Before you can open the door to the observatory, a big line of multicolored turnstiles magically materializes out of thin air to effectively block your path. You cannot go around the turnstiles and using magic on them will not have the slightest effect. If you want to enter this room, you need to pay a flat fee of 6 sickles to get in every time you wish to come in. You insert the money in the little hole on top off one of the turnstiles. The turnstile will then unlock and will allow you to pass through and get into the observatory.
OOC: The turnstiles will be seen by everyone regardless of year, house, or age. You must make at least one post in here before posting elsewhere in the observatory this term. If you don't, watch your back.
The turnstiles do not restrict access to Flamsteed's office areas, the tower patch, the planetarium or the astronomy lab.
AND PLEASE NOTE: You CANNOT go around, under, over, etc. the turnstiles. Not only are the little bars physically blocking your path, but they also as a whole act as an invisible force field barring you from the observatory until you pay. Please cooperate with this portion of the plot or your posts WILL be deleted.
The seventh-year had seen a girl crawling about on the floor, so she assumed that was where the money was. Lilly grabbed some for herself and made her way towards the turnstiles.
After paying to get through, Lilly wasn't completely surprised to see the Slytherin Quidditch captain passed out on the floor. Stuff like this totally happened all the time at Hogwarts. Had someone gone to get help? She glanced at the younger girl next to him. She must have done something, right?

If there was a party, Cat was in. Mostly because parties had food and yummy food, at that. PARTY FOOD. She was always headed in the direction of the food. However, when she stopped at the turnstiles and took in the scene, she wondered what sort of party this was, anyway.
"What did you do to him?" She asked Alice all curious like, glancing at West. Had Alice thrown the jar at him? His face? Why was he still laying here, did no one know where to find the Healer?
Questions. Questions. Cat stood to the side with her hands in her pockets and glanced at Alice, obviously waiting for answers.

Ughh. He had to pay to get to the party? That was kind of annoying. He did not approve of that too much. But he did want to got to the party so he would pay. And obviously he had climbed up all of these stairs now, so he was going to be paying. Clement stopped by the turnstiles, and placed his six sickles in. There you go. All paid. And now he good go to the party. All was good.

....................... wait up, wasn't this thing supposed to be free? West couldn't SEE anything resembling money. There was a bit of a queue too apparently, people milling about moneyless...
Well he'd not brought any himself. Maybe they were somewhere he couldn't see? No harm trying, faster than going down to the common room for a few sickles anyways. The tall sixteen year old held his wand out and cast, "Accio sickles."

Frown settling onto her face, Charlie hurriedly began looking around for the sickles. Sickles that she needed to go and get a Professor to come and LOOK at the unconcious boy on the floor.
"HELP."
Someone come, please.

Alice didn't see any sickles, but as she neared the payment center, her feet began to make crunching noises, and she could feel the invisible coins under her shoes. The situation momentarily fazed the Gryffindor, but it didn't take long for her to start crawling around and feeling for the unseen money until she had a good handful of it.
"Revelio." Where were the rest of them? She started crawling around some more in search of a jar until she found it.
And an unconscious, bloody-faced West. Alice found that too.
Weird party.

The party had already started no doubt and Calista was running late! She had meant to be there early or even help Airey with the set-up but time had gotten away from her on the research she was working on and now here she was, rushing towards the Observatory, arms flailing about.
When she reached the turnstiles, she found that she wasn't there alone, there were a few students waiting. What was going on. "Hello everyone, going to the party or are we just going to wait down--?" She began as she tried to catch her breath, but before that was allowed she noticed a bloodied West lying on the floor.
"What in Merlin's Beard happened here?" He looked at Alice and the Moretti girl. "Did one of you two do this?" The blonde was NOT happy, she had planned to make a big deal of West at this party for his efforts for Hogwarts. The others could speak up too. She eyed each of them.
Almost in the same instant she'd shouted for help, the red head ran past Charlie, and she acknowledged her. Someone had gone to get a Professor, thank goodness. Until that Professor came, she didn't actually know what she should do. She shouldn't try to wake him, should she? Would her shout have been loud enough to have woken him anyway?
As more people arrived, Charlie heaved a little sigh of relief, hoping that now she wouldn't have the responsibility of not knowing how to look after the unconscious boy. She raised her eyes to the Professor, who wasn't the one that the other girl had gone in search for, because she'd come from the other direction. "I don't know," she frowned. "I came up here and he was hit. In the face. Then he fell." - unconscious"!- "I didn't see what hit him, either. But it wasn't them."
No, it hadn't been Cat other the other girl. It had looked like nothing had, but obviously something had. Hence it was invisible. Right?

What? Nope. Not this child. Cat took her hands out of her pockets and held them up, "I did nothing, professor. I just got here. I don't think Alice did anything either, but I don't know what happened."
Nope. She'd been wondering the same thing, though.
"I was just heading in the direction of the food." Cause... parties had food yes. Did Elwood know if there was food at this party? Cat didn't feel like it was proper to ask that question just now. Nope.
"I think someone went for the Healer." Or well, she hoped so, anyway. You couldn't just LEAVE a person on the ground like that, right?!

Mo was still shuffling up the stairs when the commotion started at the top, and by the time he made it there, there was a Cat looking puzzled, an Alice looking... on the floor, and a Professor Pretty just generally looking furious. Not to mention that West bleeding on the floor. Just what sort of party WAS this?
"He's bleeding," Mo offered helpfully, gesturing at West with his elbow. As in... someone be concerned, 'cause Mo wasn't supposed to be. "You want me to levitate him to the infirmary, Professor Pr... Elwood?"

So apparently there was a party up here for that quiz competition thing. Penelope hadn't really paid a whole lot of attention, to be honest, but she decided to come to the party anyway. Parties were usually fun at least, right? So it wouldn't hurt to go. Except for the turnstiles and the paying thing, which was annoying and there were a lot of people on this side of them...
...Blink. Was that West? "What happened?" Did someone hit him or something? Was she going to have to punch someone? Penelope needed to know.

Mischa was caught off guard when Karina tugged him towards the turnstiles. He could not deny it. He liked her holding his hand. It was funny how much their attitudes had changed towards each other. Mischa had never considered himself a friend to anyone buy Strom but here he was friends with Karina.
His eyes caught Vilhelm's whom he had not seen there. His hand Karina had released immediately fell to his side. "Yes, let's go.'' Mischa dropped the coins into the turnstile's slot and followed his school mates wishing he could hold Karina's hand.

A free party was always to be attended, always. Professor Airey's notice said it was free so NATURALLY the young Gryffindor left all her money up in her dorm. Nothing between the Common Room and the Observatory required payment of any kind, correct?
Lex arrived at the turnstiles and saw what looked like a gathering--waaaait...they weren't NOT paying because the party was OUTSIDE, right?? If that's the case she would'a just stayed up in her dorm and had her own candy party to celebrate kicking plant butt during the task but on an interesting note they were all looking at something...Odessa? Well what in merlin's beard was he doing down there? The turnstiles didn't pity people, playing dead would get him nowhere.
Just beneath her feet she could feel what might have been money? Galleons? Sickles? SOMETHING. This was all real curious. "Soooo..." She said, walking closer to the lot of them..."Are we all without money...or just trying to fight the system? If so I recommend Expulso, it usually does the trick. We'll need a couple people casting shield charms at the same time though because those things have been known to fight back."

Since he had missed going into Hogsmeade, Michael decided that he might as well go to Airey's party. And with that man hosting it, he was sure that it would be a riot.
As he stepped onto the landing, he was quite surprised to find a bunch of people standing around. Was the party out here? Weird place for it. As he got closer though and pushed his way through the crowd, he saw why everyone was hanging around. "That's unfortunate." It also meant that while everyone was standing around there would be more food for him inside.
So with a sympathetic look at the boy on the floor, Mikey headed for the door. He placed six sickles into the turnstile and walked on through.

Still tense, the Ravenclaw Head of House looked at the girls standing around the unconscious West. Callie didn't pretend to know too much about the personal lives of her students, especially when it came to romance but something told her that the young Slytherin had been in his share of spats with the opposite sex so her first response to seeing him lying on the ground, bloodied beside Miss Moretti and Miss Fischer really was pretty logical.
"You didn't do anything to him?" She asked the other Slytherin, the one that may or may not have been dating her Captain--Merlin only knew. Alice hadn't spoken but she had always seemed, to the blonde, to like West and not be too suspect of hitting him she liked to bite though, right?. Charlotta though spoke up and apparently was the only one to see what had happened. "Something invisible hit him? Do you mean like a ghost?" She didn't think any of the Hogwarts ghosts had anything against Mr. Odessa but perhaps it was something else. "Could it have been a jinx or a hex? Are you sure there wasn't anyone else here?" The Claw couldn't have saw things right, nothing just punches someone out of thin air.

Three other students had arrived now for the party and we just creating an odd scene where they were all staring at West's body lying on the Ground. Professor Elwood stooped down and rested her weight on her knees and began to fan the boy. She didn't trust herself to do any healing spells and besides someone said they'd fetched the Healer. "Well I'm guessing none of you sent her a patronus so I'll go ahead and do that." She pulled her wand out of a spot on her back where it had been sticking out of her over-belt and swished it, "Expecto Patronum." A silvery snow fox scurried away.
Marcus Branxton offered to take him to the Hospital Wing but she waved him off before returning to fan West. "Thank you Mr. Branxton but I just sent a Patronus for Healer Tillstorm. And Miss Greenwell, we aren't exactly sure. Miss Czesanka says something invisible hit him in the face before he was able to pass through the turnstiles."
The third person to join their group was Alexa who was currently trying to rally the others into fighting the turnstiles who she believed had something to do with this whole mess and were refusing to let them in. "Miss Cambridge I'm not going to allow you to besiege the turnstiles. As much as we all dislike them, they are school property." She rummaged in her pocket and pulled out EIGHT sickles. "I only have enough for one person to enter, whoever that is can go tell Professor Flamsteed what happened, let him know West is fine and I'm taking care of it, and to please send down more sickles so the guests can enter. The rest of you can go too, but you'll unfortunately will have to pay unless you wait."
HPMF! She was supposed to be up there bragging and spoiling all of the Hogwarts winners.

Coming out of the Observatory with two cupcakes in hand, Airey's jaw dropped when he saw the crowd that had gathered. He was also just in time to hear Calista, hi there!, say something about paying?
Right. Priorities.
"Is Mr. Odessa alright?" he asked. "I...er...brought him a cupcake." Cue looks namely at Calista for an answer there. "And what is this about paying? I made sure that the announcement was very clear that I had placed a jar of coins for party goers to use right over there," he continued while pointing to the spot where the jar of coins labeled 'property of Professor Flamsteed' had been.
.............................
"Alright...what happened to the jar?" Now he was looking at students. Only they had the creative minds to come up with a prank like this. Pity he hadn't thought of it first.

Speaking of Airey....
Calista stood up abruptly when the blonde man appeared. West was already passed out fanning him really wouldn't do much more good AND the Healer was on her way hopefully. She pushed some of her hair back into place and smiled at him. He was obviously very concerned about Mr. Odessa, like herself. "Oh I think he's going to be okay. The students say that he was hit by something invisible and it knocked him unconscious. Very strange but I don't think it will have him out of commission for too long; Healer Tillstorm should be able to fix him right up."
"The paying is because you either didn't actually leave a jar of money here or someone took or hid it. It was not here when I arrived and that was the reason a few of the kids here, were already standing with West." But yeah, they could take care of this. Surely Airey had another pile of Sickles he could set out, she had some too in her office if they needed them.
But look how sweet! "You brought me a cupcake though?" Callie took the iced treat that wasn't in the hand that he had indicated was the Slytherin boy's and took a bite. She got a bit of icing on the tip of her nose but wiped it off with her pinky. "Thanks Airey."

By something...invisible? Out of all the lame excuses to cover up one's folly that certainly had to take the cake. Airey looked around the area for a Beater's bat or anything that could have been used to smack Mr. Odessa in the face, but naturally found nothing. Either there actually was some truth to the story or someone was really good at covering their tracks.
And Cece was totally going to blame him for this somehow. He could feel it in his stardust.
Airey squinted at Calista. "I may be a few things, but I am not forgetful nor a liar," he said while still pointing to the jar of coins. Or where it SHOULD have been. "I put a jar right over there before I went in myself. Students in the Observatory now used sickles from the jar to get in." So someone had hidden it and...hold on. The astronomer's eyes moved to Mr. Odessa and the gears began to turn in his brain.
Invisible thing. Slytherin down. Jar missing....
But then Calista interrupted his train of thought by taking HIS cupcake and EATING it right in front of him. Sweet solstice she could be beautifully infuriating at times. "You're....welcome," he grumbled under his breath.

Adelaide followed Flamsteed to notice that there were a lot more people crowded around the entrance now. Mostly because the coins seemed to be missing which everyone was baffled by.
She had completely disregarded the fact that there supposed to be coins for them to use. She'd just automatically used to paying for the turnstiles herself at this point. Yeah the healer could fix him, if she was around. Adelaide stood there, waiting.

It was hard to pay attention to what was important. Like West bleeding from his face... or Professor Pretty taking a cupcake from Flamsteed. She shouldn't be taking cupcakes from him! Cupcakes were a sign of affection, and if Mo had cupcakes, he'd give them ALL to her, and Flamsteed just looked annoyed. Didn't she see that Astronomy professors and Divination professors were like birds and fish? No middle ground. That's all. No. Middle. Ground.
Mo gave Flamsteed a hard look before reaching out and grabbing up Cat's hand. His Cat. She'd take cupcakes from people who meant them in the right spirit... namely from Mo. "Let's get out of the way here. I'll pay for you." He had money enough to cover them both, and Mo dropped them into the turnstile before sliding through.

Hmph.
............"Okay." Cat allowed her hand to be grabbed and her person to be tugged, and followed along behind Mo like a duckling. Through the turnstiles and away off to the party thing they GO. "They have cupcakes." She whispered to him with a BIG GRIN on her face. Then she shooed him along. Let's go. Cupcakes await.
Oh, and Cat waved at Charlie before she left. COME GET CUPCAKES, CHARLIE.
"I'm not sure," Charlie started, tilting her head to the side and trying to remember if there had been any distinguishing features of the object. But there hadn't been. There hadn't been an object to see. "I don't... Can ghosts produce such a force, Professor?" She'd never considered that before - she'd only watched the ones at Hogwarts slide through the walls. "Possibly... I mean, I didn't see any light, or hear anything, but maybe a good non-verbal spell, I could have missed that. And I saw some people go through but, they were gone when he fell." She eyed her Head of House, genuinely intrigued as to what could have happened.
And worried about the boy on the floor. That, too.
A Patronus? No, Charlie hadn't done that, because she didn't know how to produce a Patronus yet. It would have been interesting to see what hers was, though... anyway.
The jar? Yeah, that was gone.
Charlie dug around a little in her pocket, pulling out the required sickles, and made a mental note to ask her dad for more money at Christmas. With a worried backwards glance at the Chaser, she grinned at Cat, and followed her through the turnstiles. He wouldn't want so many people surrounding him when he woke up.

Most of the students who had been waiting to see what happened to West had decided to just pay their own way and had already left through the turnstiles to join the party upstairs. Callie was chewing another bite of the cupcake present from Airey when the Slytherin boy began to stir.
She pointed at Alice, Adelaide, and the other remaining students. "You all can go ahead and head on up, I'm sure Professor Flamsteed has some coins you may use?" She looked at Airey as she approached West once more and knelt down beside him.
"Mr. Odessa are you alright? Don't rush yourself the Healer should be here any minute." She placed the half eaten cupcake on the boy's stomach, on a patch of un-bloodied fabric. As she moved though she felt something odd scrape between her knee and the floor. She couldn't see what it was but it hurt.
She lifted that knee and didn't see anything. "Ouch, Airey I think there is something on the floor."

He shook his head at the Ravenclaw. "No, Miss Czesanka they cannot. Ghosts can create disturbances in water, fire, and air but they cannot otherwise physically punch a student in the face. They will pass right through." Not that Airey could imagine any of the ghosts residing within Hogwarts doing such a thing to students. "Poltergeists are another story but if Peeves had been anywhere near here, trust me, we all would have heard him."
Coins? Er...he probably had something in his pockets. No lint in them for sure...He had placed nearly all sickles he had in that jar. Foolishly considering how things had turned out, but in the jar nonetheless. "I've got some he---"
SOMETHING ON THE FLOOR? "Rubbish, the floors here are always clean," he said as he made his way closer to Calista and saw...nothing. "Um...I hate to break this to you, but there is nothing there," he said as he knelt down and felt the floor. His hand brushed against something and he could just make out a soft scraping noise that sounded like metal against stone. "What in Orion's belt...." Wand out now, Airey pointed it to his hand where he had picked up the object of the floor and cast Revelio at it before showing the Divination professor what was in his hand.

Aww... what.
What.
Blink.
Groan.
What?
Why were there professors all up in his face?
... why did said face feel like it had copped a Bludger?
But hey, there was half a cupcake on his stomach. West eyed it and decided that, given he wasn't a plate, it was in the wrong place. Supposed to be inside the stomach, not outside. So he ate it.
That was sort of automatic on account of it was food and he was West Odessa.
Now, about these professors and his throbbing face...?
"What happened?"

Okay. West was awake. Good. Adelaide let out a sigh of relief once he stared stirring. She just wanted to know what was going on. And how was she supposed to go back to the party? One of her friends had just been unconscious seconds ago.
...and then West ate the cupcake. She managed to hold back a giggle. Leave it to him to eat a cupcake after being knocked unconscious. She bite her lip and looked back at Odessa lying on the floor. With a sigh she decided to join the party. She'd done her part, besides, West seemed perfectly all right to her. Addi headed back inside wondering who else was around...
Super Slytherin Buddy - ⅓ She-Snake Trio || EVIL Healer
Healer Tillstorm was very content sitting in her office thinking about Waylon reading a book and not going to that little party Professor Flamsteed was throwing in the Observatory. She didn't see any need for her to be there. It wasn't like anyone was going to get hurt with his little muggle games he had planned for them.
She had just gotten herself comfy, or as comfy as she could get on the ridiculous furniture she had, when a patronus appeared in front of her. Hearing the message she didn't evenhave to think twice about dropping her book, grabbing a few things she might need and running up to the seventh floor. There was a student that needed her attention, and not just any student either. A Slytherin student.
As she approached the observatory she seen a crowd that she had no problem pushing her way through. She had a snake to save after all.
Spotting Professor Flamsteed she gave him a look. "Just what kind of party are you throwing here Flamsteed?" She didn't wait for him to answer though as she knelt down beside West. "What happened West? Who did this to you?" Whoever did this was going to have to deal with a very angry healer.
