| | Professor Josephina Hadley's Suite Banner created by the lovely Luna Laufghudd
On the front door of the office reads a plaque: Quote: If you wish to meet with Professor Hadley, Hufflepuff Head of House, Arithmancer, and Muggle Studies Enthusiast, please schedule an appointment via owl (VM or IM is also acceptable ;D).
Thank you for your cooperation. Professor Hadley is a busy woman, but she is always welcoming to you once you've secured an appointment with her. When you enter her office, you will notice it's arranged similarly to her former office on the second floor (assuming you've visited there). The walls have been painted a light blue-gray color and there are a handful of paintings hung around the room, giving off a rather comfortable aura. One of the paintings is a rendition repainted by Josephina, herself, of a canal near her hometown in Perugia, Italy. There is a framed miniature Italian flag, as well as a third painting of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.
As with typical office decorum, there is a large, polished wooden desk. There are a few neat stacks of papers and worksheets on the desk. There are also a few framed photographs sitting on her desk; her sisters, her parents, her colleagues, and her niece and nephew as well. There's also another five-by-seven framed photograph of a handsome young gentlemen; like the young girl, he'll have the tendency to disappear and re-appear and may blow kisses once in awhile too. Behind the large wooden desk sits a black executive style chair. Directly on the other side of the desk - where visitors may sit - are two smaller black chairs, but still just as comfortable.
There's a bookcase on the left side, which contains various titles that Josephina collected over the years. Some these include, but are not limited to, The Complete Book of Numerology, New Theory of Numerology, Numerology and Gramatica, A Look Into The Future, and Olde and Forgotten Bewitchments and Charmes. There are also muggle classic books by Charles Dickens and Jane Austen, for which are a few of Fina's guilty pleasures. There's also a new book recently added to the shelf from recent graduate and Head Boy, Alec Summers, A Slice of Pi, All the Math You Forgot To Remember From School/
Be careful as you enter the door, as her [12 or 13 year] grown mastiff, Baisley, is very protective of his owner, despite mostly lying on his pet bed lazily in the corner (and not as jumpy as he used to be when he was a pup. Her [6 year] kitten gifted from recent graduate, Lorelai Bristol, in which she conveniently named Bristol, is typically just lounging on one of the bookshelves, playing quietly with a ball of yarn, or even pawing at a new addition to the room (well new until Christmas when he'll go home and be with his father baby needs his mom for first few months!). Just entering without permission is rude and punishable with either point deduction and/or detention for being disrespectful. OOC: You MUST wait until your character has been invited in before you post. In order to be invited in, you need to request an appointment with Professor Hadley via owl (PM/VM/IM). Appointments: |

A memo in the shape of a paper plane glides gracefully through the crack beneath the door, before exercising a smooth landing on the Professor's desk.

Maybe Elodie had gone a little overboard on finding little things to add to the box for Professor Hadley and the BABY. Clothes, toys, self made rattles, knitted toys, all the knitted things, charmed drawings of the tide coming in and out, maybe even charmed pictures of the alphabet and number one to ten. No biggie. Just venting distractions about life into this box of gifts. OH, AND THE LETTERS FROM HUFFLEPUFFS TOO.
It was mega cute.
Big blue bow.
She could be crafty when she wanted to.
She waited around outside her Head of Houses office with the big box and a big bag of life options and issues she had. Career options. Travel options. The big bad world.

Frowning when it landed on her desk, she read it over just stared. Were her Gryffindors being unusually misbehaving this term? She knew them to be slight mischievous, but it was usually nothing worthy of a note from the house head. Nonetheless, she took the note and set it aside, making mental notes if she saw anything to let Seren know. Quote:

She waited around outside her Head of Houses office with the big box and a big bag of life options and issues she had. Career options. Travel options. The big bad world. But there was someone she WAS expecting. Glancing at her clock, she frowned and wondered if she had time to have a floo conversation with Addison and Septimus for a moment. Well not so much Septimus, as he was only a few months old, but she'd at least "see" him to make sure he was being fed and whatnot. Eh ... she better wait till after her meeting with her prefect.
And there was the knock.
Not even bothering to ask who it was, she flicked her wrist and the door swung open to see an Elodie holding a big box. Eyes bulging wide, she frowned. "Elodie! Oh you didn't! Come... set that right down on the table there." She met the seventh year at the door.

She smiled anyway, and wiggled a couple of fingers underneath the box as if to wave hello. She could see over the box perfectly well; that sort of thing was easy enough when you were 5'10. But so was reaching for the top shelf in shops and that was only a pain in the behind because other people asked for your help when you really didn't want to have anything to do with them. She was not a people person. Duh. "Hiiiiiiiiii!"
The table? Oh. Okay. Awesome. She shuffled in that direction, and let her arms free of the box and grinned at her Head of House. "It's just a few things. To say congratulations and welcome to the world and stuff. Nothing too much. I spent more on the ribbon for the bow than I did anything. I promise!" The rest was just bits she'd picked up for literally nothing or put together herself. Like the charms and stuff? That was her. Being of age was pretty damn aweeesome.

And it was always still awkward when students were taller than you. See now if it was Fina carrying that box, she no doubt would have struggled, but it seemed that her prefect had no issues. Even with her heels, the prefect was still taller. Not that it was something she hadn't grown used to by now; seventh years being taller than her, but it was still weird. "Aw, that really IS sweet of you! I know that Septimus is really going to enjoy the gifts." Did she mention how much she loved Hufflepuff? Because really, her badgers were the most thoughtful and warm students in the WHOLE school. That was a fact. Speaking of which; "How are the new badgers working out this year? I haven't really gotten the chance to meet too many. Everyone behave alright at the feast?" Fina took a seat behind her desk because it was more comfortable than standing and made her feel less weird about the height thing

Did you have that in mind all pregnancy?" Would it be strange if she asked questions about the pregnancy and stuff? Technically it kind of was studying, considering the field she wanted to go into but...she didn't know if it overstepped any boundaries with her Head of House. It was cool if so. She had books she could read about it anyway. Somewhere. "I left the box in the common room for a few weeks with stuff for people to write their own notes, too. People reaaaalllly like you, y'know? There's quite a few in there." Or...there weren't... until Els had mentioned it to Tam in a letter and she'd mentioned it to Lori and Lori had sent her own.
It was all quite confusing. Either way...Elodie knew there were a bunch of little Stemp notes in tbhere too. Clearly Tam's friend and her posse of children had all wrote notes for whatever reason.
She brushed her hair back and smiled. "They're doing cool, I think. Had a few settling in hiccups, and a twin separated from her sister...but I think I covered it pretty well. How was your time away?" With the baby. How was the baby? Was he more adorable than anything? Did he do anything cool yet? Poop sparks?

Hayden was a little nervous, which was why she'd stalled her visit. She'd meant to come immediately after winter break, but time had gotten away from her. But she was there now, standing in front of Professor Hadley's office. She wasn't sure why she was so nervous. She'd been in her class, and knew Hadley was nice. She was head of Hufflepuff so she probably should have guessed she would be nice, but it wasn't a law for Hufflepuff's to be nice.
Anyway. She pushed all thoughts away and tried not to be nervous as she knocked on the door. She'd owled ahead and made an appointment, so Hadley should be expecting her.

Fina flushed slightly at Elodie's reaction to hearing the baby's name. Honestly she didn't know how anyone would react to the name who wasn't as 'into' numbers as she or her husband were but choosing such an uncommon name made sense for them. "Well considering I didn't know I was pregnant until four months in and I didn't know it was a boy until about 35 weeks, then no, not really," she mused, shaking her head. "But we did consider several options and in the end Septimus just seemed to fit when we were at St Mungos"
Okay okay ... this was just ........ breathe .... Hadley blinked at the seventh year when she explained her process of leaving the box in the common room for several weeks for people to write stuff. "That's ... I'm ... we're touched, really."
But onto the other news of the hour. About her other babies. "Always are, huh? A few that just seem to not want to let go. But oh? The sorting hat broke up a set of twins? Interesting... I hear we have two sets of twins actually this year?" She asked skeptically. What was in the water in the late 2060s she had no idea, but there was something with all the spouts of twins. "My time away was amazing! Bonding with Septimus and Addison and ... I just didn't want to leave them. But I had signed on for this year and I had a duty to you guys to be there for you. The baby sleeps a lot. And eats. I mean he's a few months old..." ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************** Quote:

Hadley had an amazing Winter Holiday with her husband and baby and it broke her heart to leave them again come January. But she was getting over the idea slowly and now a month in, she was just staring lovingly at the picture frame ... watching Septimus crawling around their flat made her smile. They grow up so fast and he wasn't even a year yet.
But there was a knock. Her appointment with the first year, no doubt. Setting the frame back on the desk, she glanced at the door, "Come in," she called, thinking that in just a few years this first year outside her door would fly for the first time or sit her OWL exams or her NEWT exams or take her apparition test ... she'd seen it happen before. Heartbreaking experiences for both the youngster and the teacher.

Heartbreaking experiences for both the youngster and the teacher. "Hello Professor," Hayden greeted as she was invited to come into the room. She walked slowly, looking around the room and admiring what she saw. There was a bookshelf with a large selection of books, which Hayden admired for a while. She loved books, because she loved knowledge, but most of them were about numbers and math or whatever and that was not a subject she particularly liked. She also spotted a dog and a cat, both of which looked nice but Hayden didn't make any move to try and pet either of them. "How was your break?" She asked. Hayden spotted several pictures sitting on the desk and wondered if they were professor Hadley's family, and if she'd spent time with any of them. She knew she'd had a baby recently, so she'd probably spent a lot of time with...him?
What was she supposed to say? Should she introduce herself? Probably, but she'd just asked a question so she should probably wait until she got an answer before starting a new topic of conversation. She didn't know exactly what she was supposed to talk about, as she hadn't come to talk about anything specific. Her family had just told her that having a good relationship with her Head of House was a good idea. She wasn't opposed to the idea, Hadley seemed very nice, she was just nervous and didn't know where to start. She should have baked her cookies or something.

Aren't people getting dead porky by four months?" Not that Els was insinuating that Professor Hadley had ever been porky. Just pregnant. And 35 weeks was pretty much the end! Had she accidentally found out the gender? Oh gosh. "I think it's a lovely name, though." And now she knew the name, she could go back and stitch something with his name. She was obviously a genius, right? "That's like when I was born. They didn't choose until I was born. Couldn't decide between Elodie, Rosalie or Odette." Personally, she was glad that they had gone with Elodie.
The seventh year shrugged like it was no big deal really and wiggled her nose. "It was no trouble. Gotta remind the kid that he has a million and one older siblings." And that Elodie Robertser had been the best one ever. It also meant that maybe she could pry her way in and babysit after graduation. She was good at that. Auntie Elodie was the favourite family member to all three little Robertsers.
Two sets of twins? "Two? I know there are triplets... Right? One of them looks like she was adopted though, because..." Oh. That was probably what Professor Hadley had meant about the twins. Two of them looked alike, and the other seemed adopted. Not that Elodie meant anything bad by that.. "The ones I was talking about were the Aldrich twins. Third years. Halcyon is in our house, and her sister Coral-Bay in Ravenclaw.. I'm not sure how Coral-Bay is coping, but... Halcyon didn't seem too peachy the first night. I helped her settle in first night." And she'd kept an eye on her too and tried her hardest to keep up with her or something. It was hard keeping up with kids when you were trying to keep up with your own emotions and stuff. "Babies are cute... I think I want to deliver them, you know?" Career aspirations, yo.

Josephina watched inquisitively as the young first year walked slowly around her room, taking it all in. Smiling and nodding at Hayden, she waited mostly for the girl to do the talking and initiating. As it was, she had wanted to meet with her, so she probably had a specific reason in mind? "It was good. Catching up with my husband and son," Fina said casually, glancing lovingly at the moving photo. "The cold is making me miss them already though and honestly I've no idea when i might be able to see them again. With the forecasts, they say getting to Hogsmeade might even be difficult." She paused, wondering how much this girl knew of the magical world. "You've heard about Hogsmeade, right?" Quote:

"Everyone is different in regards to pregnancy. Some people don't show until five or six months, for me, I just I suspected it, but I wasn't sure until about four months. Gender I just didn't really want to know, but the mediwizard convinced us we should know." "It was still a sweet gesture regardless." Hadley nodded, smiling at the million and one older siblings. Cute. Very funny there.
Triplets?!? OH by merlin?! There were TRIPLETS? Wait wait ... surely Elodie was referring to AJ and Angel, because it was just the two of them, wasn't it? Or not. But she was referring a different set of twins; Aldrich twins. One was a Hufflepuff the one the mattered to Hadley, of course. "Ah well thank you." For you know, doing your job? As Prefect. See now Hadley knew she'd made the right choice with Elodie as Prefect. "Healers and mediwizards are a very in-demand field, you know. St Mungos has a valuable career training program too," Hadley went on, shuffling through her drawer of career pamphlets. She wasn't an expert by any means in most of them, but she knew most of the options out there as well as alternatives. "You'll definitely want to make sure you've got a solid 'E' in Potions, Charms, Herbology, and Transfiguration NEWTs, if you're considering a medical field. And probably at least two others too." She handed Elodie the pamphlet on healing, before glancing at the clock. "Oh my I hate to do this to you though, but I really must be off now. We'll talk later though in the term in regards to more options, just review that for now, and see you soon?" Rising from her chair, she stood to usher the seventh year gently from her office.
