The class hasn't changed this year too: the proper chairs with soft cushions are still there to sit and lean back on, and they are still charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. The walls are still a soft, calming blue. There are still one big, grey rubbish bin by the door and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm (a short hose to direct the water to the cauldron is on the white, porcelain shelf hung on the wall, in case it doesn't fit the washbasin).
Professor Cosgrach is sitting at his desk, looking a little tired but well otherwise.
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the bin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The class HAS begun, so please don't post yourself late but pretend as if you've been here all the time.
Potion Progress
1 jobberknoll feather
half a unicorn tail hair
three leech head
half a ginger root
ten carrots
a bunch of knotgrass
one wormwood
ten crow feathers
one common spider
two crocodile teeth
Add the jobberknoll feather without any water or fire
Lay half the unicorn hair onto the feather vertically.
Add a litre of water
Add the leech heads one by one
With a metal stick, stir it clockwise for ten times (Clean the metal stick before and after using)
Add half the ginger root
Wait for two minutes
Add ten cubes of ice all at once
Wait until they melt and grate five of the carrots in the meantime. Add the ungrated ones at once, and sprinkle the grated ones
Tie the wormwood around knotgrass and add them (If everything has been right, the steam will make you nauseous)
Stir eleven times clockwise with wooden stick. Do clean it before using.
Add two crow feathers. Stir once clockwise with metal stick. Add another two feathers and stir clockwise with metal stick again. Go on like this until all feathers are added. Do not stir after the last couple of feathers. (You don't have to remove metal every time to clean it - just keep it inside the cauldron until last feather is added.)
Add the spider
Add one crocodile tooth, wait until the potion grumbles, then add the second
Wait until the potion turns your favourite colour (takes about 3 days)
Colour: is the favourite colour of the person who's looking at it
Effect: It makes you hate the first person you see, sharpens your tongue: you are very ready to point out the faults of that person
The taste is bitter and will remain for a day
Duration: Depends on the drinker - if they are prone to hatred, it'll be longer (roungly 3-5 hours)
Effect on drinker: He/she will experience fatigue once the effect wears off

Caleb didn't need to make a potion to have people hate him, he was sure of it. Ah well, he knew that MAKING the potion would be able to take his mind off of everything, at least for a while. Potions tended to be the perfect time for that. Starting now, while gathering his ingredients. Ok brain - OFF.
"Scourgify," he muttered, remembering that the entire basis of a good potion was a clean cauldron. Once that was done, he put his wand back down and took the feather and dropped it in the cauldron. No water? That was...odd.

Time for the activity since Kace heard the professor start the lesson while he was doodling. He heard he needed to clean out his cauldron and add a jobberknoll feather. But he didn't need to add the fire and water? Interesting. He needed to clean everything because the potion was sensitive. He made a mental note of that. He had his cauldron all up on his desk. He got his wand from his robes and pointed at it, "Scourgify!" and then it seemed all clean.
He then got the jobberknoll feather from storage and then added it to his freshly cleaned cauldron. It seemed lonely in there but it was the instructions so he waited till he heard from the professor.
Gregoire looked at his cauldron, and then back at his ingredients. When he heard the instruction to add the feather without fire or water he found it quite odd. Normally you'd at least add something to act as a base for an ingredient, especially something like a feather. Though, Gregoire was only a third year, and he won't question the professor about how odd of a task it was.
When he looked at one of his fellow snakes, he noticed they cast scourgifie- or scourgifi? Something like that to clean there cauldron. Gregoire didn't know that spell- well, he knew it, he just wasn't very good at it. He could hardly pronounce it in French. Gregoire would accidently blow himself up if he tried to say it in English. It made him happy though when he remembered he didn't need to clean his cauldron, since he just bought it. Phew!
Picking up the feather in his one hand, Gregoire gingerly set the feather into his cauldron. After he finished with that simple task he waited for further instruction on what to do.
Marisol sighed. A hate potion. Certainly a cheerful one for the first day of school. But it seemed fairly easy and she was awful at Potions, so she wasn't complaining.
She heaved her heavy cauldron to the center of her desk. It didn't seem as heavy as it had last year, so either it had shrunk (the result of some wacko potion) or she'd grown. Probably the latter.
Mari dropped a single feather in. It looked kinda lonely, and so hoped it didn't float away. They were in the dungeons. No breeze for miles. But the feather still seemed vulnerable.

Duncan?!...DUNCAN?! This Hufflepuff is APPALLED. How on Earth could he forget the name that connects to this FACE. He could not believe it. BY MERLIN!
Sure prof, he'll write down his name for you and he'll let that little mishap pass just this one time. GOSH.

A hate potion??? Interesting, but what it is used for? Is it for curing Hufflepuffs? Because he has noticed he's becoming, unbelievably, extremely friendly and it's freaking him out a bit, to be honest. Well, it was a good thing he wasn't sitting next to Grayson or he wouldn't of noticed a difference when taking the potion. LOLOLOLOL. Seriously, that kid was annoying.
Alrighty, off to cleaning his supplies as ush. "Scourgify!" He casted into his cauldron, repeating the spell a few more times on the rest of his supplies. Dec went to quickly wash his hands and then returned to plop the single jobberknoll feather into his empty cauldron.

Okay sooooooo this professor was a silver fox and all, but why should she care he's been around for three years? Would they be tested on that? She did write her name on a bit of paper though, she had no trouble with her name and had a pretty epic stylin' signature even, easy since it was just one big shape really.

A hate potion? Wouldn't that be lulzy to try on certain people? Her eyes slid around the room. Sooo lulzy.
The ingredients. He wasn't saying them out loud. Ruby watched everyone else instead and collected and readied the same ingredients as best she could. Easier that way. Ok. She cleaned her cauldron and utensils too and then thankfully he read the first step out. It wasn't that she couldn't exactly it was just that... well it would take a while and be really hard and it was just easier not to.
A Jobberknoll feather with no water or fire. She could do that no sweat. Ruby dropped it into the clean cauldron and looked around. And no, she didn't write anything down.

Cosgrach waved his wand and closed the door (yes, he was too lazy to get up, frankly). He turned at them then and got up almost reluctantly. His body was stiff, but he didn't show that... too much.

Annabeth was sleepy and tired but Potions was her favourite issue, no matter whatever was going around the world. And, besides someone had remembered her she was a fifth now and she had her OWLs to care about.
So Cosgrach wanted to teach them how to brew a hate potion? What a useless thing! Hating people was the easiest thing in the whole world, most of them were boring and stupid - at least it was the way she felt after spending all the holidays with her family. She glanced up over her shoulder; obviously that potion would be the only way to hate people as Adi and others, they were so kind and lovely guys. Why one would want to hate people? Anna was about to raise her hand to ask the teacher, when she gave up and began to take otes instead.

Hufflepuff Fifth Year

Potions Classroom
Potions One: The Hate Potion
This potion makes you hate the first person you see upon consuming it.
Ingredients 1 jobberknoll feather
half a unicorn tail hair
three leech head
half a ginger root
ten carrots
a bunch of knotgrass
one wormwood
ten crow feathers
one common spider
two crocodile teeth
Procedure Clean the cauldron (scourgify)
Add the jobberknoll feather (without and water of fire)
Anna pointed her wand carelessly at her cauldron, "Scourgify!" and looked at her notes, picked one jobberknoll feather and was about to put it into her cauldron when her hand raised almost involuntarily.
"Professor Culloden, you are such a great teacher and I love your classes, so don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I'm not going to brew this potion - I'm already doing it -" she added the Jobberknoll feather theatrically, "Though it seems, at first glance, kind of useless thing" she covered her mouth and then rushed to explain "I mean, world is so full of hate. Should we not think on spreading love instead of hate?" Anna froze a grin on her face and waited for him to shout at her. She knew her grin wasn't enough to fix what she had just said. Who she thought she was to questioning Mr Culloden's lesson?
Norah listened intently to Professor Cosgrach's words, because she was NOT messing up. Mhmm. She carefully recorded the ingredients before picking up her wand and whispering "Scourgify!" over all her materials. Look at that! Squeaky clean.
She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow or two at the professor's choice of potion. A hate potion, really? Wasn't that a little...mean? A friendship potion sounded much more enjoyable, especially for the first day of school. With a small shrug, she picked up a Jabberknoll feather and placed it in her cauldron. Step one COMPLETE with nothing blowing up. Wooooot!

Ben continued setting out his kit and listening to Adi as he worked. "Yes...I'm sure," he said looking confused as the Hufflepuff looked concerned about him. Even to the point of touching his forehead to see if he had a fever. "That would be bad...but I'm good." Like seriously. Benny was alright, if just a little cheerier than usual.
And see....Culloden was happy to see him. Calling him out enthusiastically by his name and such, even if it was his nickname. Why shouldn't he return the favor and be happy to see the potions master?
Soon enough the class was beginning and Benny picked up his quill without another word and began jotting down his notes carefully. Ingrediants...ingrediants...ingrediants. For a hate potion. Now the Gryffindor looked confused. "But why a hate potion? " he questioned as he switched quill for wand. "That isn't very happy." Nope...not at all. Hate was baaaaaad, he thought to himself as he nodded matter-of-factly.
But regardless...he started the first step. Maybe he could convince Culloden to change his mind.
"Scourgify!" he cast excitedly, aiming at his cauldron to clean it. Looking inside and being satisfied Ben rested the light blue feather down within the pewter container. There...one feather.

Jasmine smiled, as Professor Culloden greeted her. "It's good to see you too sir", Jasmine replied to the Professor.
When class began, Jasmine started taking notes. She wrote down all of the ingredients that would be needed for the day's potion along with the instructions so far.
SPOILER!!: Jasmine's notes
Hate Potion
Ingredients
1 jobberknoll feather
half a unicorn tail hair
three leech head
half a ginger root
ten carrots
a bunch of knotgrass
one wormwood
ten crow feathers
one common spider
two crocodile teeth
1. Add the Jobberknoll feather without any water or fire.
They would be making a hate potion? This should be interesting. Jasmine wasn't in a rush to see what the homework assignment would be. There was no way that it could possibly be pleasant.
Turning her attention to her cauldron, Jasmine took out her wand. She directed it toward toward the cauldron and said, "Scourgify". When it had been sufficiently cleaned, she was ready to tackle the first step in making her potion. Jasmine looked through the various ingredients and found her one Jobberknoll feather. Picking it up, she placed in her dry cauldron....no water, no fire, just as the instructions stated. Now she just had to wait for the next set of directions.

Days of Potter 2023:___________________________ Which Bertie Botts Flavour Are You? You are Salt!
"Hello, buddy." A first year? Maybe second? Cosgrach couldn't tell with the little ones, but he was apparently eager to start, so Cosgrach would be eager to teach.
And...
Beverly!
He looked fresher for a moment while he grinned at him back, and watched her be all excited. He was pretty excited to see her there, back and in his class - right in the front. Good. He didn't intend to leave his desk much for this lesson, so he could observe her progress better.
"I'm doing fine, thank you." He wasn't going to admit he was tired in front of a student he didn't know. "And you?"
"Adi, my man," he greeted the boy with a grin and waved at him. But then he remembered his conversation with Sophie, and his enthusiasm was suddenly gone. He looked away. He knew he was being very unfair, but...
Yeah.
Next student, please.
"Hey there... ..." A student he didn't know, although she looked pretty old.
Hmm.
"Benny!" he greeted the boy enthusiastically and with a grin. Cosgrach was glad his name wasn't around in the prank he and Adi had played on him, because which professor pranked his students? And look, Benny and Adi were still friends! Everyone was happy!
Hehehe.
"Hey there, girl." This one... oooooooh! Victoria disliked this one, no? Cindrella or something was her name, caused some trouble to Bart. The brown eyes followed her, and was narrowed slightly when she held a seat for someone.
Bart?
He had to keep a close eye on these two. They wouldn't let Victoria down again.
A student knowing what 'cleanliness' meant.
PERFECT!
So she got a wide smile from Cosgrach and his eager eyes followed her to her seat. "Hello, student," he called back, hoping to learn her name. He wanted to know her name. She was going to be a star.
Hopefully.
And another - wow, very enthusiastic - little one!
"Hello, Mister," he greeted the boy with a curious look on his face, but he was also very friendly. Didn't want to scare the little ones and make them spoil all the potion now, did we? This one knew what to do either, unlike some older and experienced students. Well, there was hope for the next generation yet.
...
......
Okay okay she was clean and all, but wasn't she FORGETTING something?
.........
"HELLO there." THERE. He wasn't sitting there out of pleasure, y'know?
Rude.
Another favourite student there.
"Miss Prefect." Hehehe. "It's good to see you." And how she greeted the whole class?
Alas, Alexa wasn't here to see how to be a perfect prefect.
"Hello!" The girl whose name he'd forgotten (oops!) but not her fault. She made a mistake last year, and he conveniently remembered.
Hopefully, not in this lesson?
Marigold, another prefect bound to shine, he hoped. He grinned at her. "Still alive." It was a joke, see? He was exaggerating. He didn't look that terrible...
...did he!?
This one also slipped inside quietly, sat quietly and ignored the Professor quietly. At least he had the decency to look SHY, so Cosgrach was going to give him the benefit of the doubt, although not without WAVING at him.
Students. They would impress better him if they greeted him.
At least Cosgrach wasn't the only tired one.
He nodded and waved back. He was a new face. Wonder if he was a nice student?
"AJ!" She was THAT one, right? Cosgrach dearly hoped so. Anyway, from now on, she WAS. He was that type of person that never were 'wrong', and anyway, she sat somewhere quickly -
- and ran a hand through Adi's hair -
Having read and reread all Aparecium articles, he knew what that meant. "I won't have that in my class." Go kiss in a tree, just not here.
Were they even legally old enough to hold hands?
So Sophie hadn't told Toby anything.
Perfect.
Cosgrach grinned at the boy and said "Hello Toby," back. If the classroom hadn't been so crowded, he would have embarrassed the boy by joking about Sophie, but not now. Instead, he politely turned to the next student and wondered where that girl was.
She... WOULD come, no?
Another new face, looking tired... maybe they ought to think of some kind of elevator? He didn't like it that the students looked tired in HIS class, because they needed all their energy. He... would talk about it to Annie. Meanwhile, he smiled at the girl and looked at the next one.
And the twin that wanted Benny... Actually, Cosgrach was glad she liked Benny, because to him, it always looked as if Benny was in the shadow of Adi - the prefect, the social one; whereas Benny was always silent and serious. So he very much approved, and didn't even call out the girl's name. Just letting her interact with Benny, and hopefully make him more social.
...and someone else sat in Soph's seat.
Cosgrach wanted to think he was DREAMING, but he was not. The intruder was a male, and nothing like Sophie. He - didn't even know that seat was special? Reserved only for Sophie? First, his eyes were narrowed, then he looked at the poor boy as if he wanted to kill him, and then he felt this terrible urge to move the kid to somewhere else, but there were people coming and he couldn't just do THAT.
But he could make the kid's life TERRIBLE there.
"You've got to greet me. I'm a professor, not your house elf to ignore."
Glaring. Waiting.
What was up with these new people? Didn't they know they HAD TO greet him? Like he wasn't there to be ignored, y'know? Cosgrach was already stressed someone ELSE was sitting iat Soph's desk, so when this one ignored him too, he had to EMBARRASS the boy.
"Hi, you, yes, hello," he called out, one finger pointing at his chest. "It'd be nice if you noticed me, y'know."
He didn't look like he KNEW, so Cosgrach began teaching early today.
Like her, see? Greet him warmly and sit somewhere that wasn't Sophie's seat, and Cosgrach would be the sweetest person on earth. To demonstrate, he smiled WARMLY back and said "Welcome, girl."
See that, class?
Ethan!
Cosgrach would have GRIIIINNED at him, but for the serious nod and greeting. Now HE was concerned. Had something else happened? Was his talk not effective enough? Questions filled his head, and before long, he was looking at Ethan gravely with questioning looks.
If he had to see him, he knew where to find him.
Someone was happy, eh?
Happy people made Cosgrach happy, so the man waved at the boy enthusiatically.
"Grayson," he called and nodded in approval when he sat next to Ethan. He would cheer him up, huh? Yeah. Good friends did that, and Grayson looked to be one.
...
......yeah fine ALRIGHT Cosgrach would make amendments with this one too.
"Hello," he said back and took a mental note to set things right with him as well.
Ugh. He ought to be Saint Cosgrach, seriously.
You know who his favourite students (at least at first) were?
Shy, but well educated first years. You know why?
Because they RESPECTED him, but also FEARED him to the point of re-thinking everything before doing it. It was precious and ver encouraging. As this one turned out to be such a first year too, he nodded, grinned (but not vastly, as he hoped to keep that respect) and casually looked at the next person.
Maddie!
Cosgrach grinned at the girl lazily and waved his hand. "'Tis good to see you again." With all her excitement and all. He was glad most of the students seem to like his class. He watched her sit by the new guy. She would hopefully make him more communicative? Huh?
"Miss Cambridge," Cosgrach greeted the girl with a sly smile. He would have greeted her with a 'Best H.G.' and embarrass her, but he chose not to.
Yet.
FINALLY she was -
Yeah yeah, Cosgrach knew, if SHE wanted, she could go bully the boy and take her seat -
No.
No. No. No.
Was she really going to sit with Toby instead of her USUAL seat for TWO years? But it was folly! He wouldn't even think of warning her if she would be a bully, because see, she would be taking what was HERS anyway.
But she really did believe Cosgrach would be sold to just one 'I'm sorry not really' look, really did sit with Tobias and did really not look at him again.
He couldn't breathe. Someone help.
So, Cutty was here at last too. Cosgrach nodded at the boy (even though Cutty was grinning, Cosgrach found it hard to grin back) and waved back.
"Hello, Cutty," he answered back and turned his attention to the next student.
Awkward moment hehehaha.
...well?
No greeting?
Cosgrach's eyebrows were raised as he looked expectantly, but... nope.
Sigh.
"Hello, Jeremiah." Y'know, greeting was caring? No?
Lux was here!
Phew. For a moment he thought she wouldn't be able to make it. Phewwww.
So he greeted her enthusiastically back.
"I am, thank you." Grin. What a lovely child!
"Kace, welcome," he greeted back, and would have smiled, but couldn't, because the boy was shivering.
"Why are you shivering?" It wasn't especially cold yet... was it?
Okay!
In fact, COsgrach just griiiiinned and chuckled and shook his head to himself.
"Hullo back, Kyroh!" Could the son and father be any different? Cosgrach doubted it, but he was glad he got to deal with the son now.
HeheheheheHE!
Zander.
Cosgrach's lips curled into a dirty smile as soon as he saw the boy, and he even laughed briefly. This boy... oddly brought out the bully in him. Maybe it was the way he always looked so scared of him. Haha. That was funny.
"Hello, son," he greeted him and watched him sit with Kevin. Were they even friends?
World was odd.
1. Cosgrach didn't like this girl.
2. He didn't want her in HIS classroom.
3. She was Minister's daughter.
4. She was the most dramatic person he'd ever seen.
5. So she COULD cost him his job.
6. He didn't like her at all.
When you summed all, you sometimes had to act deaf to some words. And so he did. Deaf. Ignorant. As if she didn't exist.
Why did she exist?
Ah, finally, a sensitive person to ASK how HE was.
"I'm alright, thanks for asking, Duncan." Duncan was his name, he knew. He was such a great teacher!
Hayden was here as well.
So this concluded about everyone, right?
Right.
"Hello there," he greeted the second year and smiled. It was great to see them all... save for Bay. Where was he?
Alright?
Cosgrach wanted to answer with a 'No,' just for the fun of it, but he forced himself to nod. "I am, thanks for asking." Mr. New.
Let's see if HE was alright at potion making.
"Good day, yes."
Gryffindors and their attitude.
He didn't like them. Maybe Alexa would hex this one too? Or maybe she should hex some people in advance so as not to deal with them during brewing.
Hmm. He would bring that up to her later.
'What's up'?
Haha. Hahaha.
"Jus' chillin', mate, what's up with you?"
Were they even ALLOWED to 'What's up?' a professor?
Well.
Cosgrach waved his wand and closed the door (yes, he was too lazy to get up, frankly). He turned at them then and got up almost reluctantly. His body was stiff, but he didn't show that... too much.
"Welcome all to the potions class," he said ceremoniously, "I'm Professor Cosgrach Culloden and this is my third year here." He tried to make eye contact with the new faces. This introduction was for them, after all. He briefly paused to see if anyone had any questions about himself, then shrugged.
"If you think I need to learn your name, write it on a paper on your desk." Like, if they wanted to impress him to benefit and all. If not... "Today, we will brew a hate potion. There are several types of it, and this one will make you hate the person you see first." Don't ask him how that would benefit anyone. He was here to teach it.
He waved his wand and the ingredients appeared on the blackboard.
"These are the ingredients. Now, before we begin, everyone, I don't care just how clean it looks, let's clean our cauldrons, shall we?" We shall. "Because this is a delicate potion, and even if I forget to remind every time, please please please, clean. Every. Utensil. Before. Using." Yes?
Yes.
"Now, first step is adding the jobberknoll feather without any water or fire."
Understood?

We will continue about 18 hours later.
This was the first class Eden truly felt...alone in. She didn't see Connor...Layla was here, but she sat elsewhere---and same with Phoenix. BUT THIS WAS OKAY. Eden could DO th------
Oh.
The professor was staring at her. He was saying HELLO really loudly at her. Right. She blushed--luckily the dungeons were dark enough to mask this unwanted facial embellishment--and she just...guuuulped. "H-Hello, professor--Cul--Culloden." She said softly. WHY WAS SHE SO SHY RIGHT NOW. This was not cool, man. If she had someone like CLARA Here----there would be no shyness. UGH
But then the lesson was starting. What was she supposed to do...write this down? ANd wait up--HATE? Wasn't that MEAN? But whatever--she supposed it might benefit them one day. Like, if someone fell MADLY in love with Eden and it was creepy-----wait. This potion would be PERFECT for someone like IAN. Hmm. She would have to tell Justine her idea--but--the girl would just have to give Ian a HATE potion! BRILLIANTLY EVIL. Eden was quite proud of herself.
Now. Everyone was taking notes. SHould Eden take notes? Sure why the heck not? She quickly scribbled down the ingredients and the first step. She saw people doing that...THING to their cauldrons--right--what was that spell--Oh. Scourgify? Eden blanched at the thought of having to do real magic right now. It terrified her. What if she did it WRONG like she normally did and...DIED? But she lifted her wand gently, and with VERY shaky hands, she cleaned out her cauldron---no one died, thank Merlin. Eden quickly put her wand down and took a few deep breaths. Merlin, she needed to get over this whole...'I suck at magic' thing...and fast.
She then picked up the little feather and placed it in her cauldron. There. First step done. This was so INTENSE for Eden. Like a thriller movie....WHAT WOULD COME NEXT? WHO WOULD LIVE? WOULD THERE BE EXPLOSIONS? Yep. Exactly like a thriller movie. Or maybe an action THRILLER. Explosions=action=Eden began to drift off...

This was probably the ONLY class in which Dima sat in the same seat for every lesson, but who could blame him? It was a great seat, right next to Alexa and Grayson, which was quite ideal for circumstances when he required assistance. There was no one too tall in front of him, so the minuscule second year could still see the blackboard (of course, that was really due to his chair). And Professor Cupboardbin could see HIM.
Hiii. Hi sir. Did he remember DIMA? Wave.
"I like your new badge. It makes you look scarier," he whispered to the new HEAD GIRL beside him as he bounced up to the washbasin. He was well aware of how to perform a proper Scourgify now, but washing his cauldron manually always felt more reassuring.
And then he cast a Scourgify on it as well. Just in case.
The Jobberknoll feather WENT into his cauldron, and Dima swung his legs from his too-tall chair, waiting for more instructions.

Gwen looked up from her doodling as Professor Culloden started to talk. She quickly ripped off a piece of her doodled on parchment and wrote on it. She wanted to make sure all of her professors knew her name.
There. She placed it on the front of her desk and looked back up at Culloden. Oooooooo a hate potion. Now this was going to be interesting. She quickly scribbled down the ingredients on the bit of her parchment.
Clean their cauldrons? She knew all about scourgify and how it was supposed to look, but she'd never done it. Oh well. There was the first time for anything. "Scourgify." Voila. Clean cauldron. Hopefully.
So they were basically supposed to throw a feather in an empty cauldron? Simple enough. Gwen picked up her jobberknoll feather and just dropped it in. Okay. Next.

Penelope listened to Professor Culloden's instructions. A hate potion? Why would anyone want to use a hate potion? She wasn't sure about this professor. The last time she had seen him, he had accused her of trying to murder him. Some of the potions he taught were weird. One of the potions they had brewed last year was illegal, at least for use in court trials.
In case the professor did not remember her name, she wrote her name on a pice of paper and put the paper in front of her.

And this was coming from the guy who refused to even touch his books during the summer apart from the short exchange when he had to BUY them and then, later on, pack them in his suitcase. This subject helped to boost his confidence even more, especially after the events from last year.
And yes, Grayson still had that vial of potion that Culloden had given him. Kept it safe and all.
Speaking of Culloden, the boy's blue eyes sought out for and landed on him first when he entered the classroom. "Hello Professor!" he called, giving the man a polite smile and nod. Dude was cool but dude also looked.......... off. Tired. It was better than his moody state where dumb people liked to make him madder, that was for sure.
Shrug.
The classroom looked as it usually did: blue walls, white washbasin and comfortable seats to boot, one of which Grayson went to sit on. Riiiiiiiight by a certain Prefect Mordaunt. "'Sup?" Nod. He placed the necessary items on the desk before letting his bag drop to the floor beneath his desk, even giving it a little kick for good measure.
Then Culloden gave him a worried look. What? Oh, he must have given him the wrong signal. Ethan gave him a tired grin, dropped it immediately and mouthed the words, ‘Are you okay?’. He didn’t want the whole class to know, yeah? The boy however didn’t have time to see the man’s reaction because Grayson was now sitting beside him. “Oh hey, Gray.” He said as he placed his hand on Grayson’s shoulder to acknowledge his presence. Great that he’s sitting beside him because that dude knows his Potions. At least he need not worry about exploding cauldrons for that day.
Hearing the door close, Ethan sat up straighter in his chair and glued his ears on Cosgrach’s words. Potions is precision, and he would have to be really attentive to get this potions—wait…what? Hate Potion? They were…making one? Ethan’s brain immediately raced with ideas on how to use it, but then got distracted when a loud, and over dramatic Gryffindor kid with curly hair asked the question ‘why’. Merlin, he ought to be a Hufflepuff. Lex, a true Gryffindor in Ethan’s eyes will love this concoction. He was sure of it. But Merlin, he will actually hate the first person he sees? What if it was Culloden?
A question popped inside his head. But first, he must proceed with the first step.
The Slytherin prefect wasted no time to prepare his things, and cleaned every single one of his tools for the potion. Clean as he goes, yeah? All right, first step was up: Jobberknoll feather into his cauldron without any liquid or fire. Ethan wore his clean dragonhide gloves, picked the feather and placed it inside his cauldron. Done. Now, for the question.
Hand up.
“Sir? This Hate Potion is not going to be permanent, right? I mean…the effect would be temporary?” Because what if he ended up hating him for the rest of his life?

Did Culloden just laugh at him? Had that actually happened? Hmph.
Right anyways, the name tent things seemed unnecessary now because surely the Potion’s Professor new his name. The guy WAS planning on stealing his bed last term, so he should know it anyways. Now… Hate potion? Welp, that was interesting. As if Zander would even need one of those to hate this class, he could do that on his own thank-you-very much. So he didn’t have any additional comments to add like she-who-must-not-be-named (Lux) or like Sophie. BUT, he did actually have a question.
Raising his hand in the air eagerly— wait, eagerly? He didn’t actually care about this stuff did he? No. Lowering his hand again, he sat and waited for the next set of— No. He wanted to know the answer. Raising it again he— But… Would Culloden be mad at him for bringing them off making the potion? After much debate, the Gryffindor finally set his hand up in the air for good. He had decided. He was going to ask, then possibly regret it depending on how this went over. “Professor, if this potion makes you hate the person you see first… Is it with the anger you already have built up? Or is it newly mustered hatred?” He raised an inquisitive brow, SEEEE he could be inquisitive too. “I guess I mean, can it be used to take all your anger-that you already have-out at someone or does it just make you angry out of no where?” You know.. just asking for a friend....
As for the practical part, how come this guy was so anal about the cleaning? Zander honestly would have forgotten if it hadn’t been for the little reminder, but thankfully he hadn’t done anything permanent yet so all was good! Casting a quick “scourgify” on his cauldron, he looked for the jobber knoll feather and plopped it in.

You know that feeling you get when you're being watched or you think someone is following you? Yeah. Cinna was feeling JUST like that right now. Yeah. And what was that face for. He didn't know what happened over the summer did he? Ugh. He probably did know since he's dating Bart's mum and all. Hopefully not because things could get like fifty shades of awkward around here.
The fourth year setup her cauldron, placing it perfectly in front of her. She slumped down in her seat so only her eyes peered over the cauldron. NOT being suspicious at all.
Oblivously she didn't need to make a name tag for herself. He knew her name. Clealy. HATE potion? Well this would be interesting. Surely. She grabbed up her notebook and quill and wrote down the instructions... Carefully.
SPOILER!!: Cinna's notebook
Hate Potion
Ingredients:
- 1 jobberknoll feather
- half a unicorn tail hair
- three leech head
- half a ginger root
- ten carrots
- a bunch of knotgrass
- one wormwood
- ten crow feathers
- one common spider
- two crocodile teeth
Steps:
1) Add 1 Jobberknoll feather without adding water or lighting the flame
She gave her cauldron a good clean using her wand and "Scourgify!" So No water yet. No flame yet. Easy enough. Just adding the Jobberknoll feather into her caudlron. Which she did. Now all she just had to do was to wait for the next set of directions.
Angel looked at Ben and smiled. "Want to help each other out?" Angel hoped that the Professor wouldn't mind, she wasn't really good at that. "I just think it would be fun." Angel looked at the Professor as he spoke, she had forgot to say hi to him and was expecting some trouble for it but well he just didn't seem to say anything to her.
Angel took out her wand. "Scourgify!" Angel made sure to do the wand movement and then she looked at the Professor, "Eh Professor.." Angel hoped he didn't mind this question. "This hate potion, if you hate them already does it still work?" Angel wouldn't be looking at Ben or AJ or Adi but she had someone in mind though she wouldn't say who it was.
Angel then added the jobber knoll feather into the empty wand, looking at her cute Gryffindor guy Ben as he did it, see Professor even when Ben put stuff into a put he was dreamily handsome, though obviously she wasn't saying or showing any signs of her being dreamily outside, she didn't want to get into trouble for making any mistakes or being too distracted.
Knowing her name wasn't a simple one, Sapphire decided to write it down for Professor Culloden. She used her favourite dark blue ink and at that moment was thankful for her neat handwriting.

- for this class: one that makes you hate the first person you see

a bunch of knotgrass

ALWAYS KEEP CAULDRONS AND ALL POTIONS SUPPLIES CLEAN
Step 1. Add one jobberknoll feather without any water or fire.
She may be poor at Divination and doing fairly well in Astronomy, but Potions, Sapphire felt she'd do much better in. Though she couldn't find a reason why she'd ever make this particular potion again.
Sapphire could hear some of the older students use a spell to clean their cauldrons, but being a first year who had yet to attend her first Charms class, she decided against it. Making a mess when she practiced on her own and making a mess during her very first Potions class were two different things. Sapphire cleaned her cauldron and utensils as well as she could and then carefully inspected her work. It was times like these she was thankful for having a mum like hers, always clean and neat and organized.
"Perfect," Sapphire thought contentedly when she was done, and made a mental note to master the cleaning charm. She might not always have time to do this in class.
She then turned towards the ingredients on the table (all organized), picked one jobberknoll feather, and added it to her dry, clean, and unheated cauldron. Thank goodness the blue jobberknoll feathers were easily distinguishable from crow feathers!

And...
Understood?
Good.
OOC: The class has begun, so please do not post yourself late! Just act as if you've been here all the time.
We will continue about 18 hours later.
So far so good. The Potions dude didn't hate him, this was GOOD. Zeke continued to beam, setting his things out and waiting patiently, quickly scrawling the date on the top of his parchment along with a title which read Potions Lesson One.
CULLODEN, that was his name! Zeke quickly scribbled that down too, just to remind himself. And then of course, Mr.Professor Culloden didn't know his name, so he'd be nice and write it out as instructed.
In big BOLD letters he scrawled his name on another sheet of parchment.

He copied down the notes that appeared on the board quickly.

Potions Lesson One
with Professor Cosgrach Culloden
Hate Potion
- there are lots of types
- this one makes you hate the person you see first
Ingredients
1 jobberknoll feather
half a unicorn tail hair
three leech head
half a ginger root
ten carrots
a bunch of knotgrass
one wormwood
ten crow feathers
one common spider
two crocodile teeth
Pre-Method
CLEAN YO CAULDRONS AND STUFF
Method
1. Add jobberknoll feather without water or fire or anything.
Of course, the cleaning he already knew about, and his cauldron and utensils had been cleaned AGAIN just prior to coming to class, but of course... Emily was right with these things, you still had to clean them in class anyway... so he'd go do that now. He wasn't confident enough with his wand yet, or, it wasn't so much the aguamenti stuff, that he got... but making the water disappear after, was harder. In the end he did use the charm, spell, what was it exactly?... and then tipped his cauldron out into the basin. THERE. Clean!
Then he returned to his seat, placed down his cauldron and assembled some of his ingredients, diligently dropping the jobberknoll feather into the empty, but clean, cauldron. No flames. No nothing.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

"'Cause you're actually really good at this class... And I, well, I even boil water wrong." He only added the last bit in to inflate the third year's ego a bit. It didn't really need inflating honestly, but Zander was just hoping that it'd help the chances that Kevin would actually help him out. Gryffindor Goobers gotta stick together? AND in return, the fourth year would do his very best to keep Kevin from getting another detention. A few more of those and he'd most definitely get into really big trouble.
Ah right, he had forgotten how disastrous Zander was when it came to potions. Kevin even had thoughts of picking up his cauldron and leaving to sit somewhere else but that was also too much effort so he simply nodded with a deep sigh as a promise that he would help him out. He turned to look at the front of the class when the door slammed shut and he knew class begun. Great.

Understood?
Good.
A hate potion to make you hate the first person you saw? Interesting. He thought and while the instructions were appearing on the blackboard, Kevin leaned over to Zander to whisper something. "I wonder if i can possibly hate that guy more" before leaning back and grabbing his wand. He pointed it at his cauldron and with a scourgify he cleaned it. He looked at Zander for a second and was glad that his cauldron didn't explode ...yet.
He got ready to water up the cauldron but was surprised that they didn't have to do that. So he lowered his wand and grabbed the jobberknoll feather before adding it to the cauldron.
Seriously, how does the Professor expect him to CHANGE when he gives out these kind of assignments?!

Layla had received a greeting back from the Professor for which he earned her respect. Professors that didn’t think down to their students were the best. She learned this from some of the teachers at her old school, those who treated her like rubbish looked like terrible teachers from the awful results that she faked compared to the brilliant results she received in other classes. When the teachers actually bothered to help her rather than laugh at her apparent ‘stupidity’.
She wasn’t stupid by far. She just didn’t bother.
The lesson started and she drew her attention to the Professor as he introduced himself and his background. Was he going to give them his life story because she really didn’t care? The announcement of the potion they would be brewing surprised her a little however. A hate potion?! What kind of institution was this? The board clearly didn’t look at it in much detail.
She felt no need for a hate potion, she was perfectly capable on concocting her own emotions rather than being assisting to them. She didn’t tend to ‘hate’ anyway, more strongly dislike someone. Hate was a petty emotion. The rest of the class appeared to be in two minds about it as well she noticed as she briefly glanced around the setting.
And Bradley was right about the ingredients, some were downright foul. Her lips would not be touching this potion that was for sure.
She got up to the collect the required ingredients like the rest of the class had done and placed them down on her desk. Everyone else was cleaning their potions with a spell which the newly acquired which did not know. She did not wish to ask for help either in the fear that she would look incapable and an idiot if she did. She instead attempted to copy them. “Scourgify” she pointed her wand at the cauldron in an attempt. Nothing. “Scourgify!” she called again which to her surprise had caused the cauldron the glisten after a deep and thorough cleaning. She had already one-upped her brother and it was only the third lesson of term.
She added the single Jobberknoll feather into the cauldron when it was absent of the water that had been used to clean it.
Everyone else seemed to be writing notes and so she copied.

So they were going to make a hate potion? Why was everyone getting so worked up about that. It was just a potion after all and the Professor hadn't said that they needed to test it and even if they did what was the big deal? It wouldn't be true hate just the affects of the potion making them feel that way.
Hady straightened up in her chair as the Professor began the class. She took out a piece of parchment and her quill clearly writing out her name upon it and placing it on the corner of her desk to be seen.

There now that she had finished with that she took out another parchment and began to jot down notes for the class so far.

Lesson 1
Hate Potion
Ingredients
1 jobberknoll feather
half a unicorn tail hair
three leech head
half a ginger root
ten carrots
a bunch of knotgrass
one wormwood
ten crow feathers
one common spider
two crocodile teeth
Add the jobberknoll feather without any water or fire.
Now she had to get started on the potion. Setting all her ingredients out she picked up her wand to clean everything. Now what was that spell her father always used. Umm... Scourgify! Yes that was right. Grinning she pointed her wand at the items she was going to use and stated quietly but clearly. "Scourgify."
She watched proudly as it all became clean before her eyes. Now which one was the jobberknoll feather? Glancing around quickly she noticed several of the older students adding a blue feather. Made sense since 'feather' was in the items name. Picking out the jobberknoll feather she lightly dropped it into her cauldron without any water or heat.
There she'd done it. At least so far anyway. Now all she had to do was wait on more instructions.

Had the professor called him Buddy? Thornton made a mental note that this professor was another of the informal ones.
Thornton looked at his workstation, making sure that everything was in place and ready to go. He had meticulously cleaned his instruments and cauldron in his dorm before coming down to class, unsure if there would be time for him to clean by hand before the lesson. Seren had insisted on teaching him how to care for his potions supplies without magic, so that he could assist her when it came to simple ones for the house or for health. His wand stayed in his bag, where he hoped he could leave it for the entire lesson.
Then, he shifted so that he could copy the ingredients list from the board into his notes. Underneath the heading "Hate Potion" he also made a note registering the reactions of the class to being asked to brew it.
Before putting his quill down, he clearly wrote his name on a piece of parchment - Thornton Baines - and set it out in front of him.
"Instruments clean, notes begun, gloves... he slipped his gloves onto his hands "...on. Ingredients assembled..." Thornton muttered to himself, double-checking that he was ready to begin before doing a single thing.
Satisfied, he picked up a single jabberknoll feather and dropped it into the bottom of the cauldron.
