After a nice apparation trip, and another crack!fartingsound! and pop!, the class found themselves in an alleyway, not far from their destination. Making sure every student that signed their name was still with the class, Maya slowly let go of the hands she was holding and called for everyone's attention.
"We're here." Not that she had said where they were going...because, they'd find out soon enough. "Remember, act appropriately and stick together." She did not want to have to come back for someone after returning to Hogwarts.
"Follow me please." Oh they'd better follow her...
A quick walk around the corner and finally, they arrived inside at the main entrance of this magnificent museum - go ahead, you have a moment to take in your bearings. Maybe you already noticed the larger than life skeleton of a Diplodocus nearby, one of many dinosaurs that roamed this earth many years ago. Or perhaps the grandness of the inside architecture has your attention.
There are quite alot of people in here today, tourists from other countries and the United Kingdom aswell. Curious people, perhaps just like all of you.
Having made sure that all the students were still here, Professor Saylen then proceeded to reach into her bag and take out a bundle of museum pamphlets with a map. She'd taken the liberty to mark where they should meet, incase anyone got lost. Also, she'd written her name, incase anyone still didn't know who she was...or simply forgot. Heh.
"Everyone, take one of these," she had to raise her voice a little to be heard over the other buzzing visitors, "Open them and look at the map. See the encircled figure in the middle? That is where we are now. If anyone gets lost, you come back here and wait." Don't go off buying an icecream at the cafe. "...and I will come get you." Allright?
She let them take another moment to gather themselves, study the map a little, and just... maybe stare at the dinosaur bones.
OOC: Feel free to join in any time, but please fill out the parchment in this thread before you do
Well...Some of the answers were not what Maya was expecting. Apparently the kids misunderstood her question. A few of them sounded like encyclopedias.
"Miss Kurumi...do you think there are twenty to twentyfive thousand Polar Bears in the world? Or is that something you read?"
"That is quite a low number. Hopefully it wont drop to that." So sad.
Maya nodded sadly. "Indeed. Makes you a little anxious to really find out how many."
"I don't know, Miss Skylar. I wouldn't want to be in a position to choose." She left it at that. Moving on, "Not that many, no."
Wait.
What?
"I think there are more than three, Mister Blunt." She...wasn't sure what the boy was talking about next. Uhm."No, Mister Blunt, these animals don't live on the sun."Squint."They live in the Arctic Circle. North Pole. Cold places." Heh.
And again. "Is this what you think? Disregarding what you read in a book - do you believe there are as many as that?"
One more of those pecks and she'd make Salander walk with Groundskeeper Stryker, and Lexi with Professor Magnus.
He. He. He.
"Yes. You assume correctly."
See? Honesty. Like some other students. Hehe. "That is a higher number than Miss Frost guessed...but I think there are a couple more than that." She smiled a little at the young girl before focusing on the next student.
Ten? Oh, horrible thought. "I think there more than that," or, "Hopefully there are more."
She thought? "Perhaps." Simple nodding to her answer. "That is a nice high number, but not enough."
"Yes, indeed they do, Mister Rhodes." And the count? "Could be."
Allright. "Thankyou for your answers. Those were some interesting guesses. There was no right or wrong answer here, I just wanted to know what you thought."
"But, as some of you already mentioned..." Even though she hadn't asked about it. Hehe, picky Maya. "As the world changes, so does the habitat of Polar Bears - and many other creature's home. The impact we have on the world impacts their world."
Maya swallowed as she walked over to stand besides another skeleton. This time, of the Saber-toothed cat. "Pick a number between one to five thousand. How many do you think still run around the world?"
OOC: Bed time for me :>
See ya when I log back on.
looking at the skelton them back to the teacher "Unless you got a new pet back at school we havent seen I am going with the big doghnut, zero ,zilch, nadda" it was cool to be able to cut a little with the teachers
"Oh." Ellie didn't know Masterson, so she couldn't compare, really. "He seems so." Awesome, that is.
Meh. More contemplating. She supposed that if Saylen really was only mean to Treyen...then that really was less nice than if she was mean to everyone. Right?
So Saylen's still bad.
Her eyes studied all the animals. "No, I mean, like, they're not dead? They're fake, right?" Cuz if they had been alive, at any time, it would be very sad. She wouldn't like that at all. And she certainly wouldn't take any pictures.
He was so.
Treyen nodded at Ellie, and a small smile was in his face as he did that. They had the best Groundskeeper ever. Though, he only had one to compare him to, but still.
Seriously, Ellie could never take Saylen's side.
But that'll be easy for her not to do, because the woman was particularly mean to him for no reason at all. He was kind of doing the same, truth be told.
Er, what? Treyen frowned as he pondered on the answer, "I don't know for sure, but some of them could've been alive before," he shrugged, "The dinosaurs were totally fake, though," obviously, except, perhaps, the bones.
SPOILER!!: Saylen

His eyes followed the voice and rested on the woman, widening a bit as they did. He felt the need to poke Ellie, so she could see what he'd been talking about, but since Saylen was watching him, he couldn't venture adding the Ravenclaw into this.
"No, Professor," hehe, 'NO' to what question?
SPOILER!!: Saylen again

But then there was an awesome fake cat and kind of smirked, "I'm gonna go ahead and say 'two', so one of them isn't lonely," haha, well, Saylen wanted him to answer, no? "But I don't think there's a single one running around, unless it's still frozen on ice," OR unless they were counting Museums and such, and even then those were bones, or fossilized cats, right?

W00T! Another score!
And he saw Saylen give them that look. Wha?.... Did she want a peck on the cheek too? All she needed to do was ask heh.
He watched the Professor move to another skeleton beside her, and can only see part of the name plate from where he stood. Sabertooth... How many of them were there in the world? "Uh... just one Professor. Its the same guy that Wolverine had to keep going up against since they both have this gift of self healing."

Lexi smirked as Sal and Saylen praised her. Yippee for calming down and getting something correct. Woot. Then... Really.
Lexi craned her neck to look at Sal who was still behind her... "Innit from a comic you are talking about?" she asked quietly. Yeah. Her dorky older brother read LOADS of comics. LOADS I SAY.
Allright. "Thankyou for your answers. Those were some interesting guesses. There was no right or wrong answer here, I just wanted to know what you thought."

Luin stayed with the group and listened to the questions as the professor asked them. It was quite interesting looking around a this place, Quite interesting indeed. She looked up as the professor asked about the cat, she had never seen anything like it and everyone else seemed to believe it was extinct, but why would the professor ask for a number between one and five thousand?? Hmmm, she really had no idea so she raised her hand, "Umm, perhaps 10 of them? She put her hand down then, her answer sounded quite on compared to everyone else's, oh well.

Why was she hiding behind a sign? "Chocolate. Eat. Calmly." Now. Before you freak out more.
Oooo, chocolate. Accepting the chocolate she blushed. Dinosaurs freaked her out okay! She couldn't help if they freaked her out because a stupid person made a stupid movie that gave her nightmares for weeks,
"Thanks Professor, I'm sorry for the way I freaked out. Dinosaurs just freak me out after I saw a muggle movie with them." She said to the professor.

But at least she wasn't the only one creeped out by the dinosaur. By the look on the other girl's face, it scared her too. Maddie smiled at her and held out a hand. 'Hi, I'm Maddie,' she said 'It's weird, isn't it?' she added, nodding in the direction of the model.
Oooo, a new person to be friends with! "Hey, I'm K-Lee." She shook Maddie's hand, a small smile on her face.
"Yeah it is pretty weird. Dinosaurs have freaked me out since I saw that muggle movie Jurassic Park." Merlin K-Lee hated that film. So scary. She'd had nightmares for days. Noticing the teacher talk, she turned to look at the professor, still standing next to Maddie.

Saber-toothed cat? Wasn't that the awesome tiger cat thingy from that Ice Age muggle movie? Her younger brothers both were obsessed with muggle movies so she had seen them also, the newer and old of them all.
But wasn't it just a saber-toothed tiger in the movie? Were the saber-toothed tigers and saber-toothed cats the same thing?
"Professor, they're extinct aren't they? So it's a trick question?" K-Lee wasn't too sure of it. Maybe the magic world had some but K-Lee had never heard of wizards knowing of the existence of some animals that were extinct in the muggle world, except the dodo.

And he had a thing for using the old detention ways, but never got to use them. At least not while my father was here." Benjamin heard something about mammals. He looked to Jaina, "Hey, aren't Badgers mammals?"
Chad gave the kid the look. "Exactly HOW old do you think I am, Monsieur? Argus Filch has not worked at this castle for a REALLY long time." (OOC: Keep in mind, Filch worked in the school around the 1990's. This current school RP is set in the year 2074). "I never met him.
"And stop trying to change the topic," he added as they reached the polar bear and the group and moved on to sabretooth tiger. Rawr.
"Now, you say that I 'saved your life'. However, you do realize that that would not have been necessary if you had FOLLOWED the rules that you signed to follow and followed my directions when I had explicitly said 'do not follow'?" He gave the kid a stern look to make sure the words sunk in.
He then lowered his voice so that only the young Slytherin could hear him. "Five points from your house for disobeying orders. Now, rejoin the group and BEHAVE. Step out of line again and I will personally take you back to school. Now, go."

Guess who just got back today. Them wild-eyed boys that had been away.
Haven't changed that much to say. But man, I still think them cats are crazy.
They were askin' if you were around. How you was, where you could be found....
"Yes, sir. Sorry sir. I was just curious what he was really like, that's all. I know you're not that old. But sorry that you took it that way." Ben looked at the giant white bear quizzically and asked the groundskeeper, "Sir? What exactly is this animal? Is it related to a yeti? It looks alot like the description of a yeti with the white fur and the tallness. But a yeti is kind of humanoid. I'm glad that you only had us detaned for a short while, instead of sending us back to the castle and getting us both expelled. Thank you, monsuier."
He grabbed Jaina's hand tightly and pulled her close to him. "Is this creature alive? It looks awful hungry. How does it move and feed, and what sound does it make? Do you know?"
So...Maya had somewhat notices the Muggles around them had sort of...dispersed when the group suddenly exclaimed their...excitement over this T. Rex.
There was one dude who stared, and the Mexicana stared back with a mouthing 'what!?'. Psshhh, like he'd never seen freaked out people before? She gave him the stink eye with a raised eyebrow, and finally the old fart walked off.
Yeah, he'd better walk. Hehe.
Maya cringed for the awaited screaming that girl looked like she was about to do, but relaxed when she instead stood by the railing. "Careful now, don't lean over it..." Honestly Maya had no idea what she was going to do, but...it felt comforting to communicate with the kids when they were this excited. Heh.
Okay, now Maya cringed. She had not expected that. And neither did the few muggles around, though it was funny to see their reaction. "It's there to show us how she looked!" She nodded. Or maybe it was a he? "It will not hurt you, Miss Soler. See?" Unless it came alive and devoured the railing.
She watched Arya examining the dinosaur, "Actually, I think this example is alot smaller than an adult size T. Rex." Where had she read that, again? "So...this might be like a teenager, perhaps. Good eye there, Miss Lovegoods."
Her head turned to see the Gryffindor Prefect nearby. Good, prefects would help out if needed, hehe. And now to her question, "Uhm, I think they copied the bones of a T. Rex...and then constructed the outer...shell of it. " Like flesh and stuff. Eh. "And then mounted it onto a mechanism, with electronics and wires. So yes, there probably is alot of steel in that thing." It's like a Dinosaur Terminator. Heh.
More screams. Heh. "Oh!" And something bumping into her? Or was that someone else? "As Miss Collonny asked, this example is moving because it is being told to move. See, there's a mechanism inside, and someone has probably programmed it to move like that." Did that make sense?
Okay, that stillness was making Maya nervous. "Miss Browne, are you allright?" She was hoping the girl would atleast be blinking.
Something behind her spoke, and it wasn't the Groundskeeper...so someone was behind him? Hehe. "No. It's still there." Hehehe. Maya looked at Chad and wondered what he'd say.
"Yes, just like that. Keep breathing." Don't stop. Heh. "Well, we've been standing here for a few minutes now, and it hasn't bitten off a piece of the railing yet. So...I think we're safe." Yes. Exellent.
The young girl's words made the Mexicana smile, though the promise of more field trips was possible, she wasn't sure if she'd be allowed to. "I sure hope so. I'll try and see where else we can go." Totally.
She noticed the young girl, probably one of the more calmer ones at this moment. Or perhaps it was just the shock? Heh. Oh dear, was that girl shocked? "Miss Price, are you allright?"
Initial scare, gone. Good. She slowly took back her hand, hoping she hadn't squashed his arm. But, considering what she now knes, she thought no. "Ah, too bad." She chuckled, stared at the dinosaur as she drank more of her delicious coffeechocolatedream. "Imagine having one of these walking around on the grounds... taking a nap in the stables." Hehehe.
Eh, whatnow? "Little brains?" Did they have little brains? "Researchers say they did. But they had a quite developed one since their sense of smell was pretty extensive. They might even have had the biggest brain of the entire dinosaur population." Just sayin'.
Elle snapped back to reality and turned to face her Professor.
"Oh no, Professor Saylen. No problem here, just amazed at this creature," she smiled.

Unlike most of the people here, she had been raised as a Muggle, so she had been to museums like this before. She'd seen other models of dinosaurs such as this - although, one had to admit, no moving ones.
She pulled out her new, shiny notebook and turned to the first blank page. She looked up at the dinosaur, and began to take some notes in her neat cursive handwriting about its physical appearance and size. She couldn't believe this was only a child-sized T-Rex. A full grown one must be huge!
She smiled across at the other girl and extended a hand. 'Hallo,' she said politely. 'I'm Maddie,' she added with another smile. 'So, this is interesting, isn't it? It certainly beats sitting in the school grounds,' she said, laughing.
Looking up from her notes, Elle turned to look at the friendly girl who stuck out her hand.
So she did the same and shook hands with a firm grip. "Elizabeth Woods, pleasure. Everyone calls me Elle," she returned the smile.
The First Year puffed and replied, "Sure. Imagine these dinosaurs roaming around earth at present times. We could be the oh so powerful witches who could vanquish these evil yet cute beings. Cute cause they babies are so cuddly, but adult, not so much," she giggled at her own joke.
Allright. "Thankyou for your answers. Those were some interesting guesses. There was no right or wrong answer here, I just wanted to know what you thought."

See ya when I log back on.
Did they just have to pick one? Because Cass was pretty sure there were none of those things left. Even if a few of them survived, how in the name of Merlin would they even get around with those huge set of teeth peeking out from their mouth?
But, she had to answer the question so she answered "uh..three?"
As the lesson continued, Isablle wandered around the displays in the room they were in, looking at each of the poor stuffed animals. It was so weird to see them like that, and imagine how alive they once were. But she knew that most would have died a natural death, not merely killed for use in the museum. It was a small crumb of comfort.
She was keeping half an ear on the questions Maya was asking, answering them herself in her head. It was almost like being back at school - shame she was too old to be an actual part of the lesson. Then her attention was taken by Ben Trevors talking with Chad. Hmm. Half of her wanted to smile at the thought of the man being an age to know the notorious Filch. The other half felt somewhat insulted for him. She kept her thoughts to herself, however, as he had the matter in hand - instead she moved closer to the other kids and gazed at the skeleton of the Sabertooth Tiger.
How ever many there were, this one certainly didn't look very healthy.
"Mister Lockhart, is this class boring you?" Like, "Want to take a guess where Polar Bears live?" Hm?

That was not nice at all. Ellie'd only answered one question so far and she hadn't gotten called out on. She wanted to laugh at the...meanness of it, but decided against it.
The vow of silence was officially back on.
HMPH.
Well, towards Saylen.
Ooo. She really liked Treyen's answer. Hopefully there'd be at least two. Lonely fanged cats would be saddd. "But if it was frozen, it wouldn't be running around." Just sayin'.

Another wave of optimism. "Oh?"
Okay, enough of this. "Good to hear your guesses. Some of you guessed right - these are indeed extinct." Such a total shame. Bummer. Blah. "These cats died out a very long time ago, about seven million years." Sheesh, such a long time.
But if they wanted to see the whole museum today, or atleast the fun parts of it, they needed to move along some more. "Let's move out again. We have lots to see." LOTS.
Almost charging out from the creepy stuffed animals gallery, the Mexicana headed towards the Blue Whale, Marine & Reptile section.
