Sutton stepped through the giant doors and peered around room she'd followed all of the other students into. It was... cavernous to say the least. Stone floors and walls, large fire places, and floating candles stretched out before her in every direction. As she surveyed the area, her eyes drifted up to the ceiling, which precisely reflected the stormy sky outside. Her head tilted backwards, she instinctively pulled her robes around her tighter, expecting a gust of rainy wind, but it never came. Her eyes fixed to the heavens above, she slowly spun in a circle, seemingly mesmerized by the powerful magic she was seeing.

Since Logan was new to Hogwarts, some things here were just odd to him. The ceiling reflecting stormy clouds was one of those things. Never his life had he seen an enchanted ceiling, so he spent more attention looking up as opposed to infront of him. Why he ended up bumping right into someone who was just as mesmerized as him. "Sorry!"

A bump from behind snapped Sutton out of her reverie, and she wheeled around. She immediately locked eyes with a cute, slender boy who couldn't be more than a couple of years older than her. Smiling bashfully, her face blushed, and she took a step back to put some distance between her and the boy. Somehow, she ended up with her robes under her feet, and she began to be pulled backwards. As she quickly worked to untangle herself and remain on her feet, she slipped on a small puddle of water tracked in by the hundreds of students. Unable to re-establish her balance now, she fell forward, right toward the boy, her eyes suddenly wide with that panicked feeling of falling originating from somewhere in her stomach.

Logan found that his cheeks matched hers, as they started to turn red. He normally wasn't this clumsy. At least she was okay though.

As he opened his mouth to introduce himself, he noticed her start slipping into his arms. Seems he wasn't the only clumsy one.

"You alright there?" This girl was rather pretty.

Luckily, the boy had quick reflexes, and before Sutton knew it, she had landed safely in his arms, saving her from an emotionally, socially, and physically damaging face plant on the stone floor. Smiling up at him brightly, now, she responded, "Yes, I am... thanks to you. You saved me!" She almost giggled... almost.

Extracting herself from his arms, she stood back up carefully and decided she should introduce herself now that she had invaded his personal space. "I'm Sutton, by the way!"

Logan nodded and felt the heat leave his cheeks. "I'm glad I could save you." Otherwise she might have gotten hurt or embarrased. Both of which would be rather unpleasant.

He looked down at his outfit now, straightening it out. "Nice to meet you. I am Logan."

Definitely not the way he expected his first day to go. He had imagined standing on the platform at Hogsmeade waiting for the Hogwarts Express to arrive and then escort the first years down to the lake, hop into the boats and sail over to the castle.

Instead he stood on the platform waiting for a train that never came, kids arrived by portkey and about fifty of them managed to get injured. When he finally managed to get the first years down to the boats, it began to pour with rain and the lake became a choppy mess.

And so here Sebastian stood soaking wet and bedraggled, holding onto a very wet and sorry looking first year. "Seriously what were you thinking?" He was sure he had asked the boy that at least three times already and he still hadn't gotten answer.

"I don't know how you thought that by standing on the bow of your boat and yelling at the top of your voice that you're 'the king of the world' was going to prove your boat was the best."

The only thing it had proved was that he should not stand on the bow of the boat when there was a storm going on. The boy had managed to fall into the lake and Sebastian had had to go in after him.

Plastered to Dustin's face was a goofy grin - a look of triumph. He had certainly proven that his boat was BEST!BOAT. Several students had flocked to his boat (in his head), and his procolmation of being king had also proved that fact. If that girl hadn't lifted his foot (HE SWEARS IT HAPPENED, even if it might not have...) then he wouldn't have fallen in.

"Sir, I've already told you. I was clearly proving that my boat was the BEST. A feat you yourself were unable to achieve. However, your boat did take a respectable next-to-best. It was the biggest, after all." He spoke matter-of-factly to emphasize just how serious he was. "And honestly, it wasn't even my fault. I swear that girl lifted my foot. But whatever. She was waving to the water, so she was crazy anyway. And besides, even if she WAS trying to make friends with the lake inhabitants, I did a better job of that."

The title of BEST!BOAT Captain had gone to his head already.

Seb had to refrain from rolling his eyes. The kid was still going on about his boat being the best. And Merlin, could thr lad talk! And he thought that he had the gift of the gab. This young Ravenclaw had him beat for sure, but he was not about to tell him that.

"Okay, okay I exceed defeat, your boat was the best." Even though he'd had to take an unwanted swim in the lake, Seb just couldn't be mad at the kid. "You most certainly did do a better job and if I hadn't gotten you out when I did, there was a rather scary looking mermaid just wanting to make you her pet."

Not really. But the kid didn't need to know that.

VICTORY!

As soon as mandude had admitted defeat, everything else sounded like "blah blah blah blah woh woh blah woh woh." Mermaids? Unimportant. Irrelevant. NOT PART OF VICTORY. Unless they wanted to shower him with gifts. Which was apparently not the case.

Instead, Dustin punched a fist of supremacy into the air, accompanied by quite an admirable leap.

"Soo........do I go get sorted now? That's what this is, right?" he asked, unsure of what to do next. Victory was sweet, but there was no sense in rubbing it in mandude's face.

Before waiting for an answer, he rushed down the rest of the hall, just in time to hear his name called. Calling over his shoulder, he yelped, "Bye Mr. Groundskeeper Mandude!"

Okay, it was okay. She could do this. This boy seemed nice. "Well, it was quite... chivalrous of you!" Sutton said as she tucked her hair behind her ear and then untucked it without thinking. "I'm not usually that clumsy!" she explained in an attempt to regain some of those first impression points back. "I'm just not used to wearing robes, I guess..."

As the boy introduced himself and adjusted his clothes, Sutton dared to allow herself to take stock of him for a moment, surveying his face and his build. At least if she was going to fall in someone's arms, it was someone she wouldn't mind being her knight in shining armor. While looking him over, something on his robes caught her eye. Pointing to the house crest on the chest of his robes, her smile grew even brighter. "You're in Hufflepuff, too?!"

Taylor ran out of the feast and sat down on the steps, burying her head in her knees. She didnt know what was happening to her but she didnt like it.

Ariana came out after taylor "what was that taylor?" she asked more confused than anything

Tay glanced up at Ariana, "I... I dont know." There was sorrow in her eyes and she looked away. "I dont even know what all happened..." Taylor sighed.

"you dont know what happened?" she was even more confused now "what's going on?"

Tay looked at her, "I dont know..." She rubbed her head. "Where's Damon?" She glanced around and blinked. Taylor reached up for the two necklaces she always wore, "The necklaces... what the heck happened..."

Ariana put a hand on taylor's shoulder "Tay, Are you ok. You dont remember?"

Taylor looked up at her, "Remember what? All I remembered is that Damon and I didnt know what to talk about..." Her face twisted into a look of confusion, "Why are you being nice to me?"

"did you hit your head on the train or coming off the portkey?" she was genuinely concerned "Taylor, You just broke up with Damon and dropped your necklaces on the floor before you walked out here." she said to her slowly so she could process it

Tay looked at Ariana, "I dont think so..." She thought about it, "Not anytme I remembered... though I did hit my head at the table..." She tilted her head, confused, "Why would I do that?" Taylor glanced back at the feast.

Ariana shook her head "I dont know but you wigged out and called him an idiot before you ripped the necklaces off your neck and dropped them to the floor before you came out here, I think i should get you to the hospital wing." she said hoping taylor would be ok with going because she really needed to go

Taylor looked confused until Ariana mentioned the hospital wing. She stood up rapidly, "I am not going there... I refused." Tay was a bit scared of the healer since she seemed evil, "I am fine..." Taylor attempted a smile with the lie.

"okay okay, we dont have to go, just come sit here with me ok?" she talked softly and calmly so that tay would comply "i know you hit your head on the train today." she looked at her "does your head hurt?"

Tay looked at her and nodded, "Okay." She sat down by Ariana. "I did? I dont remember that..." Taylor sighed and grimaced, "Yeah... a little..."
