Ariadne's musings were interrupted by a girl her age introducing herself. Ari smiled and thought this was a potential friend. Or at least a housemate, for sure, so it was worth putting her best foot forward.

'Hi, I'm Ariadne Marchbanks, or Ari for short. And you are?' she asked, in turn, smiling. 'I take it you're Scottish, judging by the accent?' Ari added, prompting the girl to speak more. 'You must be close to home then.' she commented, as Hogwarts itself was in Scotland.

He nodded. "Of course." A grin broke his features. "I can't wait to fly." He looked wistfully upwards; ever since he'd found out about Quidditch he'd ached to play it. Just the feeling of the wind rushing through his hair sent shivers down his spine.

Oh. Oh. Oh. No. No. No. Matt swallowed, frowning, before - rather literally - shoving the whole pastie into his mouth, his eyes streaming from the heat. Girl. Girl. Girl. He bit back the urge to spit the pastie out, feeling the hot pastry burning the roof of his mouth. He sniffed; it hurt.

Rosemary smiled, "More or less a pure Scottish Lass!" She commented allowing her full Scottish Brogue to come out, "I'm Rosemary... Rosemary.." She mumbled her last name as she became shy again.

"I wandered off, made a joke about it, and she got mad? I really don't know."

Rose returned from her visit to Ember feeling mischeivious now... 'Yeah, I guess so...' Rose asked curiously. Rose was thinking about what she and Ember's next plan should be! Ah.... Plotting always cheered her up!

"Nah she went there because wanted to see Ember"

Ella laughed. 'Oh well..'


Ella noticed the boys reaction immediantly. Oh hell no.. she wasn't dealing with that. Somebody freaking out because a girl was sitting two seats up from them? Pfft, that was lame..!

She raised her eyebrows, not even trying to hide the fact she was a bit irritated. She blew out. 'Oh well I'm just gonna go see my brothers for a bit.' She narrowed her bright eyes at the boy as he continued to look literally petrified. It made her mad.

'Jesus, try not to choke on your pastie, hun!' She shot at the boy sarcastically Was she really that bad?.. Whatever. First impressions and all that..
Turning on her heel she made her way down the table to find any one of her brothers. 'I'll be back in a bit Jordan..'
Well that was awkward...

Rosemary took a big sigh before reciting her full name. "Rosemary Athena Elizabeth Ann McGonagall..."

'Oh, you're related to Professor McGonagall! My grandma was in school when she was headmaster!' Rose said

Rosemary nodded, "She's my Great Grandmother... Hence why I managed to get a few of my things already..." She blushed.

FIRSTIES WITH ATTITUDE Hugo did not like the tone on which this particular firstie spoke. "Oh, well, maybe I do not approve of you calling my girlfriend such things," Hugo said as he raised his voice. Ah, Hugo was such a love-noob.

"Oh..." Hugo said suddenly dropping his voice. "How's Rex doing?" he asked after a quick subject change.

"Thats what I thought. Haha."

Rose laughed then saw Ember beckoning her over 'Sorry, I'll beback soon!' She wanted to see what plot Ember had come up with. Ember felt like her sister she never had! Probably more like twins than real twins were! Rose laughed out loud.

Ariella leaned across the table to a girl who was sitting there quietly, not talking to anyone. "Hi! I'm Ariella....Ariella Adler. It's great to meet you!"

"The evil twins...."

Rosemary nodded as she watched Rose go.

Rosemary chuckled, "I doubt your full name is as long as mine.." She giggled whilst blushing and nodding her affirmative.

Ella had come back down to Thomas' end of the table, and she burst out laughing at his comment.
'I think she should of been in Gryffindor..' Ella noted.

"According to Ember, they threw a carrot at me? Way to act their age right, eh?" As Jordan said with an extremely disappointed look on his face. He thought it was funny that Rose got mad over a silly joke.

"Yeah anyone who can dye Rose hair ginger is brave"

Ari noticed a boy who seemed to be a first year too sitting at her edge of the table, looking a bit out of place. As she felt like being pleasant for the time being, she approached him and asked sheepishly: 'Anything wrong with the food? Personally, I think it's delicious. You must try the mashed potatoes.' she said encouragingly.

'I'm Ariadne, by the way. What's your name?' she inquired. 'Have you seen our House ghost? I wonder why he's called Nearly Headless Nick. Nearly Headless.' the girl added, sounding a bit like a know-it-all. Then again, she was one.

'Nice to meet you, Rosemary.' Ari replied with a friendly smile plastered on her face. She doubted that the girl's name was just Rosemary, but decided not to push on that.

'Happy to be a Gryffindor?' she attempted at conversation once more. 'I know I am, but I'm not sure about my family, though. They've been in Ravenclaw for generations. 'What about your family?' Ariadne hoped Rose wouldn't mind being asked rather more personal questions.

"Well then, you can call me Christina if you like. It's always just been too... formal for my tastes," Chris said. She looked over at William as he spoke, and couldn't help but get a little sad. It sounded exactly like her first her had been. "Sometimes people just make things difficult. It's not just this term- it happened for me too. No matter how much you try to make friends, people just don't listen to you. Hopfully, the people who are actually worth talking to are the few who do listen." She tucked some of her long, light brown hair behind her ear, looking at her feet. When she said things like that, it was usually when people would just leave and stop talking to her. Maybe she just needed to learn to mind her own business.

Ella giggled, but sort of felt mean. She waved as the Gryffindor ghost drifted past;and he waved back at her.
'I looove the ghosts! I wanna meet the house- elves too!' she exclaimed.

"Isn't our House Ghost Sir Nearly Headless St Nicholas?"
