A strong iron gate with two giant statues of winged boars on either side, is the main entrance in and out of Hogwarts Grounds. Through out the school year, the Front Gate remains closed at all times with the use of powerful enchantments and is only opened when the trips to Hogsmeade are. Faculty members are the only ones who can undo the enchantments and open the gate to prevent the students from sneaking out.
There was a lot of foot tapping going on as she'd noticed and she could see the tension steadily building in the Professor, the kind that usually caused them to snap...kinda like with Mr. Firth when he used to pop by at the worst times and start giving her lectures. She knew from experience that you let them shake it off first, give them some time to calm down before you really started anything.
The sudden stop in the tapping, the forward lean and the glare all told her he wasn't gonna accept the explanation she'd compressed for him. It wasn't easy fitting things into 10 seconds you know. He should try it sometimes. See how much effort she just put in.
Her brows knitted, not understanding his frustration. Wasn't HE the one that spat at HER? You didn't see her getting uppity.
And then it happened. Just like with Firth the man thought she was mocking him. Merlin, at least he didn't start giving her the 'THAT WAS THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL A STUDENT HAS GOTTEN WITH ME' card, then the one the Headmistress liked: 'FIFTY POINTS FROM GRYFFINDOR!'.
"I would never, Professor Sir. You gave me ten seconds, I've learned that Professors like when you stay within the time allotted and that's really all that happened, legit!" Mocking, noooo, she was too distracted at the spit for that.
The kneazle began squirming around in her hand and she had to force him still. Shush Felix, she had points to save. One reason? Only ONE? "........er.......because it was an accident and I'll clean the Potions Lab for two weeks?" That was the start of bargaining. If he didn't accept she was willing to do what she did with Knox...even if that did get her kicked out of her office being yanked by her ear....
She had the courage to frown? AT HIM?!?!?!
That was one reason TO deduct points!
Still, Cosgrach was nice, SEE? He WAITED for her stupid reason or explanation. He was good. He knew how to handle people, especially trouble makers like her (yes, she had gone from 'neutral' to 'extreme trouble maker' just in seconds in his always suspecting Slytherin brain).
It took all of Cosgrach's will not to look at the stupid cat in her hands and he tried his best to make her as uncomfortable as he could with leaning forward and staring--
Oh.
Ooooh.
This took... a quite unexpected turn. Dramatic, even!
He straightened his back, then, and a wolfish smile started to appear slowly. "Two weeks, you say?" He gave her his dirtiest smile while his mind went 'Hahaha.' Silly, silly Gryffindor! So willing to take extra workload while he was just going to let her go anyway to get that stupid kneazle as far from himself as possible. She gave him the UPPER hand here, though, and he was going to enjoy it.
"That's two reasons, Miss Cambridge," he said in this low, smooth voice, "but I'll accept them. You may take tuesday evenings off." He even had a big, nice, puffy heart there, see? "And it'll be four weeks if that thing comes any closer than ten metres."

Was he going to take her offer or not? Lex needed his answer like pronto. There were plans that needed making you know. She was a Gryffindor always on the go. Even while standing perfectly still and trying not to have him explode again, her mind was racing through a million different ideas. All very pleasing to her.
"Yup. Two weeks." She confirmed with a solemn nod. Don't tell her his hearing was going now. She wasn't into repeating unnecessarily.
The smiles and smirks didn't go unnoticed. No, Lex was just good at keeping a straight face and snuggling her kneazle. Nothing to react to, she could keep a calm head on her shoulder and wait for the go ahead. Which came in the very next minute anyway.
It was a yes and she had Tuesdays off.....hmmmmmm...that was potentially bothersome. She supposed she would have to make up some excuse for going down there on a Tuesday anyway. Normal people asked to get stuff from restricted sections. Alexa offered to clean to get better access. Oh yes, most definitely. "That will work perfectly Professor. I'll do my best," at waving her wand a few times and calling it clean before she went snooping, "getting the place in tip top shape for you. It's the least I can do after what my kneazle did to you."
And now she owed her baby treats. Definitely. Alone in the potions labs for a few hours every evening? This couldn't have gone better if she planned it!

Do her best? Oh, she had to, because he had the power. He might be 40 years old, but he didn't forget that easily. And he certainly wouldn't forget that cat. Kneazle. Thing. Beast. Its paws clutching onto his robe. It probably damaged his precious robe, considering he had pretty much failed to dislodge it from his back.
Did 'reparo' work for robes? He had to ask it to Fuller.
"Exactly," he said, content indeed that she understood. Her kneazle's demeanour was unacceptable, to put it mildly.
"See you tomorrow then, Miss Cambridge." It was obvious he was pleased, though, despite the smirk he kept on his handsome face. He then tried to lift his foot that he had tapped up to walk.
...it didn't come free.
His face fell slightly, but he refused to look down, and pulled it again. It was no use. The soil must have got solid while they conversed, and it didn't look like it would give way easily. He looked down, the soil had indeed solidified, and PULLED his foot once more. He managed to get it free, but he had been so focused on trying to free it that he had put too much force this time, and he lost his balance. His scream was stuck in his throat, so he looked like he was being suffocated, and flailed his arms desperately not to fall. He looked like he could save the fall for a moment, but in the next, he had disgracefully landed on his butt, and only milliseconds later, on his back.
"OW!"
The cold had made the non-muddy soil turn into a ROCK, and he could tell the exact spots that made contact with it.
"You tell anyone, anything, and your kneazle will take its place among my ingredients."
He was still fully lying on the ground, with a painful face, but his voice lost nothing of its hissing ability, and he meant the threat.

"Why wait for tomorrow Professor? I can report to the lab the moment I'm through with my dinner this evening. It's no trouble at all, you can just leave it open and I'll have it closed when I get done." Raiding for ingredients she wanted. Ahem. Yes. No time like the present to get things like this done.
She watched him turn to walk away--without even acknowledging what she'd just said but then he took a serious spill in the mud, mud now everywhere from what she saw and and...and...
The Gryffindor did everything in her power to keep a perfectly straight if not somewhat concerned look on her face but on the inside, she was DYING. He--the mud--CRASH---HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! Oh sweet merlin, wait til her friends heard about this one. Jun would be especially amused after that statue of the man he'd made and exploded. HAH!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Ahem.
OOOOoooOOoooOoo but they were making threats now? About her baby? No no Sir, that was NOT how she worked, not unless HE planned to march up to her Common Room every night and cuddle with her til she fell asleep and frankly, she'd rather he not. Still...it provided an opening. "My kneazle's lived a full life Professor. He'll understand being of greater use to Hogwarts....and honestly, I find that er...forceful attitudes are lost on me. They hurt my feelings and make me cry at night. It's no use....unless we can talk extra points?" That mud was looking PREEEETTTTY scandelous. "Funny how the Aparecium likes getting wind of this stuff. Horrid column really. I've never liked them myself."

Y'know, Cosgrach would have liked to snap and point out that she was coming tomorrow because he SAID so, but first being attacked by a stupid kneazle, then being trapped by the soil, and lastly finding himself on the ground was terribly humiliating, so he didn't even ATTEMPT. Instead, he waited paaaaaaatiently for his threat to sink in--
She didn't laugh, good, but what was taking her so long--
That Cosgrach doubted she even HEARD him--
He tried to get up and not groan, because she was speaking now. He finally got up while she was speaking about 'crying'--that word never ceased to alert him--and he regained his taller posture on her by the time she was saying 'extra points'.
Extra... extra... extra points!
Blackmailing... blackmailing... blackmailing a professor!
"How--dare--you--?" was all he could say for the first few seconds. His face turned dramatically red in a matter of miliseconds, and it was obvious he didn't breathe well. To muggles, he might very well pass for a 'heart attack'. In essence, he was FUMING. He wondered if some steam escaped him as well. "Ten points off Gryffindor!" WHAT did she think he was?! Some CHEAP clown that humoured people here? "Make that two weeks four, and no days off! I expect to see you there every day from six to nine PM, and I am not responsible if someone catches you on your way to Gryffindor tower after your curfew time."
SHE--OUTRAGEOUS--WHAT DID SHE THINK--Had she bribed her way to that badge too?
Giving her one last look of utter disappointment, he stormed off towards the castle. Anything she might have said was ignored, and he was reporting that to Seren.

Regardless of whether or not he agreed she was still telling. There was just some news you didn't keep to yourself and a Professor being attacked by a kneazle, practically convulsing, then going splat in mud was among them. Definitely. Heh. This news was gonna spread.
How dare she? No no, how dare she NOT? Did the term Gryffindor mean nothing to him? Probably not. Pfft.
Wait whaaaaat? Ten points? That was virtually all her Ancient Runes homework. Duuuude. Her mind had skimmed over the four weeks and time stamps. 9? How about no? She was staying til she was DONE. Maybe midnight? Later depending on the potions she would be trying out. 9? Who even would listen to that? She didn't care there were no days off (she wouldn't have taken any anyway) it was the waste of points she wasted time getting. Waste. Merlin she hated that word.
Were it not for the red look on his face she would have shrugged at the curfew comment. It was JUST curfew, she could keep herself away from getting caught, thanks.
Lex opened her mouth to speak but he was storming off. Nuts. She'd have to go looking for him....after a stop in her common room for parchment and a few things from her trunk.

Wow, this was awfully depressing. Why was he here? Of all the places to spend study time.......
Coul adjusted his back against the gate, the super uncomfortable gate might he add- not that any gates were really comfortable especially when they were made out of what appeared to be iron, he tried to sit up straighter. It didn't go so well as he'd fell into another weird bent over slump that his body often did.
Bad posture, Coulson Bradshaw. Bad posture.
He flipped the page of his study binder, only just barely absorbing what he'd been reading as most of his thoughts were on Elodie lately and not much else. But he was trying, yeah? That was a start.
He sighed, wishing he'd brought some sort of beverage with him, his mouth growing dry.

The weather wasn't wonderful, but given their geographic location..it was nothing to complain about really. And staying inside was the most boring thing she ever found herself doing. Especially if it was in her dorm. Sure things weren't as frayed with Bliss now, but Elodie still didn't want to be in the room at all. If she could sleep in the tree house on the grounds forever, she'd do exactly that. Or with Cat. Maybe she could switch houses for her last year so she'd have her best friend to cry to when needed.
But here she was. Taking a walk to get out of her dorm, being followed by Gemini - she was actually sure that Coul had sat the cat down and told him to follow her everywhere and feedback hourly updates, because the cat hadn't left her alone recently.
ANYONE WOULD THINK SHE WAS IN DANGER.
As per, though, Gemini had bustled off ahead and was heading strrrrraight for the person that he disliked most in the world. OH HEY COUL.

Coul saw the cat.
He did.
It was coming straight toward him. And it was times like this that he regretted letting Scout roam the grounds on his own and not stay by his side and ward off cats that just didn't understand how much he didn't want them around. Not that that was a thing that happened often- cats normally knew better than to approach him. He must have given off a vibe.
But this cat? No. This cat didn't get that vibe it seemed. Wait, no. He knew this cat. This cat use to be a toad. Specifically, Elodie's toad. Did it not know better by now? But- oh.
There was a figure coming at him too. He knew this figure too and he smiled a bit as she got better in range. He even stroked the cat. LOOK. IMPROVEMENT. Scout was doing wonders for him even if his brain still told him to hate cats. He rubbed the cats ear before taking his hand back and using it to close his binder.
"Hey."

"Hey."
As soon as Elodie had figured what and whom Gemini was heading for, she slowed her pace and knew it was very much so okay for her to walk normally and not panic for the welfare of her cat. Actually, she probably should have because she knew her boys didn't get on at the very best of times, but that was probably because Gem liked to try claw at Coul's face when he was sleeping. Lovingly, obviously. He was just a misunderstood kitty, with poor stability on his legs recently and a lot of years under his belt. Baba was oooold.
When she finally got close enough to see what was properly going on, she tilted her head to the left and folded her arms. "Stop grooming my cat, Bradshaw." Stroking him. Psh. Next he was going to be keeping him overnight and having sleepovers with Gem.
Should she also mention the gate thing? Was he trying to escape??

Coul wasn't about to get cosy with the cat so he made sure the cat knew that too and gave him a little push back toward Elodie. Don't curl up here please. This is barely welcome cat territory, Gemini. Go back to your mama. ......Or Scout. Go find Scout, cat. He'll play nice. Promise. Coul pushed the binder out of his lap and onto the ground in front of him just incase Elodie wanted to sit there. Although.. he wasn't sure she would. Would it be awkward now?
"Isn't this what you've always wanted? Besides, Scout'll come scare him off any minute now. You wait." And then Coul'd have a pillow. Or a stand for his binder. That's what dogs were good for, right? Human convenience and comfort. Scout seemed to think so because he let Coul do whatever he wanted. He was strangely very okay with everything. Which was probably good as Coul would probably have hated him otherwise and wouldn't have gotten him.
"Have you come to help me study? Or have you just been following Gemini all day?"

"Have you come to help me study? Or have you just been following Gemini all day?"
The sixth year broke into a grin and shrugged her shoulders. "As long as he isn't clawing at your pretty face and you aren't considering cutting off his legs...I can deal." But if his dog was going to come and attack her cat then she would have something to say about it and good little Scout wouldn't be getting any Elodie kisses any time soon. And he definitely wouldn't be getting them from Coul, because he had already expressed such disgust at that kind of thing. Poor puppy missed out on the puckering up.
Came to help him study? Els shrugged her shoulders, and sat near his feet, absently playing with his shoelaces to give her something to do. "I like to distract you instead of helping. But I can try if you need me to. I'm kind of good at some subjects." When she really tried and didn't spend her time thinking about Coul in ways that studying was definitely not applicable. Like his face. There were totally no exams on that kind of thing. And him with his shirt off.............
...........drooooooooooool.
"He follows me, by the way. All the time now. He's either really in love with me or you're paying him to keep an eye on me." 'fess up, boyf.

Coul pushed the binder to the side a bit. "I might have thought about cutting off his legs while petting him. I'm getting a feel for how tall he'll be when he's missing half his leg. Or maybe the whole leg. Haven't decided yet." The Scout thing was a joke. Gem would probably scratch and Scout and the dog would just lay low on his belly and lick the cat. Harmless dog, really. Definitely not a guard dog. Sort of the opposite really. He was glad Scout was so chill though. Even if it meant he wasn't cat repellent.
He reached his hand toward hers as she started playing with his shoelaces, brushing it gently with his own. "I didn't think you'd actually take me up on the offer. Besides, it's time for a break. Or just a general distraction. Distract me, Robertser." 15 minutes or studying meant half hour break, didn't it? That's how studying worked??? Right?????? He was really sure of that.
The boy tilted his head at that. "Well he's always been in love with you. I told Scout. Maybe he told Gem to keep watch over you. Be your little angel or whatever."

Elodie gave his binder a look, and then looked between Gem and Coul for a few moments. All she needed right now was Mucklow and Radley and she'd have a full house of her guys. Scout too, if he counted. Coul got a smack to the leg for his comment about the leg cutting, and he also was gifted with a scowl. A pretty scowl of course because it was her and she did nothing less than that. Except for when she cried. That got ugly reaaaal quick. She could contort her face into some right shapes. Gah. "Cut his legs off and I'll wax your eyebrows. Then draw them on with marker." And then punch him quite a few times. Because Gem needed his legs even if he was pretty slow on them. He was as old as Elodie was..
Looking up at him through her hair, Els shrugged her shoulders. "Might as well help you as much as I can. I've got to get you to uni, haven't I?" Grades and all. Besides, it meant she got to spend time with him and she was needing that recently, even though it was probably one of the least important things she really needed. "How long have you been studying for?" If he hadn't even started, she was going to swat him over the head with that binder and test him on everything. She knew what was in there.
Always been in love with her? She looked down at the cat, and pulled him into her lap giving him ear kisses. "I've always been in love with him." He was pretty awesome. Gave her kisses, cuddled with her, acted like a pillow, killed her toad...okay. Scratch the last one. "You told Scout I'm a bad girlfriend?" Bad human? Bad whatever? It was fine. She'd told Gemini in detail everything about him wanting to break up.

JOKING, ELODIE. HE WAS JOKING. "Don't hurt my pretty face. You like my face pretty." He wasn't going to call her on her bluff, no, because he knew better. If he had said that he didn't think she'd do it, he wouldn't have eyebrows tomorrow. For definite. "I'm only joking anyway. I don't dislike Gem that much." Besides, cutting off Gem's legs would probably result in the cat's final hours. A cat couldn't survive that, yeah? No. The seventh year lifted his fingers to Elodie's eyebrows, pushing at them, trying to make them less like a scowl and more happy looking. He wasn't so sure he'd succeeded.
Coul shook his head. He didn't want to study anymore. Nope. He probably wasn't really anywhere near ready for his NEWTS but he'd rather not spend any more time on them for the next hour. Day. Week. Whatever. "You don't have to. I could do it. You've gone and made me a binder. That's help enough." Lots of nods and maybe even a cheek kiss for Elodie. "I've been studying for...." he checked his invisible watch "Long enough."
Sigh. No. "Not a bad girlfriend. I just told him... stuff... and to keep an eye on you if he saw you around... That's all..." He ran his fingers in the dirt, a frown playing on his lips. She wasn't a bad girlfriend and he hated it when she said that. So he pushed some dirt around with his finger, wondering if Scout was gonna show up and distract Els. And him. He could distract him too.

He did have a point.. Elodie shrugged her shoulders though to make it seem like she was pondering it and considering it in all of its glory. "Your face is mildly acceptable. I wouldn't say pretty." She would though. It was better than pretty. Sometimes she wanted to just admire his face and touch it to make sure it was real and that all of this was real. Was life real? Was she really dating him? Was he an angel? Was this all a dream? WHAT WAS REAL IN THE WORLD?! "I'd probably have to cut your legs off too if you did it..." Because Gem was one of the most important thinge ever to her, and he needed his legs no matter what Coul thought or said or HMPF. She grabbed at his hands and pulled them away from her face because quit iiiit, Coulson!! She didn't need to be face felt.
Shuffling forward, Els pulled on his laces so hard that they undid, and she started to make them into mega prettier bows as she watched him. "I can help. I don't mind. It...gives me something to do." And it meant she could watch him for long periods of time with a purpose and not cry about him from afar. Seeing him might even stop the hiding under her bed and crying too. "Long enough...meaning you didn't even try." She knew him too well. And he definitely needed to study.
Elodie wanted to tell him she need to be kept an eye on. But she knew that she probably did, given all things in total. She was more stressed out now than she had been...probably ever, and although she wasn't doing the same things she had before..it was probably borderline breakdown material. It was only a matter of time. "Gemini thinks you're silly for wanting Scout to keep an eye on me." Back to using Gem's name for herself.

Honestly, Lux had no idea why she was here other than the fact that she was bored and there was nothing better to do.
Hands holding on to the bars and her feet using the bottom of the gate as a foothold, the girl stared out to the area beyond the castle. Too bad she was not allowed to leave now, because it would be wonderful to go to Hogsmeade and buy herself some more candy. It was especially the Chocolate Frogs that she was low on, and though Willa was great in sending her them in the post, it would be nice to be able to go to Honeydukes.
It was nearing the end of Leah's first year at Hogwarts. She found herself spending great deal of time wandering around parts of the school, doing things she had not managed to accomplish. Eventually, the girl reached the front gate with its statues of winged boars. She could go out no further.
Taking a break, Leah took out a bottle of Butterbeer from her pocket and took a sip out of it. She peeked out through the gate. Nothing was clear outside. Dang it.

Melek tossed her bag against a gate and started doing some back handsprings, not looking where she was going. She landed on her hands the wrong way and came tumbling down. Thankfully, Mel did not land on the girl but just at her feet. Melek glanced up at the person and blinked, letting the stars go away before sitting up. "Hey... sorry..." She kept looking at the girl then back to the ground. All of a sudden, Melek started to burst out laughing. "I usually can do that without messing up... I must be having an off day today." A beam came to her lips and she didn't seem to mind that she had grass in her ponytail now or dirt smeared on her cheek and hands.

O_o Wow. That was some acrobatics Leah was seeing. A girl doing super-duper back handsprings... and tumbling down. Frightened, Leah screamed and dropped the bottle of Butterbeer she was drinking. The bottle shattered into pieces and liquid spilled everywhere.
Anyway, this older girl in front. Was she hurt? Did she need the Healer? The girl started laughing out loud, and Leah was confused. She grinned nervously. "Are you okay? Not hurt anywhere? That fall looked really painful." She extended her hand for the other girl to grab. "Here. Can you stand up?" The first year hoped she could. There were enough people being hurt in the school nowadays.

Whenever Abbi thought about doing homework some excuse came to mind to avoid. This was one of those times and this time her excuse was that she needed some fresh air, because apparently it was too stuffy inside to focus at all, not that Abbi planned on taking her homework with her. Nope. Nope. How would that make her brain work any better? Hmmm?
So off the second year went venturing in the grounds and waddling along just about everywhere. t didn't take her long to reach the front gate and when she did, she paused spotting a special someone's best friend.
Lux. The guy kisser. If anyone knew about what cooties felt like it had to be this girl.

He was more than pretty, thank you very much. "You use to call me boy-pretty all the time. I deeeeefinitely didn't get any uglier. It's not really a possibility with a face like mine, you know." She should know by now. They'd be friends long enough for his secret attractive secrets to be revealed to her. "Would you call it handsome? I would." Very very very handsome. If he hadn't already applied places, he'd just go try to be a model or something. That was an easy job as far as he was concerned. He already did all the working out stuff for fun so... keeping up with it as a job just sorta meant he had stand around in front of a camera some days. "Yeah? Scout might get mad at you if you did. I can't walk him without legs." Not that Coul really walked him. He just walked around the grounds a lot and Scout tagged along. In his mind that was the same thing.
The seventh year resisted her pulling at his hands and launched them back at her face again. Fun. Face touching. Fun.
"Yeah, but it's boring and lame and i'd rather do something else." Like.... anything else. Cuddling... Playing hide and seek... playing with Gemini.... anything, really. "I tried plenty! I was studying earlier. Like.. at four AM... before bed. So I already studied today. I'll do twice as much tomorrow. Promise." He was tired of it. He just wanted to spend time with her while he had it. And while he was still in school...
Coul lifted one of the hands that was on her face into her hair, tucking it behind her ear, and combing it through a little. "Does he? I think he agrees with Scout. I think they've teamed up." Maybe he'd leave Scout behind next year to look after her. She might need Scouty more than he did.

Lux. The guy kisser. If anyone knew about what cooties felt like it had to be this girl.
"Heeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyy." Beamy smile as always.
Staring at the bars of the gate, Lux wondered if it was possible to will them open so that she could go to Hogsmeade and get those Chocolate Frogs. Of course, she would get in major trouble and lose a million House Points, so probably not the best decision.
Oh, haaaaaai. A person.
Beam.
Smiling, Lux hopped down from her place on the gate and turned to face Abbi. "Hello, how are you?" Of course she was curious as to what Abbi was doing here, but she was not sure if she should ask.

Melek made a face when she heard a scream and a crash. She looked around and saw that it was the girl that she had landed in front of. "Are you okay?" Mel eyed the girl and then the bottle of whatever she had been drinking. She rolled her shoulders and accioed her things over to her.
"Yeah, I'm okay, myself... I mean it wasnt like I don't tumble often... I am used to falling." Melek tilted her head and eyed the girl some more. "Nah, I aint hurt... I might have a few bruises later but eh, a bruise isnt bad." Mel looked at the hand that the girl extended, "I dont need help getting up and yes I can stand up." She sighed and demonstrated by getting up herself, "See? Perfectly, okay..." Melek eyed her, "But are you okay?"

Slightly weird as to how Lux was staring at the gate, but maybe there was a reason for it all. There had to be. Nobody just stared at some gate...okay maybe unless they were dead tired and day dreaming. But that wasn't the case here, or was it? Eh. She'd find out soon enough, cause that's what Abbi did, she liked to know things.
"Great! Amazing! Super!" No mention of Lucas, she wouldn't embarrass herself like that in front of his best friend, never-mind all the cooties."And you?" She asked peeking at the gate for a moment. She'd ask soon enough, when the moment presented itself that was. Yeeep.
