Not too far away from the large circular desk-like contraption in the center of the library where the librarian, Mr Kitridge usually can be found keeping a keen eye on the goings of the library and its visitors you can find the records section. If you don’t want to ask for help or assistance right away then check this out. A whole book case has been taken in possession to house the extensive record tomes of past teachers, prefects, awards, champions and all the events big and small that has occurred in Hogwarts long history since its founding many, many years ago. The information is easy to access and anyone is free to consult the records any time they need but be respectful of the tomes age. No tomes may be removed or borrowed from the library without the librarian’s approval or direct instruction.
A set of bookshelves stretches out behind the Librarian’s desk, this is the reference section. The books these shelves hold make up the library’s reference section. Here you can find a complete list of all the books, news papers crammers etc found in the whole of the library. If you need any help the librarian isn't far away.

Coming back to the reference section for the third time since she had offered Mr. Kitdridge her services in reorganizing it, Kurumi held a dust rag in her hand to do any last bits of dusting on the shelves and tables that might be needed since she had been instructed not to use magic just to be safe...but there was little she could do without using magic. She had already rearranged the History of Magic shelf several times only to come back the next time to find all the books completely out of order.
"Something must be wrong with the alphabetizing charm on the books," Kurumi said to herself as she rearranged the self again and, just to test the theory, took a book from the shelf and then let go of it to see if it would go back to its proper place as it SHOULD were the charm working correctly...only it went to the end of the row and resettled there instead of going back in order. "Yep...the charm has gone faulty," she sighed as she removed her wand from her robes. There really was only one thing she could do, and that was remove the spell from all of these books and start over completely.
"Finite Incantatem."
Kurumi ended up having to perform the spell a few times, seeing as the charms in place were rather strong ones, but after a few minutes and some targeted spells on some books that were being a little difficult, but she eventually removed the effects of the faulty charm on all the books in the reference section before flopping into a chair for a short breather. Now...to put the charm back ON all the books.

Beezus tugged on the end of her scarf as she stepped inside the School Library. Aside from the Study Tables at the Ravenclaw Common Room and the Terrace at the Greenhouses, it was the other place where she could relax fully. It was much likely the opposite of the Quidditch Pitch. Here, she wasn't required to talk and she could just lazily slump down into a chair and go over a book.
However, today, she wasn't here for normal book-reading. She was there, because she wanted to take a look at the famous yearbooks (wait, that was still a book right?) that everyone's been babbling about. For her past three years at Hogwarts, she hasn't seen one yet. So she was very much curious as to how these account of the term passed was compiled.
Knowing that the kind could be found on the Reference Section, the Ravenclaw immediately headed there without asking the Librarian for help. She knew after all, no need to disturb Mr. Kitridge since he might be busy.
"Oh, I didn't realize you were here Kurumi." Beezus said cheerily as she entered, smiling and waving at the Gryffindor Prefect who was seated on a chair.

Kurumi tapped her wand against her temple for a few moments as she eyed first the bookshelves and then scanned over all the books. She was going to have to remove all of them from the shelves first, charm the bookshelf, and then charm each book individually for testing. Merlin this would take forever unless she got someone to help her...
Heh. Heeeeeeeeeeeello Beezus!
Jumping up out of her chair, but not pocketing her wand, Kurumi approached the younger Ravenclaw with an almost mischievous smile tugging on her lips. "Hey Beezus," she chirped, eyeing the bookshelves out of the corner of her eye. "Do you...happen to have some spare time right now?" Like...an hour or so? Only Kurumi didn't actually voice that bit out loud. "I could really use some help, um, reorganizing and charming the reference section. The charms put in place on the bookshelves went wonky."

Hmm. Just what was Kurumi doing? Was she cleaning the books? Weren't there house elves hired to do that? Then again, knowing Kurumi, the seventh-year would gladly take on any task especially if it could her house-elf family friends.
"Spare time?" Spare tire? Bleh. "Yes! I suppose.. I don't have any remaining class for the rest of the day actually." Beezus nodded. Because they were to write some article about the Statute of Secrecy at History of Magic but she was done with it so Professor Scabior said she didn't have to attend class today. Her classmates were just finishing their write-ups anyway. Hmm? Help the Gryffindor Prefect with the books? SURE! "Okay then! I'd be glad to." She flexed her fingers and took out her wand.
"So, what spell are we using for this? Or..should we pull the books off the shelves first?" That is, if they were putting the charm on EACH book. Gosh, there was actually quite a number.
And yes, she had completely forgotten about what she came here for. Poor Ravenclaw. Maybe she'll remember it when everything was done, no?
astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf
Oh GOOD! Kurumi even ended up clapping her hands together when Beezus said she had some time. Excellent. Now the task would only take an hour or two instead of several hours.
Kurumi returned her attention to the nearest bookshelf and sighed heavily. "I just removed the spell that alphabetizes books...because that was faulty...so that is going to have to be put back on both the shelves and the books," she explained as she pulled two books from the topmost shelf and set them on the floor. "So...first...I think we have to remove all the books...then cast the spell on the shelves...and then..." Kurumi simply waved her hand at ALL the books and then went back to Beezus where she smiled rather sheepishly. "You still up for this?"
Because...now Beezus knew the extent of the task that the pair of them would be facing.

Kat walked to the reference section after Mr. Kitridge directed her here. When she arrived, she wasn't alone. She saw the Lion Girl prefect (Kat liked to call her Lion Prefection since she was sooo perfect. Haha.) and Beezus talking. But Kat left them alone as not to disturb them in their conversation.
Kat searched around the Quidditch books. She's already read 'Quidditch Through the Ages' two terms ago. Maybe she should try reading other Quidditch-related books. As she was looking, she saw a book named 'Beating the Bludgers - A Study of Defensive Strategies in Quidditch' written by the same author who wrote QTTA, Kennilworthy Whisp. Kat thought, Maybe this book could answer Kat's questions. She took the book out of its place, sat down, and began to read the first few pages of the book while taking notes on her parchment.

Hmm? Remove the books then cast the charms back on the books and on the shelves? Beezus nodded. Yeah, she got that. It wasn't a hassle really, they had more complicated tasks during classes.
"So, we're going to remove the books first then?" And without waiting for an answer from the Prefect, Beezus already began to take out books from shelves, two at a time and carefully placing them on the pile that Kurumi had created on the floor. There were still manyyyyyyyyyy books.
Pull. Pull. Pull. Pull.
"Did Mr. Kitridge ask you to do this by the way?" .and alone? ..the Ravenclaw asked as she crouched down, adding more books to the heap on the floor. Then out of the corner of her eye, she saw Katrina enter the Reference Section, she gave the Slytherin a small wave and a smile before wheeling around to pull more books.

Homaygad this book had sooo much info in it. Normally Kat's head would be aching right now but her passion of Quidditch was like... boom. It's unexplainable, really. Kat was entralled by the strategies the book held. It would be sooooooo helpful to her... if she ever got into the House roster anyway.
As Kat was turning into the next chapter, she looked sideways and saw Beezus waving at her, smiling. Kat smiled and waved back. She would've started a conversation with her Ravenclaw friend but Beezus was kinda busy with some.. assignment, I guess, with Kurumi. Hmm. Yeah.

Kurumi nodded and continued to collect books from the top shelf, adding them to the growing pile on the floor. She internally cringed at how out of order they were and wondered just HOW the librarian had let the reference section get like this so early in the term. Or what person decided to totally undo the charmswork that was here.
Probably Peeves.
"Yep," she sighed with a slight laugh. "I was giving him a copy of the newest yearbook for the library and asked if there was anything he needed help with. Said the reference section was a right mess and...well...now you know." Top row done, Kurumi moved to the second...and then the third...and so on until that bookshelf was now rid of all its books.
Wand out again, Kurumi traced an outline of the shelf and then the letter A in the air. "Alphabeto ordinem," she said, finishing off the wand movement with a Z pattern in the air.
It was only then that Kurumi noticed that they had been joined by another student....hmmmmmmm...more helping hands perhaps? Only she looked as though she was reading something...only...erm, awkward. Kurumi was going to need that book once they got to the Quidditch shelf so she could recharm it.

Beezus just finished pulling out all the books on the shelf she had started working on when Kurumi mentioned the yearbooks. YEARBOOKS! Huffing air, she snapped her fingers and turned to the Gryffindor Prefect with an amused expression. "The yearbooks. That's why I'm here. I wanted to take a look at 'em." Great. Kurumi seemed to know where those bindings where, she'd ask help from her later.
With a grin, she watched as the lioness cast a spell on the shelf. She wasn't familiar with that one. It was the first time she had heard of it. But its incantation made its function pretty much obvious. "Is that charm supposed to drag the books into its proper alphabetical order?" That's how it sounded like.
At this point, she was holding her wand again. "Should I execute that Charm too?" Well, she was there to help after all. But yeah, Kurumi needed to teach her about that first if she was going to perform it or else, she'd only just produce a mess.

Kat was half-listening to Lion Prefect and Beezus' conversation while reading the book. Well... don't mistaken her as an eavesdropper. It's just that they had some important business in here that probably Kat shouldn't have went here.
The snake overheard that both of them needed to rearrange the books. And then... Kat... well, she's holding a book. Oh no, she shouldn't have been here. Kat was kinda shaking, ooohhh no. After Kat got all the information she needed, she stood up and went to the two. "Uhm... I thought you might want to..." Kat gulped. Ok, who wouldn't be scared? She was talking to the Lion Prefection. Merlin's beard. "Have this back since both of you are having some sort of business here,"
Kat made a small smile. Oh, she was never this nervous. "Uhmm," Kat started. "Do you need a hand, or something?"

YAY! So it was true that people came here to look at the yearbooks! For some reason that made Kurumi really really happy. For a while she sort of felt as though perhaps it was just her and her staff that looked over and flipped through the pages over and over again, but right now was perhaps the first time she had heard someone who wasn't faculty or staff say that they wanted to see them. DOUBLE YAY! "Well, we are going to have to recharm those too," she laughed. Only the spell might need to be a little different for that shelf since it involved numbers... might have to experiment with that a little.
Kurumi nodded. "I came across it in a bit of light reading I was doing for my NEWTs. Ironically, it isn't too difficult a spell, just the wand movement is a bit tricky because it is so long." Kurumi repeated the process on the next shelf and then looked back at Beezus. "If you want to start on the books that might be the best idea. Just trace the binding with your wand, say alphabeto, then trace A and Z in the air while saying ordinem. Should do the trick."
At least...she thought that they needed to perform it on both the shelf and the book. It made sense...the book couldn't really DO anything on its own and the spell didn't work like a book magnet or anything like that.

Tracing over the third shelf, Kurumi's attention was caught by the Slytherin girl when she offered the book back. "Oh, thanks. Do you mind placing it with the other Quidditch books for now?" There was a pile of them...somewhere...on the floor...among all the books.
Oh, and look at that. She was offering too. YAY! "Actually...do you mind helping Beezus charm all these books?"

Kat searched the floor for the stacked pile of Quidditch books. Well... it was kind of crowded in here. When she saw a copy of Quidditch Through the Ages, she placed her book on top of the stack as well.
Yay, Lion Prefection accepted her offer. "No, I don't mind," Kat said. "Uhmm, what's the charm by the way?" Yeah, better to ask then to see something unexpected... that starts with a boom.

Scrutinizing how the Prefect was performing the spell, Beezus looked over her shoulder when she heard another voice speak up. It was Kat. And she was handing over a book. A Quidditch one is it? "Oh, I think the Q ones are over..." her eyes scanned the piles of books on the floor. "...there." she pointed over one towering collection near a small table.
As the Slytherin went over to return the book, Beatrice turned her attention back to Kurumi. "Of course. I can't wait to see them," she replied, referring to the yearbooks. Oh, she was excited already!
Then the Prefect was teaching her the Charm, and she listened carefully, and followed the movement as best as she could. No need to burn anything or spray all over right? "Alphabeto Ordinem," she kept muttering the incantation for a while before nodding when Kurumi told her she should start charming the books. Gripping her wand, Beezus did the A movement then uttered out the incantation before finishing it with a zig zag movement, just like in their recent Transfiguration class. Hmm. Well a wisp from her wand drifted towards the book. So, she did alright then?
"Kurumi, I'm not sure if I've done it correctly. Can you uhmm..check this one first?" Just to make sure. Yeeep.
Kimothée Chalamet • The UWU Agenda • Once Baby, Now Trouble • All Growed Up
Kat observed as Beezus was casting the spell. The hand movement was kinda complicated since at first, it starts off with an 'A' then a 'Z'. This was even more complicating than what they learn in Transfiguration or Charms. Heh. Maybe this could actually help her be more patient and not-so-lazy.
Kat took her wand out and tried the charm on an Astronomy book. "Alphabeto Ordinem," Kat made an A and then made a swift zig-zag Z. Then something just hit the book lightly. Ok. Freaky. Kat wondered if she did it right since she never used the spell anyway. "Uhh... Kat started as apprehension tensed her.

With the Quidditch book in the pile with the rest of the books, Kurumi performed the charm on another shelf and then turned around to face both girls again. Oh, right. The Slytherin didn't know the spell...and Kurumi didn't know her name.
"I'm Kurumi, by the way," she said with a small bow. "The spell is Alphabeto ordinem and it's the wand movement that is the tricky bit," Kurumi explained as she picked up a book from the pile and gave her a quick demonstration. "If the spell worked correctly...the book should find its place on the shelf..." Kurumi then turned towards the bookshelf, held her breath, and let go of the book. She exhaled quite suddenly when she saw it float up in the air and rest on the shelf without a fuss.
Kurumi then turned to the book in Beezus' hand and she gladly accepted it. "I am sure you did just fine," Kurumi chirped. Beezus was rather gifted with Charms, or so Kurumi thought. She turned back to the shelf, let go of the book and....
*SMACK*
"KYAAAAAA!" The book ended up smacking the seventh year right smack in the middle of her forehead, causing her to stumble backwards slightly and oooooover the chair behind her where she then landed in a mess of Gryffindor robes on the floor. The book, meanwhile, floated around the room and continued to smack itself against anything and everything - including Kat's knees and Beezus' nose.
"Finite! Use Finite!" Kurumi gasped as she attempted to pull herself up off the ground.

Of course I know Kurumi the great Lion Prefect, Kat thought to herself. Oh, wait, she had to introduce herself first. "I'm Katrina," the snake smiled. "You could call me Kat if you'd like," Kat saw as Kurumi let go of her pre(r)fectly charmed book that floated back to its shelf. Wow. Who knew someone could be that good in Charms at such an age. Kat tried to do the same to her charmed book and closed her eyes... then let go. She opened her eyes to see her book float back to its proper place, the A column with the other Astronomy books. Yey. She was happy for herself for that. Then she saw Kurumi let go of Beezus' charmed books
And then...
THE BOOK HAD GONE MAD! MERLIN'S BEARD. The book started smacking everything, hitting Kurumi flat on the forehead and toppling her down. Then the book hit Kat on her knees. "Agh!" Kat fell down as well. Good lord. Her wand fell from her hand under the book shelves. The pain didn't hurt that much but her knees were turning red. Not. Good.
Kat stretched to get her wand from below the 'A' column shelves. "Beezusssss," she said loud enough. The pain was swelling but Kat held it in. Oh, she didn't expect that book to actually smack her knees THAT hard.

Beezus glanced at the Slytherin who was practicing the same Charm while she waited for Kurumi's verdict. Hmm. Wasn't she supposed to do the A wand movement BEFORE saying the incantation? Or was her senses failing her again? Choosing not make a comment since she herself wasn't certain of her capability when it came to Charms, Beezus shifted around just as Kurumi had let go of the book that she cast a charm on.
AND THEN....
O__________________________________o
"K'rumi!" The Ravenclaw had barely muttered the Gryffindor's name when the book she just magicked had turn against them, hit the lioness on the forehead (EH! Why was her wandwork always directed towards other peers' foreheads whenever it goes haywire?), was going for Kat's knees and with a resounding, "OUCH!" from her, it also smacked her nose.
Clutching her nose, Beezus staggered upright, wand in hand. COME HERE YOU INSANE BOOK! "Finite!" she yelped, her want pointed at the book rocketing towards them. Gosh!
Sarah headed to this side of the library and she scanned the titles to see what interested her, she had read quite a few of the books there.Spellman’s Syllabary. read. Quidditch Through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp. read. Then, she spotted a book she had not read.. yet. A Fully Illustrated History of the Flying Carpet, that looked like a brilliant read. Flying Carpets were banned, yet she was interested in finding out about this old form of transport. She quite liked the picture of families soaring through the air on a carpet! She was eager to check it out though... and it was illustrated.. which was awesome... I mean, Who does not like pictures in their books?
So she slipped it out of the shelf

Stumbling and rolling on to her side, Kurumi eventually got herself back up off the ground and on her feet. And just in time to see the rogue book smack against a few more things, nearly knocking over a lamp and crashing again the window.
"Beezus! You alright?" Kurumi asked as she tried to take aim at the book that was continuing on its rampage through the reference section. It HAD looked as though it had hurt....getting smacked right in the nose like that at all.
And why didn't Kat have her wand? Kurumi had seen anything that had happened, so she was completely unaware that the Slytherin's wand had rolled under one of the book shelves. "Kat! Your wand," she instructed, again not knowing that her wand was not within reach.
Ducking suddenly when the book went back towards her, Kurumi pointed her wand at the book as it again made its way towards Beezus and her face. "FINITE!" Kurumi's spell hit and hit the floor with a dull thud.
Crisis averted. THANK MERLIN.
"Um...maybe we should all go over the incantation and wand movement again?"

Hands still clasped around her nose, Beezus managed to utter a muffled 'yes' as Kurumi asked it she was okay. Okay, maybe not entirely for she could feel warm liquid trickling from her nose and clinging to her hands. Moving it away for just a bit, she saw blood.
Oh Merlin! "On second thought, I'm not really okay.." She wasn't going to deny it because it was actually aching. She didn't need any injuries before Quidditch season hasn't even started.
Beezus could hear the Prefect telling the Slytherin what to do while she was wiping the blood off with the back of her bare hands. Ugh. When she looked up, she saw the two successfully suppress the crazy rogue book and it was now on the floor, lying steadily as if it didn't cause such a commotion. Then again, it was all because of her faulty wandwork why it had gone cray cray. So eyeing it with detest wasn't really justifying for its part.
Go over the incantation and wand movement?
Err..."Uhmm..can I ask for a tissue first?" They weren't exactly going to send charms around with blood all over her right?

After retrieving her wand by crawling and squishing herself through the spaces between the floor and the shelves, Kat stood up and wiped the dirt from her uniform. Though her knee was banged hard by the lunatic book, Kat could support herself by holding onto a table. This was a whole lot better than never walking AGAIN.
"Yeah," Kat said. "I think we should go over the incantation and the hand movement." Just to be safe. Before sitting down, she saw some splatters of blood on the carpet. Looking for the origin, she noticed Beezus covering her nose while asking if anyone had some tissue. Getting one from her slingbag, Kat offered her Ravenclaw friend some tissue. "Here, I've got some tissue."

Oh gosh...Beezus. Waving her wand in the air, Kurumi conjured an ice pack and handed it to the Ravenclaw. "Here, use this for now," Kurumi instructed. "Maybe you should sit down too? Just for a little." Since that book had smacked her in the face rather hard just a few moments ago.
At least Kat had found her wand. Kurumi conjured an ice pack for Kat as well. "For your knees." Kurumi then turned her attention back to the bookshelf and the pile of books on the ground. "Actually, if you two are okay with it since this alphabetizing spell is a bit tricky...maybe you two can perform the Atmospheric Charm on the books? Just point and say Impervius." It was much more basic than the one they had been working on. "I'll finish up with the other charm."
That way they could cover more of the books and work more efficiently - and hopefully with less injuries too.

Beezus acceptes the tissue from the younger Slytherin as she muttered a silent thanks So with the ice pack when Kurumi handed one over. "Thanks..and yeah I think I should sit for a while," the Ravenclaw added as scooted over to sit on a chair, ice pack pressed on her nose. Thankfully, the bleeding has ceased now.
After a few minutes of letting herself compensate for whatever damage she got, Beezus just got up in time when Kurumi told he rand Kat to just take care of waterproofing the books. She was pretty relieved actually, it was a whole easier than the previous one so no more cray cray books on the loose was guaranteed.
Wand in hand, the fourth year brunette eventually got around to casting the Atmospheric Charm on the stack of books closest to her without complications.. Yeap, that was definitely better.
