Even with the arena windows wide open, there was still a bit of chill to the air, more due to the season Spring than any magical effect. The floors and walls looked particularly normal today, so there should be no fear of slipping with a simple step, however, the mats and desks continued to be missing. A good thing perhaps? You just have to wait and find out! Professor Romanos stood near the stands, casually twirling her wand while she waited for the students to arrive.

"Hmkaaaay, it looks like most of you haff a partner. If you don't, start drifting tovards the stands so I can see who doesn't." But for the most part, it looked good. "Ve're going to start vith Rictusempra for the time being. The incantation is rather known by now. It's rictusempra."
Ahem.........yes.
"And the vand movement is a narrow arrow pointing to the right. There is a second vand movement that leads this spell to haff a couple extra undesired effects, but ve vill only be focusing on the tickling part of it today. You may practice the vand movement and incantation first if you please, othervise....feel free to go ahead and start. And please, do be careful." Bunch of 'mature' for their age students in here. Goodness.
"A simple 'Finite' vill lift the spell. Shout out for me if you're haffing trouble."
OOC: Feel free to start now! Effects of Rictusempra are usually the sensation of being tickled and mild weakness throughout the body. Deaths are a no-no. Please no deaths. *mellow* Also, it's OKAY to not get the spell right on the first try if your character is new to this.

This was shaping up to be a pretty decent class, despite Adi partnering with Cutty and Fern's future BFF, the fashion knowledgeable Ravenclaw, partnering up with Toby. She had Lux for her partner, Cuthbert was publicly called out by the professor for being the loser that he was, and Bart wasn't allowed to practice with Ella. Fern's grin just grew wider and wider.
After Professor Romanos had finished talking, Fern turned back to Lux, "Let's practice! Rictusempererrr...Rictusempra! Rict-u-semp-ra! Rictupsempra!" Yep. That sounded correct. The Hufflepuff drew out her wand and worked on forming a couple of arrows. The first arrow went to the left, and she shot a quick glance at Lux to see if her partner had seen her mistake. But the second, third, and fourth arrows went the right way.
"Okay! I'm ready!"
Oooh, this was going to be rather fun even though Lux was ticklish so she probably wasn't going to have the best time of these spells cast on her. But it was okay, because she liked this class and Fern was cool. High five for her Dorm-mate. "I'm so ready to show everyone how it is done." Go Second Year Hufflepuff girls!
Listening to Professor Roman is explain the first spell they were going to perform, Lux got her wand ready and then nodded when Fern said to start practicing.
"Rictusempra... Rictusempra..." The pronunciation wasn't really hard, so Lux was not really worried about it. Catching her partner do an arrow in the wrong direction, she was about to comment, when Fern corrected for it. Good.
Arrow to the right. Arrow to the right. Another arrow to the right.
"Okay, I am ready too. Who casts first?" This asking approach might be better than randomly attacking. Lux was not one for randomly attacking people with spells.

Partners. Marigold looked around hopefully, but wasn't quick to catch anyone's eye. Moving towards the stands like the professor had said, she decided to start practicing a little. She drew an arrow in the air with her wand, then the incarnation.

Sander was still doubled over laughing and hiccuping at the same time, that when Alex ended the spell, he found himself taking deep breaths. Who would have thought that laughing could exhaust you.
"Whew! Yes I'm find. I guess I know now what the saying Dying of Laughter means. I was actually laughing so hard, it was getting hard to breathe," Sander told Alex noticing the concern on her face.
"Okay here comes my spell. Don't worry I won't prolong it too much," Sander grinned at Alex as he took a few steps back from her before raising his wand and waving it in such a way that he was forming an imaginary narrow arrow pointing right, Sander said the incantation, "Rictumsempra" and watched as a silver beam of light streamed out from his wand and headed towards Alex.

Before Kace could answer her question, Sophie heard the professor's voice over the sea of students. So NOW they could start, and with just Rictusempra like Kace had said. "Nevermind then," Sophie said, looking at Kace. "That looks like the green light."
She stood within a good casting distance from him and raised her wand. She got a good focus in mind and began thinking about the fact that she intended to tickle Kace. Well, this was a first--ticking somebody she'd literally just met. Heh. She made a narrow arrow to the right and called out, "Rictusempra!"
What was the motion? Jeremiah tilted his head a bit and tried to imagine what the heck that would be before turning to Tag, "what was the motion?" either he missed something or he just didn't understand the professor but either way all he got was the spell name Rictusempra which he said quietly to himself a few times
"Ric-tus-emp-ra, Ric-tus-emp-ra, Ric-tus-em-pra," he got all the symbols in there and his diction seemed on key enough for him "Rictusempra?" he said a bit louder in a questioning tone, Right tag was he doing it correctly? He had this thing where he questioned everything when learning it just made him remember stuff beter.
This wouldn't be so bad, see. Tag was an easy going guy so if Jere needed any help Tag was more than willing to give his partner a hand in it all. He watched as Jere practiced the incantation, seeming to be slightly unsure of he was saying it right. "That's right. You're saying it right." Tag said to his fellow lion in an encouraging tone. Now the wand movement. "Its like an arrow to your right." Yep. That was it.
Now Tag was going to get in his own practice first. "Rictusempra. Rictusempra. Rictusempra. Rictusempra." That sounded about right to Tag.
Oh, and Jere could totally go first if he wanted. " Wanna give it a go first?"

I wouldn’t have bought it except for the mean wand seller MADE me.” She smacked it against her knee a couple of times, ”Come on! Work! Rictusempra!” Arrow to the right, and SILVER LIGHT! Fern was so excited to see actual results that she lost her aim, and the beam of light went shooting haphazardly across the room.

Seemed that Fern was having some technical difficulties with her wand. No problem, she could wait. Smiling sympathetically as the girl explained her problems with her wand, Lux hoped that the next time it would behave.

She hadn't dueled in a while and so she wanted to make sure she had the wand movement and incantation down before actually trying the spell on Bay. Shouldn't be too hard, right? It's not as if she'd never used it, just not recently. Used it...it because wait, what was the incantation they were doing? ... ... ... Fern. Fern had said it! Rictusempra. Thank you, Fern. You're the best! Smiles from the Head Girl.

Ella made the narrow arrow movement towards the right a couple times, trying to get the motion down without it feeling forced. When she felt confident with both the incantation and the movement, she turned her attention back to the Gryffindor and smiled. "Okay, I'm ready." Nervous smiles were sent his way and she backed away from him a little, focusing her mind as she pointed her wand at him. Okay, here goes.

The blonde watched Jere do the wand movement as best as he could, and gave him some nods. Just like how Tag did it. Practice the incantation and wand a few times then get to the real part of the activity. So, now that it seemed Jere had gotten that down he looked more than excited to try the spell on Tag.
"Yeah yeah. Go on. You got this." Tag said gesturing several times. Jere knew the spell to stop it right? Finite. If not Tag may have a hard time getting the spell out so Jere could hear it and stop Tag's ticklish self. Only time will tell. "I'm ready, Walker!"

Sophie laughed at Alec's remark about Ella killing him if he hurt her. "You can't hurt me, these spells are not that horrible." She smiled. They were seventh years, which meant they have had loads of practice before which hopefullyyyy would make their mistakes less dangerous.
Noooooo, don't mention being old, Alec! That made Sophie feel terrible for pairing up and working with someone with not enough energy and resistance. Merlin, help her to be careful. Ella would be pretty upset with her if she actually damaged her boyfriend. Blimey. Bliimeeyyyyy!
So the fact Alec was going first was a relief. When professor Romanos told them they could go, Sophie just stood there, a few feet away from him - but not far enough so he couldn't see her (since his eye sight was probably not as good now due to... old age) - and waited. When the silver light hit her, it immediately felt like millions of hands were tickling her all over, and the badger started laughing at once.
She moved around frantically as if trying to get rid of the hands tickling her, but it was all useless! If that kept going for a few more minutes, Sophie would end up being all sore from laughing so much! Gaaaaahahahhahaa!

So she was going to go first, Bart smirked a bit, this was going to be interesting. He hadn't paired up with Beverly in awhile, but he trusted her enough. Shuffling his slippers a bit further away from her he turned and crossed his arms.
This was going to be fun and easy and he couldn't wait to make the girl fall to the floor laughing, not that his spell would probably be that strong, but a boy could hope. He gripped his wand with his hands still crossed, and waited for dramatic effect. Looking around at the others.
Turning his brown eyes back to Beverly, "You sure you can handle tickling me?" he chuckled jokingly, but it was fun to try and get into her head. Why not make practice a little more fun. "Give me your best shot! I'm ready."
Bring it on!
Bart's words got a small smirk from the Slytherin. Could she handle tickling him? Oh pleeease. She shrugged. "I certainly hope so." Could he handle her, though? That was the question, but she'd wait to actually see it.
Oh! Wait!
Bev shook hear head. "I'm going first, Bart Dude." That's what she'd meant by ladies first. She gets tickled first and according to his treatment then she'd return the favor. In case he wanted to try anything funny, she'd return it double.

The Hufflepuff stared to the right of Lux, where the light beam had traveled, her face a mixture of disappointment and embarrassment. But that only lasted until Lux spoke. Then Fern was flipping her hair and saying, "Of course it's okay. I was just testing it out, to make sure the color was right and everything."
"Okay okay! Fern shook out her hands and arms and jumped up and down a couple times before giving her wand a good long look. Behave yourself! Then arrow to the right, "Rictusempra," wrist straight, and success! The silver beam of light was moving right towards Lux's stomach.

UGH everyone had gotten partnered up already!! Caleb had been moving too slow and now all his top prospects had been taken. Even Sophie, who was his go-to partner most of the time, was with Kace. No fair. Kace had been HIS friend first!
"Anyone need a partner?!" he called out to the room.

He looked at her a moment trying to remember the spell again. What was it? Darn this old. UGH! Looking around for a quick second, oh right Rictusempra. He moved a little closer and pointed his wand. He had to do the wand movement which was an arrow that didn't seem too hard now did it.
Focusing on Beverly he grinned, "I'll try not to be too hard on you." chuckling he moved his wrist and did the arrow towards his partner, "Rictusempra" watching to see if she would start laughing. How forceful was this spell, could he put her on the ground laughing. That would be fun.

He was really beginning to feel like he should be regretting his decision about not waiting out the rest of the class in the wings.
He braced himself for the spell heading his way only to get short changed as his partner cast the spell before the countdown had ended. As such, and because he wasn't moving as quickly as he could, there wasn't much he could do but feel the effects of the spell on him and deal with it. She certainly had used the right pronunciation that Adi had corrected him on during their duel. It started as a buzzing along his skin on his arm and grew into the ticklish feeling it was known for and Benny fought the overwhelming urge to laugh in reaction.
The Gryffindor finally gave in, erupting into chuckles. "Ha-ha-ha..."
Oh.. oh.. oh she wanted him to cast the spell first, got it!
He looked at her a moment trying to remember the spell again. What was it? Darn this old. UGH! Looking around for a quick second, oh right Rictusempra. He moved a little closer and pointed his wand. He had to do the wand movement which was an arrow that didn't seem too hard now did it.
Focusing on Beverly he grinned, "I'll try not to be too hard on you." chuckling he moved his wrist and did the arrow towards his partner, "Rictusempra" watching to see if she would start laughing. How forceful was this spell, could he put her on the ground laughing. That would be fun.
So now he just had to figure out if it worked.
Beverly tilted her head at Bart. Had he forgotten which of the spells they were using? If he had he could just ask and she'd help him out, but it seemed he remembered. Funny kid was funny. "Bring it, then," she said, only feeling brave because she's seen this spell in the works. Not on her...but...well, this was going to be an interesting experience.
The third year resisted the urge to block the spell and stood in her spot. Then the spell hit her and she grabbed her sides to keep from laughing. SHE WAS EXTREMELY TICKLISH. TICKLING CHARMS DID NOT HELP.
HAHAHA. NO.
"T-That...I-It's woooorking!" Despite herself, Beverly laughed as invisible fibers tickled her. OH MERLIN. MAKE IT STOP.

When Romanos finally gave the word, Alice dropped his hand. Needed that for spell casting, y'know? Pulling her wand out of her robes, she took a few paces back and eyed him up. "Rictusempra. Rictusempra. Ric-tuh-sem-pra." It was a charm, magic she could perform with ease, so this wouldn't be hard.
Rictusempra. Rictusempra. "Rictusempra!" Wand drawing a narrow arrow pointing to the right in the air, she awaited the results.
West could fall over now.

West didn't fall over but he DID feel it... he just wasn't particularly ticklish, so he felt the tickling but wasn't bothered by it. It was just kinda... unpleasant. He made a face.
Yeah. Okay. Tickled. Great. There. Now it was his turn to pretend to cast the spell right?
... unless she wanted another go?

When the spell hit, it was as if several hands were tickling her at the same time. Weeeeeeird sensation, and Lux was ticklish so of course she was not sure how long she could handle it.
Laughing, the girl squirmed slightly and starting moving around as if that would make it stop. Lux tried to speak, but it was too hard to with all the laughter.

Ella made the narrow arrow movement towards the right a couple times, trying to get the motion down without it feeling forced. When she felt confident with both the incantation and the movement, she turned her attention back to the Gryffindor and smiled. "Okay, I'm ready." Nervous smiles were sent his way and she backed away from him a little, focusing her mind as she pointed her wand at him. Okay, here goes.
"Rictusempra!"
Bay had his eyes closed but she said she needed to practice first.. "oh thats fine" he said while letting out a big breath. PHEW… shaking out his arms and head to get ready for this.. "gahhh okay I'm ready" he thought while crossing his fingers behind his back.
listening to her practice she seemed to really get it.. "you got this Ella" he said okay he had a feeling it was coming soon and he was right.. As soon as he heard it he started to laugh so hard..
He fell to the floor in a ball.. "O…MMY….GAAWWWSS….. PLEAS…EE…..STT….O.O..P.P.P…AHAH..AHAHA.AH.A" he said screaming…. he was tickling everywhere!!!

Although pillbugs do that when they're afraid and Bay seemed more squirmy than afraid but... ... ..Oh wait, she really needed to stop the spell.

Hearing her-ish through his laughing the tickling stopped.. Wiping his tears from his eyes he got up carefully, dusting off his hands on his pants.. trying to catch his breath..
"that…. that was quite something" he said laughing… "well it looks like it worked…" that was a bit of an understatement he hoped he didn't interrupt people with his laughing and rolling around.
"ahaha its okay.." he reassured her.. as he was back to himself again… ugghhhhhh why did he have to be so ticklish.. so now that she practice it was only time for him to try it out.. GULP…….
"so.. er.. do you think i can try it out now?" he asked.. hoping she wasn't as ticklish as he was...
