartholomew Henry 'cause it was far more exciting.
Shaking her head to get more sand out of her hair, which was being very stubborn for some reason and not wanting to leave, and made her way over to Professor Flamsteed and held her hand out for a high five. Or a salute, you know whatever floated his boat. "Thanks for a great class, professor." She did a little tap dance with her purple boots before marching away so she could here the fun noise wellingtons made with every step. Stuff that made noise was just so cool, y'know? She knew. "Is there any present besides the house point, Professor?" He asked. Hehehehe. "Well uh... Thank you very much for the lesson today. It was very fun." He slightly bowed to Flamsteed.
