If permitted to enter the highly exclusive and incredibly pink palace of Headmistress Anastasia Reina (née Bunbury) Truebridge, take a moment to allow your eyes to adjust. The current occupant of the Head chambers has distinct fashion tastes unlike any of her predecessors.

The desk, which is easily the largest item in the room, is kept even more tidy than when it was occupied by a certain non-educator. In front of the desk is a line of squishy pink and gold waiting chairs; behind it is what can only be described as a veritable throne. This must be where the Headmistress sits.

The room is decorated with healthy, potted green plants; bright, vertically striped hot pink curtains; books and magazines; and lots and lots of framed vacation, family, and friend photos. Most of the photo occupants are the Headmistress' husband, a former professor himself, and her two-year old son, who is certain to grow up to be a genius. The largest photo is of all three members of the happy family, which sits facing the Headmistress' throne and the large window behind it.

The other frames on the walls of the room include portraits of former headmasters; a class-encased certain 'royal' man's cane; and a framed scrap of paper from one of Hogwarts' own student publications. In the back corner of the room, near the door that leads to the rest of the Headmistress' chambers, is a collection of very rare brooms locked up inside a corner cabinet. In front of the cabinet sits a large wicker basket, containing a very pampered, very fat ginger cat. This is Gingersnapple.

Gingersnapple is most protective of his master's chambers, so if you truly wish to speak the Headmistress in her office, be aware that you are doing so at your own risk.

What an...interesting?Office. There was pink everywhere...

Of course he wasn't here to discuss the decor so he wouldn't mention it. Instead he took a seat by the table and waited to be joined by the Headmistress. Maybe then he would get some answers seeing as Alexa was determined to keep everything to herself. He glanced over at his daughter who appeared to be taking everything in...almost like she'd never been in here before.

Not surprizing. She couldn't have possible had any reason to be in here in the past.

Wooooow, the sorting hat was still in the corner! She stole a glance at it but not for too long just in case the Headmistress saw her and decided to bring it up. She could do without a report of her past activities thank you very much. Her eyes continued roving around the office. It hadn't changed much since her last visit.

With no urgency in her step she made her way over to the empty seat next to her father and waited for this to be over with.

The Headmistress came in behind them, the door clicking shut behind her quietly. She made her way over to the plush pink ~~throne~~ seat behind her desk and settled in, resting her hands in a fold on the top of the desk before she said anything.

"Mr. Cambridge," the redhead began at last, now that they were appropriately nervous, "do you know why you're here today? Has Alexa shared the many reasons for her suspension with you? I'm assuming you saw the letter we sent home with her, since you did make your appointment today..."

He finally admitted. BUT he was sure that whatever it was it couldn't have been THAT bad. Honestly, how much trouble could an 11 year old get herself into?

Alexa's eyes shot to the Headmistress immediately. Wasn't it obvious that her father didn't know half the details? Why'd she have to go and wanna bring it up? Wasn't the past the past? This woman just wanted her to get in more trouble, didn't she?

Mmm. It was as she thought. Anastasia locked eyes with the little brat, her blue orbs seeming to sparkle with vengeful glee. How wonderful; she would get to personally inform Alexa's father of just what a spoiled runt his daughter was. Didn't she love her job?

"Well," the redhead turned back to the father, "Alexa started off the year by stealing a broom from the school collection and then breaking into my office. She flew into this window right here," Annie pointed over her shoulder, "and then attempted to eat the legendary Sorting Hat." The precious Hat was now in storage, and had been replaced in the office with a fake, but the Gryffindor had no need to know that.

"Additionally," the Headmistress went on, "she refused to complete her task of polishing a few school plaques during detention, started a dispute with another student, broke the other student's wand, refused to follow directions and use teamwork during that resulting detention, and finally ended detention by calling me stupid and insane. She's also constantly ornery, pugnacious, stubborn, and disrespectful to everyone she encounters. She was far overdue for a suspension just for those behaviors alone."

Bunz paused for breath. "This is just the tip of the iceberg, Mr. Cambridge, as these are only the things I've personally witnessed or heard about Alexa. There's no telling how she behaves without constant adult supervision."

His eyes fell to Alexa immediately. WHAT HAD SHE BEEN DOING SINCE SHE LEFT?! She wasn't nearly as much trouble at her ol--...yes she was...He didn't even know where to begin! What was the right thing to say at a moment like this? She had done things that not even he would have dared trying during his years at Hogwarts. Her mother was a wild one but...he couldn't remember Susan doing anything like that either...

"Alexa--" He paused abruptly, searching for the right words. Lex you know--" He had to choose his words carefully. While she needed to be reprimanded he didn't want to upset her.

When she said it like that it didn't make things very easy for her. Perhaps she should have been the one to inform her father. She looked from the Headmistress to her father then back again. Half that stuff wasn't even her fault! That bloody idiot girl had been picking on her and that Lainey woman told her to eat the hat! What's more, she was KICKED out of detention, it wasn't like she refused to do the cleaning...well not in so many words anyway.

In an effort to not make things worse she bit her tongue and decided it was best she not say anything.

"Well I hope you know you have to apologize." He raised an eyebrow at her. She did know that, right? Someone tell him he hadn't raised her THAT badly. "And let me also apologize. I had no idea she was capable of anything like what you've mentioned." Okay maybe he did but he wasn't about to admit that!

WHAAAAAAT? B-but...it wasn't her fault...Alexa Cambridge apologized to NO ONE.

And apologize she WOULD! Anastasia looked expectantly at the demon child, waiting for those sweet, sweet words 'I'm sorry' to come spilling out of her pouting lips.

And she waited.

And then she grew tired of waiting.

"Well?" the redhead prompted, one angry eyebrow arched in concern. Don't even LET BUNZ GET STARTED on Mr. Cambridge's so-called PARENTING.

He kept his gaze on Alexa, watching for the moment she would start pouting. He hoped she didn't though. As much as he hated to admit it, he was a sucker for that stubbornly defiant look of hers that reminded him so much of her mother. Now would be the worst time for that afterall, he still had what little of an image he had with this woman to maintain.

He cleared his throat after several moments of nothing but silence ticked on. He knew the Headmistress was getting a little testy when she gave that prompt for Lex to speak up. "Come on Lex, think about all your friends you've made. Don't you miss them?" That would get her and if not he would probably rather subtly offer her a chocolate frog; those worked too.

No. No. No. NO.

She was NOT going to apologize to the mean lady! Nuh-uh, she didn't do anything wrong! Alexa knitted her brows as she looked up at her father. He must have known that she wasn't gonna, right? She never did. Her eyes darted over to the Headmistress when she spoke rather impatiently. She thought to scowl but then her father's words caught her attention.

Merlin he was right! While at home she missed so much and sooo many people!! She had to do this or LEAVE. This was all a very bitter pill for the kid to swallow. Apologizing went against everything she believed in BUT for the sake of her sanity and getting away from Amanda she had to.

Swallowing hard she turned to the Headmistress once more. This time finding it hard to meet her gaze. "I'm so--" She nearly choked on the word and had to stop. This was painful. "I'm...I...uh..." What was the word? Lex took a deep breath then decided to start this horrific process all over again. "I'm so-sorry...really I am."

She actually apologized without further coaxing? Wow! He didn't expect that! That was actually rather quick compared to the other times! He tried his hardest to hide his shock. The Headmistress was either a miracle worker or a hypnotist.

Ugh, she would have to wash her mouth out with soap when she was done.

Wow, really? She had to be talked into apologizing? And even then, the girl couldn't make eye contact?

"I don't think you're really being sincere," the redhead said smoothly. "Why I don't even see a replacement wand for Laura, here. Perhaps you'd better be specific as to what you are sorry for."

And she'd still be needing to buy the Hufflepuff a new wand...

Hard to please, that was how he was prepared to describe this woman. His princess had just taken the time to apologize--it even sounded more sincere than when he got her to do it yet she wasn't satisfied? Wow. Just wow.

Oh and the wand!

He had been wondering why Lex had asked him to buy another one when hers wasn't broken but he didn't question it too much. A replacement wand, was it? "Oh um, I think that's taken care of. She dragged me into Ollivander's after I bought her some cheering up ice-cream," Yup because she was plenty upset when she was sent home and he wanted her to smile, "It's with her things..."

Unbelievable.

She had just tortured herself saying an apology and she would have to do it again??? How was that fair?!?! Wasn't once enough punishment? Clearly not and if you asked her that Laura girl didn't deserve a new wand but she got it for her nonetheless.

What she was sorry for? She was sorry she met Laura, she was sorry she got detention, she was sorry some people were stupid--"I'm sorry for breaking Laura's wand then being disrespectful to both you and Professor Hadley." That time the apology nearly killed her.

Now what about HER wand? o__O

Aha, there it was. "I knew you were capable of contrition," Annie replied smugly, nearly singing it. "Once Laura's new wand is on my desk, you'll have yours back, Alexa. As for your suspension... I suppose it is lifted, then, though know that you'll still be under close watch. And the next time you act up, forget detention: you'll be expelled."

Her eyes flicked toward the father first as she gave him a brief nod. "Any questions?"

...EXPELLED?! Merlin this was even more serious than he thought. "Alexa, listen to me very carefully, I don't WANT to hear that you got expelled, you hear me? There is NO reason for you to NOT behave." He stressed just about every word in the sentence. This was one of the only times he truly got serious and this was, of course because he didn't want his daughter getting expelled. She was the first in his family to receive a suspension and he didn't want her creating another first! "Am I understood young lady?" Ugh, he even had to use that term that sounded so un-nurturing and impersonal, such a pity.

Mmm. He was using that tone again. He knew she didn't like that tone; this was all that Headmistress' fault, now her father was all upset at her. POUT.

Close watch...but then...how would she get away with doing anything? That didn't sound like very much fun at all! Then again...the expulsion didn't sound like very much fun either so without hesitation she nodded eagerly at the Headmistress' words. There was no time for smart remarks and that kind of thing all she wanted was to collapse in her common room and forget any of this happened. Poor Felix was probably dying slowly downstairs in the cage and she had to hurry back to him. "I understand--and I'll be good too--extra extra good!" Or well...as good as Alexa Cambridge could be.

As for the wand, the Headmistress would be getting another visit from her as soon as she settled in. It was hard being home and not being able to threaten to hex her step-mother. She wanted her baby back.

Questions? "Uh..no." None that he could think of. "Is that it then?" Or did she have something else to discuss because after the previous matter he wasn't sure he could handle hearing anymore of what Lexa did at school; it was too much.

Heheheehehhh. Now the father was doing some parenting there, yep, now he was. It still wasn't up to scratch with hers and Ethan's parenting, naturally, but well, not everyone was a Truebridge. Pity them.

Annie, for her part, behaved quite nicely during this lecture. She sat still and didn't fidget at all, and only flashed ONE tiny smirk in Alexa's direction. "That you will, Alexa, that you will," she murmured darkly, turning her evil smirk back into a normal, pleasant expression once the man was done lecturing.

"That will be all, I believe," she chirped quite happily, standing to give them both a proper dismissal. "Actually, Alexa, you can go on ahead to your dorms; Mr. Cambridge, I'd like a word with you alone, if possible...."

Alexa shot up from her seat immediately; there was no need to tell her twice. "Bye Daddy, I love you!" She gave him a brief hug then BOLTED from the room, fumbling with the lock a little when she was at the door.

At the moment she didn't care that the Headmistress was enjoying her suffering, oh no, now she just wanted to goooo.

Oh?

She needed to speak with him...alone? Clearly it was a case where she had something to say that she knew would have upset Lex and therefore thought it best the child leave. Maybe he was wrong about her afterall. She did care. "Of course." He confirmed. Just so long as she didn't try telling him that Alexa set half the castle on fire...yeah...he drew the line there.

"It's a pull door, dear, you just pull the door toward you; don't push it, pull. Ah, there you go." Annie did her best to sound sincere whilst watching the difficulties Alexa was having at the door, but really she was laughing SO HARD on the inside. Justice had never tasted so sweet.

Once the girl had cleared the room, she gestured for Mr. Cambridge to sit down again and re-took her own seat. "Yes, Mr. Cambridge, you see: I'm concerned about yours and Alexa's parent-child relationship. The education of the child really starts at home, and if the parents are not......how shall we say.....partners along with the educators, then we can all be wasting our breath trying to teach stubborn, uncooperative children."

She paused to peer at him in the hopes that he was getting where she was going with this.

"In other words, I think Alexa needs consistent discipline at home so that she does balk and take such...umbrage at the discipline she receives at school. All of my staff are highly capable educators and are, really, the best in their fields. They deserve more respect than they've been receiving from your daughter and certainly should not have to waste their valuable time trying to raise her."

Yes, that was something of a slap in the face, but could you blame the headmistress? She wanted some sort of guarantee from the girl's father that he wasn't just shipping her off to school to get her out of his hair. Merlin only knew what sort of difficulties he had raising her for only eleven years so far. MER-LIN!

He re-took his seat and listened as the Headmistress aired her concerns. It was just as he had thought; another one of those talks. Honestly he had heard enough of them by now. No matter where Alexa went the same could be said for her and in the end they all wanted to place blame on him as a parent.

What was that? He considered himself a great parent. He DID raise her well. His daughter was happy and she didn't lack the confidence needed to take on anything. Granted she was a bit high strung...just a little but that didn't mean that there was anything wrong with her and it certainly didn't mean that he had fallen short in the parenting field or the disciplinary one for that matter.

When she was wrong she was spoken to. He never saw the point in being harsh; it only made her resentful and he was trying to maintain what little harmony he could in the house especially with the way things were between her and his new wife.

"I understand what you're saying Headmistress." Really he did, seeing as this was only the 100th time he'd gotten this speech. "And I agree that the discipline is important," Perhaps the wrong form of discipline was being used, did they ever think of that? "However, I maintain that I raised her to the best of my abilities and I think she's just wonderful." He didn't take kindly to people telling him that he wasn't doing a good job of raising his own daughter.

It was very difficult to refrain from slapping herself in the forehead, much less slapping the idiotic man in front of her. WAKE UP!!!!! Annie wanted to shout at him. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE!!!!! SHE'S A CHILD, YOU'RE A GROWN MAN! COME ON!!!!!!!!!!

But.... she didn't, because she was a professional and she liked her entire job much more than she liked having, say, a lawsuit against her. So instead of retaliating the way she wished, Anastasia gritted her teeth and took a moment's silence to compose her thoughts.

"Well she is your daughter," the redhead conceded at last, "and you are free to raise her how you see fit. But if you would be interested in some...parenting tips..." She pressed a few pamphlets into his hand before he could disagree, "please take these sessions and counselors into consideration. I'm asking on behalf of all of Hogwarts...."

Really. Please do. Annie smiled tightly and stood again to show Cambridge to the door.

And now she was getting the right idea...or well...he liked to think she was. Alexa was HIS daughter afterall and he was free to raise her how he liked. As much as he agreed with her on the discipline he wouldn't say it to her face. No. She seemed like the type to hold things over a person and he was NOT in the mood.

He tried his hardest to remain composed when she, like many others, offered counselling. If it didn't work before it wouldn't work now. The child was simply head strong. She would find herself one day, this was all just a phase. All kids went through it at some point.

"Thank you for the suggestion." And with that he stood. All of Hogwarts? Seriously. The woman must have been over-exaggerating. THE CHILD WASN'T THAT BAD! No child could be that bad especially not his Lexa.

And so he could remain professional about this. "Have a good day." Or a horrible one, right now he didn't care. Then he left.

Passing quickly through the Gargoyles and the spiral moving staircase, Professor Elwood pushed the door open to the pink Headmistress's suite and help shuffle the owner into it. She clicked the door shut and took a look around, trying to decide where she would steer the totally freaked out woman where she wouldn't harm herself by passing out.

Where did she sleep while at the Castle? There wasn't a charmed fortune teller's wagon with a bed inside it in this office so Calista was at a loss.

"Annie would you like a sofa, or your desk chair? I would insist on at least a sofa in your state. Do you need me to fetch Healer Tillstorm to get you a calming draft?" Callie normally wouldn't have been offering to wait on the woman hand and foot but after the ordeal she had just been through she would help anyone; she herself was still shaken up from the Spector's violent turn.

She was going to floo herself home right now, she was! Not another night would be spent in this HORRID CASTLE without her husband, her son, and her brooch!

Annie drained the rest of the firewhiskey straight from the decanter, and then threw it and the pink glass straight into the fire, half-watching and half-sobbing as the glass exploded into a million tiny little pieces.

How she wished she could just evaporate like that sometimes.... oh how she wished.... She didn't roll into the fire just yet though, no. Even Annie wasn't so crazy as to step into a fireplace full of glass!

Instead, she pulled herself over to her desk, where she always kept a spare pair of boots and a cloak for emergencies. She dressed herself for traveling, dabbed at her makeup, and then returned to the fireplace. Most of the glass was gone by now, so she assumed it would be safe to step in.

The redhead tossed in some floo powder and climbed into the fireplace, trying to keep the hiccup out of her throat as she intoned, "Bunbury Estate." And with a whir of ashes and colorful flames, she was gone.
