"Oh, but Selina? On the subject of Muggle things, I was wondering if maybe, well in two years anyway, if your parents would let me take Driver's Ed? I've always really wanted to be able to, well when I'm old enough and everything." |
Quote:
Then he asked about Driver's education, "Sure, I don't see why not? Although why would you want to drive one of those Muggle death traps when you could just apparate when you get your license or even Floo?" |
Quote:
"I don't know, I mean of course I'd like to be able to apparated and use flop powder and all, but Muggle traditions are something I grew up with, and I don't want to ever lose that, because it's kind of a part of me. When you turn sixteen, you get a car. That's just a big Muggle custom, and it honestly sounds rather fun," he replied earnestly. |
Quote:
Selina nodded, "I'm sure my Dad would be okay with that. Mum is a half-blood so she grew up with cars too. 'Course don't expect me to get in that three ton death trap with you." |
Quote:
At this, Christopher perked up a little. "Do you think..... she could teach me?" he asked, referring to 'she' as her mum. At her next remark he joked, "Aww, come on, Sel! Not even one little car ride? We could go on a road trip!" |
Quote:
"I'm sure Mum would love to teach you. She has wanted an excuse to buy one of those death traps for years. Dad says its a waste of time, but hey who I am to judge what Mum likes to do?" Then he suggested that they take a ride together and Selina started to back away from him, "Oh no, no, no! You keep that car away from me!" |
Quote:
"Really? Oh man, that would be wonderful! I'm glad to give her an excuse to- wait what!? She'd buy me my own car!?!?!" he asked, sure that he heard her wrong. There was no way that Mrs. Skylar would do that, cars were a lot of money. But he soon forgot about it when Selina was so eager to avoid the car. He grinned and said, "Oh no! No, no, no! You are going in at least one car ride with me! I swear I will get you to go with me one time! It'll happen, Sel. Just you wait!" |
Quote:
When he averted the subject back to the car Selina nodded, "Yeah, why are cars expensive? I wouldn't know. We don't have one. And you are out of your cotton picking mind... I am NOT getting in that car with you." |
Quote:
At the mention of car costs, he shrugged shyly. "Kind of, yeah. At least our family couldn't afford a very good one," he said blushing as he thought of their old beat up station wagon. "....Cotton picking mind?" he asked, smirking, though the blush hadn't quite left his face. "Aww, Sel! Come on! It'll be so fun! Plus, I know you'll change your mind once the time comes. I thought you liked going on adventures. Or maybe you just aren't brave enough," he teased her. |
Polyjuiced as Lara Black With a slight spring to her step, She caught her reflection in the mirror as she skipped by, then decided to skip back to look at herself. Looking at herself as a girl was so odd, yet at this point started to feel familiar. There was this general lightness to girls that was starting to feel comfortable, a kind of grace that seemed to be denied most of the male species. She started to twirl in place just so she can watch her skirt swish back and forth. It was purely amusing for her, a kind of reaction that was oddly different back when he was a boy. As she readied herself for another jump-twirl, a curious thing caught her eye.... ... just when did Lara's jaw get so dark? She gasped and peered closer into the mirror. The scruff... it was coming back! She watched the 5 o'clock shadow get more and more visible, as part of her facial structure started to get fuller and more masculine. "Its wearing off already?" she whispered, cupping her hands to her cheeks consciously. She had better get back to the Potions classroom, because the last thing she wanted was to have Salander be seen rushing down corridors in a skirt! |
Quote:
And then he poked fun of her bravery, "I am plenty brave! I'm just not plenty stupid. Going on those kind of "adventures" is suicide." |
Quote:
The more they spoke of it, the more Christopher actually wanted to drive. Especially with his hopefully soon to be sister. "Come on, Sel! I've ridden in those things hundreds of times! Muggles use them just as much as wizards apperate and use Floo! Cars are made for safety, there even about a bazillion laws just for auto safety! Please Selina, you'll never know that you hate it or like it if you never even try!" he said, trying his best to persuade her. |
Yes, it had been another one of those days. A day when the walls felt like they were closing in around her and air ceased to exist... Marilyn was turning into a walking panic attack. She'd tried to break things off with Rafe...but he wouldn't go away. He wouldn't let her forget, so she'd taken to staying in the Slytherin dorms. Seeing Rafe was hard...and he wasn't accepting that she just needed to be away from him. Chancing it, the blonde had decided upon a walk, hoping against everything that she did NOT run into him. Things were weird. She was in a weird place right now...and him pushing her was NOT helping... Sighing, she stepped onto the top of the fourth floor corridor, looking around anxiously. Marilyn didn't sense him near, which had been another weirdness she wasn't prepared to deal with. Deciding that this was as good as it was going to get, she ventured down the dark dreary corridor. Her soul was learning to find solace in these types of places. Maybe that came from spending so much time in them... |
Quote:
At least, that was his plan. But he changed his mind when he spotted a blonde turning along the corridor up ahead. He smirked to himself before holding his bag against himself and running to catch up with her. "You know. You shouldn't walk down such creepy corridors by yourself." he said with a smile. "You may give people the wrong idea." |
Quote:
Suddenly a voice came out of nowhere right next to her ear...and the blonde nearly jumped out of her skin. Wand was in hand before Marilyn even thought it, whirling around to face the guilty party. When she seen it was Carter, however, she relaxed. Smacking him in the shoulder, she smirked. "You trying to cause me to have a heart attack? Announce yourself, Gryffindor." She wiped the back of her hand against her forehead, smiling at his choice of words. "What wrong idea might that be, Phillips? That I'm secretly wanting someone to kidnap and take advantage of me?" |
Quote:
He smiled again when Marilyn lowered her wand and smacked him. "Aw. But that would take the whole fun out of surprising you." he jokingly protested. "How am I supposed to get a little smack like that if you know I'm coming?" He smirked. "Yes." he said with a nod. "You'd be surprised. Any time a girl is alone is the perfect time for a guy to make his move. Walking along abandoned corridors is practically an invitation." He looked around the corridor as if expecting a guy to jump out of the shadows. "So tell me Miss Force. Am I interrupting something? Or am I just the lucky guy that got to you first?" he teased. |
Quote:
"You think you're so clever, huh?" She was rolling her eyes playfully. "You are, indeed, the first to have gotten to me. I suppose it's just your lucky day..." pushing her blonde hair back over her should, she winked at him suggestively. Of course, she couldn't keep the look long because in the next instant she was smiling. "Walk with me?" |
Quote:
He felt his face heat ever so slightly as she winked at him. He couldn't deny that her winking was enough to make any guy go crazy. "Of course." he said with a smile falling into step with her. "Where we heading?" |
Quote:
Out of the corner of her eye, she watched him. It was actually a good thing they'd ran into each other. She desperately wanted to ask how he was doing. The breakup with Caroline had been...abrupt...and while Marilyn was very pleased...She knew he had really liked the other Slytherin girl. |
Quote:
He chuckled after she called him trusting. "Why Marilyn, do I have worry about being kidnapped now?" he asked throwing in a wink. He couldn't help but notice that things weren't at all awkward like the first time they'd run into each other. In fact, it seemed like their relationship had reverted back to how it was when they just met - fun, spontaneous, and, of course, filled with innocent flirting. |
Quote:
The blonde released a soft, wistful sigh. "You ever think about the past, Carter?" |
Quote:
He looked over at her as she asked her next question. Did he think about the past? "What do you mean?" he asked. Was she talking about goblin wars... or... more along the lines of what happened with them? He wasn't about to openly confess that he did wonder what would have happened between them had it not been for Rafe... unless, she wanted to hear that. |
Quote:
She inspected it, trying to figure out whether or not it lead to anywhere. "Think we should explore?" His question was momentarily forgotten. Marilyn had never heard of a mirror on the fourth floor...How long had it been there? This was what happened when you were yanked out of school before being able to have those tiny adventures. She'd missed out on learning all these cool things... ...But she refused to be upset about it. She was with Carter right now and everything was fine. |
Quote:
He too followed her example and inspected it. He pulled the edge of the mirror and was surprised to find that it swung open. He smirked mischievously. "Of course." he said as if it never occurred to him to not explore. He grabbed her hand and pulled out his wand. He whispered a "lumos" and headed in. The air felt a bit stale... which meant it probably didn't go too far... but, it did at least go further than his wand lit. |
