"Th-thanks for the help" she smiled over to him. Stubborn brooms. Alright so she needed to be firm with it and commanding.

Putting her hand back over the broom she let her mind clear of all over things but the image of the broom floating up into her hands. "UP" she demanded this time the broom lifted upwards and she immediately caught it.

She felt like doing a jig right there but she didn't. She just beamed, looked over to Gideon and smiled. "Thanks!" And then she did as the Professor her head of house had said.

She mounted the broom straddling it, both of her feet firmly on the ground. Both of her hands held firmly on the broom's neck. So she was wrong, these things could hear them?

That was WICKED!

"Yer welcome," Gideon replied watching as she did as he suggested with her broom. And thankfully it worked for her the second time around. He simply nodded at Mika's second round of thanks before leaving her be, stepping back so he could catch up now that the younger girl was settled on her own broom. With a smooth move of his leg, he mounted his broom before patiently awaited Vindictus' go-ahead.

"When I give the command, you'll push off from the ground and you'll be airborne," Vindictus said and he popped the rest of the cookie into his mouth.

Crunch, crunch.

"Fly around for a bit and try not to hit anyone or a tree. Smashing into a tree isn't good for you. It'll ruin my precious brooms and permanently mess up your face. But swallowing bugs isn't that good either, but they are teensy bits of protein so it's not so bad after getting past the weird taste in your mouth. However, it's worse when they fly up your nostrils . . . . Now where was I?"

Pause.

"That's right. Flying." Vindictus took out his silver whistle and held it up to his lips.

OOC: Have fun flying around. First years shouldn't be perfect on a broom - have some fun 'cause I know that there are quite a few older students who will assist your character. If you weren't around for the first few steps, jump in and don't say that you arrived late (if you do, you'll automatically lose 5 points even if you edit your post to change the arriving late bit). To earn participation points for this part of the lesson, you should have at least 6 creative RP posts that are longer than 6 short sentences (give me details; entertain me!) I'll resume with the next part of the lesson around 7pm EST tomorrow when I get home from work. Happy RPing!

Tay looked at her head of house. Avoid bugs and trees... okay. She pushed off the ground and into the air. Taylor did a few spins, in excitement to be flying. Tay looked over to see how Damon was doing since he hated flying and was only here because she forced asked him to. Taylor laughed and smiled, flying up a few feet and stopping, going parallel to the ground. She looked around the pitch with a big grin on her face, despite having a horrid week.

Minerva couldn't help but laugh at herself when he said about the trees. She had been practicing and hit a tree only a few weeks ago. It hurt horribly and she was just feeling lucky that she didn't get seriously injured. Then he blew his whistle, she pushed off the ground and was in the air. Minerva looked around to see how the other students were doing. They seemed to be doing okay. She realized there didn't seem to be many younger students in the class, that was odd she felt, but not her problem now was it. So she leaned forward and began to fly towards the middle of the pitch. Slowing her self she leaned towards her right and turned to go towards the side of the pitch. She remembered her first time falling off and hitting the hitting the netting below. She was thrilled to be more comfortable now with her broom.

Alyssa was happy when the Professor finally gave them the okay to kick off and at the blow of his whistle, she kicked off from the ground, leaned forward on her broom and pointed her handle upwards.

She was finally in the air and she was headed up as high as she could. She continued soaring up and up until she was at least 50 feet off the ground. From where she was, she could see the part of the Hogwarts grounds. She could see the Groundskeeper hut and even the Magical Creatures Sanctuary. Alyssa pulled back slowly on her broom handle and leveled out.

She just floated above the ground and looked down at the other students flying below her. This is where she belonged.

Oichi listened to the professor say things to avoid and Oichi could not help but chuckle. Oichi really did not think flying could be all that hard. When Oichi heard the whistle which the professor specified was the signal for takeoff Oichi kicked off the ground. She went rushing into the air. OMG, THIS IS AWESOME. As she contnued to fly higher Oichi started to lose some control and the broom began to shake and Oichi pushed the broom downward and found herself hurdling toward a tree, "HELP, SOMEONE PLESE HELP ME!!!".

Nigel was waiting patiently for the professor to blow the whistle. He was excited to finally fly in this class. So when he started to rise off the ground the broom would rise and not move where he wanted it to go. "YUCK, THAT WAS DISGUSTING" Nigel shouted, a little bug got in his mouth it was disgusting, but did not taste that horrible. This was information he would save for later when another bug got in his mouth. He still could not get the broom to move left or right it just did not want to.

Taylor, after a moment of peace and watching the others from her point, started to fly again. She weaved in and out of the posts and flew as high as she was allowed to. Tay kept an eye on Damon though, in case he might need help. She doved down, into a spirl and pulled up just in time to avoid crashing. Taylor loved doing that because it caused a thrill of danger. She had gotton bruises and broken bones by doing it a few times though, but this time she had gotton it right. Tay looked over at the firsties and was happy she wasnt the only older one around. Taylor watched Alyssa and Minerva for a few moments before shooting up again. She stopped and became parellel to the ground again. Tay twisted so that she would be hanging upside down.

Mika felt her eyes bug out when she heard Professor Vindictus say not to hit a tree. Had anyone ever actually hit a tree while flying in the quidditch pitch? She'd think maybe hitting the pitch or the goals might be more...well, might happen more often then not.

Pushing off from the ground she felt herself begin to raise into the air.

GULP.

She was a littler nervous - well more than a little. It was when she realized Vindictus had brought up bugs - bugs being eaten and inhaled and flying up your nostrils. Ewwwie.

She began to raise higher and higher and higher. She was Really high - no, she wasn't but she thought she was. She was really just two feet off of the ground.

"Don't you bugs get any ideas" she glared at the air in front of her. She didn't want bugs up her nose. Nope, not at all.

After much anger and effort Nigel could finally get his broom to move where he wanted it to go. This broom seemed to hate him and would not listen to him. It was nothing like the broom he used during Quidditch try-outs. He started to fly around a bit and loved it, it was his place to be just him and a broom. After flying around he finally got rid of the taste of that bug. He was making a conscious effort to keep his mouth shut so no bug can get in his mouth again. Even with the effort the broom would not stop now. OH Batman another problem Nigel will have to solve.

Taylor saw a first year screaming for help and sighed. She flip back up and zoomed over to the firstie. "Pull up!" Tay pointed upwards trying to help the girl. Taylor bit her lip, worried that the girl might crash. She did a big circle around the girl so that she wont fall off, trying to help the newbie. "Pull up but not too much, least you fall off!" Come on, little firstie, come on.... Tay didnt even know the girl but she was worried about her, remembering the first time she flew too. Taylor blinked away the memory and gestured to go up again.

Minerva was looking around to decide where to fly to next when she saw Alyssa. She leaned her broom a little to the left and leaned forward to fly closer to where Alyssa was sitting idle at the moment. She wondered if she would want to fly together for the time being. "Hey Alyssa want to do a fly around the pitch?" She smiled at her friend and leaned forward to start down towards the one end of the pitch. She looked back to see if Alyssa was going to follow or try to catch up. She knew Alyssa was a better flyer then her, she proved that at Quidditch tryouts. So it shouldn't be to wrong if Min got a head start, right.

Once everyone had their brooms in hand, and after she had given her little lion a quick thumbs up, Kurumi mounted her broom and nervously waited for the signal to kick off. Ug...Merlin... this was the one thing about being at Hogwarts that she did not miss. Most people thought she was insane for being afraid of flying after she had played Seeker for two terms....but sometimes life threw curve balls at you that made you doubt yourself and sent you with such a shock that...well...things happened.

Flying was one of those.

Once Professor Vindictus blew the whistle, Kurumi bent her knees and held her breath for a moment. Oh MERLIN. Kurumi then kicked off the ground reluctantly and hovered somewhere around 10 feet. Yep...niiiiiiiiiiiiice and comfortable right around here....
Or not....

Kurumi pulled up on her broom, rising into the air quickly and reluctantly until she was somewhere...well, Kurumi didn't want to think about how high she was at the moment. "Oichi!" she called. "You need to tell your broom what to do." Not shout in everyone's general direction. Kurumi swerved herself so that she was glided along side the girl...towards the tree. MERLIN WAS SHE INSANE. "Pull up on your broom, slowly, and imagine it coming to a stop..."

Heh. Look at her talking like she knew what she was doing. Not.

Because...if the first year didn't do that...they the two of them were going to crash into the tree. Kurumi took a glance ahead at the oncoming tree and attempted to smile at the first year. Like...NOW would be a good time to pull up on the handle of her broom, yes?

Oichi saw a girl circle around her and she closed her eyes bracing herself for impact with either thegirl, the tree, or both. She kept going foward and then heard a girl tell her to pull up lightly and she did just that and suddenly she was back on track. Sje smiled as she flew past the girl who she almost certain had just helped her avoid disaster, "Thank You", Oichi called out to her.

Nigel was just getting the hang of this broom when another problem appear from this broom. Nigel was really starting to think seriously that this broom hates him. Now that this broom wont stop, Nigel had to pull up as hard as he could which should have worked but for this broom it was only a slight set back.

Once Nigel pulled up it took him with it. "OH Batman" he suddenly pulled down as fast as he could and leveled out. All this work just to fly two feet in the air. Nigel had to work out a plan to fly normally with this broom.

Alyssa floated high above the rest of the students but then decided that she would fly down and join the rest of them. So she leaned forward on her broom and pointed her broom handle downwards. As she flew down, she decided to try some zig zag movements with her broom.

Leaning to the left, she manoevred her broom to fly to the left and then she quickly leaned to the right and pointed her broom handle to the right and her broom switched direction to the right. She repeated this motion back and forth and laughed. This would definitely be a good thing to try out during Quidditch practice. She would have tried the Wronksi Feint but she knew that the Professor would have a fit and yell at her if she even attempted that move.

So for now, she was happy zigzagging her way down to the level of the other students until she spotted Minnie flying on her own.

Taylor laughed and smiled, "Anytime." She shot upwards as far as she could and surveyed the pitch. Tay flew back to the center. She then started to zigzag around it. Taylor wasnt really paying attention to the professor right now since she was more focused on not crashing or hitting anything. Tay practiced her turns and spins. She wished that there was a quaffle, snitch or a bludger zooming about but alas it was not to be since this was a learning how to fly day. The balls would of made it more entertaining but more dangerous... Taylor kept an eye on the girl that she helped out, to make sure that she wasnt headed for another tree...

Right...crashing into a tree is really bad.

Though it wasn't like there were any trees around to have to really worry about, unless one happened to fly out of bounds and hopefully one would be stopped before that happened. The first threat...the crashing into other people, even swallowing bugs was far more likely. But then in that case you also had both parties NOT want to crash so both parties din their best not to.

Why were we thinking about crashing and swallowing bugs anyway? The sixth year shook his head lightly to wipe the thought from his mind. With the whistle blown, Gideon kicked off from the ground, guiding his broom up into the sky.

Ah to be airbourne!

Minerva saw Alyssa and motioned for her to come towards the end of the pitch. She leaned forward again and then began to lean left and right to make little zig zags. This could help her if she actually made the team again this year. She slowed to a stop to see if Alyssa had caught up yet smiled at her friend "So want to practice a bit together?" She leaned left to go towards the opposite side of the pitch. "Want to head that way for awhile?"

Minerva leaned forward and began to head towards the pitch, she wanted to do bigger zig, zags so she leaned harder this time to both sides. As her broom was going smoothly she began to cough letting go of the broom with one hand she put her hand to her chest. Coughing and coughing she couldn't stop. Finally she was able to spit the stupid bug out of her mouth. "Well I was going to yell back at you, but I guess the bugs are telling me not to." She laughed towards Alyssa.

And that was her cue. With a rather determined face, the Ravenclaw kicked hard from the ground and the next thing she knew, she was already high up in the air, along with her classmates, a few doing their best to stay on their brooms while others merrily zigzagging to and fro. She wasn't really in the mood for any showing off, so she just maneuvered her school broom around, making a circle.

Then she saw a Ravenclaw boy (Meizzner), he seemed familiar. Hmmm..oh! She saw her on the team's tryouts. He was a fair flyer, but what really got her attention was that he seemed to have swallowed a bug.

EWWW.

Beezus pulled her school broom's handle and flew towards him, "Hey..did you eat a bug?" she asked, chuckling.

Oichi smiled at the girl as she resonded back and then flew off and did all these crazy flips and turns. Oichi watched as her brrom was on a slow controled stroll. Wow, how the? What the? Dang! Oichi then noticed the girl was watching her she flew toward her and asked, "How on Earth do you do all that with a broom? Could you teach me some broom control?", Oichi asked the girl in a voice that showed she was astounded by her.

Tay stopped her broom a little abruptly and started in a nose dive. Crap! She came out of the nose dive, barely and stared up at the first year. Taylor flew back up to her and went into a slow stroll beside her. Tay caught her breath from the small fright. "Well, i have been flying for a bit longer. I am a third year." She laughed and smiled, "I'm Taylor by the way." Taylor nodded, "Yeah i could teach you some if you want." Tay looked at the girl, "You want to lean a little but not too much so that you would be going down." She shifted from her sitting to the leaning bit to show the girl. "Make sure your grip is tight but not tight enough to cause your knuckles to turn white." Taylor adjusted her grip. "Then gently push your broom to the side you want to go but make sure not too much or your broom will fly dangerously." Tay did a turn to show the girl.

Nigel was just getting over the taste of the horrible bug that was in his mouth and his broom that seemed to hate him. But he got it sorted out after some trial and error. He turns in the air and saw Beezus waving at him and stopping in front of him.

She ask if he ate a bug. "Um yeah, not on of my proudest moments but i forgot to close my mouth when i took off in the air and of course a bug would go into my mouth and it was disgusting". Nigel could understand why it was funny since it did not even happen at tryouts when he was catching the golf balls in the wind

At the sound of the whistle, Silvia pushed off the ground and rose twenty feet into the air. It felt wonderful to be airborne; she could do this all day if she had the time. After taking a moment to enjoy the feeling, she directed the broom forward and upward slightly, flying at a steady pace down the pitch. She took a deep breath, enjoying the sensation of the wind. Even if she didn't play quidditch, she would definitely have to get her own broom sometime. Making her way down the pitch, Silvia increased her speed a little, then gradually slowed down as she reached the other end. Turning around slowly, she began to make her way back up the pitch.

Or...erm....not....

Pulling up on her own broom now to come to a stop, Kurumi simply hovered there in place as everyone else zoomed around her. At least the first year hadn't crashed into a tree. That was the important thing after all. A small part of her missed those days where she too would zoom around on her broom without a care and performing zigzag patterns. Maybe even throw in a few tricks here and there...whatever those fancy names were that Selina had always tried to quiz her on. Kurumi shivered while perched on her broom and nearly lost her balance. Focus, Hollingberry, focus.

Not that falling right now would be too terrible a thing. She wasn't THAT high off the ground just yet.

Looking down at the pitch at Professor Vindictus for a moment, Kurumi suddenly had the urge to pinch her nose with her one hand, you know, to prevent any bugs from flying up it like the man had suggested not happen. It was then that Kurumi spotted a butterfly. Oh! That was a nice bug! Smiling, Kurumi decided to follow it as it zigged and zagged across the pitch, finding herself slightly memorized by its peacock appearance. The perfect leaned forward on her broom again and began to glide after the pretty bug.

Follow the butterflies follow the butterflies....weeeeeeeeee!
