Bright and sunny was the time of morning. The arena looked especially nice with the windows opened all the way, allowing the warm air and rays of light to fill the area. There was no need for an extra cloak or jumper here. The usual purple mats were situated in rows in the middle of the arena, alongside their respective small desks that could pass off as stools. Professor Romanos was currently sitting upon her own burgundy mat in the front as a small mechanical bird with long wire legs sprinted around her with no signs of stopping. Come in! Have a seat! Enjoy the sun.

She wasn't old enough to be losing her hearing already, that would be impossible ahem, though, was anyone else hearing someone yelling... weird things? Fight? Fifty? Firetree? Craning her neck, she looked around but...
Welp, the yelling stopped.
All was good?

But then he heard the professor take points from Gryffindor and it was from Alexa. Geez she was not like herself at all. She normally didn't get points taken from her house. But continuing on.
He got the spell down and somewhat of the wand movement, time to put it together. He pointed at the water at the vase. This would be safe and simple. Woops he needed to clear the ice off the floor from before. He said, "Finite!" and that was done. Now onto the making the water icy in the vase next to him. He pointed his wand at the target and said, "Glacius Tria!" and did the slash and the counter clockwise circle but nothing happened. Not even the water turned to ice. He was stumped. He went to the professor and asked, "Hey Professor I am doing Glacius Tria I think right with the wand movement and nothing is working.." he gestured toward his vase.
Speaking of caaaalls, "Glacius Tria is rather more difficult compared to the previous two." Which was stating the obvious, but sometimes the obvious needed to be brought up again for reference. "How are you performing the wand movement? May I see?"
And while she waited for Kace's demonstration, she quickly checked her watch. Oh! Goodness, where did the time go. "If you would like, feel free to pack up and leave. Our time is up for today's lesson, but keep a lookout for the homework. Aaawwwwww...
Zeke was sad to hear the lesson was over. He'd LEARNED things in this class, AND he only had one question on his mind... not like, a million. This was progress. Nevertheless, Zeke started packing away his things, making sure he left his area as tidy as the way in which he found it.
The fozen goblets were returned to the box, and he assumed that his yoga mat would defrost in time. Thaw out. No? Oh well, he didn't know how to counter these things yet, so he couldn't fix it himself.
Note to self. Learn how to do counter things.
Once he was CONVINCED he was good to go, he pulled his bag onto his shoulders and farewelled the Professor.
"Thanks for the lesson, Professor Romanos." Two thumbs up as well, just because he felt it was necessary.
With a parting wave, the Gryffindor bound out the door and off to his next class... which was??? ........................... whoops. Maybe he could hide in the common room and keep practicing glacius instead? Hehe.

Oh. Okay.
Apparently the lesson was now over and Layla had no more opportunities to practice the final spell. Which basically meant that now she was going to have to step away from the concealed frozen table leg and wait for someone else to correct it because quite frankly she didn't actually know how she was supposed to anyway.
She did so, bending down to pick up her bag as she did so and then standing up straight. Her eyes were still fixated on her mistake but she finally drew them away to look at the Professor with a small smile. "Thanks.. for the lesson" she spoke as she headed towards the door.
She wasn't sure how useful that spell would be to her in the future but she had decided that she might enjoy defence against the dark arts at her time at school. The lessons seemed kinda enjoyable and potentially practical unlike some of the rubbish they had been taught so far.
The Ravenclaw exited the classroom and headed up to her common room to dump off her bag with a spring in her step. Ten flights of stairs meant nothing to her.

"How...did that happen, Mister Tinker?"
Ian sort of blushed as he looked at the professor. He wasn't sure the best way to answer the question without acknowledging the truth. Ummm....well. What had happened was....I was trying to get the water to freeze. I tried it by jabbing at the goblet the first time. It worked...mostly. When i tipped the goblet up to see if it was frozen solid, the ice on top came out and I poured cold water on myself. So, I decided to try and get the tip of the wand closer to the water by sticking it in the mouth of the goblet. Unfortunately, I did it a little too far into the goblet and now I've a goblet-sicle. He shuffled nervously from side to side, fearful that he had lost his wand. He didn't understand all of the things about magic that made this work. One could only communicate so much in books.

Adi was still having problems with Glacius Duo. And he still hadn't managed to even have a go at Glacius Tria. Maybe he would for the homework because class was over now. Which was kind of fine by him. He could feel the frustration building up in him from being unable to get the hang of Duo.
Adi grabbed his kettle and AJ's goblet, returned them to Professor Romanos's desk then before heading back to his desk to grab his stuff said, "Fun lesson, Professor.'' She got one of his signature grins, too.
"Ready when you guys are,'' the Puffer said to his the trio as he unceremoniously stuffed his belongings back into his bag. He'd sort those out later.

Ian was waiting to see if the professor would help him out with his wand. He sure would hate to lose it. The professor however had gone over to help another student as he had taken too long to respond. Perhaps he would would get his wand back soon. As she helped the other boy, she announced class time was up and Ian just took his seat trying to determine how long he would have to wait to get his wand back.

The lesson was over already? But, she didn't even manage to get the spell down correctly. Well, she had glacius under her belt, but duo, and tria were not mastered. Tria wasn't even tried.
Adi gathered up her goblet for her, and all that was left to do was to gather up her personal belongings. "Thanks for the lesson, professor." No mention of the homework. Looks like she would be getting more practice.

Oh that was happening again, was it?
Maleficent didn't know who this Gryffindor person was, nor did she know what the points were for...so taking 5 of them from Gryffindor.......didn't seem like it could be classified as the end of the world. "Suit yourself." She responded with a shrug. Perhaps someone would find and console the Gryffindor fellow a little later on but he was none of her concern--and neither was wand movement.
Wrong? She was wrong? Well enough of that! Class was over and she didn't care to waste anymore of her precious time here.
"The gathering was a half decent attempt I'll give you that much." But in future, how's about spells that worked? That would have been a nice touch. With that she collected her things and headed for the door.

Seeing as she was doing pretty well on the lesson, Ophelia started packing up her stuff, planning on asking what to do with the frozen things later. Maybe she wanted them in a special place or something. It was up the professor, she really didn't know. Also, she said she was an expert jabber, so hey. Of course there was the girl who claimed these spells were ineffective. If they were so ineffective, then why were people freezing stuff? Even if you didn't freeze what you were supposed to, you still froze something, so that was at least halfway there, right?
Zipping up her bag and taking a minute to stand over her mat, the blonde slung her small bag over her shoulder and licked her lips before asking the professor what she needed done with all of the ice stuff. Could she break it?
"Professor, what should we do with all of our frozen items? Do you want them on your desk?" Okay, she should NOT have picked it up. Cold ice, cold ice. Owww.

He did manage to get a thin coat of ice there, but he wasn't sure if the water inside the kettle froze. Glancing up, Ethan heard that class has ended. Meeeh. He would love to stay and practice some more, but he wasn't up for it. All thanks to Lex for ruining DADA for him. What is up with Gryffindors, yeah?
Without saying a word, Ethan got his things and chucked everything inside his bag. He wasn't sure if Josie was upset with him for shouting earlier, and so he decided to just wait for her outside of the classroom. Passing by Romanos, he gave her a polite nod a muttered his thanks.

Class was over already? Lux had been having so much fun. Pout.
After putting her goblets back in the box, She packed up her stuff. She would have more fun freezing objects during the homework. She was also curious as to why Professor Romanos wanted to speak to Bay, but it was something she could ask him about later.
Heading to the door, she gave the Professor a wave in farewell. "Thanks for the awesome lesson! Enjoy the rest of your day!" And off she went.

After witnessing how she was performing and saying the spell, Medea bit the inside of her lip, placing her hands upon her hips. "Sometimes, even though we are able to perform a spell correctly, when it comes to larger or unfamiliar tasks, we are unable to achieve what we want. This is usually due to a blockage in our focus and intent. That small little part within us that's holding us back because of the unknown. You have to really mean it and go for it."
Unfreezing the girl's quill, she gave a small gesture to the goblet she'd been working on. "Try again."
So she had been doing something a bit wrong. She wasn't focused enough and didn't mean what she said enough. Lifting her head she nodded at the Professor. Hady was certainly going to give it another try. She really wanted to get it right this time. Taking a breath and letting it out she cleared her mind and pointed her wand at the goblet.
"Glacius!" Hady called out clearly jabbing her wand firmly at the goblet her eyes going wide as ice began to form over the water inside of it. She'd done it! Grinning happily she lowered her wand to her side.
Just as she was about to thank the Professor for her help she announced class was over. Already? Well alright then. Still smiling she began to pack up her things. "Thank you Professor I really enjoyed this lesson." She exclaimed still excited. Grabbing her things she headed for the door after returning the goblet to the Professor's desk.
As far as being comfortable with the spells went, Toby wasn't sure about that. He could cast them, sure, and somethings the object would freeze. It was a bit hit-and-miss, though. and obviously that was what practice and homework was for; he couldn't expect to perfect the spell in just one lesson, after all.
Toby surveyed his frozen objects; the goblet, the lantern, one kettle that APPEARED unchanged but was actually frozen on the inside, and one completely frozen through kettle. Not bad for a lesson's work, right?
Still glancing up and at certain students and the professor from time to time, Toby packed up all his notes and everything and got to his feet. On his way to the door, he made sure to speak up just one more time.
"Thanks for the lesson, Professor. And... sorry again about earlier."
Ahem. Yeah. Ahemahemahem. He'd just be going now.

Norah collected her things and quickly stood up. No more freezing? That sounded okay to her. She walked up to Romanos and said "Thanks for the lesson" before rushing out of the classroom. Was it lunch time yet? She could use something warm.
Angel looked at her wand. "Glacius Trio.." Angel was just about to do the wand movement when suddenly the edge of her cloak felt cold and she started to giggle and couldn't stop for a while. "It's okay Ben." She smiled to reassure her boyfriend. "I know it was an accident."
Angel then sighed... had she been that distracted that she hadn't realised the time. "Thanks for a great lesson professor." Angel was still giggling about her robe. Well she did find it funny... maybe Ben had been meaning to make a snow Angel?
"AJ was it your idea?" Angel said to her sister as she looked at her. "Did you want Ben to make a snow Angel?" Angel was still laughing.

Jasmine was about to try Glacius Tria for the second time when Professor Romanos said that class was ending. She would have to try to find time to practice the spell later, maybe in the dueling arena.
After putting her wand away, Jasmine returned her kettle. Then she gathered her things and placed them into her bag. "Goodbye Professor. See you next time.". With her goodbyes said, Jasmine left and headed off to her Common Room.

A flood of giggles...a smile...an accepted apology.
All positive things to answer his mistake that had wound up being directed at her. Ben found himself relaxing at that positive feeling having felt completely bad about what he had done even though it was something small. Maybe he could fix it to make up for it. After they wrapped up since Professor Romanos called the end to the lesson so it was better not to linger around too much. "Thanks Professor."
Adi on the other hand seemed a little down. Or at least quite ready to leave the class. AJ was soon beside her boyfriend, guess one duo was waiting for the other. "Ready..." he said simply grabbing his own belongings after returning his lantern to the box. He was fine with leaving and relatively fine with the outcome of the class hour. However he couldn't help the blush that he felt creep at his ears at the talk of snow angel.
Setting down a chalice filled with water, Gregoire raised his wand. Breathing in a deeply he focused on the cup. "Glacius!" He exclaimed making a forward point of his wand. Looking down at it, the water didn't freeze but frost was encasing the outside of it. Maybe if he used a bit more emphasis, Gregoire could get the water to freeze over in the cup. Taking another deep breath he jutted his wand out in front of him, and stated "Glacius!" Now he got it! But...that was a bit to much. The good news, he froze the water! Now the bad news was he froze the cup to the floor...
Before he could continue practicing with more objects, the Professor dismissed everyone. Sighing, Gregoire assumed he would at least have to try to pry the chalice off of the ground. Crouching down to the cup he started to pull...and pull...and pull...Finally after using all of his might he pulled it off! Though he wasn't expecting it, and the chalice hit his forehead, making a small gash in the front. Not even noticing the pain, he walked over with the cup of frozen water in his hand, and set it back into the box. Looking at the Professor he said "Goodbye Proffeseur! Vous voir next class!"(See you)

Practicing a few last time without any avail, the Gryffindor sighed when he heard that time was up. Why did Defense Against the Dark Arts have to be so hard!! Maybe Grayson could help him catch up or something because he was a fourth year for Merlin's sake!! Didn't that mean he had to finally get good at this stuff? Clearly the summer did nothing for him and any skills that he had before definitely melted away in the heat.
Gathering his things, he waved goodbye to some of his friends and walked towards the door. "Er, I, er. Bye Professor." Still awkward.

"Vonderful," she smiled, thankful that the wand was still in working order. "I'm delighted to hear so. Haff a great rest of the day, Mister Tinker." Nodding to the Hufflepuff, she turned towards the next student that was lingering behind.
