The National Space Centre is one of the United Kingdom's leading visitor attractions that is devoted to space science and astronomy. It is located in the city of Leicester, England.
The group lands in the large parking lot just outside of The National Space Centre, hidden from all muggle gazes thanks to some large shrubbery. Hopefully no one has become too queasy from the trip, but if you have those bushes are right there to...you know...help you out. After handing the portkeys back to Professor Flamsteed, he instructs you to remove your entry ticket and to follow him. REMEMBER! Under NO circumstances are you to break the The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. Approaching the ticket gate, the professor beams over his shoulder as he demonstrates the "proper way to hand over an entry ticket" by handing it to one of the muggle staff present - who gives you a perplexed look before uttering, "Welcome to The National Space Centre. Have a safe flight!"
Once inside, Professor Flamsteed instructs you to pull out your guide maps you picked up while still in the Astronomy classroom at Hogwarts so that he can go over the various activities he hopes you will be sure to take a look at before needing to catch the portkeys - now safely tucked away in his enchanted breast pocket - back at precisely 3:05 pm from the same location in the muggle parking lot.
ACTIVITIES OOC: you do NOT need to do every single one of these activities for full participation credit for this lesson. I would like you to pick AT LEAST 2, ideally 3, and RP accordingly. There is no real post minimum for each activity as long as the content is there. Just have fun with things and, remember, your character is in MUGGLEDOM.
Please also feel free to look at the official website for the National Space Centre and click through some of the other things the place has to offer. I am taking a few liberties with some already existing exhibits there (and making up some of my own) - just work with me that the same thing in 2014 is there at 2085

The Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium is the largest in the UK and was opened in 2012 by the astronomy hero Sir Patrick Moore to a packed house.
Each show combines the latest edge-blended video technologies, sound and computer animation to immerse you in a full 360º fulldome cinema experience for no additional charge!

Rupert's face does not appear in the film as far as I know, so it is just his voice.
he iconic Rocket Tower at the National Space Centre is home to Blue Streak and Thor Able rockets, as well as the Gagarin Experience, Apollo Lunar Lander and real Moon Rock.
The semi-transparent tower, which is clad in high-tech ETFE “pillows”, was designed specially to house the Centre’s largest artefacts, including the Blue Streak and Thor Able Rockets.
here are two pieces of Moon rock on public display in the UK and you can see the larger of the two at the National Space Centre. There is less than 1,000kg of Moon rock on earth, which makes this small artefact one of the most precious items you will ever see.
This Lunar sample was collected by Apollo 17 Astronaut Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon, from a large fractured boulder near the rim of Shorty Crater.
Tranquility Base: The Moon Walk

Create your own postcard of you jumping on the lunar surface to owl home!
The area is set up with staff around to assist you as you strap into the special "seat" that will help you feel as though you are jumping on the Moon. After jumping around for a bit, the photographer will take your picture and then, using the magic of muggle technology, make it look as though you really are jumping on the Moon!
You may elect to wear one of the provided astronaut costumes if you desire or take the picture as is.
OOC: if you want to manip or draw a picture for this you may do so for possible extra credit.
Tranquility Base: Astrobotic Mining

The ultimate lunar challenge to see how much moon rock you can load using the digger before their time runs out.
A large arena with glass walls that prevent any entry stands before you. Behind the glass is a replica of the look and feel of the Moon's surface with various funny looking robots placed about it. After speaking with one of the muggles manning the area, you are handed a remote control to one of these replica Astrobotic Moon Diggers that you can then maneuver around the area to dig and scoop up "moon rocks" that must then be brought back to the appropriate labeled space station (Player 1, Player 2, etc) all the way to the right of the arena. You have 5 minutes to try and collect as many moon rocks as possible. If you do a stellar job then maybe, just maybe, the one of the muggle staff will let you take home a moon rock.
which is not a REAL moon rock, but a fabricated one that is...er...almost as good as the original?
Not too into mining? You can also try your hand at using another remote control to land the Lunar Lander on the Moon!
Tranquility Base: Astronaut Training

Brought in special this year, the ATX (Astronaut Training Experience) is where you can put yourself to the test and see if you have the right stuff to become an astronaut. Immerse yourself in the exciting world of today’s astronauts with realistic astronaut training. You will hear first-hand from a veteran astronauts, experience a space shuttle mission simulation and perform hands-on space exploration activities.
The area is set up in a rather extravagant manner with two activities simulating a capsule out of control and experiencing weightlessness respectively.
Round off your visit with a meal under our amazing rockets in Boosters restaurant. Serving a selection of freshly made and locally sourced sandwiches and snacks, as well as hot and cold drinks and our chef makes fresh soup everyday.
And of course don't forget to check out the Cargo Bay shop which stocks a full range of fun and interactive space toys, books, games and telescopes!
Checking his sundial watch, the professor gleefully announces that everyone is free to go about as you please...KEEPING CERTAIN THINGS IN MIND! And mentions something about living long and prospering, but by then you are probably already off and running!

There will be a very short homework assignment following this lesson, but consider this (with the addition of homework) the same weight as a final.

Exoplanets! Toby recognised that word, and the more he listened the more he sort of recognised a fact here and there that he'd definitely seen in his Astronomy textbook. But that was cool about the whole light levels thing, about how they monitored light levels of lights of stars because a small change of light level might be an indicator of a planet passing it. Man. Cool stuff.
As the voice started on about microbes, the image on screen switched to where it was sort of panning through a reconstructed solar system. It wasn't incredibly realistic, but suddenly Toby could vividly imagine JUST how big space was, and he felt... small. Like, all that huge space, and he was a tiny speck on a tiny planet and... wow. WOW.
He shifted in his seat, getting a tad fidgety. MOVING ON.
Except now his thoughts were running away from him, and Toby was getting super distracted even though the voiceover was on about alien atmospheres. As the movie went on Toby tuned in and out and caught snippets of what was said, though probably not as much as he should be hearing.
But no. C'mon Toby. FOCUS. The fifth year shook his head and looked back up at the projection just in time to see an image of that mars robot from waaaaay back when, which reminded him of just how old this film WAS. The voiceover transitioned from talking about Mars to the topic of Europa, one of Jupiters moons. Toby sat up a little straighter and tried super hard to pay attention, 'cause he was pretty sure that the movie was almost finished, and then he'd be able to get up and move about a bit.
The part of the film about the alien atmosphere was going a little over her head and Soph briefly reminded herself that she needed to go study up on chemistry - all those gases and chemical names were mostly familiar enough, but she wanted to know MORE. Science was super interesting, wasn't it? Maybe even becoming more familiar with chemistry as a subject could help with her potion-making, hm? POSSIBILITIES.
Then the film was TALKING about Europa and how it had a saltwater ocean beneath the ice with more liquid water than all the oceans, lakes, and rivers of the earth combined - that was INSANE. Soph wished they could go SEE Europa and explore a bit - it was probably a bit safer to check out than a planet, maybe, yeah? That's what SHE thought, at least. TO EUROPA!
But then the movie was over. The huge screen above them faded to black and Soph sat there in a post-film state of melancholy, processing all that she had just seen before turning to Tobes with a big smile on her face.
"Whaddya think?" She hesitated, but eventually rose to her feet as everyone else did around them and added, "I still don't think I believe in them, but... s'cool that SOME sort of life form could be out there, even just microbes. I like the possibilities of it all, y'know?"

Adi waited slightly out of patience for his turn to order. He still did not get why Benny was making so many jokes. Two jokes were A LOT when it came to the usually serious Benjamin Atreyu. "Sugar is life,'' Adi said seriously. "Wish I had some more of that fudge from Honeydukes.'' But he had already consumed every bit of that.
Finally his turn came! Adi ordered two chicken sandwiches (had we mentioned he was super hungry?) and soda. Hey, at least he had something sweet. He found some empty seats and now it was time to dig in!

Girls could be weird fussy about things sometimes, but they were usually good at being nice about things too, and they had a deal so he needn't worry.
He may have been holding his breath as she took the box down from the shelf - which he should have helped with - but her approval was appreciated. WIN! He'd picked something, and she liked it, whether or not she meant it or was playing nice, IT COUNTED!
And then it was her turn to point things out, model roc--- SAY WHAT NOW?! Zeke pulled out from her grip and quickly closed the distance between them, pulling Hady close with one arm while using his other hand to cover her mouth. Actually come to think of it, he didn't know quite what to do now. But she said SPEEEELLLL and FLLYYYYY and stuff with muggles around. The muggles! He glanced around the shop to see who was near, but found that the people closest were probably still too far to really hear or care. "Sorry about that," he said slowly, removing his hand from her mouth and dropping his arm from her back. And how was all that for action? "I like it though, we should do it." Doing the gentlemanly thing - without attacking her face this time - he stood up on his tippy toes, one hand on a lower shelf for support while he used to other to reach up up uuupppp... and he slid the box off, catching neatly in both hands.
He sent home photos too? At least it wasn't just her. Cause she took photos of like everything. And she meant everything. The dorm, kitchen, moving staircases and just everything! "Oh no, uh-uh." Hady shook her head quickly trying to figure out how to explain Jaxon. "He's like my brother I guess but not. He's my best friend, we've done everything together since we were born. Our parents grew up together so it was set that we would too." Did that make sense? She hoped it did. "How about you, do you have siblings?"
Lowering herself down from her tip toes the box in her hands she grinned at him. The grin however was short lived as a quiet surprised yelp escaped the small girls lips as Zeke's hand pressed over her mouth and an arm pulled her to his side. What was he- Startled it took just a split second for her to realize what she'd said. Oh good gosh! She'd said 'Fly' and 'Spell' out loud! Was she insane!
Her green eyes darted around the area quickly hoping no one heard or saw anything. It didn't seem they had. "I- oh geez how could I be so stupid..." She mumbled sheepishly the very moment Zeke's hand dropped from her mouth. "I didn't realize I said that so loudly... I'm sorry.." Clearly she was a bit flustered with the situation. Who wouldn't be? She could've just gotten them into big trouble.
With her heart still racing slightly she gave a small smile at Zeke as he got his bix off the shelf confirming he liked what it was. At least that was a good thing.
Eden was thankful he wasn't weird or mean or anything. She just smiled shyly and took a few deep breaths. "Hi Kace--I'm Eden--" she said in a friendly manner. "And yes--it's fun but it makes you very dizzy." Mhm. "So..be prepared and stuff. " She said with a nod. "I---I don't have a partner --Well I did--but I don't know where she ran off to so..." she shrugged. "Want to be mine? I'll wait for you to get out of here--and we can do the other things around here. And MAYBE go to the gift shop." She grinned more just to look APPEALING as a partner and stuff.
"RIght..looks like it's your turn--I'll be here to lean on after if you need it--" she said with a laugh and a wink. Yep.
Eden was a dork, no doubt.
And she was also wide eyed at the things going on around them--what should they even do next? The climbing thing? had he done that already? Hmm. Maybe she'd just let him pick what they did next and stuff.
Ah so her name was Eden, he smiled and held out his hand for a shake. "Nice to meet you Eden." He looked at the attraction and he nodded when she mentioned you feel really dizzy. "I can imagine and oooh man I am getting kind of nervous now.." he said eyeing it apprehensively but he was prepared to take it on. He smiled and nodded, "Of course I can be your partner, I mean I had one too but I don't know where she went off to. I think she may have went to another attraction here.." he said looking around but it shall be fun exploring with Eden. OH? The gift shop!? He forgot about that. "Yeah I wanna go to the gift shop and buy some stuff. I love astronomy so I may get something star related." he grinned sheepishly. "Being the nerd I am.." he added in with a wink.
Welp it was time for him to go onto the ride. He braced himself and went inside the circular thing and the man from the place strapped him in safely. He smiled to show he wasn't nervous but he really was. As he started the machine, he felt himself spinning slowly at first gaining momentum and then going faster and faster....

He was laughing and screaming at how much fun it was. After he felt the ride slowing down and he was coming to terms as to where he was, he sat there for a few seconds while the man was unstrapping him. He left the machine and tried to walk but he couldn't. His legs felt like jello and he couldn't even stand. "Hey Edenn a little help here.." he laughed grabbing onto the rail for support. "You were right that thing made you soo dizzy. I don't know what I was thinking..." he said holding his head with his hand still smiling.

No? Not a brother then?... Zeke felt that this was almost an awkward topic with her, but then it wasn't. "Oh cool, I've never had a friend like that... must be, nice." Yeah, nice. The question that was burning in his mind was whether he was a muggle or something, if they were born at the same time he'd be in Wizarding school, no? But... clearly not at Hogwarts. A Durmstranger maybe? When the question was returned to him, it took him a moment to process the facts. "Yep, two sisters," he nodded, "well, I call them my sisters, my Mum's dating their Uncle who's kinda like my Dad now, so it's all a little weird. But we're family," he ended on a cheerful note, casually shrugging his shoulders.
Go figure, while all the astronaut training had been super exciting, this whole ALMOST BREAKING THE STATUTE OF SECRECY thing was even MOAR exciting. "It's okay, it happens all the time, really," he attempted to soothe, a smile in place. "The... government deals with this stuff all the time, I've even done it once! But they're good at making people forget. Lots of people even. Oh! And I know a guy... he would have definitely been able to fix it without a fuss," he beamed now, not at all contemplating doing the deed himself to get the attention of the Ministry. It'd be FUN to see Rusty in action, and not for the first time. Really, it was kinda funny how much people worried about it all the time, considering the memory charms they could use to fix it straight away.
But since they both had items, perhaps they ought to make the purchase?
"Ready? We still need to get photos done," he tilted his head toward the cashier.

This was her test. Ever since the little scene in Hadley's office AJ wondered how she would react when she was became face to face with Ian. She thought that nothing would have changed, and that she would want to fight with him over and over again. Something in her changed. Ian was still somebody that she considered a coward, and he was most definitely not somebody that she would consider a friend, but she was also over him in general. AJ wouldn't be sticking her neck out on the line for him anymore. She didn't need to test her luck anymore with the professors. Ian just wasn't worth that.
How much time had passed, she wasn't sure. AJ was taking deep breaths, counting to ten, and trying to imagine Adi's face. "You're not bothering me." He was totally bothering her. She was just trying really hard to be the bigger person. In fact her fists were balled at her sides and she had this goofy grin on her face that was forced. It was surely a sight to see. "I dunno... looks like we picked a busy attraction." There were too many tall people ahead of her to really get a good look.
Angel's happy go lucky greeting to Ian did not go unnoticed. Were the two on a friendly level? AJ raised an eyebrow in Angel's direction. Maybe she took more after Abby. Then again AJ was ready to put the whole thing behind... as hard as that actually seemed.

Angel looked at Ian. "It's fun." Angel still wasn't friends with Ian but she was being friendly because well she didn't want to get into trouble. "I think you have something to tell my sister right?" Angel looked at him, If he didn't then she would totally go all devil like on him.
Angel then saw AJ raise her eyebrows, she was a bit scared now... her sister wasn't going to go all cray cray on her for being nice to Ian was she... she was still there for her sister all the time and she wasn't friends with Ian she just wasn't going to Hex him if she saw him.
Ian listened as AJ spoke to him in a civil, if reserved tone. He thought perhaps she was trying very hard to be polite. That was ok. It wasn't like he was trying to rekindle the friendship like they had last year, he'd just asked a question. He nodded at her response. He looked past her, trying to see if he could see more. His view was about like hers. Not much to see, but perhaps next year he would be taller. Yeah. I suppose it would be popular.
After he'd returned Angel's greeting, Ian heard the admonition/warning from Angel. He wasn't particularly excited about what he was about to do, but he supposed Angel was right. No time like the present, right?
He inhaled deeply and slowly let out some of the air. And then, he spoke. Listen, AJ. he began quietly. I want you to know I'm extremely sorry for what happened at the opening feast. There is no excuse for my treating either you, or Adi poorly because you liked each other. I shouldn't have let my petty jealousy guide my behavior. I was cowardly for trying to hex you and well, I've spent every day since then regretting that decision. I know we won't be best friends, but I wanted you to know I'm sorry. Angel told me recently I should do it because it's the right thing, regardless of how it's received. She's looking out for you and Adi, not me. He hadn't really wanted to do this here, but he also didn't want to cause any more huge scenes with him and the Valentine sisters. He hoped this would defuse those type things in the future.
He was learning that in order to be a better boy, who hopefully would grow into a good man, he had to swallow pride and accept responsibility for his actions/choices. This was one more step in that direction.

Then the film was TALKING about Europa and how it had a saltwater ocean beneath the ice with more liquid water than all the oceans, lakes, and rivers of the earth combined - that was INSANE. Soph wished they could go SEE Europa and explore a bit - it was probably a bit safer to check out than a planet, maybe, yeah? That's what SHE thought, at least. TO EUROPA!
But then the movie was over. The huge screen above them faded to black and Soph sat there in a post-film state of melancholy, processing all that she had just seen before turning to Tobes with a big smile on her face.
"Whaddya think?" She hesitated, but eventually rose to her feet as everyone else did around them and added, "I still don't think I believe in them, but... s'cool that SOME sort of life form could be out there, even just microbes. I like the possibilities of it all, y'know?"
Aaaaand it was over. Toby was one of the first to get up and out of his seat, but Soph seemed to be taking a little longer. He stood there, waiting for her to stand, and smiled back when she smiled at him.
"It was cool," he replied, thinking she was talking about whether or not he enjoyed the film or not. Toby had taken hold of Sophie's hand and started to lead her back out of the planetarium so the next lot could file in when he heard her next statement. He gave a shrug of one of his shoulders, and glanced up at the ceiling again as they navigated their way through the rows of seats. "I still believe. That's still neat if you don't, though. Variety is the spice of life and all that."
Eventually they were out of the planetarium, and Toby led them a little way away from the exit.
"What now?" he asked, turning back to Soph and giving that little smile again. "D'you mind if we visit the gift shop before we leave?" The fifth year released Soph's hand again to check his watch. Hm. They still had a decent amount of time left.

He'd already subconsciously named like five of them, even though he was well aware that naming things was what inevitably led to HEARTBREAK when he had to be separated from them. Like those fairies from Care of Magical Creatures, or that Legopuff Ludegopuff from Defense Against the Dark Arts in his first year. And... he could go on.
But yeah. Stuffed animals. He wanted them all. Particularly one of the monkeys, which was still perhaps Toby's favourite animal. Or one of the DOGS which was his other favourite animal. He hovered in front of them all for a while, completely torn.
Hearing Soph go on about ooze and then something about her ceiling, Toby looked around to see what she was looking at. And... was that a packet of those neat glow in the dark stars? Cool.
"They'd be wasted in my dormitory," Toby shrugged, but smiled nevertheless. "I'd put them in my new room at home or something. Still need to decorate it in there." And even if she didn't get them, Toby was now getting ideas about the kinds of charms he could get his dad to put on the ceiling of his bedroom when he went home, to make it look like twinkling stars.
He moved away from the cuddly toys to where a whole bunch of keyrings were kept, and sorted through them; the ones of monkeys in space suits were particularly endearing. Toby eyed the price: £2.50. So he could get TWO of these, and give one to each of his parents as a little present, orrrrr... there was the pricier stuffed dog toy, which he could get for himself. Tobias was even more torn than before, and chewed on his lip as he stared between his options. More than anything he liked getting presents for other people but... man, even though he was sixteen he did appreciate how cute and soft the stuffed animals were.
BAHHHH. Finding it too difficult to make a decision just yet, Toby went over to where Soph was and inspected the toys and stuff too, not knowing if it would be a good idea to spot ANOTHER thing to decide between.
There was a neat looking model of a space shuttle nearby. Way too expensive for their budget, even combined, but something cool to look at.
"We should come back here one day," he said casually, wandering off to carefully poke the shuttle thing. "And bring more money." And buy all of the things as presents for other people AND themselves.

Seeing him smile caused Hady to smile happily. She'd made him laugh again which in her opinion was an awesome thing. Laughter meant happiness and where there was happiness there were good things. "Weirdness is a good thing, it's much more fun." Cause really who wanted to be normal? Normal was so boring.

Normal was seriously overrated if you asked her. Hady was quite content with how she was and nothing would change her. That's why she liked hanging around with Zeke. Even though he was a Gryffindor he was super cool. Nothing like what she had heard all her years growing up and better yet it didn't seem to bother him one bit that she was a Slytherin. If you asked her she was probably only a Slytherin due to her love of snakes and the fact her whole family had been in Slytherin before her. It wasn't important now though.
"It doesn't seem to be to bad and I think the line is moving rather fast." At least that's what it looked like to her as they stopped in line those in front of them moving up as some others were moved into the Moonwalk area. Grinning over at him she squeezed his fingers back when she felt his hand tighten over hers. This would be super! "It looks like fun." She readily agreed.

No one she knew was joining her. Maybe the planetarium was just too cool for her friends to handle. Yeah, that was it. Lux wished that Bay was here with her because she really liked watching movies with him. It could have been like a mini-date at the Space Centre.
Taking her seat, she reclined it as much as possible while waiting for the show to begin. It was supposed to be about aliens or something, and she wasn't sure if she believed in them or not.
As the film began, she gave a little Awwwwww at the animation. The little box!people and box!doggies were adorable. It would be funny if people actually looked like that in real life. Giggling at that thought, she then told herself that she needed to pay attention to what was being said.

Soph kept an eye on Tobes even while she looked at her own toys because she WANTED to see if there was something in particular that made his eyes light up. She LOVED when that happened - and if she could offer her five pounds to ensure he had enough money to buy what made him so happy, Soph would be more than happy to share with him.
So she noticed him looking at the plush toys, of course, and tried to figure out which one if any he was looking at in particular and lingered on - she could spy a monkey one and wondered how much it was, but before she could wonder aloud, he was addressing her.
Wasted. Oh. But NEW HOME. Hehehehe! "I just wanna decorate lots at your new house. See what bugs your 'rents and what they might like." She was still inspecting the stars as she spoke, wondering if the men would have a problem with these glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling of their living room. Could be cool, couldn't it? Heh.
Now that they had joined together in the shop, Soph instinctively followed Tobes as he moved along to the next display of things, her eyes greedily sifting over every object and weighing its worth to her. And then he said something that made her grin bigger than it probably should have: he wanted to return to the centre with her some day. She giggled.
"Uh huh. Dunno how Flamsteed 'spects us to choose somethin' to buy here just on five pounds. I'd rather've come with no spending money at all than have to see what we can afford and what we can't and have to choose." Maybe that sounded a bit silly, but so was Sophie Brown.
..."Can I buy a monkey for you?" Was there one they could afford? She hadn't spied any of their prices, but if it came to it, she really had no qualms against putting their money together to buy the biggest, best thing for ten pounds that they could.

Coming out of the private room with a few of the higher ups with the Centre, Airey quickly made his way to the front desk and whispered something to the muggle manning the area. Both chuckling, the muggle pushed a button and began to speak into a microphone that broadcast throughout the entire National Space Centre.
"Attention all Professor Flamsteed's students. Please meet back at the parking lot as soon as possible. Attention all Professor Flamsteed's students. Please meet back at the parking lot as soon as possible."
Saluting the muggle and offer his thanks, the astronomer made a quick stop at the gift shop to pick up a few things - and something for Medea - and made his way outside to the parking lot while checking his sundial watch anxiously.

The Hufflepuff took the last bite of his second sandwich before washing it down with his beverage of choice.
"So what now, Benny? Quick trip to the gift shop?'' Looking at the time, they wouldn't have much more before they had to go.
Soon enough their meal break was over and Benny moved to clean up his space once they were finished. Best to be good students and space center visitors and not leave anything behind. "Yeah...sure," he remarked with a shrug at the suggestion as he threw out his trash. The Gryffindor hadn't really thought about stopping there but maybe it would be nice to get a little something to mark the day.
Lucky for them it was right near the cafe so just a few quick steps and they were there. Extra good for when the fourth year started looking around was when the announcement went over the loudspeaker. Uh oh. A quick glance at his watch gave them time so Ben figured a little browsing wouldn't hurt. One postcard for his parents to send home with Conrad...a couple of mission patches for himself. That seemed like a good choice, the boy heading to buy his purchases.

After having lunch, Jasmine checked her watch. Clearly she did not have enough time left to visit another exhibit. It was almost time for the class to return to school so she decided to do a quick run to the gift shop. Jasmine was hoping to pick up a few souvenirs, but her time was running out.
Before she could begin, a announcement came over the loudspeaker. Their time at the Space Center was coming to a close. The students had to meet back in the parking lot as soon as possible. Now was time for some serious power shopping. Jasmine was on the clock so she really had to get moving.
Jasmine had a plan. She would quickly browse the store and then work her way back around and grab her goodies. She went around, trying to see what the store had to offer. Jasmine saw a model rocket that she thought would be great for her brother. Deciding to grab it, Jasmine kept moving. She stll needed three more gifts plus something for herself. Next, Jasmine got a National Space Centre scarf for her mother. Two down one to go. Then she saw the perfect gift for her father. It was a book on Astronomy and Jasmine knew hat her dad would love it. Finally, Jasmine needed something for her little sister. And there it was, a little stuffed animal. It was the cutest little bear in a space suit. Now that she had taken care of the family, Jasmine grabbed a key chain for herself and got into the checkout line. In no time, she had paid for her items and was finished. It was definitely time to go.

Soph kept an eye on Tobes even while she looked at her own toys because she WANTED to see if there was something in particular that made his eyes light up. She LOVED when that happened - and if she could offer her five pounds to ensure he had enough money to buy what made him so happy, Soph would be more than happy to share with him.
So she noticed him looking at the plush toys, of course, and tried to figure out which one if any he was looking at in particular and lingered on - she could spy a monkey one and wondered how much it was, but before she could wonder aloud, he was addressing her.
Wasted. Oh. But NEW HOME. Hehehehe! "I just wanna decorate lots at your new house. See what bugs your 'rents and what they might like." She was still inspecting the stars as she spoke, wondering if the men would have a problem with these glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling of their living room. Could be cool, couldn't it? Heh.
Now that they had joined together in the shop, Soph instinctively followed Tobes as he moved along to the next display of things, her eyes greedily sifting over every object and weighing its worth to her. And then he said something that made her grin bigger than it probably should have: he wanted to return to the centre with her some day. She giggled.
"Uh huh. Dunno how Flamsteed 'spects us to choose somethin' to buy here just on five pounds. I'd rather've come with no spending money at all than have to see what we can afford and what we can't and have to choose." Maybe that sounded a bit silly, but so was Sophie Brown.
..."Can I buy a monkey for you?" Was there one they could afford? She hadn't spied any of their prices, but if it came to it, she really had no qualms against putting their money together to buy the biggest, best thing for ten pounds that they could.
Toby gave a shrug.
"Seems like nothing really bugs them, from what I can tell so far," he responded, looking thoughtful. Hm. "S'weird." Super weird, given the whole previous parent thing, where it was more like there wasn't anything that didn't bug them. Two extremes. Weird. "Except... I'm not sure what their thoughts are on glitter." Thinking about that led to thinking about other things which led to realising that his parents were sort of... really quite hard to read sometimes. Toby wondered vaguely if they thought the same about him, or if they understood him, or if they THOUGHT they understood him, and which of those would he prefer?
Tooooooooo much thinking was happening, and Tobias very quickly pushed all those thoughts away for a later date, before hitching a little smile back onto his face and looking at Soph and shrugging. "Probably a budget thing. There's a whole bunch of us after all." He was about to answer her question when that booming voice rang out across the building, and Toby looked up automatically as though he might see who was speaking.
No time no tiiiiiime. They had to make a decision.
"I think I..." HMMMM. Quick thinking. "I was gonna get keyrings. Y'know, as presents, but I couldn't decide between those or a dog." As he said this, Toby stepped across to the stuffed animals and picked up the dog he'd eyed up earlier. "... I think I'm gonna get this.." Even as he spoke, Toby felt guilty about the decision but... man. This dog. This dog was so cute. He'd buy the dog, feel super guilty about it, but totally make up for the lack of souvenirs later with bigger and better presents. Absolutely. "You should get your stars, or your space ooze stuff. That looks super cool."
Because really, if he got the dog and not the keyrings and then got a monkey too. Well. He'd probably explode out of guilt.
"We should hurry," the fifth year said, and hastened up to the counter to pay for his new stuffed animal friend before he could change his mind. Then he waited at the door for Soph to buy whatever so that they could head out to the meeting point together once she was all done.

Just as Zander had taken his last bites of food, he heard the announcement-- quite at the right time if you asked him. It was as if Flamsteed just knew. Getting up from the chair, Zander began to collect the trash that had accumulated around the table. After scooping up the last of his sandwich crumbs he looked around to see if anyone else was headed towards the parking lot, but he couldn't find the crowd yet. Maybe people were still finishing they're things up too?
Shrugging slightly as he did so, the Gryffindor walked through the gift shop and even eyed a few things. Maybe he could get a-- No... He had to save his money for chocolate frogs. He was actually starting to run out, which was quite shocking considering the amount of them he had bought over the summer. Right. He needed to find a place to buy them without having to sneak off to Hogsmeade, although if that was actually doable he may be willing depending on the amount of desperation.
Ahem.
But anyways, he started making his way towards the exit, smiling at the employees as he passed them. it really was a wonderful trip actually!! Even though he didn't get to do everything that he wanted to. Siiiighhh.
