A great number of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves fill the library, creating rows and aisles of books available for students to read and check out. When returning books to the higher shelves, just hold up the tome and the shelves will take care of the rest; there's a spell on the shelves which summons the returned book to the correct place. Of course, when retrieving a book, they don't 'know' what you're looking for, so those who aren't yet accomplished in the use of the Summoning Charm may use one of the sliding ladders that move around from bookcase to bookcase.
In front of each set of shelves is a small desk. Students can sit at these desks to complete homework or copy down notes and book references. Be aware that other students may need to access books above you… so mind your head.
You can find any book here that's appropriate for all school years, so browse to your heart's content.

Maxwell felt less awkward now that he wasn't the only awkward one. "You can sit out if You'd like. Although most of my friends are gryffindors. I only have a few that aren't."
"So do you think it'd be best for me to sit out this one!?"
"So do you think it'd be best for me to sit out this one!?"
Maxwell smiled. He wasn't sure what this girl was really about. Did she want to get him in trouble? Did she just want to make friends? Did she..."LIKE" Him? He wasn't sure but he'd like to find out. "That's entirely up to You. Although I'm not really sure what We're doing yet." Maxwell said sounding very confused.

"well when you know let me know okay?" Ariana walked out of the library & into the hall

"Ok." Maxwell managed to say...What an odd girl. He had no idea whether or not to trust her with his own safety let alone his friends. He would have to see.
Desiree didn't like reading at all, she always lost interest.. SO why was she in the library of all places you might ask? She was here out of necessity. The quicker she got out of here, the better. It was the young witch's first time in here and she started scanning the book shelves for what she was looking for.. Gah there were soo many books! Just another reason to not like libraries, couldn't they find a better way to organize things..? She had to admit though the stained glass windows on the side were amazing, and the library had that same grandeur to match the rest of the castle. She passed a few antique books which might have even interested her, if she had felt like reading them.
Sighing she opened up a maroon velvet covered book, she skimmed through the pages. Nope. Slamming the book gently shut she moved on to the next one. She repeated the process several times, looking for the potions book her sister had mentioned in her last letter. Liliana had said it would be really helpful this year.. plus it was potions, so Desiree might even enjoy it. Seeing the word 'potions' eloquently written across a nice beige one, she snatched it off the shelf grinning slightly.
In her excitement she managed to lose her grasp on it, it was pretty big. It fell to the floor with a thud, with one of the pages ripped down the middle. Oh great now you've done it Desiree. She crouched down on the ground pulling the two sides together as if she could will them together again. Should she hide it, no that would be dishonest.. She couldn't tell the librarian though. Slytherin could lose MORE house points for her clumsiness. Instead she decided to wait for someone to come along who was nice enough to help her, because of course someone would.
Gwedolyn walked quickly along the corridor, finally arriving in front of the large library door. Making no noise, the young Ravenclaw swung the door open, and entered the library. Ah, yes! One of my favourite places at Hogwarts!, she thought while taking a deep breath. Walking towards the bookshelves, Spotting the huge black book about Potions she had already read, the young ravie smirked and went on searching for some interesting books. Maybe I’ll read ‘Fantastic Beasts and where to find them’, like Jory suggested, she thought, but was almost sure that wouldn’t be the book she would pick.
Glimpsing at an enormous book nearby, Gwendolyn pulled it from the shelve and examined it’s cover, then checked out how thick it was. Why do I always have to pick only the huge ones? Can’t I read normal-sized books, like NORMAl people do? Nope, I have to be the crazy one… She then opened the book and flipped the pages rapidly. She frowned and placed it back on the shelve. Maybe some other time… it doesn’t seem that interesting! Moving on…
Spotting a girl holding one of her favourite Potion books ever, Gwendolyn lightened up. Walking closer to the girl, the second year thought she might be even nice to her. Why not? However, noticing the other student let the book fall on the floor, Gwendolyn frowned.
WHAT DID SHE JUST DO?!?!??! O______________________o
Ugh… these first years, incapable of doing anything right!, she thought, approaching the girl rappidly. ‘Ehem’, she only said, to make her presence obvious. Taking her wand out of her pocket, the ravie pointed it at the book and said: ‘Re-PAR-oh’Loud and clear!‘There…’,she went on talking, looking at the girl. Should I make an effort and be nice to you?, Gwen asked herself. Meh…
Ryan was wandering around the bookshelves when he found the book he wanted. He looked at it interersting hmmmmm he thought. He shruged it off and went and sat down
Rosalie had been studying at a desk when she relazied it would be the perfect time to practice her spells for Transfiguration. She opened her bag and put all ther other school things into it and took out her wand and Transfiguration parchment. After deciding to practice Ristaris first she grabbed her wand and tapped her head. She said "Ris-TAR-is!" forcfulling and adding extra emphisis on the tar and thinking really hard about the color red. She took the mirror out of her bag to see if she finally got the color right. "YES!" The people in the asile looked out her strange but she couldn't keep her excitement in, she finally got her color right. It was a dull, light red but it was still red. She put the mirror down on the desk top and said the counter-spell, "Int-ar-is." She looked at a lock of her again glad to see the fimiliar blonde color. "Fel-in-tas!" She said and tapped her head once and focused on a bob. She put her wand on the table and picked up the mirror, "well, this one hairstyle I defiently can not do!" She giggled quitely and tapped her head twice with the words "Int-ar-is" while focusing on her orginal length and style. She look at her hair, she had never been so glad to see her natural hair before. "It's like beauty school but I can change my horrfic hair back." Rosalie let out another laugh and packed up her stuff. She left the library saying the spells in her head.

Tiffany walked through every roll of book shelves in the library, trying to find a book about astronomy that would help her with her acknowledgement of it and also she could answer the questions quickly and correctly during astronomy lessons. She scanned at the book shelves and found a book that was suitable for her. She was glad.

Desiree was starting to think she should just turn the book in to the librarian.. when someone cleared their throat behind her. Oh no, someone's going to yell at me for breaking their precious book.. turning around she realized it was just a student. She let out a sigh of relief and smiled as the girl repaired the book for her.
"Oh, thank you so much!" she said sincerely running her hand over the reconnected page. "I had just lost my grip on the book, I was pulling it out, and it's really heavy you know.." she tried to explain, but stopped realizing she was rambling a bit. Putting the book back where she found it she looked over at the Ravenclaw. "I'm Desiree by the way, first year Slytherin." She probably didn't need to add that, especially since she was wearing a green tie, and it was probably just too easy to tell she was a clumsy little first year...

Sill raising her eyebrows, Gwendolyn looked at the girl, not sure if she should behave nicely. After having repaired the book she cared so much about, the young Ravenclaw glimpsed at the other student. Was that a sigh of relief?, the second year asked herself, looking a bit puzzled at the girl. Just because I helped her,it doeasn’t mean I am going to be nice to her!, she wanted to say, but didn’t.
‘No problem- ‘, she said curtly. ‘I won’t tell…’, Gwendolyn went on talking. O______o So this is one of the days when I’m actually nice, huh?, the young ‘Claw asked herself, waiting patiently for the girl to say something. Looking around, Gwendolyn read the titles of the books that lay on the closest shelve. Moving her right hand over their covers, she tried remembering what she was looking for. Hmmm… what was it?
Remembering that she was actually talking to someone, the girl turned aroung to the other student, and nodded, listening to her introducing herself. Desiree , the ravie repeated a few times in her head. I’ll try to remember your name , but I can’t promise anything!‘Gwen. Gwen Greene’, she replied smirking, while extending her hand. ‘Ravenclaw…’, she added curtly. Whoah! Stop right there! Did she just say… Slytherin?, Gwen asked herself, feeling her eyes going wiiide. Ah, the best house ever…! We might even get along…
‘Sooo…’, she begann saying, feeling that the conversation might get a bit boring for Desiree. ‘Are you looking for something particular?’
Kelly walked through the book shelfs, deciding on what to read today. She decided to read Hogwarts, A History again to refresh her mind. That book always calms her when she freaks about anything. Including being noticed.

Desiree nodded a bit, but didn't say anything. Well she was glad she wasn't going to tell anyone, that would be bad. She watched the girl looking at the books, probably looking for a certain one like she was. Right I still need to find that..
But it could wait, she was still talking to the girl, it was the least she could do after she fixed the book. Even if it meant she had to stay in the library longer. Then the girl introduced herself ,Gwen, a nice name.. but she didn't miss the smirk, it wasn't a mean smirk exactly, more of a friendly smirk. She shook the girl's hand "It's nice to meet you Gwen." she said sincerely because she meant it, the girl seemed nice enough, but Desiree wouldn't want to be on her bad side.
Ooh so she was in Ravenclaw, the second best house there was.. the same house her sister was in.. Desiree had actually thought she might end up there. But she figured the hat could tell she wasn't really smart enough. Oh well, it was true.
Giving Gwen a small smile.. "Well I was looking for this potions book my sister had recommended to me.. Something about herbs and fungi." she scanned the rows with her eyes "But I haven't been able to find it.." looking back up at Gwen she asked ".. What about you?"

''Hello,''Ryan whispered knowing it was the library.Hogwarts History,Good book.He pulled out his book.''Ryan,Whats your name?''

Katrina went to the library the next morning to borrow a book about Sleeping Draughts, which she has been quite interested in for a while.
She went to the Potions section and searched for books.
"Here!" she said as she grabbed two old and battered books. "'Advanced Potions for Beginners : A Guide to the World of Potion-Making' by D.P. Howard and 'Simple Cures and Draughts for the Wizards and Witches' by Rochelle York-Tanner.
"I must borrow,"
Desiree nodded a bit, but didn't say anything. Well she was glad she wasn't going to tell anyone, that would be bad. She watched the girl looking at the books, probably looking for a certain one like she was. Right I still need to find that..

So- do you fit in the category of ‘dumb first years who can’t do anything right’ too?, the second year thought looking at the other girl, almost sure she wasn’t like the rest of them. At least she found the library… she actually wanted to come here… she can’t be dumb, the young Ravenclaw tried convincing herself, and hoping she would be nice to Desiree.
Shaking the girl’s hand, Gwendolyn grinned. ‘Nice to meet you too’, she went on talking, trying to sound nice. Meh, if she’s going to hate me, I can’t say I didn’t try to be polite…, the ravie thought and waited for Desiree to say something. After having mentioned she was in Ravenclaw, she stared at the girl, but couldn’t tell if that was a ‘wow. Really?’ look or one more like ‘eh… so what?’. Awkwaaaaard…
‘Right’, Gwen smirked and rushed towards a shelve, quite close to the section with Herbology stuff. ‘Pam pam pam…’ she mumbled while searching for the book. She’d used it so many times ‘till now, she just had to find it. I know it’s here somewhere, she thought, still searching for it. Aha! Pulling the book out from the shelve, she smirked, checked out its cover, and then returned to Desiree. ‘Ehem’, Gwen only said, showing her the book.
Taking in consideration that there where way more interesting Potions books around, the second year wondered why she chose the one that had to do with Herbology too. Sure, you need to know where those ingredients come from, their properties, but still?‘So- why did you pick this book?’As in, you really think it sounds interesting, someone recommended it to you… need to use it for class?
Oh, what I am looking for.‘Never mind… I’m almost sure I’m not going to find iiiit….?’, she began saying, and just in that moment she spotted it! Staring at one of the red-covered books on the closest shelve, Gwendolyn pulled it out. Whaaaat!?‘Is this really it?’, she mumbled, staring at the cover. It waaaas!! I could start jumping around any moment by now…

Ariana saw another girl holding Advanced Potions For Beginners. She ran up to her and smiled. "Hi. Are you gonna borrow that? I was thinking of borrowing it too. But you can have it first if you want to. I'm Ariana by the way, and you are?" Ariana smiled and nodded at the girl.
Scott walked into the Library, keeping an eye out for Jez. She had just run off, rather than them walk to the Library together. He spotted the book he was looking for; A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration by Emeric Switch.
He grinned in satisfaction and walked over to it to pick it up.

Jez saw Scott pick a book off the shelves. She also spotted Life and Limb: What People Will Do For Magical Plants near it. She had two choices: accept that her paranoia was redundant and go get that book she'd been wanting for ages; or let that nervous streak take over and chicken out, go down to the lake instead, and do that staring-into-the-water thing she did.
She picked option A. At last, that sweet book about man-eating plants was hers!

After a while of reading the fascinating book on Transfiguration, Scott turned around to see Jez.
He gave her a smile and then walked over to her. "That's a good choice, my friend has a copy of that, very interesting..." he trailed off.

"Yep." Jez grinned. "Man-eating plants. Gotta love them." She looked at the book Scott was holding, and gave him a mock-stern stare. "Aren't we supposed to have that already?" She shook her head slowly, feigning extreme disappointment. "I'm ashamed." She tried to keep a straight face, she really did, but that area wasn't her strong point.

Scott grinned "There's a couple of people I could use one of those on" he said in a joking sinister tone. Scott became very embarrassed "Well, I err, I forgot to get that book" he looked down sadly, so much for being a Ravenclaw. He chuckled when he realized she was joking.

"The book could come in more use than I originally thought." Jez giggled. She was enjoying herself, and felt more relaxed with books around her. Oh, there was another one she'd been meaning to get. Jez plucked a worn-looking red leather-bound book with Potions Almighty embossed in peeling green letters on the front off the shelf just above Scott. She balanced it on her first book, and flicked through the pages. "Have you ever tried to brew Amortentia?" she asked nonchalantly. "It's so difficult - my older brother Keegan tried to last year, but it made the girl break out in terrible boils instead." Poor Andrea. "The smell is divine too. Like old books, and wand wood, and chocolate frogs ..." She stopped on another page. "Ageing Potion," she read out thoughtfully. "Hmm, I might try that one."

Scott giggled with her. He was such a girl!
He became interested when she pulled another book out, titled Potions Almighty Scott had grown to dislike Potions because of Professor Lafay, she was horrible to everyone.
"Amortentia...the l-love potion?" he had flashbacks of when he was in Diagon Alley and saw Louisa Carter, who at the time he didn't know, being passed a love potion in a bottle by a first year. He then flashed back to the Great Hall the day before, and he pieced everything together in his mind. Louisa must of given Dallin the love potion!
His vision coming back to him, he continued, startled. "No, I've never seen the need" he said with a straight face. "What's the point in trying to recreate something that is so free?" he hoped she would agree with him. "Also, it's wrong, no one should be forced to take something against their will, or unknowingly take it" he was getting heated.
He withdrew, and tried to not let his thoughts out. "But if you just mean brewing, then no, I haven't but I want to try it one day"
