At eight o'clock in the morning, the door to the Second Greenhouse is wide open. You step inside to find that the tables are set differently. Instead of being separately scattered around they are aligned next to each other forming one long table right in the center of the greenhouse. Wooden chairs are also lined on both sides of the tables next to each other. The Professor's table is no where to be seen. But he is standing right at the further end of the tables with his hands on the table and a few feet behind him is a blackboard.
Aside from the different arrangements of the tables you will notice another important thing; there is absolutely nothing on the tables. Look closely around you and you will also see that every other pot is covered and no plant is in sight.
ooc: Lesson will not start for at least another 16 hours! Also, note that there certainly have been a number of lessons before this one.
Class has officially started. Do not post you character arriving late, act as if they've been here all the time

Coming into the class room Bay instantly spotted his friends but of course he needed to say hello first.. "hello Professor" he said nicely as he quickly went to go sit near his awesome girlfriend and his best mates.. "hey guys" he said while finding that the seat behind Lux was free.
Putting his bag down he smiled at his friends, "hey Jasmine…hows everything going?" he asked her because you know.. she knows how he is doing as well.. and then "acccchhhooooo" he sneezed really loudly as he covered his face to block it from going any where. "excuse me" he's been feeling a little off the past few days maybe he was getting the flu?? maybe it would be a good time after class to go see the healer?
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Samantha entered the greenhouse with a, "Hello, Professor." She quickly made her way to a desk and sat down. Looking around, Sam only just now noticed the layout of the greenhouse. This made her quite nervous considering the recent goings on around Hogwarts especially during classes. Sam crossed her fingers, hoping for a normal lesson.

Okay, yes. Herbology. Dot was 100% ready, now that she was a gardening pro girl, and she came to class with her robes tucked into her shoes and her sleeves tucked into her gloves. And her gloves on. She wasn't gonna get dirty, but she WAS going to dig in the dirt. Watch her go.
The Slytherin wiggled her fingers at Lex as she passed, and then at That Boy because she was feeling really bold, and then at Kyroh and Super Cooper. She was going to sit at the station with the best looking plant, since she didn't want one that was already half dead, only... there were no plants.
Sigh. Fine. She'd just perch here and wait for class to start. "Good day, Professor. Did you banish the bulbs for misbehavin'?"

Er. What?
The one long table down the middle wasn't something he cared about a lot. No, it was the lack of things on the table. No plant life in a greenhouse? Weird or what? They were going to work with something, weren't they? Though, if this was gonna be a theoretical lesson, dude wasn't going to be very impressed.
"Good morning, Professor!" he called, giving the man a nod as he headed over towards an empty spot along the table. He placed his bag onto the table and took out some of the necessary items -- quills, ink, journal and whatnot -- before letting his bag drop to the floor beneath the table. Ready, yo.

"'Morning, professor," he said before finding the nearest empty place, which happened to be beside Grayson. He got a nod because speaking anymore was just way too much effort this early in the morning, okay? Okay.
Honestly, Herbology was great! The professor was hot AND he didn't bother her about making more notes.
"Hello professor, did you miss me?"Wiiiiiiiiiink. She ALMOST blew him a kiss but decide to save it. She had sailed in in a good mood, but she not the sort to rub her early morning activeness in the faces of those who were more lethargic, so she kept her cheerful state to herself and simply scanned the loooooooooong table for a good spot to sit.
Ooooh. Look at that. Two of her favourites sitting together. She did wonder a bit if they knew each other well enough to discuss her, but whether they did or not wouldn't change the fact that she nowwww had a place to sit. Not next to either of them, but rather on the opposite side of the table, facing both of them.
Good view, you see.
"Hi boys." She gave them a little finger waggle and then sat down, crossing her legs under the table and dropping her bag to one side. It wouldn't be tooo tedious after all.

More people were coming into class now, and Adi got a big smile and a wave. Soon after Emmy, Cinna, and Kace joined her. Awesome, she was sitting by her friends. All that she needed was her boyfriend, and as if he had read her mind there he was. Bay got an especially big smile and she wanted to hug him too but wasn't sure if that was wise in front of Professor Walton. Eh, forget it. Getting up, she gave him a hug right before he sneezed. "Are you alright?" Was he getting sick?
Before entering the greenhouse Beverly quickly ate the green apple she'd snagged from the Slytherin table on her way out. She has finally gotten back into the routine of studying for OWLs, though it felt more like review because her tutors have covered most subjects.
Thin core between her fingers, Beverly debated on tossing behind some bushes or sticking it in her bag. She didn't litter and she might get caught, so that was out. Sticking it inside her bag would make her parchment all soggy and sticky, that was MAJOR NO. She went with a third option. Taking her wand out she Vanished the apple core.
YES.
Practice was paying off.
With a victory look on her face, Beverly strolled into greenhouse, her eyes raking the new set up. Ew. They were all stuck together now. It didn't matter, she was in a pleasant mood. Shooting a wave at the professor, she claimed a seat.
Now usually Justine absolutely, completely abhorred Herbology and wouldn't have been caught dead at a class, let alone an early class, but anyone chance to lay her green eyes on the ruggedly handsome features of Professor Walton was worth Justine's time.
Cat ears and tail or not, Justine wasn't letting this silly transformation get in her way. Messing unnecessarily with her tie, Justine settled into a seat between Lux and Eden. "Lux, darling" She greeted, smiling at the sleepy looking red head, before chuckling at Eden's blush. "What's with you McGee?" She teased, though she'd already guessed, after all, it wouldn't take a genius to guess what the source of Eden's fluster... Speaking of which...
Justine allowed her green eyes to wander casually up the length of the table before landing on the form go Professor Walton. Merlinnnnnnn,it didn't matter how many times she saw the mind, she couldn't get over just how gorgeous he was. "Good morning Professor Walton... You look well," Smile. She was purring, but Justine hadn't the mind to notice.

Gabriel questioned coming to class. ANY CLASS....for the remainder of the year. Of course, the first Herbology lesson had been normal enough. The professor hadn't flipped out like in Astronomy.......but the first Astronomy lesson had also been fairly normal...unlike the second one.
Were first lessons just meant to lure them into a false sense of security?......or....as secure as Gabriels could be?
Grabbing a seat in the back, he kept his head down. He was being proactive this class, you see. If anything weird happened...or STARTED happening...Gabe would be out the door and back up to the castle before anyone could blink.
........and yea, he seen Ruby....and Zahra....
Still, he'd leave them all......if it came down to it...

Zander did NOT want to be here. Firstly, it was WAY too early, but that wasn't the main reason why. Actually, come to think of it, this happened EVERY time he had Herbology. He seriously began to question his choice for even continuing with this class. See, up until the point where he actually trekked out to the Professor's office, he had still though that Beautiful Bentley was going to be the one teaching. But then, when he found out that this horrible man had taken her job, he wanted to quite immediately. But Gryffindors didn't quit, or well, so he was told.
So he was here. Unfortunately. But still here.
And that's right, he totally did NOT greet the Professor at all. Walked angrily all the way over to the farthest spot possible, basically isolating himself from the rest of the class.
HMPH. Herbology Zander was not a Happy Zander, well not anymore.
Being back in the swing of things could have been looked at as a bummer, but Soph was actually grateful to get back to the normalcy of school. It felt right to be back... in... the greenhouse...
...Where were all the plants?
Soph was immediately suspicious, but she peeked over at the professor and gave him a little wave of her hand. "Good morning, professor." He got a smile, too, before she... surveyed the current class population. So many friends. Where to SIT?
One bestie was there, but not the other yet, and though she supposed she COULD have been a better person and tried to make a new friend today or not stick with her usual people... Soph definitely gravitated toward Tobes and took a seat near him without giving it much further thought. Other people like Maddie, Kyroh, and Dot got smiles, and she STARTED to smile at Zander, too, as she took out her class materials, but... he didn't look happy. Mr. Grumpypants today, eh?

He was tired. That's what he was... so when he arrived to the greenhouse, perhaps a little later than the norm, he wasn't in a state to analyse the classroom setting. The greenhouse, as far as he was concerned, looked much the the others had, and so his priority right now, was finding somewhere to park his bottom.
"Morning Professor," he mumbled as he plopped himself down onto one of the chairs surrounding a table.

Morning classes were not a problem for Ethan, however, he wasn't in the mood to go to any class that day, because of last night's episode with Cutty. He still was upset and mad with his cousin, that he almost forgot to greet the professor. Ethan stopped to turn and face the man up ahead. "G'morning, sir."
Sighing, the prefect sat beside Zander who looked...upset too. Well, they can be grumpy together, yeah? And no plants? Oh hell no. This isn't going to be a lecture type of class, right? He can't and will not deal with another troll, in case it decides to appear out of nowhere. Ethan nudged the Gryffindor and gave him a nod. Sup?

Speaking of the Gryffindors.
Andrew's eye cut to the LOUD new comer. Everyone so far entered quietly and none shouted. This one here seemed to feel the need to make an entrance. And it usually was a good student who kept up with lessons and all. "Mister Atreyu," The man said with a sigh. "Please remain quiet until the lesson starts." A headache was starting to happen. "And..." He glanced at the space before the boy. "Put those things back where they came from," Did Andrew look like a Professor who would offer tea to the students during class?

Did they not know how to be moderate? The Gryffindors. They were either super hyper and talking loudly or falling asleep right here before him. Andrew waved his wand and a very thin line of water squirted out the tip of his wand, enough to splash the boy's face but not to drench him or his clothes.
No sleeping in his lesson.

Someone didn't get their beauty sleep. Andrew watched the Slytherin as he entered and the reaction to the lack of plants. He was not the first to express that, although no one did out loud. "Good morning, Mister Whitlock," Hopefully the boy hasn't earned more enemies who were going to set him on fire.

The second the Head Girl set a foot inside the Greenhouse, the man was alerted. Well, clearly not all the Ravenclaws were refreshed and ready for knowledge at this hour of the day. A proof just walked inside the Greenhouse. Another sleepy head. Andrew's wand was all ready to splash the boy but the Gryffindor did not close his eyes and seemed to be battling to stay awake. Good warrior, right here. "Good morning, Zeke," He replied to the boy walking over to him and lightly tapping the table.
Wakey Wakey!

"So, in your own words, how do you know a plant is sick or is close to dying or unwell in general?" He asked after returning to the further end of the table where he stood earlier. It provided a very good view of everyone.

Completely unaffected, or seemingly unaffected, Cutty had taken a seat on one of the ends of the new seating arrangement. All up in a row. Professor Walton was determined to catch the culprit from the last class wasn't he? Or maybe ...Oh, sick plants. They'd be passing around the specimen wouldn't they? Cutty hoped for ooze for old times sake. Hearing Walton's question his hand went up to offer a possible anser, though to Cutty there were quite a lot of variables in this. "The roots system. If yew can look at the roots, then you'll know fer cehrtain whether or not yer plant isn't feelin'..." Sigh. "Isn't feelin' too cleveh."
Toby looked up in time to catch sight of that wave from Red, and he gave a wide smile in his turn. He was still sorting out things for note-taking when Soph sat beside him, but was soon totally ready to get started... if slightly distracted from more bizarreness from some of the kids. Did that boy have parts of a tea set?

And then Walton was speaking and it was time to focus on the lesson, something Toby seldom ever had a problem with when it came to Herbology. He started writing things down at once, under the heading Sick Plants. This could get sad, and he knew it, because talking about sick plants would inevitably mean talking about dying and dead plants, and that started a whole 'nother thought spiral. But if he was at all worried about that so far, Toby didn't show it at all, just kept a neutral-bordering-on-pleasant expression as he twiddled his quill in his fingers, thinking.
Eventually, the Hufflepuff raised his hand.
"Well, sometimes you can just tell," he began, still quill-twirling. "Like with a human or animal, when you know something's wrong but you can't pinpoint why? You can just... feel it. It's the same with plants. For some people, I mean. I suppose." Maybe? "Sometimes you can tell from the way they look. Some plants get blights, or leaf spots, when they're sick."
Aaaaand that was probably enough; wouldn't want to start rambling.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

No sleeping in his lesson.

The third year didn't have his eyes closed for ten seconds when he felt water hitting his face and he spluttered in his seat. Opening his eyes, Kevin wiped his face with the back of his sleeve and rolled his eyes at the Professor. He couldn't really say anything because he HAD said to disturb him when class started so he sighed loudly before that sigh turned in to a yawn.
He was too tired to talk back anyways today so he simply listened to the first question. "Their leaves would probably become brown and fall off, i don't know" .......he didn't really care either...

Zeke looked up at Professor Walton. HOW was he awake at this time?! And so.... AWAKE?!
The knocking on his table didn't disturb him, but he still longed for his bed. Only, his bed was WAY up in Gryffindor Tower. AGES away. So no, here and now would do, he'd... he'd make do.
YAWN.
He wasn't sure if he was disappointed or pleased at not having to deal with a particular type of plant, but the whole sickness thing was something else. Sickness was bad, and he'd seen enough sickness to know this.
Raising his hand, Zeke offered his own understanding of signs of sickness. "All gooey and soft, Professor. Like, leaves get droopy and soft and it's like it's squishy on the inside... like it's turning to mush." He saw that happen to a cactus once, and those things were hard to let die.
Walking over to the entrance, Andrew poked his head outside to see if anyone was on their way in. He saw no one and took that as a sign that anyone who wanted to come had already done so. Time to start.

The fourth year wasn't sitting with her friends today because she wanted to focus more on her classes this term because she felt like she didn't give enough attention to it last term. Emmylou wasn't going to lie that she was actually excited about Herbology class today. It wasn't like her to be so happy about learning about plants. It's not that she didn't like plants it was just that she wasn't used to taking care of magical plants. Her grandparents had muggle plants on their farm but maybe her grandmother had like a secret stash of magical plants?Emmylou put her attention on the professor and thought about what he was saying about sick plants. Emmylou raised her hand. "At the roots you can tell when they start getting sick because of the color change and the leaves on the plants start turning brown and get a bit crusty like." she said sweetly in her native Southern accent. She wondered if she was even right. Well that's what she thought about it.

Huh.
What was with the Professors and changing everything around on them? Shrugging it off, she took a seat before spotting her friend. "Hey, Jasmine." It was nice to see that she wasn't the first to arrive.
Jasmine watched her classmates arrive and occasionally glanced at Professor Walton. She was trying to get an idea of what his vibe was today. What was the deal with no plants? Then Lux entered the class and greeted her. "Hey Lux", Jasmine responded. Her friend was looking a little sleepy today.
SPOILER!!: Eden

WHOOH. She spotted Jasmine as soon as she got into the room and took the seat across from her.
"Hey, Jasmine!" She said cheerfully as she plopped down and let her bag fall to the floor. "How's it going?" she asked in a friendly way. She liked the prefect--especially after having been partnered with her for the first Comrade task.
She then bluuuushed as she shot a look at Professor Walton..."Mornin' Professor...how's it going?" she asked him, too, and smiled shyly at him...GOSH. She knew if either Justine or Layla were here right now they would TOTALLY be mocking her...Hmmph. Maybe they wouldn't come? It WAS early, after all?
Next to arrive was Jasmine's scavenger hunt partner. What a good time that was. "Hi Eden. All is well. How are things going with you?" She smiled as her fellow Claw sat near her. Eden was a lot of fun and Jasmine really enjoyed working with her.
SPOILER!!: Maddie
QUOTE=TakemetotheBurrow;11674783]This was different.
Maddie slipped inside of the greenhouse and raised her eyebrows at the setup. What interested her most, though, was the lack of plant life. She did a slow turn so that she could cover all areas of the space but could find no hints of what they might be doing. A mystery, then? Challenge accepted.
Sliding into a seat by Eden of the garden variety, the second year smiled at her and Jazzy. She then focused her attention on the man in charge. "Hello Professor." A polite smile followed the greeting and then Maddie was busy organizing her things.
Jasmine saw her other young housemate smile in her direction. Jasmine smiled back at Maddie Coop and gave her a little wave. It looked like the Ravenclaw girls were out in full force today. That was good.
SPOILER!!: Adi
QUOTE=FearlessLeader19;11674816]Another early morning lesson. As he had been for the last few, Adi came very much wide awake. Even his stomach was all fed. Just one thing was missing and he had to see Benny about that.
Adi stepped into the Greenhouse, immediately noticing the furniture arrangement. He also noted there was nothing on the tables. Hmmm. He spotted Professor Plants. "Good Morning, Professor.'' A cheerful grin for you. And waves for Lux and Jasmine.
Aha! There was the person he needed to talk to. Adi approached Benny. What? Benny was going to be starting a tea party? Adi noticed AJ too. "Hey, AJ.'' He smiled at his girlfriend before looking at Benny again. "Benny, do you still have Gus? I mean your dormouse.'' he asked as he dropped his bag onto the seat next to his bestie. And could Adi see him? He had been quite worried about his toady. Usually Gus would be in his pocket during class time but he had failed to locate him. Benny had been the last one to see him. Guster was a dormouse according to the other boy.
Ahh, her buddy Adi. He was always so pleasant and friendly. Jasmine returned his wave and smiled at him as he went by.
SPOILER!!: Bay
QUOTE=Grrr..Meow;11675117]Coming into the class room Bay instantly spotted his friends but of course he needed to say hello first..
Jasmine saw Bay as he came over near her. "Hi Bay. Everything's going well so far. How about you?" Just then Bay let out a big sneeze. "Are you OK? I hope you're not coming down with something." It was that time of year. Hopefully Bay would be fine.
Then Professor Walton called the class to order. It was time to begin. Jasmine was actually very interested in what they would be learning today. Although she was a little disappointed about not getting to work with the plants directly. When the first question was posed, Jasmine raised her hand.
Sometimes when plants are sick, they will have white or yellow spots on them. Jasmine knew this to be true because she had seen a few sick and dying plants in her day.

As the Professor began walking around the table talking to them all Hady took the moment to take out a bit of parchment and her quill. She wanted to jot down a few things about today's lesson so far. Taking note of what they would be learning she raised her hand to answer the question. "Professor if a plant is dying sometimes it's leaves will dry out and turn brownish before crumbling or falling off."
She knew this from the few times her mom had bought plants home. Her mother was a terrible plant keeper. Maybe she'd be able to teach her mom a few things after today's lesson. That would be good.
Lowing her hand once more she quickly jotted down some of the things the others in the classroom were saying. It all seemed to make a lot of sense to her know that she was thinking about it.

My, my, my... how times have changed. AJ was just thinking of a smart remark for Benny's little riddle when the professor shut him down. Was he really disturbing anybody? Not really. Besides the lesson hadn't even started yet. "Tell me later..." she whispered. No use getting Benny in trouble when he wasn't really Benny. AJ gave the boyfriend a big smile when he joined them. All conversation ceased when the professor started talking about today's lesson.
Sick plants. This class was made for her sister. Too bad Angel decided not to sit with them. That was something that she was going to have to worry about later. As far as the question went AJ had an answer. Her hand was in the air. "If the plant uproots and falls over looking all pathetic it's probably time to buy a new plant." Or grow one. Whatever those plant lovers did.

It may not look it, but Lex was relieved the man was still in his right mind. he'd be the first she saw in a while between all the crazy that'd been happening. Sure it meant an actual lesson with learning and that other stuff but eh, she'd get over it so long as he wasn't jumping on tables or giving out poisoned apples. What? We can't assume the book gender differentiates. Everyone else might just have gotten lucky.
She shrugged at his good morning, not sure what was so great about waking up to no candy for another morning and no wand of her own either. One day Airey would want his wand back and she would understand because she shared the same sentiment about hers.
Lex shifted a bit in her seat, trying to push away the dreadful feeling that this would be a mundane class. Potions had been enough with all its theory. Only good thing about it was the end where the troll showed up but that was short lived. Idly, she glanced around the greenhouse wondering if something would be kind enough to crash this lesson as well. They could wait til the end like before but Merlin let something happen.
The Gryffindor's attention snapped back to the Professor at his question. Sick plants? She didn't think she liked where this was going. "If their leaves start falling off and they shrivel and wither then you aren't doing a very good job." There. That's who you know.

"Gus!'' Adi said happily as he picked up his toad. "Hey, buddy. Benny treating you well? I hope you don't mind staying with him. I know he thinks you're a dormouse but that's only because he's gone mad and think he's the Hatter.'' Gus blinked his big toady eyes. "He'll be okay soon, I hope but until then, you stick with him.'' Adi grinned and was about to set Gus down in the teapot when Professor Plants spoke up to Benny.
"Professor, it's not his fault. Something's wrong with him,'' the Hufflepuff explained before turning to his bestie. "Pipe it down. Come on, put those back in your bag.'' He slid the teapot, cup and saucer back into the Lion's bag. "But you can keep your dormouse in your pocket.'' He held out Gus for Benny to take. "We'll answer your riddles later and have a tea party, too.'' Because the lesson was underway.
The fourth year raised his hand. "If the plant's leaves have gone all droopy and dry then start to fall off, Professor.''
Angel looked at the Professor and sighed. "One way you know if a plant is dying is if bark has stuff on it... this means that it is infected and will need treated if it's not going to die, though sometimes the only thing you can do is destroy the already bad section." Angel didn't like it when you had to do that.
Professor Walton was no Nana Bayless when it came to herbology that was apparent already and a great relief to the Gryffindor. Parents and grandparents should ever teach there family. Hire someone to do it for them. He seem easy going enough though. The fourth year raised her hand. "Mmmm like when the leaves are all soggy and brown then they dry out and fall off. You can also tell by the ground around the plant of course if it's dry the plant probably needs watering."
