Post 4 SPOILER!!: Rhodes Rhodes Merivel was one spoiled brat!! The Toussaints had oodles of money. Michael had never in his life gone without anything but he didn't take anything for granted either. He would in no way destroy something on purpose and then just shrug it off because he knew that he could get another one. "How about you just look after the one you already have." And he pulled a face at her while she glared at him. They were never going to get this homework finished. "Fine by me." Only it wasn't, because he had never really tried the fire charm before. And he could cause a lot more damage than doing the water charm. As Rhodes prepared herself to do the charm, Michael moved a little closer so that he could watch what she did. Not that he would admit that's what he was doing. And of course it backfired on him. The Slytherin did manage to do the water charm. Only most of the water landed on HIM instead of inside the cauldron. "Nice work Merivel." He glared at her. "NOT!" He gave his hair a shake and hoped that he sprayed her with water before he moved around to the other side of the bench and pointed his wand underneath the cauldron. He also took a deep breath before speaking the incantation. "Incendio." He said, although his voice wavered a little from nerves and only a couple sparks emitted from his wand. He cleared his throat and refused to look at Rhodes as he tried a second time. "INCENDIO." This time he said it with a lot more force and a stream of flames shot out from his wand, straight across the table and straight towards the Slytherin first year. |
post 3 Sarah then took her wand and "incendio" she casted with it. The flame danced and soon the blood inside the cauldron began to boil. It was like a litery phrase, blood boiling. That usually happened when someone was angry though and Sarah was not angry then. Then she realised that she should add water, it may dilute the blood yet she needed more and as it is the blood was only there for lflavour. She reached for her wand again, "argumenti" she said and the water jetted out into the cauldron. The blood did not boil as much as the coldness of the water made it stop being at boiling point and it just waited. Sarah let the water flow until the point it was usually filled to as a base. "finite" she casted finally and she peered inside. It looked only slightly less red. After some time of peace the brew began to boil again and Sarah took it as a sign to move on. |

She took the phial and filled it just after he did. "Sounds like a plan!" She raised her phial. "Here's to hoping she feels sorry for us and gives us candy if we really do end up having to see her." Lex had a feeling these wouldn't taste all that great, candy would definitely be helpful--oh, see that? Mo gagging right there, this stuff wouldn't go down easy. She took a swig of the stuff then another, just as she thought, nothing good. "Ugh, we should add sugar next time, improve the taste. How will we even know if this works? Do I wait for you to pass out or something to assume we didn't just drink our own deaths...?" |
Post #4 Text Cut: Ethan! The nod. It meant that he understood, right? And that Alec wasn't confusing the older boy? ... Awesome! Because the last thing they needed were two confused boys trying to make a potion. Depending... "Well, I guess... if it won't affect the potion too much then it'll be okay?" he said, reaching up a hand to ruffle his hair. Potions was confusing sometimes. Yep. Especially all of this 'make your own potion from the ingredients you've collected' thing. Which actually made him even more glad that he had Ethan to work with on this. ... GRIN. "Yeah, we did!" he said, looking back over at the potions ingredients again, "And they'll work well together too, right? I mean... they're not those type of ingredients that are completely opposite and shouldn't be used in the same potion... yeah?" Because the last thing he wanted to do was blow up Lafay's classroom. They'd probably have to leave the country if that happened. Nodnod. Good point. Alec liked the sound of that. And speaking of good points, Ethan was making even more good points! "That sounds awesome! Like... like a way of shrinking away bruises? That ties in all our ingredients really well!" he said, grinning really widely, "Yeah! Erm... like burn healing paste! And... you can create ointments in a Potion-ey way, right?" This was probably the benefits of working with a Ravenclaw. Or anyone who was smart. Or just... anyone. He would have never been able to come up with these ideas on his own. "Water and flobberworm mucus..." Nodnod. "Oh... do you need help cutting either one of them up?" Although... he wasn't great at Herbology so maybe Ethan should be one to do it. And he could do the adding part. Like with the flobberworm mucus. "And we could always add more flobberworm mucus if the potion gets too runny?" Hopefully they had enough, yeah? "But I think that sounds really awesome!" Look at them, having a plan already! GRIN. ... Woah. Alec BLINKED as Ethan did something and... the cauldron became cleaner. And now he was making water come out of his wand too! It was only a trickle at first but... "You know how to cast non-verbal spells?" GRIN. ... Oh. Maybe he should be doing something too. "Yeah, and then it'll turn green, right?" The Hufflepuff hastily made a small note in his journal before looking back over at the ingredients again. "Oh hey! Erm... so it'll be flobberworm mucus and then the daisy roots? Are we going in order of importance?" Is that how these things were made...? "If so... maybe the chocolate frog can be added in last? For the flavour and jumping qualities?" Text Cut: Journal! |
Post 3 SPOILER!!: Sophie Sophie's positivity was going to come in handy during this, Ella just knew it. It was hard to be completely stressed out when the brunette was all smiley and enthusiastic. Awesome best friend was awesome like that, okay? "I know I do. I'm quite smart, y'know." So having good points was kind of a given. Heh. "Sureeeee." BROWS. "They are cool but I'm pretty sure you're a fan for other reasons." GRIN. Yup, Modred reasons. Where was hair boy these days, anyway? Wasn't he sort of a pro at this potioning thing? Sheesh, Mordy, help your friends out! The blonde was going to track him down and whine about this later. That was a definite plan. Anywhoo...enough teasing Sophie. It was time to get down to business. "Soph!" Bounce. "You're a genius! A potion that helps you relax your mind and take in more information!" GRIN. "Do you know how useful this would be for OWLs studying?" EXTREMELY useful. "You're brilliant, y'know." And Ella was just a tad excited about this, yeah? Only a little though... "Yup, water first." Ella was scribbling notes as she listened to her friend, only looking up to check the amount of water she'd added. "Well, it's just about to the brim so I think that's probably good." Nodnod. Ella had seen that amount of water used loads before so it seemed accurate. Picking up her own wand, the blonde pointed it at the burner and said, "Incendio!" Ta-da! Burner was lit. "What about...the Jobberknoll feathers next? I've got two and those are used in memory potions...y'know what with the Jobberknolls remembering all kinds of sounds and stuff." Thoughts, bestie? Hmmm? SPOILER!!: ”Journal” |
#3 Text Cut: Ella! Sophie laughed at Ella's remark about her own intelligence. "'Course you are." She said, still chuckling. The chuckle became a giggle as soon as the blonde got it just right about Sophie and dragons. "I have no idea what you are talking about." The Hufflepuff tried to pull a poker face, but failed, going back to giggling. Truth be told, she had never cared that much about dragons, but HE did and that was important. "He does have a good taste, you know." JUSTSAYIN'. Giggle!Grin. "And I do too." Cough cough caaaaaaaaaaaaaawgh. "I did choose the best, yeah?" Yeah. Totally. Another giggle!grin. Merlin, Sophie could go on about him all day. Excuse her. Yaaaay, time for Sophie to claim the intelligence-ness. "We aaaaare brain twins after all!" Heeeeeh! Smooth! But nuuuu! "Urgh, don't even tell me about OWLs... those and Mordred's NEWTs are not making me happy." Alriight, Sophie was proud that he wanted to be an Auror/Dragon...Lord(?????????)/other big important career. But the fact that he locked himself away from everyone to study for Merlin knows how long... meeeeh. She wanted more time with him. But whatevs, Potions time. "Exactly! This Potion would be useful for us aaaand we could test it ourselves!" And just hope they didn't die. "Luckily none of us got any sort of poisonous ingredient!" That would've been way more complicated, huh? "Why, thank you." Sophie tossed her hair to the side in a fake snobbish hair flip. Grin! ...Hehehe, Ella was right. If they put any more water in the cauldron it would overflow. They didn't want that happening! The castle was a mess as it was already! The brunette watched her friend light the fire underneath her cauldron and smiled. Lovelyyyy team work, right there. "Jobberknoll feathers sound good!" Sophie gestured to her friend to drop both feathers in the cauldron in front of them. "Maybe we should let it simmer a bit, so the memory properties can really sink in?" It kind of made sense in her head. "And after about... 5 minutes we could add lavender, so it will also simmer a bit and get the best out of the... petals?" Or something. Did that make sense? The fifth year flipped through the book again to check on the process of simmering Potions and to see if she found any specifications on simmering those ingredients in particular. Also, after placing the wooden spoon inside the cauldron, Sophie waved her wand and nonverbally made the spoon move by itself, stirring the mixture slowly as it simmered. Because, you know... brains were always active and... stuff. Made sense! Sort of. |
Post 5 SPOILER!!: Eliza Minerva thought of what Eliza was saying, [b] “You know that’s a great idea. Maybe if we decide this potion need to sit, then we could run and get some peppermint or something. I have gum in my trunk if that might work for taste as well, if not then maybe we can just deal with it or maybe someone in here might have some candy or something to help.”[b] She hoped at least or hopefully it would just be alright without something. Nodding Minerva agreed, “Yeah I like the steps we are taking as well. This is actually kind of fun. I’ve always liked potions, but to just make one myself is kind of scary, so I’m glad to be forced to try.” Since she was thinking of being a healer trying out different potions might be something that could help her in her profession, so if she did alright with this, maybe she wouldn’t be to afraid to experiment more. Giving Eliza the reigns again she watched and listened. Nodding with the unity that was the way Minerva was thinking, so it was good to be on the same page. A unity with nature, could it possibly give her a unity with creepy dangerous plants so she could be braver around them for her plant loving boyfriend. She would love that if it could. “Oh reducing the flames was probably a great idea. We don’t want the potion to hot or it could ruin the ingredients already in it. Good thinking Eliza.” Scrunching her nose as she watched Eliza drop the leeches in. At least they didn’t have to take the blood or juice or whatever out of them. This was not as nearly as gross. Thinking about the time, Minerva looked at the time. “ As we let it set we can figure out the rest of the potion. We have the chocolate bar and the salt. So I think if we put the entire chocolate bar in then that should help for the taste and the salt for absorption should probably just be a pinch.” She looked at Eliza to see if she felt the same way. “Then lastly is the spell, now I remember one that I had saw in a book. It was about nature, so it might work. The wand movement is a circle so I would say do the circle over the cauldron then the words are fac mater natura, which literally means make me mother nature, so isn’t that what we are trying for.. well sort of?” Looking at the time three minutes had went by, “Alright I’m going to go ahead and put the chocolate bar in.” Unwrapping the heresy chocolate bar and chuckled, “Guess it was a good thing I keep my muggle candy in my trunk.” Once she was finished unwrapping it, Min placed it carefully into the cauldron and it started melting instantly. “Now for the pinch of salt” Minerva took the salt and sprinkled it in. “Now I think all we need is to stir it clockwise again, umm maybe four times and the spell. Would you like to do these?” SPOILER!!: Notes |
post 4! I think.. I give up XD SPOILER!!: Miiiiichael Pfft. Just look after the one she already has? Where was the fun in that!? Not that Rhodes wanted another wand, of course, she only had this one for a small amount of time and she had grown quite fond of it, but she didn't think she was going to do anything wrong to it by scraping the sides of the cauldron with it. Besides, if it broke, it wouldn't be her fault, nope. It would have been the lousy wandmaker's fault for not making it good enough! She gave another roll of her eyes and had to resist the urge to poke his out at the look he gave her. Why had she decided to work with him again? Oh, right. Because she hardly knew any spells and she could just make him do all the work so no one had to know. Which seemed to be working since he had agreed to light the fire. Rhodes gave a simple nod of her head, so she wouldn't lose her concentration with filling the cauldron up with water, only to lose it anyway as Michael yelled. She took a rather large heaving breath as she placed her wand back down onto their table and turned around.. just to be splashed in the face with water from his hair. Seeing him like that, all wet because of her, would have been funny, it really would have been, if it wasn't for the fact that he had wet her too. "It looks like you wet yourself." So, maybe it was still funny. "And not the kind of wet you get from water." Bwaha! Did she need to explain? She used the sleeve of her robes to wipe off her face, and as Michael moved around the table, she leaned forward and rested her chin in her hands so she could watch him light the burner. A smallish laugh left her mouth at his first try, pfft, she was so much better than him, but it only turned into a squeal as the BIGGEST, most FIERIEST FIREBALL shot right towards her face. She only had about a second to turn away from the FIRE, and rolling off of her stool and onto the floor, had her realizing that she was about half a second too late. Her hands were already rubbing at the spot where the FIRE had HIT her, or just the heat of the flames hit her, she may have been being dramatic, and another squeal left her mouth as she felt.. nothing. "MICHAEL TOUSSAINT! I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!" As soon as her eyebrows grew back. |

Anywaaaaaaay. "The kind of potion we will be making......" Dun dun dun. "....is a healing concoction." But it had something to it that was different from the other healing potions out there. She watched as the younger girl preparing their materials as she continued talking. "Basically, it should give the drinker ability to heal his own wounds and cuts in a blink of an eye.....BUT..." Here comes the other part. "Because we have unicorn parts and jobberknoll feathers, I think this healing ability can be controlled by the mind although it might probably have a time limit to how long the drinker can have that ability." An hour, perhaps? Since gillyweed was involved? That...was what she theorized, anyway. She fished out a parchment from her bag and handed it out to Mika when the girl asked what it is she wanted her to do. The parchment was filled with the POSSIBLE procedure for this concoction, with random notes at the sides because she tended to use the one parchment for the research she conducted. "See this list?" She pointed out the numbered ones. "This is the steps I've revised and if you don't have any objections to it, I think we can start." The cauldron has been scourgified but Beezus went ahead and repeated the charm for good measure. Then they'd have to fill it with water and add the unicorn parts and let it boil while they grind the jobberknoll feathers. Sooooooo...how about this plan, Mika? |
Post 5 SPOILER!!: The dramatic Slytherin with no eyebrows Not only was Rhodes a spoiled brat, a dumb bum, she was also totally immature. Michael was too, but he wasn't about to admit that to her. Not in a million years. He rolled his eyes at her. "You're such an idiot Merivel." Wait till it was his turn with the water charm. Michael thought the flames that shot out of his wand were totally awesome. She didn't get the water to shoot out of her wand like that. before he could start celebrating his success though, Rhodes' squeal of terror and her disappearing from view had Mikey thinking he had killed her. His heart jumped into his throat and he sprinted around the workbench to see what had happened and just as got to the other side, he heard Merivel's yell out. Well thank Merlin, she was alright. Not that he cared about her or anything, he just didn't want to be carted off to Azkaban for burning alive a fellow student. "Oh stop being a drama queen." He hadn't noticed her missing eyebrows yet. "It barely even touched you." GIRLS!! They were so ANNOYING. |
post 4 Whar should sh eadd next? The fangs of the toadstools? Sarah decided to add them, yet she wondered in what form they form must they be in. Another type of fangs, snake fangs were crushed with a mortor and pestle so maybe she should do that. She took out the mortor and pestle and cast the cleaning charm on it. Then she took the fangs and placed them in the motor. With the pestle in her hand she began to crush them. It was hard at first to break off bpieces yet as the pieces gor smaller it became easier. Her hands began to hurt as she crushed and banged and charged at the fang bits. She then looked inside, each grain was now the size of a pebble which meant that more crushing was in order. She kept on crushing and soon it was all in fine powder. She put the pestle aside and with her gloved hand began to sprinkle the powder into the brew, stirring occasionally with her other hand. It was tedious to do it that way and Sarah wondered if she could not just dump it all in at once. She did not want to take the risk though. Finally the moror was empty and the powder was well mixed in. Now she had a healing potion. |

Post 7 SPOILER!!: Daichi The young girl was relieved that Daichi was not angry with her but didn’t showed it to him, or at last, she tried to not show it him. She hated it to look vulnerable so she tried to look strong. “Thanks” said Sonea in a whisper, she didn’t wanted that anybody else would hear about her mistakes and that she had made her excuse. She looked around her, worried of somebody had watched them and had seen all the faults she had made. But now that Sonea turned her attention back to the older boy she wondered why he was so friendly, all the other male Slytherins were… Different… Not that she had problems with it, it was a good thing that she was friends with Daichi, having a friend with influence was always good, she only needed to do her best to not scare him away from her because she had been acting so stupid with this potion… “DaiSon is a good name and I’m sure that you will like it!” Smiled Sonea bright. Her smile faded away when he started to talk about a Muggle tool, she had really no idea where he was talking about, she now knew what a vacuum cleaner was, she had learned it here at Hogwarts, but what was a Dyson? Was that also a vacuum cleaner, but than for water or something? She didn’t knew what the name Dyson meant… But she didn’t asked about it, she didn’t liked it to talk about the Muggles now, she had already learned enough strange things about them during the Muggle lesson! A few minutes later, when she had called Daichi because the potion had chanced he walked toward her and looked inside the cauldron. He saw the same thing as Sonea and that was that the potion now not only was black and smelling, but it started to boil now too! The young girl just wanted to turn around and ask Daichi what was happening and what they needed to do now when he suddenly grabbed her by her robe and shouted, "GET DOWN!" The young girl shrieked when she fall to the ground next to Daichi when the potion exploded! She covered her head with her arms and luckily she was not hurt. “I’m okay!” Yelled Sonea while she immediately checked if her pink hair ribbon was still clean and if her hair was okay. “Am I in trouble now?” Muttered Sonea to herself. She was sure that it was her fault that the potion had exploded… |
Post 4 SPOILER!!: Sophie! Ella was just staring at Sophie. Staring and giving her friend a knowing look. There was a smirk too, for reasons. See? She'd been getting really good at the whole smirking thing. Mordy would be proud, yeah? Dylish too. Huh. Snakes sure did smirk the best, didn't they? "Whatever you sayyyyy, Soph!" Grin. Grin. Grin. "You're lucky to have such an intelligent brain twin!" Cause that complimented her own brain so well, huh? "He's been really busy lately, yeah?" She said with a frown, knowing how upset Sophie must be not to be able to spend time with him. "I bet he misses you, y'know. You're very missable." And she beamed at her friend before scanning the text book for some information about the cinnamon she'd gathered. How much would they need, anyway? "Yeah!...I hope it doesn't taste too horrible." She said seriously as she glanced up from the text. "Do you actually think anyone did go for poisonous ingredients?" BLINK. That was a scary thought! Jobberknoll feathers were a go, then? Ella nodded and dropped them in, listening as she worked. "Yeah, I think letting them simmer is a good idea. Maybe that'll better get out all their natural erm...juices or whatever." And Lavender next? Ella tilted her head and eyed the amount Sophie had gathered. "I think we should only add a few of the petals, yeah? Maybe like..." One didn't want to be so relaxed that they fell asleep or something, right? "How about 4? Gran has cooked with Lavender before and she says a little bit goes a long way so...we don't want to overdo it." Scribble. Scribble. Scribble. ... When five minutes was up, Ella added in the 4 Lavender petals and bit her lip. "Simmer for two minutes?" Like she said, they were pretty strong. They probably didn't need as long to simmer. "What are your thoughts on the salt and cinnamon?" Because those were what she was eyeing next. SPOILER!!: ”Journal” |
post 8 (last) SPOILER!!: Sonea When the cauldron stopped rolling and hit a leg from one of the working spaces, Daichi checked if Sonea , who lay in cover beside him, was okay and when she said she was he let out the relieved breath he hadn't even realized he had been holding in. He did hear her muttering though since he was close by her and he smiled a little. "It's not your fault" he said. Well, technically it was but he wasn't going to say that to a twelve year old. He wasn't heartless. "I've exploded a few cauldrons when i was younger, it's all part of the learning process. Atleast now you know what NOT to do , right?" he asked as he motioned to the mess they had made. "We should clean this up... do you have potion on you?" He got up from the floor and grabbed his wand. "The Tergeo spell is a cleaning spell that sucks up liquid...like a potion" he said and waved his wand at his own clothes and said. "Tergeo!" It was luckily an easy to do spell so it didn't take long until his clothes were clean. "If you clean the mess on the desk and make sure the notes are not damaged i will clean up the floor and cauldron" He then turned and walked in front of the desk. He crouched down so that his wand was closer to the potion on the stone floor and he sighed again. "Tergeo" he said and watched how the liquid got sucked up in to the wand before it vanished. He did the same with the cauldron that lay on its side and with an added "Scourgify" for good measure he picked the cauldron up with his still gloved hands. AWW, there was a crack on the side of the cauldron. Must have happened when it fell off the table... He knew how to do the repairing spell since it was teached in everyones first year so he wanted Sonea to do it. So she had credit for cleaning and repairing things as well plus it would help her learn. "Hey Sonea, you know the Reparo charm right? cast it on the cauldron, i'm sure you can do it" he smiled. He sat the cauldron on the table and waited for her so that they could leave the classroom. |
post 3? Quote:
Okay she was excited to say the least. Healing concoctions were probably really useful this term. Since the healer had lessened her hours – which was crazy. Now you had to get up and have to look at her timetable and schedule whether to injure yourself that day or not (and scheduling injuries was practically nutty). “Alright,” she nodded, “this sounds like a good plan” she beamed over at the older girl. She quickly began to arrange the ingredients in accordance to Beezus’ notes, since well, it was easier that way. “Alright, I’ll fill her up” she nodded and pointed her wand into the cauldron as she cast aguamenti as easily as she could trying to think the spell. It worked. The cauldron filled with water. She was beaming yeah. Cause she had made the cauldron fill with water so well. Pointing her wand below the cauldron she made sure to set the flame so it was low and steady – so the unicorn parts would be able to boil easily. “Alright lets get the unicorn parts in there and begin working on the jobberknoll feathers” she beamed and began to add in first the unicorn dung – as it was listed in the notes (luckily it smelled much better than mountain troll), and also the other unicorn parts. Letting them come to an even boil. |

In a good way. But how would they be able to tell if it was working? Well. Mo glanced at Lex, an oddly mulish expression crossing his features. Why SHOULDN'T it work? "It works. It works because I know it works. You should trust me, on account of I'm trustworthy." |
Post 8 Quote:
With this she snatched the phial right back and pulled the cauldron towards her. "I helped make this thing and I say we're adding sugar then trying again." GOT IT??? Lex gave him a somewhat incredulous look, one eyebrow now raised questioningly. "Who died and made you king of potions? It doesn't have to work just 'cause you said it will. For all you know we could be suffering from a very slow poison, ever thought of that?" No he didn't because he was too busy spouting rubbish. "We should just wait until a decision needs to be made then we see how strong our resolve is, now we'll do it my way so pick a colour." Don't ask how it made sense, just do what she said, yeah? |
Post 3. SPOILER!!: McFeisty Unicorn parts. Right. Merlin, her younger Ravenclaw was quick. She waited for Mika to move aside before adding in the strands of unicorn tail hair which she had collected herself. She referred to her parchment AGAIN before moving on. Hmm. "Can you grind the jobberknoll feathers while I dilute the bubotuber pus?" The mortar and pestle was gently pushed to the girl's side whilst she grabbed a basin and some measuring cups for the dilution. This was rather neat. With the two of them working together, things were definitely going to run quicker. She wasn't good with Potions. Heck, she was terrible at potions but when people around you were encouraging enough, you begin to develop confidence yourself. Her mother had also taken the time to teach her what she knew during the summer, so Beezus was pretty confident that they were doing the correct things and procedure for this healing potion. SPOILER!!: Parchment! |
SPOILER!!: Bee<3 Mika nodded and moved over to where she had set up the mortar and pestle when Bee asked her to grind the feather and dilute the puss. Mika loved potions really – she loved every aspect of it. Grinding things, chopping things, even squeezing oozing goop out of things. Though that was her least favorite thing about potions. The goop and the squeezing was just, gross sometimes. She plucked the feather out of the jar it was sitting in and carefully placed it into the mortar and began to grind it. grind.scrape.grind.scrape.griiiiind. there, it was refined into a nice powder. She placed the powdered leaves by the cauldron and carefully sprinkled the it over the cauldron. Glancing at the notes she just smiled. They were already heading onto the fourth step. This was great – yeah? Because that meant their potion wouldn’t take too long to be made…and well, maybe they could test it on people. If someone was hurt that is – have them smell it and feel better yeah, that sounded like a good idea to her. |
Quote:
Hmph. And leave him alone. Mo marched to the front of the room and slapped the phial on the desktop. There. It was turned in and Lex wouldn't dare to un-turn it in just to add sugar. Mo glanced over his shoulder and stuck his tongue out at her. "We're done." |
Post 4. SPOILER!!: McFeisty The dilution of the bubotuber pus. If it went undiluted, it can cause painful, large, yellow boils to form immediately on the skin so before she mixed it with the water and flobberworm mucus, she pulled out her own pair of dragonhide gloves from her bag and slipped them on. When it was secured, she pulled a cup in front of her, "Aguamenti." She muttered and water spurted out from the tip of her wand. When it filled about half of the cup, she flicked her wand to stop and with a small grin, holstered it back in place. She poured the liquid into the basin to avoid spillage. Next, Beezus grabbed the vial of flobberworm mucus, shot Mika a quick glance to found out that she was still grinding. With a nod, she added in 7 drops of the mucus into the water. Drop. Drop. Drop. Drop. Drop. Drop. Drop. Grabbing a stirring rod, she wiped her forehead with the back of her other hand. Merlin, it was getting hot inside this classroom what with all her peers' cauldrons with fire as much as theirs. But that wasn't really the time to complain now, was it? She used the rod to stir the mixture on the basin, siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiix times in a clockwise direction. Finally, the trickier part. Beezus corked open the vial filled with bubotuber pus and scrunched her nose at the smell. Petrol. Ugh. With that, she carefully poured the contents of the vial into the water and flobberworm mucus mixture. VERY CAREFUUUUL. She didn't want boils. That'll mean more work. She'd have to work on a Boil Cure Potion if that happened. So...being a careful Ravenclaw here. Yep. When the bubotuber pus met the mixture, it sizzled and smoked a bit which made her back away. See? It was dangerous if not handled painstakingly. She allowed it to sit for a while before stirring the mixture again. This time in a counterclockwise direction. The mixture turned into a color of thick yellowish green liquid. Ew? Just as she had finished diluting the bubotuber pus, Mika had sprinkled in the jobberknoll feathers so she offered the girl a wink before pouring in the dilution she had finished doing. Once more, sizzling and a few wisps of smoke happened. Moreover, it smelled bad. Time to add in the aloe vera and peppermint, eh? So they'd get rid of that horrible smell. Eurgghh. |
SPOILER!!: Bee Oh god. That thing – that potion…it smelled like death and petrol combined. Mika fanned her hand in front of her nose to blow away some of the smoky concoction and well – it just smelled bad. Horrid even. Taking the vile of Aloe Vera and peppermint in either hand she began to carefully ad the oil and liquid into the concoction. The minute the first bit of aloe hit the potion the color changed immediately from that yellowish-green color to a more pleasing spring green. Then after adding the peppermint the concoction’s color began to turn a darker, fresh forest green. And heck – it smelled better. Like someone’s breathe after chewing fake mint gum. She of course added in a bit more of the aloe followed by the last of the peppermint. And now the color of the potion was greener – healthier. And the smell, it was like pure peppermint. Which was great because it smelled great. She’d not mind putting it on her now since she wasn’t going woozy standing near it. |
Post 5. SPOILER!!: McFeisty Mikaaaaa....hurry and add in the aloe vera and peppermint. Beezus' nose had wrinkled so much by now and she was stopping herself from breathing. The brew was putrid-smelling. If she smelled it by how it was right now, she was sure she was going to faint. In a matter of a few minutes though, her younger 'Claw had FINALLY killed off that horrible smell and was replaced by mint. "Thank Merlin, you're fast." She told her as she removed her dragonhide gloves and set it to the side. Beezus was almost unsure if she would be able to last a minute more with the smell that was coming from their brew. This time, however, she was breathing in wonderfully because the potion's scent was a whole lot better. Peppermint. Mhmm. Kinda like Okay....shush now, Castell. With a tinge of blush in her cheeks courtesy of her thoughts, she read the next step on the parchment. "Cast 'Solvo misce laxate' 3 times over the mixture. I'll do this one...is that all right, Mika?" Or...if she wanted to do it, Beezus can go teach her what the wand movement was supposed to be. |
post 6! :D Quote:
Wand at the ready she nodded and practiced the words over her tongue quickly. “solvo misce laxate,” she cast it the first time. And again, “solvo misce laxate,” and finally “solvo misce laxate,” she was beaming now. The spellwork portion of the potion was done and well, that meant that the potion was almost finished. "Alright what next?" She asked looking over to Beezus as she realized almost all of the ingredients were used. Heck they almost had a fully formed potion. Which was great. Really great. |
