"No," Lucas answered with a smile. "I actually have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm trying to look like I do. Is it working?" He took another step.

Kurumi giggled as she followed his lead, taking a few steps and pivoting for a slight turn. "I think it is," she nodded. "At least, I haven't stepped on your toes yet." Or fallen over.

Selina was running with her red hair flowing behind her. She reveled in the feeling of winning until Connor came right up beside, "Howdy stranger." He spoke about pacing and she scoffed, "Well come on then, let's-a-go!" She picked up speed again and found that she was in range of their ending destination. She looked at him and said, "Yeah me too, although I'm wildly mysterious, be warned."

"And I haven't stepped on yours," Lucas answered with a grin. "I'd say we're doing pretty well." He lifted his arm for her to turn, hoping it went as planned and didn't end with them falling over and dying or anything.

Connor smirked. "You're good Selina but not good enough." He smiled at her as he breezed past and up the terrace steps winning the race. He stretched to cool himself down and cast a silent aguamenti charm at his mouth giving himself a drink of water before offering some to her. He conjured them both water bottles and filled them then stopped the charm. Taking a seat on the steps he looked up at her and asked a question. "What did you mean you're wildly mysterious?" He asked curiously, leaning forward and stretching out his lower back.

Selina had to give it to him. In a matter of seconds he took the lead and won the race. He was good, no he was really good. And she had a lot of respect for people who did not back down, she hated the people who, when it was too hard, just gave up.

She took a sip of the water bottle and said, "Well you know, there is a whole lot of mystery under this dashingly attractive exterior."

Kurumi laughed and tossed her long black pony tail over her shoulder. Pretty well indeed. Her mind went back to the first dance she ever had. That had been at the costume ball her first year and one could hardly call it dancing. It was more like standing and nodding heads at one another to keep the beat. "For someone who says they have never done this before, I'd say you are a natural," she smiled as she felt her arm being lifted up in the air. She looked at hm curiously wondering if this was some sort of British form of dance where you walked around with your arms held high up in the air. Then she remembered a few fairy tale movies she had watched and her eyes widened. "OH! S-S-Sorry!" she squeaked as she twirled around once...then once more before returning to her first position and restng her hand on his shoulder.

Clinking his water bottle against hers he toasted, "here's to being more than just what people see." he tossed his head back and squirted more water into his mouth. Connor turned toward Selina, "I really like spending time with you my friend. I was wondering if you'd maybe want to grab lunch in Hogsmeade saturday, we could check out the joke shop and just hang out. Not a date but maybe even with a group of friends."

Lucas grinned yet again as Kurumi spun. He couldn't help thinking she was funny even when she wasn't trying to be (actually, make that especially when she wasn't trying to be). "That's alright," he said with a small laugh. A natural? Cool! "Well, thanks! I've never been a natural at anything. Maybe this'll impress the ladies," he joked.

Kurumi's shoulders relaxed a little as they continued to glide, or waddle - take your pick - around the terrace as the music continued to play. "I think your smile will impress them more," she giggled before her mouth dropped wide open and her cheeks flushed. The hand that had been on his shoulder flew to her mouth.

Awkward....really REALLY awkward.

"N-N-Not that you are a bad d-d-dancer or anything!" she squeaked returning her hand to his shoulder and turning her gaze towards the ground.

Lucas's face turned bright red, and he grinned. "You really think so?" He couldn't help but laugh a little bit at Kurumi's reaction to herself. She was so shy. It was sort of adorable. "I'm glad I haven't ruined my rep yet. My true dancing colors will probably show sooner or later..."

Ug. She really needed to pull herself together when she talked to older students especially ones with nice smiles. Although, Treyen could take them all. Catching on her own words, Kurumi simply nodded and her cheeked burned even more pink when she saw that he was blushing too.

Looking back up at Lucas and meeting his gaze, Kurumi cocked her head to the side like an owl. "True dancing colors?" she repeated raising her hand this time for him to spin.

"I'm probably going to trip or fall or something soon enough," Lucas said, "so you'll get to see what kind of dancer I really am." He grinned again. When Kurumi raised her hand for him to spin, he was a little surprised. He didn't know guys did that. Was there something he didn't know? Oh, well, spinning was fun, so who cared? He spun and then returned to his original position with his hand on her waist.

"Sounds like me on a broom," she said pouting her bottom lip a bit. Really, she was a mild disaster. A disaster that had gone from a hurricane to a heavy downpour thanks to a certain second year's coaching. She stood on her tipy toes as Lucas spun around under her arm. Maybe boy's didn't do that? Oh well, at least he had played along with it. When his hand found her waist again, Kurumi's eyes widened and she lost focus on where she was going for a moment.

But a moment was all it took.

"Kyaaa!"

Her foot slipped on a rock and she went sprawling forward, slamming herself into his chest.

"I don't believe you," Lucas said. "You can't be that bad, you made the Quidditch team!" He smiled at Kurumi, who was pouting a little. Things seemed to be going well for a moment until...

"WHOA!" Lucas stumbled backwards a little as Kurumi tripped into him. He grabbed her to make sure she didn't fall. "Are you alright?" he asked. They were standing really close, but he didn't want to let go until he was sure she'd gotten her balance back.

Kurumi was just about to protest that he hadn't seen her actually fly, when she felt his arms around her keeping her from pushing them both into a bush or the trunk of a tree. Although, the trunk of a tree probably wouldn't be so bad since it would help them balance. "I-I-I-I'm okay," she stammered not realizing that she was squeezing his hand and shoulder probably a little stronger than she really should be. "I g-g-guess I'm no Cinderella when it comes to this ballroom dancing." Understatement of the century.

She probably resembled a ripe strawberry at the moment, her face at least. Her hair...well...that was an entirely different story as its tips were turning a rather obnoxious combination of rosy pink and burnt orange.

"At least it wasn't me who tripped," Lucas joked with a smile, trying to ease Kurumi's embarrassment. "And I got to be the dashing knight who rescues the damsel in distress. It was a win/win if you ask me." He couldn't help but chuckle a bit at her bright red face... At least until he noticed... "Whoa," he repeated. "Did you know your hair could do that?" Okay, stupid question.

Kurumi wasn't sure if she felt any better or worse by his tripping comment, nor did she really consider herself much of a damsel. Well, now at least. If his comment would have been a few weeks go her knees probably would have buckled under her from embarrassment. Still, she found herself giggling along with him...until he mentioned her hair.

"WHAT?!" she squeaked jumping backwards a bit and pulling her pony tail in front of her face. No no no nononono! She gripped the ends of her hair feeling ashamed she had temporarily lost control and was suddenly reminded of Lexi - the older and much wiser lioness who had told her time and time again to stop hiding the fact that she had an ability.

Swallowing and taking a deep breath to contain herself, she looked into Lucas' eyes. "Y-Yes..." as if that wasn't the obvious answer. "I-I inherited it from my father..." She dropped her hands to the side and began thinking about ice and ice cream.

Whoawhoawhoa. Obviously this was a touchy subject. Had he said the wrong thing? "I think it's pretty cool," Lucas said. "I wish I could do that. I've always wanted to be an animagus or metamorphmagus or something of that sort. To be able to turn into an animal or change my appearance whenever I wanted... That would be awesome." Hopefully that would make her feel better? He really did mean it; he'd always wanted abilities like that.

Kurumi bit her bottom lip as the music box continued to play. "I-I hate this ability," she said suddenly after a few moments of silence. It had been the reason she had been bullied as a child. Some of the worst moments had been when a group of students continued to tear at her hair with scissors because it kept growing back. Her mother wouldn't look at her either because of it. "At least...I used to..." She looked back at him. "I can't control it very well...not yet...i-i-it changes with my emotions." She paused and pointed to her eyes. "It's also why my eyes are violet. Father says I was born this way." She supposed it meant the gene was strong in her blood. Funny, because none of her brothers were metamorphagi.

She smiled and took a step closer to Lucas as her hair managed to return back to being black. She had just ruined their dance, hadn't she?

"It's nothing to be ashamed of," Lucas said with a smile. "I still think it's awesome. But maybe you could get someone to help you figure out how to control it if it bothers you so much?" he suggested. He looked more closely at her face. "Oh. Your eyes are violet, aren't they? I hadn't noticed before you said it. They're pretty." He smiled again at her, still trying to make her feel better. He took a look at the music box, which was still playing. "Well, do you think that counts as enough ballroom dancing for one day, or should we try again?" It sounded like the song was dying down just a bit, but they could always wind it up again, so it really could go either way. "... Hey, wait. What emotion does pink and orange mean?" Her hair was like a mood ring!

"Father has been helping me a bit with all this. Father is one. Mother...well...she is non-magical...makes me wear brown colored contacts when I am home," she nodded slowly. "I just wished he would have explained it all to me sooner..." The frown on her face deepened and she looked as though a black raincloud were going to show up over her head at any moment. That is, until Lucas' face suddenly appeared right in front of her's as he examined her eyes. And she blushed again. "T-T-Thank you..." she mumbled as she began tugging on her hair some more. "Y-You have pretty eyes too." Did boys like it when their eyes were called pretty? Kurumi sure hoped they did.

"I guess that is enough dancing for now," she nodded as the music box began to slow and only a few chimes could be heard. It finally came to a stop. "Thank you for dancing with me. S-Sorry that I tripped though..."

Kurumi was pleased that the attention from her hair had moved to the music, until it came right back around and her eyes widened a bit. "I-I am not really sure...the only time my hair has ever turned pink is...is..." she bit her lower lip again and shuffled her feet. "Is when I feel something for another person. I-I can't really explain it well. I am still trying to figure it out." She wasn't really sure what triggered the emotion. Her hair turned pink around certain boys, but never around girls, and even then not around all boys. It was all confusing. Orange was another story though. "Orange always seems to happen when I feel embarrrassed."

She really ought to keep a journal of her hair changing situations. It probably would come in handy.

"Oh," Lucas said, frowning slightly. Kurumi's mother didn't sound very pleasant, but he wouldn't say that, of course. "I bet that's hard." He smiled when Kurumi told him he had pretty eyes. "Well, thanks!" Flattery will get you everywhere.

"That's alright," he said, nodding. "You're welcome. Thanks for dancing with me. I hope it wasn't too traumatizing." He laughed slightly.

"Huh," Lucas said, a bit confused. "Okay. So... You felt 'something' and embarrassment, then?" He tapped his chin. Something? What did that mean?

"It...has been," she nodded. Her three brothers and father had always been there for her, to talk about the changes she was going through - even if they had been telling her not-so-innocent white lies until she had turned 12. But...to have her mother afraid to look her in the eye hadn't done much for her confidence. "Mother is afraid of magic, but I think I already told you that. Father and my brothers won't talk about it. Father especially looks sad whenever I ask..." She looked up and smiled at him. "I guess I feel a little jealous that your family seems so close. Sticking together and you being homeschooled until things calmed down enough for you to come to Hogwarts. If mother had her way, I wouldn't even be here." Sad, but true.

"N-N-Not at all!" she said waving her arms around in front of her face. She picked up the music box and was about to revert it when she thought she would rather not. "If you want, you can keep the music box."

Kurumi blushed and kicked a stone that was near her foot. Yep, Lucas probably was thinking she was insane. She would if she were in his position. "I don't really understand how it all works myself. When I was younger, I carried a can of black spray paint with me to cover up any changes that happened...its only been since I came to Hogwarts that I have been able to actually SEE the changes."

Selina sipped on her water bottle and then sprayed a little on her face. Running for long shots of time always made her perspire. It wasn't her fault, she blamed the glands. Once she was cool she returned to her drink and gagged a little when Connor suggested that they do something. She quickly recovered when he further explained that it was a not a date. But she could not help roll her eyes when he added that they could go with a group of friends, "You mean Kurumi right? Look, I like you and all Connor, but I am not going to be dragged around by you for Kurumi. That is not going to happen. You wanna be friends that's fine. Don't expect me to play matchmaker though." Selina was blunt. She always was and she was no fool.
