The moment you enter the classroom, you realize that the interior is.... huge. Twice the size it usually is, no doubt. There are no chairs, though there is an assortment of cushions - soft and squishy, not-so-soft and not-so-squishy, take your pick - on the floor.
Professor Markovic opens the door so that the students can file in, and then stands to a side, the usual small-but-warm smile playing around her lips.
OOC Index:
Class has officially started. If you missed the beginning, don't RP your character arriving late - pretend that [s]he was there all along.
Hunter...? Hmmm. "Um, could it maybe be black for stealth? I would say red for blood except that's been taken... Or maybe even green - for freedom - like hunting in the forest or in grass..." she groaned - too many options!

Meep!
Pfft, Cookie girl. Glancing over to the younger girl, Evelyn stared for a moment before a small smile actually replaced the frown on her lips before looking to the rune that appeared in front of her. However, it did turn all sneaky like and mischievous so who knows what that could have meant.
Poking each rune, her thoughts turned to what could represent the rune of a hunter. These were some, rather plane names for runes. Hunters were...bleh. She had no clue. They hunted stuff. They were...earthy people right? Play around in the woods... Brown was already said though sooo. "How about orange? Why? Because the color reminded her of Huffies and well, they had a badger for a mascot. Didn't badgers like, play in dirt and stuff?
Hmmm, the hunter? Mia chewed on her lip for a moment before raising her hand, "I think the rune color for the hunter is green bordering more on the darker side of green rather than light green."
She wasn't positive that it was the right answer but she figured hunters were connected to the earth and to her the earth element said 'green.'
Oooooh! More shinny things to look at! Oh right, another question. Hmmm...wasn't there a color called hunter green? She could have sworn her brothers had been arguing once over whether a t-shirt was forest green or hunter green. Kurumi never did learn what the difference was.
"Green? Hunters are often in forests...and those are green...with trees," she said adding on the last bit to make it sound a little more educated.

"You all have some valid points, but no right guesses this time round," Di said, though she smiled all the same. "Even though Miss Frost came pretty close to the correct answer. The Rune of the Hunter is better known as the Gray Wolf."
Once again, a rune came to rest in front of each student. "Personally, this is my favourite rune of the lot," Di said, as she held one up. The reason? The light that lit up the rune was a breathtakingly marvellous silver. "Why do you think the Rune of the Hunter is associated to the Gray Wolf?"
Hopefully, the students did know about the common gray wolf.
Mia knew a little about gray wolves but she was not sure why it was associated with the Rune of the Hunter but she raised her hand. "Gray wolves tend to hunt in packs, they live in nuclear families consisting of a mated pair followed by biological offspring. They are extremely territorial and they usually live in places where there is an abundance of prey." She paused for a moment while thinking about it. "Perhaps the rune is associated with the gray wolf because the similarities between human traits and the gray wolf are very close to one another."

"They are the best hunters?" she asked naively. Better put some more thought into this one. "There is a story in Japan that when the end of the world comes, Paradise will appear only wolves will know how to find it. The story also tells of a people who can change into wolves and the leader of this group is able to turn into a grey wolf..." There was a connection, even if it was a little bit of a stretch. "So, the grey wolf is the best at hunting or searching for paradise, or whatever it is seeking."

The Slytherin lad stared at the various colored runes assembled before him. He was as fascinated over the engravings as much as the color symbolisms. "The gray wolves are known to be at the very top of their food chain. They're the top hunters, one of the few animals that arent food for another animal."

Freya raised her eyebrows. The associated between the Rune of Hunter and the Gray Wolf? She raised her hand "Isn't that because Wolves were generally revered by tribes that survived by hunting, Professor?" she asked. "I had had read a book about some tribes in the native America respected the wolf's hunting skill and tried to emulate the wolf in order to hunt successfully. So maybe that's why The Rune of the Hunter is Gray Wolf." she said and lowering her hand.
Patroclus had so far been rather silent, he was not very quick today.
The dive roll, must had jostled his brain! But now it was time to speak up! "Professor, this maybe a stretch, but with large Primates for example Gorillas those with Silver or Gray markings are usual classified as the leaders. And in tribes those that are the Hunters are also usually the Leaders, as they are the ones that make the decisions, deciding when to move when the prey moves." Gorillas....wolves.....same thing! NOT!
"I would think it's because the alpha male whom in superstition turns into wolf leads the pack. And some students have mentioned that in monkeys the silver back gorrilla leads the pack so it makes sense for it to be so with werewolves as well. Which means it's only natural for the quilute tribe to have high respect for the grey wolf to be it's symbol for the great hunter rune.", Chloe said with her high in the air.

Hmmmmph. Just look at that Kurumi girl. What was with this Gryffie firstie getting all the answers correct? Sure she had been adorable asking for help in Transfiguration... but that didn't mean she got to be cute in all the other classes! Professors were going to start giving her points and basing their lessons around the too-smart-for-an-eleven-year-old-oh-look-at-me-I'm-so-tiny firstie!!! NOT FAIR!
Fletcher wrinkled his nose but kept his thoughts to himself, choosing instead to play with the colorful runes on his desk. He lined them up like dominoes and then raised his hand to chance another HOPEFULLY correct guess at the question.
"Wolf like meat. Wolf eat meat. Wolf hunt meat. Animal have meat. Human are animal. Human have meat. Wolf hunt human. Wolf eat human. Human respect wolf hunt."
Why did that.... come out sounding so caveman-ish....? Fletcher shook his hair and elaborated on his answer. "Er... I mean... like everybody said, wolves have to hunt to survive so... they're hunters.... and they have gray fur because they used to have brown fur when they were younger but as they got older their fur grayed. Just like yo--- I mean, just like old human peoples' heads."
Yeah this professor didn't have any gray hair that Fletcher could see, but that didn't mean she wouldn't have a few strands by the end of this lesson. Snickerrrrr.

"In most cases the grey wolf is the leader of the pack. They are to be known for there wisdom and knowledge. In a hunting situation they would be the ones who would make the decisions"She said. She was intrested but she kept thinking the last time they were handed runes. Please no more mazes.
"Because grey wolves just like in Japanese mythology were portrayed as almost god-like and Ancient Greeks associated wolves with the sun god Apollo. So these wolves are like the alpha's. Also they are known to have more success in hunting alone rather than in a pack and they make their own choices." she said as she lowered her hand.

"That's not exactly it, but good thinking, Miss Gibbins," Di said. "Take a point for your house."

Gorillas? Di... resisted the urge to smile. No, not at the answer, at the fact that Mr. Hudson had managed to pull gorillas into this!
"One answer is as good as another," she smiled brightly. "Take a point for your house."

Not the right answer, but one that had some thought put into it, all the same. Di gave the girl a little nod. "Not exactly, Miss Merets, but take a point for your house."

Blank Rune? Like a blank slate? Did that mean it was white? Was it possible for a run to be clear? Or maybe it was black because in nothingness there is everything...or something like that. Clearly, she was over thinking this and her brain was going to be fry. Or...maybe it was along the lines of black, meaning that it embodied everything?
"Professor, is this blank rune perhaps like the blank tile in muggle game Scrabble? It is the tile that you can use for any letter of the alphabet."
She paused for a moment.
"So...maybe it means adaptability and change?" They were shape shifters after all. "Like...maybe it is the rune of the shape shifters?"

A blank rune? What could possibly be the use in a rune that was blank? Hm. It was probably either white or black - those were the first two colors Vashti tended to think of when something was blank. But what could it mean? Hmmmm...
Finally, she raised her hand. "The Blank Rune could be white, like a blank page or like...dull, blank, whiteness, like everything would be if there weren't other colors and all that," she said a little uncertainly. Kind of a weird comparison, that last bit, now that she thought about it. She probably should've just stuck with the blank page one. Ah well. Moving on. "And it's meaning...maybe it could mean a beginning, or starting from nothing, kind of like the legend about how the tribe was created. They were wolves once, not people, but then their creator came and turned those wolves into people, so, in a way, they started their tribe from nothing and it grew into what it is today. So maybe the Blank Rune kind of symbolizes that and reminds them of their origins and how they began." Or how they believed they began, depending on how one viewed it and whether it was entirely true or not.

Taking down each rune one by one, and observing each detail, Evelyn glanced over when something about a Blank rune was mentioned. Why in the world were there blank runes anyways? Did they just happen to run out of ideas of runes and decided to just pick a meaning for the last rune? Which happened to be blank obviously. Made perfect sense in her mind at least.
Holding the glowish runes, creating a weird little rainbow like thing in her hands, the Slytherin looked back up to the ceiling, trying to think of the reason for this oh so mysterious blank rune.
Cookie girl’s answer echoed in her mind, though it wasn’t what she was thinking of for the meaning of the rune. "Since, it’s a ‘blank’ rune an all…perhaps the color is white?" she asked, her head tilting to the side so she could actually glance towards the Professor without straining her eyes. However, a moment later she went back to leaning against her cushion, and staring at the ceiling. "And it could mean something about them in general? I mean, they’ve all been about them, but I mean something on the inside. Like their inner strength or just the entire focus of who they are as a whole? In other words, the rune could represent them, and all of them combined as one. Not necessarily their origins like someone had mentioned..." Whoever that was. "But...yea. Kinda like a family rune."

The Slytherin lad was drawing a -- well blank. What does a wolf-centric tribe want with a blank rune? If it was blank then there were no nifty engravings of wolves on that rune now would there? And that would look like-- well nothing. It would be empty. Totally clear.
Hmm.
Salander raised his hand and replied "Maybe the rune doesnt have any colors, it would be clear because y'know its-- blank, its empty. And when the wolves see something thats empty, it means... they got no food and they hafta hunt? Otherwise their tummys are gonna be as empty as that blank rune. And thats a threat to their survival. Which can be the same for the tribe-- its a rune that tells them they have to do something or they face a bleak future." he was so grasping at straws here.

That…sounded so much better in her mind.
... and there came another correct answer. Di nodded brightly at the Slytherin girl though, when she spoke, she spoke to all the students gathered in the classroom.
"The Blank Rune is just that... a blank. Colourless." The last rune appeared in front of each student as Di spoke, a hard, transparent nugget that sparkled like a diamond. "It represents - for lack of a better phrase - everything Quileute. The tribe; its beliefs, spirituality and customs; their purpose, history and trades; and the other runes. It's the 'lucky stone' in a sense, and it links all the runes, causing their energies to multiply and flow more fluidly... and of course, it does the most marvellous things in actual light."
She held up the rune, showing how its illumination was the illumination in the room: all sorts of colours, soft and many and pretty, radiating from the rune in gentle waves.
Collecting all five of the runes that had appeared in front of her, Di made them disappear, before addressing the class again. "We're going to recreate a Quileute battle, today," she said cheerfully. "This is the battleground." This meaning the classroom. "Your weapons are -" Fliiick of the wand, and a pile of fat pillows and cushions appeared in a corner of the room. "- Over there." The pillows and cushions? YUS. "Each of you has five Quileute runes, so make the most of them. Stick them to a pillow, wear them round your neck, braid them in your hair, the choice is yours."
"The cushions you're seated on are going to disappear, once you get up. You have about -" She glanced at her watch - "Let's see, ten minutes to pick up whatever number of pillows you think you can handle and incorporate the runes. There's an endless supply of pillows -" Near enough, that is -"So you can pick up more, later on. Sooo... once I give the go-ahead, the battle is on."
So saying, Di got up. Her cushion disappeared as could be expected, but she appeared not to notice. The Runes Professor skipped over to the pillow!cushion!pile and strapped a small, round cushion to her head. What? She had to make sure she stayed safe!
OOC: You may RP your characters getting pillows!etc. and using the runes, but the pillow fight doesn't start until Di says so. This is part of the Runes final, and a minimum of seven creative posts = fifteen individual points. Extra credit is available for awesome RP'ing.

Di's lips quirked up into an amused smell. "Empty tummies?" She asked, clearly finding the response humorous. "I don't know how empty tummies fit into the equation, Mr. Salander, but take two points for Slytherin for landing the correct colour... no colour."
... and there came another correct answer.

Kurumi's gaze flew towards cookie hater and a nervous smile crept across her face. She was going to need to keep that protection rune...and maybe about 100 more of them.
She put all the runes into her robe's pocket for the moment and made a mad dash towards the pillows and grabbed as many as her short arms could carry - she even had one in her mouth. Why waste a perfectly good carrying method? Returning to her spot, she tossed all her pillows on the ground and took out her runes again. She was definitely going to need that protection one. She took the blue rune and stuck it to her headband and put it back on her head but instead of using it to hold her hair back, she let it sit on her forehead to that the blue gem was dead center and only slightly covered by her bangs.
Hmmmm...what next. That hunter rune seemed like something that would be helpful. Since she was right handed, she stuck the wand to her hand and charmed some bandages to keep the silver rune in place. She then took the red rune and did the same to her other hand. She looked at the craftsman's rune and wasn't sure how to use that one just yet, so she put it back into her pocket. She still had the blank rune, the rune that was everything that the tribe represented. That was probably something that should be kept close to the heart, so she wore that one like a necklace.
There, now little Rune Warrior Kurumi was ready for battle...ish...
She took a pillow and hugged it close to her chest.

Evelyn couldn’t help but think that, this was totally her favorite rune now. Yes, it was because of the colors, but just look at it! It was rather pretty. No one could know that though. Pfft. As far as anyone can tell, in her opinion, she didn’t like rainbow stuff. So there.
Picking up the blank rune, the Slytherin held it up to the light, staring at all the colors with a serene smile dancing across her lips, threatening to turn into something actually happy before her ears picked up the words 'battle' and 'weapons'. Of course, everything else in between, but those two really stood out. Perhaps Professor Marko-polo was a cousin of Professor Lainey- Eh!? Her cushion was going to disappear once she got off!?
But she didn' wan' it to disappear! Grr!
It was Cookie Girl’s fault. Why? Because it just was. Sighing loudly, the Slytherin flipped herself over on the cushion, laying on her stomach, and scooted herself over to the pillows with her feet. She wanted the comfy-ness of her comfy comfy-ness as long as she comfortably could. Stacking up on pillows until her legs and eyes were pretty much the only visible thing, Evelyn STARED at Cookie Girl as she scooted herself back to where she previously had sat. She was GOING DOWN!
Now, what to do with the runes? Grumbling, she flung the pillows off herself before sitting up and pulling the runes out from the sleeve of her Slytherin sweater. Right, soooo...obviously they could use magic for this part right? Conjuring a rope, since that was pretty much the only thing she could really conjure without it going wrong, the Slytherin used it to tie a pillow to her front. That's what was going to keep the runes safe. Into the pillow they went! Except the Blank Rune. That one was tucked neatly and safely in the rope, squished against the pillow.
Daisy took down the last of her notes. A pillow, cushion fight was about to get started and she wasn't going to be unprotected and left without a pillow or cushion. She looked at the runes she had and decided you could never go wrong with a quick braid. One by one they were placed into her hair and she felt as if something felt right about it. The long french braid completed and resting on her right shoulder she ran after the pillows and grabbed as many as she could, about six, and then got ready for what was to be the most EPIC pillow fight she'd ever encountered.

Rene got up and noticed the very comfy cushion had disappeared as told it would. She marched over to the pile of pilllows and grabbed a few. Conjuring some rope she tied them to her head, two around her torso front and back and two around each knee.
She stood there and wondered where she would stick her runes. The Protection and Blank rune she would braid into a rope and wear around her neck.
Two down three more to go. The next she put the battle rune on a rope and stuck it in the front pillow around her torso.
The Hunting rune she stuffed in the pillow on her head and Latly the Craftsman rune she stuffed in the pillow on her left knee.
She thought she had a good plan dont keep the runes together then she could keep them safe.
Pillow fights? Oh this is going to be fuuuuuuuunnnnn. Freya got up from her comfy seat and started to collect as much pillows she could carry. She grabbed the runes and wore them around her neck. Okay now she is ready for the battle. Bring It On..!!!

Pillow fights....
Iris was pretty sure that this was not going to be an acurate reinactment of this battle.
The prefect listened to the teacher talk, getting a bit confused at places. In all honesty, she'd gotten a bit confused with all the runes. GAH.
She stood up, and waved goodbye to her pillow, then skipped over to the giiiant pile of pillows, and picked up some that she liked the luck of.
There was a huge green square one, a polka dot one, and a couple of smaller ones with rainbow coloured tassles on. There, they'd suffice for now. Noooow, to find a corner to sit down in and sort out her five runes. Where'd she put them? Surely, if she were to put them ON the pillows, then she'd lose the runes at some point. It'd probably be better to put them ON her somehow.
