Alice noticed a girl who she recognized as Sky from the sorting and approached her. "The name is Walker. Alice Walker." Alice said, trying to sound like that James Bond muggle.

"I hope we do!" Amethyst's long, black fell into her face as she giggled softly.

Eris grinned that they had reached the subject of Quidditch, "I'd love to be a beater!" she exclaimed with her blueish-grey eyes lighting up with a look that could almost be described as infatuation before they shrank with a fallen face. "Though...that not really a position given to girls I guess..." she added with a grimace that didn't last long as the subject of Hufflepuff came up.

"I might have to befriend some Hufflepuffs then, but how do we get to them?" the small witch mused looking over at the Ravenclaw table in wonderment.

Eris had to take a moment to think about the last subject Alice brought up. Maybe it really was a glitch with the hat.

"The hat didn't really tell me anything..." Eris began slowly as she thought about this strange occurance that no one else seemed to have. "I don't even think it touched my head when it shouted Slytherin...but then again...he had a lot of kids to go through, so I'm sure he was trying to quicken the pace" Eris laughed decisivly, though in the back of her mind she wondered if she was meant to be something such as a Ravenclaw as well.

"So you must be very clever then...clever and cunning" Eris chuckled "A good pair of things, that is"

"Extremely" Eris fully conceded as it felt like they had been in the great hall for hours, and at eleven she did have a bed time before she came here. Picking up her goblet she drank some more pumpkin juice in hope of staying awake. "Good food and a fulls stomach paired with a late night does not make for staying up easily....."

"Ooo, yes actually..." Eris grimaced at the one thing she wasn't very proud of when it came to her house. "Professor Lafay came over...and there was a bunch of drama going on at the table. So she deducted house points from three of the girls causing us to be in the position we are in." the little tomboy responded solemnly.

'We will get the back though" she grinned with determination, "I bet it."

"I'm Eris by the way...a first year as well" she greeted running a had through her dark hair, and stretching out the other for a handshake.

And of course Evelyn was going to try and get out of it on technicalities. Typical Slytherin. "You know what I meant Evelyn." But it didn't matter anymore she had said that she wouldn't say anything to anyone unless she felt it necessary.

You know...for Evelyn's sake.

Mia tipped Evelyn a shadow of a wink. "Maybe just a little but I think that side of me was always there."


Oh! OH! So now Destiny was threatening not to talk to her. Yeah right. "Pfft...you can't help yourself. You spend all day, everyday flapping those gums." How many times had she threatened not to talk to her when they were on safari only to start up a conversation five minutes later?

Destiny Shepard could talk underwater with a watermelon in her mouth.

The look on her friends face was absolutely priceless. It went from being hoplessly pathetic to horrified in two seconds flat. Mia moved Arnold away from her and giggled uncontrollably.

"Are you saying that you pick your nose Destiny Shepard?"

Should she tell her that her nose was NOT actually bleeding.

Audrey laughed and took a piece of coffee-looking cake. Hopefully this will keep her up. "Have you ever tried Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans?" she asked randomly thinking about the flavours she had experienced before...some being not so pleasant.

"Ehhhh" Eris began giving a weary look that was a pretty obvious hint to if she had tried them or not. "A whole package once..." she continued shaking her head in memory, "I guess it wasn't the best idea...but I was really curious...and they do seem to be every flavor"

"My second choice would be a Beater. Quite an outlet for frustration, being able to whack a Bludger." Alice laughed. "I read in Hogwarts: A Revised History that about 100 years ago a 1st Year named Harry Potter got on the team as a Seeker. If he can manage that, you can surely be a Beater. Girl or not. Sometimes i worry I'm too tiny to be a Chaser and are more suited as a Seeker."

Alice giggled. "You're looking at the wrong side. The Hufflepuffs are on this side." she pointed over to a wooden table with about 150 students. A yellow banner with a Badger hung proudly over them. she noticed a small group laughing. They did seem friendly. "Maybe we have some classes with them."

Alice knew asking about the sorting might have been too personal. "Maybe you're such a Slytherin, that the Hat knew it right away. I'm sure the hat makes no mistakes."

"Hi! I'm Sky Carter-Hope," she replied smiling at Alice's James Bond impersonation. "You've seen James Bond?" It was her father's favorite movie and he had made Sky watch every one 10 times each.

"Nice to meet you, Eris," Sky replied, shaking the girl's hand. "I'm sure you're right about getting the points back. So, where are you from?"

Maria smiled. "Okay" she said, smiling. She looked away. "You never met me in Italy though" she said.

Lorelai listened again. "At least you managed to change. Some people can't and never will" she replied. Like her.

Ashley seemed a little sad that Eris hadn't gotten to go on those trips, even though that really didn't affect him at all. Well, except that perhaps she would have exciting stories to tell if she had gone. It was a bit of a selfish thought, that one, but he couldn't help it. Not that it mattered any, though. This was already an interesting enough conversation. Seriously. Weird little books with still, dead pictures in them, that had to be taken all over over the world. Somewhere in the back of his brain, he thought about asking if he could get his hands on something like that one day, but honestly, it sounded a bit creepy. Maybe someday.

"Oh, I've been to Korea," he said, brightening up, just because something he was somewhat familiar with had been mentioned. "Did you ever learn any of those languages? You might still get to go one day," he added with a small nod.

Maria smiled a little. "I think everyone can change, its just whether they put the effort in it to change or not" she said. Did that make sense?

"I just did some useful and simple charms. Wanna see?" Then she took her wand and show her "Lumos!" Her wand produced a luminous light. Then she swished her wand to turn off the light.

Another freshgirl wanted to know her. Raven smiled to her and said.

"Raven Charlotte. Its a pleasure to see you." Then both of them shook hands.

Audrey noticed the weary look and understood. She had done the same thing to. (Though she swore never to again.) Instead she decided to change the subject, when the memory of the vomit flavour came to her mind. "Do you like Quidditch?"

Felicity held her head up high as she walked towards the stool that held the rather ragged Sorting Hat, though her knees felt weak due to her nerves. "Calm down, it's just a hat!" She reprimanded herself sternly, and sat carefully on the stool as the sorting hat was placed upon her head, dropping over her eyes. It seemed to take quiet awhile for the Sorting Hat to make up it's mind, though it must have been only a minute or two since she had sat down. Her back was ramrod straight at she waited. "Hm..now that is very interesting.." The Sorting Hat spoke, and it took all the will power she had not to startle. "Whats interesting?" She thought in a curious tone. "I daresay you will find out through your house." The Sorting Hat responded vaugely before shouting, "SLYTHERIN!"

Felicity felt the hat being lifted from her head, and she stood up shakily and made her way to the table that was applauding her. "Green and silver..well, those are not bad colors I suppose." She thought tenatively as she took a seat next to another girl who looked friendly enough. Her gaze traveled the hall for a moment, looking at the other house tables. She had pieced together which house was which, and as she looked over her own table, she saw nothing odd. There was rather a lot of talk about "purebloods" which she didn't understand, but her attention was soon back on the Sorting Hat, making her forget her confusion.

Lorelai shrugged. She didn't see a point in changing. She was happy the way she was and she wasn't going to change for anybody. "Depends which way you look at it" she replied.

Marilyn rolled her eyes at Mia...seriously? Whatever...



When the Headmaster began talking, Marilyn shut her mouth and listened with rapt attention. Perhaps he'd shed some light as to why everything was in disarray...

Busy summer? He was asking them to THANK the elves...Well, Marilyn supposed that wasn't too bad. They had done a lot for her in the past...whether or not their behavior now was off par. Having to clean her own silverware, however, was disturbing. At least the elf had gotten around to cleaning everyone elses...

When he began talking about the teachers, there was an air of mystery. They sounded...brilliant...and Marilyn was secretly EXCITED to get back in the classroom. Especially Potions.

FOOD! Thank Merlin!

Smirking, she pulled a plate, still feeling slightly cautious because of the disastrous state they were in beforehand. Did cleaning spells disinfect? Marilyn would hate to catch some deadly disease because she was too hungry to NOT eat.

Desiree stared in amazement as light came out of the end of her wand and with one swish it was gone. "Oh wow" It's not like she'd never seen it before, but she'd never done it herself. Deciding to try she took her own wand out and gave it a swish "Lumos" nothing. she frowned and tried again. "Lumos!" she said with a little more force and a dim light shown from the tip of her wand. She smiled at her accomplishment. That was the first spell she had ever done with her own wand. "I bet we'll be learning a lot of new spells this year, I just can't wait for classes to start."

Maria shrugged. "But of course, everyone has there own personal opinions" she said.

"Thanks, I'm Mickey." She stated before sitting down. Mickey kept looking down the length of the table to see if she could find Fai, but she was no where too be found. When she gave up the sent of the food distracted her and she looked at one of the plates infront of her "Is that American chopsewie?"

Lorelai smiled slightly. Dang it. She was right. Again. "Thats a good point" she repled.

He put his hands in his lap and started to pick at this nails. He looked down.
“Huh? No…” said Melchior. He wasn’t expecting the girl to ask him the question in return.
“I’m actually half and half.” This was so perilously awkward. He did not want to talk about his father, especially not his mother. He continued to look down.
“You said you are muggleborn, correct? Were your parents pleased to hear about you ‘abilities’?” he asked, hoping he wasn’t going too far.

Maria smiled and turned FINALLY to the food. She took a look at the dishes and silverware and her appetite disappeared. Nope. Not hungry anymore.

Raven saw Desiree's wand who produce light "Wow, nice try! You just need more practice at charm class. I can't wait how fun the classes are! But, to turn it off, just say 'Nox'"

She took her cup and drank some, then she continued her talk with Desiree.

"Adler had taught me some simple but useful charms, but I failed some of them " She laughed

"Mmm yeah you've got a point there - you can always ask questions if you need to. My problem - I tend not to when I probably-no most definitely should." She sighed slightly as she said this it was hard being overly honest about things. Deep down the naging feeling - the push to live dangerously on the edge was creeping forth. But like a good little Ravenclaw - she was trying not to act.

"Exactly - sharing the load would make it so much easier for them...but I do know some house elves get offended - I just hope they don't think we think they aren't doing a good job and therefore punish themselves - or even try to." She sighed. Now that was a lot to handle on one simple breath.

Almost gasping for air she had to stiffle the yawn - the sound that escaped was almost more a moan than a groan. Yawning and shighing sometimes did that to you. Her cheeks flushed pink as the sound escaped her lips. Furtively she glanced at the table that was now topped with clean silverware. She was trying to calm her nerves by thinking of Nimma, and Pips, and Quirly - and all those lovely little self abusive house elves. But it didn't work.

The dungeon dragon deep inside the recesses of her mind was coming out to play whether she liked it or not. "Sooo" she smirked, "who is it you are staring off at?" She asked, glancing over to the staff table she saw some students talking to the staff. Maybe she was pushing to fast to friendship but she knew no one - except for Jack Rose and right now she wasn't talking to Jack. She furtively glanced back to Matt - smirking softly she quickly spoke "well...don't just stare - go and talk to her...or call her over!"
