Don't think about this anymore, just keep trying not to make a massive fool of yourself here since it's all going swimmingly right now. Wow.. was that actually helpful social commentary? "Hmm.. that is a good point, they did look really good together in any point." As far as he knew though, neither of them were single and it wasn't his business to know that.. even if they were, he wasn't playing matchmaker since that really would have been weird. At least Raven's not involved here, you know how bad that would end up being right? Of course it would be bad, any time relationship matters were left to his cousin; she really made a mess of things and then he ended up being involved. "I've got a random question here, merely out of curiosity's sake; when is your birthday?" Clearly he wanted to know that so he could plan a little something, obviously it wasn't going to be unnecessary since he wasn't the type to do that.
After she spoke again, he couldn't help but stop all thoughts and just look at her for a second before he decided to speak again; huh that definitely wasn't what he thought that she was going to say but it had made things all that much more interesting. "Umm.. maybe? I guess I thought that I should have asked before since I didn't want to make things awkward with us again. The past few months have been practically a roller coaster and it's made me realize that what we have here is more than just friendship. Even if this doesn't amount to anything." In the end, the truth was that he wanted her to be his girlfriend; of course he wasn't about to say that since it would probably come out wrong and just really cause things to be weird which wasn't what he was looking to have happen. | That hadn't even occurred to Stella, although as she thought about what matt had said, the idea that it might have just been the distraction of the dance keeping her from having thought of the idea. Either way, she blinked before replying. "I hadn't even said anything like that. Just that neither one of them looked like they were exactly comfortable being told to teach us all how to dance," she pointed out, still trying to concentrate on the dance steps so she wouldn't get lost. But then, at least she wasn't having to deal with leading, which was totally appropriate for the waltz. Of course, it seemed liek Matt wasn't really thinking a lot about leading either, and she'd given him a curious look as he came out with another question. Why does he want to know when my birthday is?, she wondered, even as she decided it didn't really hurt to tell him. Friends knew each other's birthdays, after all, and he was that if not more. "My birthday is in the end of July. The 20th, actually. Why?" She couldnt help but ask, even as she had an inkling that he wasn't going to tell her. Maybe it really had just been a random question, even if it was an odd choice.
Of course, any possibility she could distract herself from how close she was to Matt, due to the dancing, was shattered by his other question. The one she'd outwardly brushed off, even teased him a little about, but that had actually really and truly surprised her. She'd meant her question, though, as Ethan had never really asked. That just, really, explained why she was even contemplating getting back into anything; the fact Matt was nothing like her ex. And his answer did amuse her a little, even through the awkwardness of the moment. What he'd said made sense. "Why do we need to wonder if this will amount to nothing? Maybe it actually will mean something," she pointed out softly. If whatever they had was more than just a simple friendship, which she'd suspected even before the hate potion incident, then as far as she could consider, there wasn't a point in destroying it before it actually was anything. But then, she was confusing herself with her internal debate, and even trying to focus on the waltz again wasn't working. Hopefully Matt would understand what she was trying to say, and it wouldn't get even more confusing. |
