Default Slytherin House Table

by Victoria Bunbury (BanaBatGirl)

The Snakes, reigning Quidditch Cup champions and second-place House and Gobstones Cup finishers, sit under a slightly frayed green and silver banner representing their house. However, the table is no longer in need of a polish and the place settings have returned to Hogwarts' traditional REAL silver silverware and heavy plates and goblets. Enjoy the much improved food!

Oh wait. Introductions, she almost forgot that part. "I'm Katrina, female Prefect." ANNNND Head Girl! But they could see it with her badge and all.
Ariel turned at the sound of a voice.

Was that girl talking to her?

Whatever, she'd say hello anyway. Ariel smiled at the girl, giving a wave with one hand. Uhh, finger wiggling? Was that a thing they did here? Even if it was, she wasn't going to do it. It looked strange. "Nice to meet you Katrina, I'm Ariel." She said with a bob of her head.

Ooohh, and Katrina had a shiny badge. That meant she was important. She said she was a prefect too, but the badge looked extra-special. Maybe that meant she was an extra-special prefect? Or a SUPER prefect? Oh, now that was fancy.

She was officially a sixth year. It was almost surreal as the got off the train into the carriages that would bring to back to Hogwarts. She had no idea that she would get such an overwhelming feeling come over her. She knew that Hogwarts had nothing to do with what had happened in her personal life, but she just couldn't help but blame the school a bit.

Sigh.

She took a deep breath and coaxed herself to just make her way to the table and blend in. She would be glad when she could finally leave the feast and get down to her dormitory and gather her thoughts.

Walking over to the Slytherin table, not even noticing how clean it really was, she took a seat. She scanned the sea of faces and didn't recognize anybody although she seemed to be looking through people as opposed to looking at them. She was going to have to get it together. This just wasn't like her. She wondered idly if anybody would even notice.

"So is it like, a big deal to be sorted Slytherin?" One house sounded just as the other, though he was hoping for exceptional. His father had gone to a completely different school and his mother didn't tell him a thing.
Good, kids who didn't find trouble talking with new people who happened to be older than them. Noted. She was kinda analyzing the boy's personality now. Like she was any good at this.

Cutty. Unique name. She registered the name. The kid looked like a confident one. Impressive.

What did he just ask? Okay, time to enlighten the boy. "Of course," She answered matter-of-factly. "It's a well-known fact that the people here are cool," She motioned at the people around her. Yeah, they were also modest. "Not that the others are lame," She had many friends on the other houses, and they were cool as well. Just a different kind of cool.

So the boy must be proud and flattered now. Or so she was planning on making him feel but her convincing skills weren't the best actually. "You'll get to know about the houses through time," Hopefully he won't ask her because she wasn't the kind of person to do so. She'd just babble and give an inaccurate answers. "So, had a nice train ride?" She asked with a smile.

Everyone listening would know then. "And thank you!" She totally surprised her snake!sister!ickle by not telling her. She told know one except Ari and Bee, because she used to be so confused about it. Turns out Headmistress Truebridge wasn't kidding. Snake Head Girls were awesome. End of story.

Things. Hmm. "Everything's alright. Nothing to interesting yet." Kat winked. "How about youuu and your.... life?" Cassia knew what she meant. HEHEHE.
Maybe Cassia didn't say it loud enough? Everyone needed to know that the Head-girl was from Slytherin. That was something to be proud of yeah? YEAH! They are friends you know! Naaah, she wasn't really going to brag about it. unless it was needed. But awesome, Theo prefect and Kat Head girl. Cassia had potential in dodging some rules more than the others without being caught? Not that she usually dodged lots of rules. Also, she wouldn't make her friends look bad and never would she put them in an embarrassing position. But she could totally enjoy a biiit riight!

"I see." Cassia grinned and raised an eyebrow jokingly at the 'yet'. Ehehe. Coded girls talk. Wasn't this interesting. VERY! Then at her question, the snake paused her eyes trailed off to another certain table. She'd been questioning everything and second-thinking. The events on the train with Lex didn't help. "Um.m.." She sighed tearing her gaze off the table and looking back at Kat. "Still same. Nothing since we last talk," That should do it.

He missed her already, but there was a redhead replacement that Derry was talking to by the looks of it (GrapehGrape). They did tend to travel in packs he'd noticed, except Clement who kept to himself or attached himself face to face with Kat.
Despite all the crowded-ness, you couldn't NOT notice the tallest of them all. Who despite being seated, was still towering over all the seated ones. And he had that look. She had not seen him on the train, not on the platform. And he now wasn't talking. She paused bugging chatting and kept her eyes on him as a concerned look formed on her face. She caught some looks being exchanged but didn't want to interpret anything. Asking if 'he was ok' right here when everyone was around wasn't an option. She pondered trying to drum up any conversation about summer, silverware, food or any random thing. But if he wasn't talking to his mates, would he want to talk to her. As in, was he in the mood? She knew he'd reply but she didn't want to push him to do so. So for now, she was keeping an eye out for him. Best wait for the common room or a better chance.

Adelaide! "That's such a cool name you sound like a french aristocrat or something!" Okay cool it Derryth, don't scare the girl off. "Or... y'know.. something from a fairy tale." That was much less bizarre. Moooove it on.

"Yeah I got lost like, a million times last term." she said with a nod. "What year are you? I can help show you around if you want?" Gingers stuck together. That's how it worked. Okay? Okay.

They needed to get a move on, hungry students were waiting. More accurately hungry teenage boys were hungry. Mhmm.

But then, like Derry always did, she was right on the money with what he wanted, yeah? Derry to the rescue with shortbread. And as soon as she gave it to him he scarfed it down in one bite.

Derry didn't really care that she didn't get a hello or anything, cause to be honest she was used to him not saying much. They spent a lot of time communicating via sulks and whatnot so this was kind of nice. And of course he wanted shortbread, because she was just so awesome at making it, okay? ... Alright so her mam had made that batch but that wasn't the point. "Get some table manners." she said. Joking, clearly, cause she was hungry enough for that... but she wasn't a savage, Stark. Psh.

SPOILER!!: My first rule of thumb, I don't say where I'm going, or where I'm coming from

Derry. Also has a badge. Tallulah couldn't see it very well from this angle, though. "I'm Tallulah." Pfft. This Derry just ASSUMING she knew how Tallulah was feeling right now. Sure... She probably DID know... but still. Rude. Ish... It was still nice to know. Heh. "Thanks..."

Oh!

Tallulah half covered her drawing, protectively. "Oh, um... Just... stuff... Drawing helps." She'd decided to sketch the fireplace closest to them, because she could see it clearly without having to strain her neck to look.

After a moment, Tallulah pushed the book away from her, ever so slightly. "You can have a look, if you want."

The other pages were better. She had other things to draw with, which she was better with. Some pages were full of geometric designs, and others full of filigree patterns. Some pages had pencil sketches in - of her mum; her dad; Fern; her neighbour Jenna (all sporting attempts of different art styles, with varying degrees of success), and some of the pages were full of watercolour, with no particular scene on show. There were at least twice as many pages empty as there were used, though. She didn't want to use her knew one until this one was full.

She momentarily looked back to Derry. It made her feel a little bit nervous, letting a stranger look at her sketchbook. It showed she trusted these guys though, right?[/color]

Tallulah? "You have an awesome name too!" Like Adelaide girl. She wasn't ginger, unfortunately, but she was probably still awesome. Cause look at her. She just looked it. "It's big and stuff but I can show you around or draw you some sort of map or something, though the staircases all move and some of the stairs just disappear and I'm pretty sure one of the secret passages decides to be a wall sometimes but-..." She stopped herself. "Sorry... rambling..." Oops. She was nervous okay, meeting new people was really really hard and she seemed to be doing a lot of it right now.

She noticed the way the girl covered her drawing though. She got that. She never showed anyone her writing ever. Except Ascanius. And that hadn't counted because it was to prove a point. "Helps when people are a bit too much?" That was just a guess of what she meant... but it was how Derry felt about 98% of things that weren't people.

...oh... OH..! She was offering to let her look in the book?! "Are you sure..?" she said, tilting her head and looking at the girl. "I mean... if it's private..." She'd understand and whatnot. ... But Tallulah really didn't seem to mind too much. Derry hardly wanted to touch the book, cause it felt a bit private for a first meeting... but she didn't want to make it seem like she didn't appreciate it. So she carefully turned the pages, like they were more delicate than butterfly wings, her eyes drinking in the pretty. THIS was better than humans. Take note humans. You aren't as good as drawings. "These are so cool, T'llulah." she said quietly, just looking. "You're really good at the whole... drawing thing." Way better than her. If drawing stupid caricatures counted as drawing. Bad caricatures at that. Carefully turning the pages back to the one she was using, Derry passed the book back. She'd have to use Tallulah's name in a story or something.

SPOILER!!: MEOW

But really, she'd get over it and make food for herself whenever she needed it.

"My mam makes the best shortbread and the best chicken soup but dad's always the one who wins the bacon test. He just cooks it better. I don't know how." She really liked bacon, okay? Even though she knew all the pigs and stuff, no amount of adorable could detract from the deliciousness that was a bacon, egg and sausage muffin on a really cold morning when she had to go out and feed the chickens.

More time with the kitten. Now back to the dorms. Well, come to think of it, it really wasn't likely that the fifth-year dorm was gonna be luxurious, they were still students . Eeh. "Exactly," She nodded thoughtfully. "The dust is awful," She wrinkled her nose.

"So, had good summer?" She asked her. Was Derry gonna say that by the way?

Captain. Yeah. Heh. "Mhmmm. So you should totally try out cause I'll be really nice and stuff." she said, BEAMING at the girl. "Who knows? You could out-fly us all." Maybe. Shruuug. Derry just wanted everyone to try out. Then again... "Hmm, I bet Lando would like that. I was trying to teach him to hold onto the end of my broom but every time I take him outside he finds something better to do." He probably just didn't like heights. Maybe that's why he liked Ascanius so much. They had that in common. "Anyway. We can make it luxurious. With spells and stuff." MHMM. Derry was getting pretty good at transfiguration so she could totally help turn their bedroom into some sort of princess suite. That would be super cool.

Good summer. Right. Summer lowdown. "Mixed good and bad. Met my dad's parents, grandfather used to play Quidditch for Scotland, grandmother looked like she wanted to hex me every time she spoke to me." Exaggeration but okay. "Then Ascanius came over and I tried to teach him to ride a horse, he was alright I guess. Mam won't shut up about him." Honestly. Introduce ONE friend to the woman and it's "Ascanius This, Ascanius That" and 'Isn't he a nice young boy.' Pfft. If only she knew. "Then I saw my granny and grandpa on my mams side and that's always fun. Then went to visit dad's parents again which was stressful but apparently I had to do it. And that's about it. So ups and downs." Too much information? Maybe. But y'know, she asked. "What about you?"

Oh. "Hey, is it bad if you don't call me that unless we're doing Quidditch stuff? It sounds really bizarre." Oh god, the others better not start with it. She was their FRIEND. FIRST. Captain second. Captaining obviously had to come first when they were doing practices and games and stuff... but she put her friends first, okay? Good. Glad we sorted that. "...I guess it's kinda cool though, head girl." Okay, enough now? Yes? Good.

Despite feeling relatively terrible about it all, in that moment it was rather dulled by hunger, and West, catching Derry's wave and smile, did his absolute best to properly smile back. Properly. Except not really, but she didn't need to know that. He didn't want her to feel bad, that just made things feel worse really. So, full beam smile. He was a Slytherin, he could fake it til he made it, and she was his friend after all. He didn't quite have the guts to give her the gift he'd got her though, not yet anyways.

Huh. So West had smiled back all beaming and stuff. It looked genuine. So maybe it'd be cool to go talk to him and make sure all was good. Not yet though. Because she was trying to do a million things at once and him and Theo looked like they had other plans so she'd just wait and try and hold onto all these conversations... But she made a note to go find him as soon as she got the chance, cause he was her friend and she wanted to talk to him and whatnot.

He got up from his seat and squished himself next to Kat. "And I'M Theodore. Your male prefect." Yes, just to get it out there.

Adelaide stifled a giggle as a boy shoved himself in the seat next to Katrina. She spotted the shiny badge on his chest. Is he a prefect too? His outburst confirmed her suspicion.

She smiled at him. "Well it is lovely to meet you Theodore. I'm Adelaide." So many new people in her new house that were actually talking to her!

SPOILER!!: Tallulah

Adelaide definitely sounded like a name that would be fun to paint, but only if she had it right.

Addi beamed. "Thank you." She noticed the little book that Tallulah had in front of her. She had caught the other girl writing or drawing in it before, but it definitely looked like something private you didn't show people. "Oh um, A-D-E-L-A-I-D-E. Mind if I ask why I'm spelling my name?" She was genuinely curious.

She saw Tallulah hand over her sketchbook to a couple of other girls. So that's what it is. Maybe she would ask to see the drawings too. But she would wait because it was obvious Tallulah was not completely comfortable with the idea.

SPOILER!!: Kat

But yeah, Kat was going to stick with the good side of things tonight since it was too early in the term to feel negative.

And her name was Adelaide. Duly noted, miss. "It's a pretty name." Oooh, and she was gonna talk to Tallulah. Kat wasn't disrupting any conversation right now, yeah? Hopefully.

What it's like being a prefect. Was she getting interviewed? Was it possible to feel this important now? Uhm, yes it was... apparently. "It's a lot of work since your house mates look up to you and you wouldn't want to make a bad impression of what a Slytherin leader really is." Maybe sometimes it was stressful, but she wouldn't mention that. "You get privileges as a prefect, though." Awesome, right?

Adelaide turned her attention back to the Head Girl. "Thank you." She stated beaming from ear to ear. She was just in such a great mood today. She was finally among people who actually wanted to talk to her!

She listened intently as Katrina explained what it was like to be a prefect. It sounded like a lot of work, but it didn't deter Adelaide's thoughts from wanting to be one. Was this the leadership the sorting hat was talking about? "That sounds really fun, well not exactly. Lots of work, but still fun." Because that entire statement made loads of sense.

SPOILER!!: Derry

Adelaide giggled. "Thanks. I'll tell my parents they did a good job in naming me." Not like they would really care aside from the fact that they were receiving praise. "I much prefer the fairytale. A French aristocrat just sounds so...uppity." She'd always wanted to be a princess that some handsome prince came and rescued.

Oh gosh. Adelaide was never good with directions. She was definitely going to get lost. She let out a sigh of relief when Derry offered to show her around. "I'm a fifth year. And that would be much appreciated. I still get lost in my own house sometimes." Over exaggeration, but her point was clear.

Zoning in and out, Hannah wasn't aware of what was going on around her. She vaguely noticed that everybody seemed to be in deep conversation with each other. For once in her life she actually kind of regretted not making more friends. Of course she would never admit that. Granted she missed the last two years because of that terribly awful thing that she couldn't bring herself to come to terms with just yet. Who was she kidding anyway... she was very selective about who she considered friends. She was a loner and she like that. Well, she did before her life fell apart.

She realized that she had been staring straight ahead without blinking for quite sometime because her eyes were unfocused and her mouth seemed to be slack. The green eyed Slytherin shook her head as if that motion would clear her mind.

Hannah turned her head in the direction of the voice that had just said hello. She didn't honestly think that whoever the voice belonged to would be talking to her, but she decided to be nosy anyways. Sure enough the young giril was speaking to her. She definitely wasn't a first year but she couldn't much older than that. She should know her. She gave the girl a weak smile and said "Hello." Yes, Hannah Lockwood could be nice when she wanted to be. Plus, this one was one of her own. Honestly she didn't have the energy to be anything but casual right now. "Who are you?" she questioned the girl not at all trying to sound rude. Hannah was a cut to the chase, rather blunt person.

Cutty listened as the girl spoke, believing every word she said. He took a look around at the other tables and saw more or less the same thing, but he would rather believe that, by sheer coincidence of course he'd been sorted into the cool house as Cassia had put it.

"Yeeaah." He said shrugging his small shoulders. "I spent all m'mooney on sweets from the trolley. If you know anyone who wants to buy any give 'em my name. The T is silent." He felt the need to say in case they were sending owls.

She thought maybe the girl might just ignore her just as every other Slytherin had done and her attention was drawn as someone walked past. When she did speak, she almost laughed, finally someone who didn't know her just because of her being related to the evil healer. "I'm Zoe Tillstorm." she said with a bright smile and just a casual voice "Third year. You?"

She was seriously hoping this term would be better than last term. At least so far it looked normal without the paper plates and red solo cups with sporks. That had been just disgusting last term!

Lucian was still cackling to himself as he walked toward the Slytherin table. Did he just annoy the Sorting Hat? Probably. And he regretted nothing. He came to a stop in front of the table and kept his eyes from widening too much. There was so many people. He hadn't thought about that when he first got his letter. Bridge and Jerry, his best friends from back home, were miles and miles away. One at Beauxbatons and the other at Durmstrang. That meant he had to make new friends, and while he wasn't opposed to that idea, he wasn't so sure how.

Just talk and be yourself, his dad had said. Choose friends wisely, my boy, especially those with power, his mom had told him. So what was he supposed to do now? Befriending those with power meant having to follow rules, no? If he was just himself...would that work?

Oh, jeez.

Lucian wasn't used to thinking this hard -- except on homework, of course. He rubbed the back of his neck. He was Lucian Octavius Blackwell and he wasn't shy. Nope. With that decided he just plopped himself at a random vacant seat, his sleeves making a smacking sound on the table from being wet.

"When does the food arrive?" he asked...well, anyone who new the answer. Food, that was a better thought.

Tillstorm. Tillstorm. Why did that name send off bells that clanged in her head. She knew that name. Where did she know that name from? "The healer." she blurted out all loud before she could compose herself. Obviously the girl wasn't the healer, but she definitely had to be related to her right? It could be a coincidence but Hannah highly doubted it.

Hannah had heard some pretty nasty stuff about the healer, but having never had to deal with her personally she couldn't really speak on the subject. "What I meant to say was that you must be related to her healer." Daughter maybe? Hannah wanted to know, but mainly because she was being nosy. She immediately went back to her composed self.

Manners that had been instilled in her since she was a child came to the surface as she extended her hand to the girl. "I'm Hannah Lockwood." Yes, she was a Lockwood and she came from a very noble family. Her family... must not think about it or she would lose it. "I'm a sixth year." She still couldn't believe it.

She wondered why the girl before her seemed to keep admiring the table. Did she miss something? What could have happened while she was away... or while she was in zombie mode.

But a second later, the hat confirmed what Caleb knew was true - Sophie was a Slytherin. It hadn't even occurred to him until now that they were in the same house. YAY! HE HAD AN ALLY IN ALL THIS MADNESS! He'd been very nervous since he sat down, afraid of saying or doing something that would irritate his new house, and even though it had only been a few minutes, it was nice to know that now he had someone to share this with.

Slytherin wasn't scary at ALL now.

"Sophie! Over here!" Caleb called, motioning his sister over.

Sophie continued her walk down the table, still hoping that an opportunity to sit down would present itself to her. You know, one that didn't involve sitting by herself or having to ask someone if she could sit with them. No one owned the table. Nope, she'd never sink so low as to ask.

...but just as she thought she might have to, she heard her name in an all too familiar voice. She turned to se Caleb waving her over. See, he was just so friendly, and that's why she'd questioned his Slytherin-ness. At least he presented an opportunity to sit down, though.

Sophie steered herself in his direction and took a seat. "Caleb--Slytherin! Both of us," she said with a smile. She looked down at the table, wishing the food was already before her. Now that the nervousness associated with sorting was over, she was suddenly hungry. "We should write home and tell Mom and Dad!"

"Well, aren't you going to sit down, girl? Or like standing around, do you?" This was as polite as he was going to get that evening. Probably.

Sophie blinked and turned her head to some kid sitting across from her. REALLY?! He had some nerve for somebody who looked just as young as she did! "Well, I would have sat down if I hadn't been walking down the length of the table looking for a seat," she said, her tone indicating how displeased she was with this boy. "...and my name is Sophie." Not girl.

But yeah. That was it.

Oh wait. Introductions, she almost forgot that part. "I'm Katrina, female Prefect." ANNNND Head Girl! But they could see it with her badge and all.

Well now wasn't this one just the happy Slytherin? Sophie listened to her rattle off a greeting that sounded kind of rehearsed. She noted that the girl gave her name and then her title. Hmm, the prefect? Well, best to get on her good side now, she guessed. Maybe that would earn Sophie the best bed in the first years dorm or something.

"I'm Sophie Newell, regular Slytherin," she said, giving her title, too.

During her look around the Great Hall, Sky had noticed that the Slytherin Captain's badge was pinned to Derry's robes and not West's. Well, that was an interesting development. Did Bunz have something against West like she seemed to have against Sky herself? Because by all rights, that should've been his badge. Hmm..... She wasn't going to say anything about it, however, especially if he wasn't. Nope, instead she just returned West's smile when it was offered and went back to observing the various shenanigans that were beginning to take place during the time before Bunz' speech.

Was that Wheatborn in the Healer's seat?

Faylinn let out yet another large sigh as she sat at the Slytherin table. It was so boring! This whole ceremony was taking a whole lot longer than it needed to, and Fay was hungry. Her tummy growled and she glared down at it...

She was more startled however when a young boy plopped himself down next to her. He was wet. What did he do fall into the lake? Fay scooted away slightly. Well..?

Was he getting an answer or no? Lucian propped his elbow on the table and rested his chin on his hand. He shouldn't have finished his mother's cookies on the train. One would be lovely right about now. Then he heard someone. His head perked up.

Curious as he was the first thing that came out of his mouth was: "Says who?" Not in a rude way, but in a sincere kind of way. Then he shrugged. "I'm not known for my patience." Just ask his mother, but not really because he was supposed to be an independent young man now.

She froze when she was faced with a question she didn't know. Says who?

"Ummm, I don't know," She said shrugging her shoulder, "Everyone...?" It was just something people said.... How on earth was Faylinn supposed to know who had actually said it, her father and grandmother said it enough times though that is was engraved into Fay's mind. She could almost hear their voices now...

She giggled. "Yes, I can see that it isn't one of your strengths..." It wasn't one of Fay's either... She was one of those kids that would tear open into her Christmas presents early if her father didn't put a spell on them preventing her from doing so (such a pain). "And um... why are you sleeves all wet?" She was quite curious...

"Well, you walk too slow. And my name is Cutty Mordaunt." He said introducing himself as if he'd said nothing offensive at all. Hearing her speak made her seem less spooky somehow, he realized as Sophie had taken a seat near another young boy that they must have been brother and sister. There were two of them. The boy seemed to be a bit smarter, though and not as fragile.

Everyone? Lucian blinked at the girl. That wasn't the answer he was looking, and he knew he wouldn't be getting an exact one because everyone did say that. Even his mom and dad. He broke out into a smile. "I know, I'm just playing," he said to break the ice. He saw the way she'd frozen. Heh.

He wiggled his eyebrows as if saying: I know, it's obvious, huh. He had a record for being impatient, even the Sorting Hat had just said it. Lucian glanced at the front of the Great Hall where a few more kids were being sorted. Was the hat still put off? That'd be funny.

He turned his eyes back on the girl, then at his hands. Oh, right. He held his hands up, the sleeves drying up little by little. "The squid trying pulling me in. He tried kidnapping me to raise me as his baby squid," he said with the up most seriousness he was sure even his mother would believe him.

Adelaide sat silently, listening to the conversations going on around her.

Noticing a new girl sitting at the table, despite being older than Kahlan was, she blonde beamed at the new girl. In fact, there were lots of new people... which was good for Kahlan... somehow she preferred introducing herself to people she hadn't seen all over the place before.

"Your new aren't you?" she ended up blurting out, rather than asking something less direct. But she knew this girl was new so it seemed a good way to start a conversation. "So are you happy to be at Hogwarts? Anything that you're looking forward to?"

That was better. A lot better... hopefully...

They seemed to shine yet Nicci never let appearance to deceive her. Looking suspicious with frowned eyebrows, she rubbed a finger at the side of the goblet. Hmm... she could feel no dust or something. That was a good sign.

Next he looked at the other Slytherin students at the table after flipping some of her blonde hair back her shoulder. People were loud, were not they? As she eyed every single Slytherin on the table, she stared with emotionless ice blue eyes. Now...was she supposed to make friends here?

Meh...

Another new person? And she also seemed around Kahlan's age, probably her year or the year above...

Shaking the thought out of her head she smiled at the girl, though the entire expressionless thing kind of already annoyed her. She hated it when people didn't seem to show emotion, or seemed to think themselves better than others. But then again she didn't know the girl yet so she figured she might try.

"Um... hi... I'm Kahlan" she said somewhat awkwardly, not really sure how to break the ice with this one... literally

SPOILER!!: Cutty

Whatever.

He hadn't the foggiest as to what it all meant anyhoo. For all he cared he could've been sorted Ravenclaw so long as his stores of candy were still upstairs with his things. He was planning on selling them to the other children who might be in desperate need at a slightly marked up price.

He sat there looking about at the other students. Trying to get a feel for who his best customer might be.

Oooh a firstie.

This had to have been the first one that she'd seen that had been sorted into Slytherin so far, all the others seeming to be older students. So she found herself move over to him, sitting herself next to him to try and be somewhat welcoming...

Because she herself had gone through this last year and the only thing that helped her were the older students that told her things about Hogwarts...

But then again Hogwarts did seem pretty dodgey last year, so she wasn't sure if she'd have any rights to tell him anything about the school - even though it did seem to be improving again at the moment.

"Welcome to Slytherin! I'm Kahlan" she introduced herself with a smile.

Was that even enough?

SPOILER!!: Józsua

Interesting...

Brits were certainly different from the students at Beauxbatons. It was either that they were more relaxed or less refined. Józsua wasn't quite sure which. He didn't mind either. Change was good. And this was a MASSIVE change.

He decided he would just spend time people watching for now. If anyone spoke to him then, great, but he was quite happy to sit here and observe for now.

Another older student... and again Kahlan was quite sure that he was new to Hogwarts but with this one she actually wasn't sure so she turned to him a soft smile on her face as she studied the older boy.

"Welcome to Slytherin... I'm Kahlan Moriarty" she introduced herself, holding her hand out for him to shake, hoping that he'd actually shake her hand. Too many kids didn't seem to care for that sort of thing.

And that always left the young Slytherin feeling rather awkward.

SPOILER!!: Caleb though I'm assuming you've already sat down O.o

This was SLYTHERIN after all. Even though he was beyond excited about his house, they didn't have the nicest reputation...

"Um. Hi. Can I sit here?" Caleb asked, pointing to a sit next to one of the older kids. There weren't many empty seats, so it was this seat, or risk having to STAND or something. Which would be totally embarrassing.

Another firstie... this was the second one that she'd seen sorted into Slytherin... which really made her wonder which house all the first years are in... or whether they'd just been left behind at the platform. But she allowed a toothy grin to cross her face as she turned herself towards him.

"Hey, welcome to Slytherin! I'm Kahlan Moriarty, second year" she introduced herself fully, making sure she'd answered all the main questions that seemed to be asked. House was obvious, and she'd stated her name and her year... all good.

"Excited to be at Hogwarts?" she continued, trying to make a bit more effort with this kid.

But, was the food also good to eat this year? Hmm, she wanted to try it because.... SHE WAS HUNGRYYYYYYYYYYY!

Still grinning and with her eyes fixed on the tables to see if everything really was the same and she was even happy enough to greet the other Slytherins who were already sitting and chatting with each other. "HELLLLLLOOOOOOO!" Laughed Sonea while she sat down on a random place.

A massive grin grew on the blonde's face as she saw the familiar, older Slytherin girl. She'd somehow ended up loosing Sonea on the way to the Hall from the carriages but here she was.

"Hi Sonea! WE HAVE PROPER PLATES!!!! she finished, yelling happily, not really caring who noticed her little outburst. This was amazing - especially after the ONE plastic plate and set of utensils they got for the whole year last year.

Hogwarts was improving.

And she couldn't believe how great it already was!

She wondered where the first years she'd met on the boats had gone off to. Had they been sorted yet? Were any of them here with her? Instead, she just saw a sea of unknown faces, and she sure wasn't going to go up to one of them and ask to sit next to them. This was Slytherin, and she had to be strong.

Too bad Aunt Sierra had graduated two years ago...

She continued her walk down the table, kind of hoping an opportunity would just jump out at her.

Aww.... another baby snake, and a girl this time! Kahlan grinned, despite the seemingly shy demeanor of this one.

"Hey, welcome to Slytherin, I'm Kahlan Moriarty" she introduced herself quickly, her grin fading into a softer smile as she looked at the girl. Oh how she reminded Kahlan of what last year was like for her.

Another first year! Now they were starting to appear and Kahlan was actually pretty excited about that as she looked at the next girl that game down to Slytherin table, looking a bit awed by everything around her.

"It's amazing isn't it?" she asked the other girl softly, a smile on her face as she looked up at the ceiling taking in the beauty of it all. "Welcome to Slytherin by the way, I'm Kahlan, what's your name?

She hadn't even noticed this first year arrive, but she already thought he was obnoxious. Still she'd give him a chance...

It was probably just that he was hungry.

"Um... after the sorting is over" she offered, cocking her head to the side to offer that it seemed to her to be the most obvious thing in the world. "Welcome to Slytherin" she added, trying to make it obvious that she didn't mean to seem arrogant.

"I'm Kahlan, what's your name?" the Irish girl concluded, a small smile on her face.

Kat went over to the three new Slytherin girls. "Heeey, you guys!" she said. "Welcome to Hogwarts and congratulations on being sorted into the most noble house of Slytherin." They got finger wiggles from Kat for being awesome.

"My name is Katrina, your female prefect." The head girl part would have to be noticed... because that was necessary.

Still looking all suspicious, Nicci picked up a silverware fork and was about to start to examine it when she realised someone approaching. She looked up and her icy blue eyes fell on the girl approaching. She eyed her badge momentarily before looking back at her face with an emotionless expression.

Even after the girl greeted her in such a friendly way, Nicci's emotionless expression did not change as she was not used to such things. She just stared for a moment before a slight smile appeared on her face. ''Noble...''she repeated. ''Sounds suitable for me.'' She eyed the girl's badge again and looked back at her face. ''Well...Katrina, i am Nicci. And you said prefect but...'' she pointed at the glaming badge ''...it says Head Girl there''

SPOILER!!: Zoe

Auntie was here, so of course Zoe had to come back. Twisting her long hair up into a messy bun she set it in place with a scrunchie she always carried and moved down the table to her spot when she found someone else sitting there. In her usual spot! Sighing she took a seat next to her instead. Likely new, right? Oh well.

"Hi" she said brightly settling her robes around her before turning to the girl.

Nicci turned away from the Head Girl to look around briefly with narrowed icy blue eyes. It was so crowded and people were loud. Did not they ever shut up? If they did not, then maybe, Nicci thought, she could find a way to make them shut up. She held the silverware fork between two elegant fingers loosely as her eyes narrowed even more at someone at the table with the people with yellow stuff.

Then someone sitting next to her took all her attention. She turned immediately to see it was a girl about or exactly her age, she could not be sure, not that she cared anyway. Her cold eyes eyed the girl momentarily before she quickly reached to the girl's head and suddenly plucked a string of hair from her. Then an empty grin appeared on her lips.

SPOILER!!: Derry (AliceLove)

Derry walked over to the girl and took a seat next to her. "Hi, I'm Derry." she said, offering a smile. "I noticed you're new and thought I'd come over and say welcome so... Welcome to Hogwarts, and to Slytherin." Friendly... yes? "And if you're a flier I'd love to see you at tryouts." Please? Cause it'd be cool to see how everyone flew together, the old and the new, the awesome and the... possibly awesome.

Still grinning in her own way that most people found disturbing, Nicci started to play with the string of hair that she had plucked from the girl's head. She rolled it around an elegant finger and unrolled it as if trying to test its quality. It did not feel bad for a girl...in aloud place like this.

Then her attention was drifted to somewhere else when she realised someone else sitting down next to her. Her icy blue eyes had an unsettling look to them as she eyed the girl, another girl with a badge, yet a grin reached to her lips again which the cold looking eyes of her made it look as if she was up to something. ''Oh...you have such eagle eyes if you figured i am new.'' she said before letting out a short giggle ''I am Nicci. And yes, i can fly.''

SPOILER!!: Ascanius

Nodding his head at the new girl, Ascanius leaned his elbow on the table, "Hey, beautiful." He needed to know her name. Not that he was EVER going to call her by it, but it was gentlemanly to just know it, yeah?

Nicci did not know what was the matter with all the people here yet they looked like they liked to be loud, lived loud and was apparently numb to the annoyance of it. She watched a few as they performed the most unnecessary behaviour she had ever seen around the tables. The blonde girl supposed it would be, at a point, fun to teach those the ways of proper behaviour and the lessons would of course involve pain.

Pain was a good teacher and such people only learned via it anyway.

Just when she was looking around, her icy blue eyes caught the sight of a boy nodding at her. She raised her eyebrows and stared back at her with the usual expression she wore; once that showed no emotion. She watched carefully until he got closer and spoke. She stared for one more moment in silence with a cold air before a small smile appeared on her lips. ''My, my, my...'' she said the smile growing bigger and turning into a smirk. She reached to his face with an elegant finger and ran it down his cheek. ''...are not you sweet?''

SPOILER!!: Kahlan

"Um... hi... I'm Kahlan" she said somewhat awkwardly, not really sure how to break the ice with this one... literally

The boy there was handsome, no doubt, and he looked like he would make a good victim partner for her studies. Even though she found them slightly disturbing now, Nicci would not use choose a girl to help her with her studies. Girls were supposed to handle their own business.

Her icy blue eyes went around to look if there was another boy yet instead another girl took her attention when she greeted her. Nicci supposed she greeted her as she apparently was looking at her. What was the matter with the girl? She stared at her without blinking before smiling a tiny bit. ''Kahlan...'' she repeated the name as if testing if saying it fit her lips properly. ''That's nice.'' She stopped for a moment yet spoke again when she supposed the girl wanted to know her name too. ''I am Nicci''

The boy seemed to be a bit smarter, though and not as fragile.

...really?!

Sophie gave him a 'What in the name of Merlin?' look then turned to Caleb as if to say 'Can you believe this kid?'. She turned back to Cutty, as he'd said his name was, and with confidence replied, "Well, excuse me. I didn't realize needing to impress you was on the agenda today."

Yup, just as she'd said. Some boys could really be way too full of themselves. She was glad Caleb wasn't like that. Having to live with an annoying jerk her whole life would get really old really fast. "What kind of name is Cutty anyway?" she said, feeling some sort of need to snap back, no matter how small.

Cutty Mordaunt had put her in a foul mood now, so Sophie was in no mood to smile and play nice. She scrunched her face into a look of annoyance and rested her cheek in the palm of her hand. She had just released a sigh of frustration, when she noticed that someone was talking to her.

Oh, ...right. She should really try to appear somewhat more approachable. She had no intentions of not getting along with anymore housemates. At least not on her first day. "I'm Sophie Newell," she said, "and thanks. It's the house I was hoping for."

Ah, sitting and waiting, that was something she didn't wanted at the moment, sitting was boringgggggg and she wanted to eat! She was hungry because she hasn't had bought anything to eat in the train, simply because she wanted to eat as much as possible when she was here, so her stomach was now making a few REALLY loud noises...

But then she heard a voice she didn't knew and looked besides her and saw... somebody she didn't knew? Oh, who was that? Curious who the other student was she walked toward him and greeted him. "Hey! Who are you? and... The food will probably arrive in a few minutes, when all the official and boring stuff is done..." and than she offered the boy her hand. "I'm Sonea Duvessa" she eyed the boy and wondered if he would be a good Slytherin.

You have bewitched me body and soul, And I love- I love- I love you

Slowly Mack made her way to the Slytherin table. She hadn't spoken to Sonea in quite some time sadly, and thanks to her grandparents being over protective she wasn't able to see her friend in Diagon Alley over their summer vacation.

"Sonea!!" the blonde squealed when she finally saw the girl in the crowd of students.. "How are you? How was your summer?" Mackenzie had a million different questions to ask but would refrain and start with two first.

Ooohh, and Katrina had a shiny badge. That meant she was important. She said she was a prefect too, but the badge looked extra-special. Maybe that meant she was an extra-special prefect? Or a SUPER prefect? Oh, now that was fancy.

Lots of mixed reactions from the different new Slytherins. That was interesting. Naaaah, she was kidding. It was annoying to see that because Kat didn't exactly know what to feeling. SIGHS. She was doing what she was supposed to do. She wanted all of this finished and done with so that she could finally flop on her bed. Her dormitory was calling her, summoning her. But yeah, anyway...

"Nice to meet you too," Kat smiled. And Ariel. It was a familiar name, like she's heard it before... but at the same time, she didn't know what that name is. Strange, but at least she knew the girl's name.

Yeah. That was it.

Cassia did seem to have all the privileges since she was the Head Girl's snake!sister!ickle and then she, too, was Theo's friend and year mate. Lucky girl. But that didn't give her the permission to go breaking the rules and losing house points for Slytherin. That wasn't anything Kat could untangle her or any of the Slytherins from. Once they made a mistake and a Professor found out, they'd have to pay the debt. Kat can't do anything about it but she let it be. All she could do was hope nobody in Slytherin got in trouble and that nobody was going to be doing foolish things. They were going to get an angry Kat if they did dumb stuff.

Ooooooh, she got it! Kat grinned as well, because you know... girl code and that stuff. T'was a girl to girl thing and boys could never understand it. Not at all, nope. And... did Kat ask the wrong question? Why did Cassia look all straight-faced all of a sudden? "Something you want to talk about?" Or in a better understaind, someone you want Kat to confront? Because she'd do it. Just not right now, not in front of the student body.

"...I guess it's kinda cool though, head girl." Okay, enough now? Yes? Good.

Did calling her Captain make her more uncomfortable? Aw, too bad. "Nah, it's all good. I actually understand." Even people calling her Head Girl was weird because she was just so used to 'just Prefect'. She had only worn her Prefect badge for a term, but she gave that up for this one. With more responsibilities, that it. Hah. Derry had called her head girl. "And you can just call me Kat. 'Head girl' is still in need of some getting-used-to." After all, she was still just Harry Katrina.

Was this the leadership the sorting hat was talking about? "That sounds really fun, well not exactly. Lots of work, but still fun." Because that entire statement made loads of sense.

N'aaw. This girl was sweet and totally not snappy. Kat liked that, because she soooo did not need any sassy Slytherins on the first day. Specifically the Start-of-Term feast. "No problem," she said and returned Adelaide's smile. Wait until the food appeared. Kat expected better food since the school could afford the silverware and that stuff. Food always made people smile and she was right. Kat was always right.

A potential leader, over here. That seemed nice. "It is fun, but there's always duties and responsibilities that come along with them," Kat shared. Two terms of experience, you know. It had molded her into who she was now. "You get to lead your house with a fellow Prefect. That's my favourite part of it all." Except getting to ask students around. I mean, ahem.... nothing. Kat was a good prefect.

Kat didn't know what to describe this one. Whether he was just confused or really occupied with so many people to talk with, it was kind of like the same thing. Mordaunt. Heeeeeey, that's a familiar surname. "There used to be a Mordaunt who studied her in Hogwarts, but he graduated last term." Did he know him? They were probably relatives, same surname and house and all. "Yeah, you can always come and find me. Talk about stuff. Whatever." Kat was a good friend, which made her become a nice person to lean on too. Just not when she was really annoyed with things, then she'd be cranky.

HANG ON.

Was that the kid she met at the Diagon Alley Festival? Hmm? Kat squinted at the Sorting Ceremony in front, at the boy being sorted at this very moment. Positive. That was totally that Lucian kiddo who took a sip from her exploding lemonade at Diagon Alley this summer. She was sure of it.

And BOOM!applause from Kat because he got sorted into Slytherin. AWH YEAH. She was right from the very begin!

"Well, don't you look familiar?" Kat said and winked at him. Remember her? Do you? Hmmmmmmm? He better remember her. She was legen - wait for iiiiiiit - dary!

"I'm Sophie Newell, regular Slytherin," she said, giving her title, too.

Not so enthusiastic kid. Still not knowing what she was supposed to feel from this Start-of-Term feast, Kat had to forget about that. "The Sorting Hat placed you in the right house." She could tell, just by basing it from her first impressions. The first year looked familiar though, resembling someone Kat knew waaaaay before. But she wasn't sure who exactly, but she looked like someone. No lying.

Oh. Haha. Kid's got style. "Nice to meet you," Kat said... but she didn't agree with the 'regular Slytherin' part. "No Slytherin is just 'regular', you know." They were sorted into SLYTHERIN for a lot of good reasons. The Most Noble House of Slytherin, yeah.

What an observant Slytherin. The Sorting Hat must've thought twice whether to sort this one either in Slytherin or Ravenclaw. Those eagles, always observant and just out-Clawing themselves. Well, Kat shrugged. Slytherins can be as wise as Ravenclaws, you know. They were just cool and awesome like that.

... What's with the staring? Kat blinked once before thinking if she freaked the girl out. Maybe Kat was the one who got freaked out.

"Oh, you got sorted into the perfect house then," Kat smiled. See? The Sorting Hat was never wrong with its final decisions. Noble people with determination and resourcefulness and all that awesome skill. Slytherins were a mixture of many great traits. "Yeaaaah, I'm Prefect and Head Girl." Slytherin's female Prefect and Hogwarts' Head Girl, you know. Somehow the same idea. "But anyway, nice to meet you Nicci." Unique name.
