Maya straightened up in her seat, carefully regarding every student that had decided to attend the class. Students...

Good day. Maya nodded. What was HER name?

Uh oh. This boy looked like he was itching to do something. Pun intended. With a sideways look, she soon turned her attention to the next student.

"Good day to you too." No-name boy.

Maya simply gave the young girl a nod.

Ah, Maya remembered that girl. "Good Day, Miss Lovegoods." A nod and "I'm good, thankyou." Take a seat child.... Squint.

Okay, another student who didn't greet. Fine. Smirk.

Hmm...Maya would have to get their names. It was quite disrespectful the way they didn't greet. Uh-huh.

"Hello Kurumi." She nodded again at the girl's comment. But it seemed they were going to start chatting? Oh, Maya hoped not.

"Good day to you."

Maya's eyes wandered over to the students who were taking their seats, seemed alot of them didn't know how to say 'hello'. Pffft. Seeing the little girl's wave, the Mexicana raised her own...stiffly.

Whoa! Excitement there, childe. Maya turned her head to look at the boy with one eye, like a bird. "Hello there." He'd better calm down soon.

Smiling slightly, Maya took a deep breath, "Good day, Mister Lockhart!" Oh yeah, she saw him.

Yes yes, hello to you, silent childe.

See? That wasn't so hard - to speak, that is.

"We will just wait a couple of minutes more before starting the class." Yes yes. "Has everyone brought their protective gear?" She hadn't asked them too. But it was fun to see their reaction - if there were any.

Melanie approached the wooden benches, a bit of a bounce in her step. She liked outdoor lessons... especially when the weather was so nice. The girl eyed the new professor curiously, not noticing the vivariums next to her quite yet. She didn't want to look rude, just staring at her, so Melanie gave the professor a little wave, before turning to take a seat.

She flopped down on a bench beside Treyen, to wait for the lesson to begin.

Melanie riffled through her bag a little in search of said protective gear. That meant gloves, right? Cause' she had gloves.

Why did they need protective gear anyway? She didn't see anything dangerous...

Sapphinelle took a deep breath and looked natural and calm.

Sammy nodded her head excitedly, weeeeeeh. She was excited, but she knew if she started talking she wouldn't shut up, so for the safety of the class, she would remain silent. She had pasta yesterday ... it was taking effect... during class. oh this will be fun

"P-p-p-protective gear?" Kurumi stammered looking back at the mysterious containers. She was really glad that she had sent Walnut back to the Gryffindor common room now. Her eyes grew big, but it wasn't all because of fear. There was definitely some excitement in her gaze as she leaned forwards hoping that somehow she would be able to see what lay hidden.

Okay. So she wasn't bubbly Lawson. That STILL did not mean she was like Lafay. Maybe she was more Hadley, with less smile? Scratcing his head thoughtfully, Ty watched as Professor... er, what was her name again? . . . Well, as THE professor greeted and eyed the people that kept on coming.

Ooh, she was starting to speak. But WAAAIIIT. She didn't say what her name wa- O_O Ty's eyes widened. He didn't have his gear! He never got a notice!! Frantically, Ty ripped open his bag and searched in it because MAYBE his things had somehow fallen in this morning. He didn't want to be in Professor... the professor's black book ALREADY.

Meep. What to do? Should he say something? Should he not?! ACK. "Er.. Professor, we... um, there was no notice or anything that, erm, we needed to bring protective gear. . . In, er, Ravenclaw," he stammered, careful not to actually ACCUSE her of anything. Merlin forbid that.

Ah, see? That's why one wasn't supposed to go wander off into some Professor's Hut. They end up with assignments before class, and they get to know your name.

Mmmhmm. "Day, Professor Saylen" he said, but he didn't say 'Good day'. Ha. Just a single nod as he spoke, and then his eyes widened slightly.

Protective gear? "What protective gear?" he inquired, not even bothering on raising the hand, because the class hasn't started yet. This woman will kill them, surely. That's what the protective gear was for.

Oh, my! Lookit!

'Tis Silent Lockhart! And being silent. Haha.

Treyen smiled up at her (because she was too tall now) and then narrowed his eyes towards the Professor, maybe Melanie will understand the uneasiness of the boy with this class. Or with the Professor, to be more precise.

How? How Could He Have Taken Such A Long Nap?!?! Jacob Sprinted down towards the Care of Magical Creatures Class Area. It was this kind of times that he wished using brooms on school grounds would be allowed. That way Jacob wouldn't be late to class.

Reaching the semi-circle of logs, he stopped and started panting. Breath. Breath. Wait was he late? "Safe!" he said completely out of breath. "Hello... Professor." he panted, not able to say both words with out heavy breathing in between.

Jacob sat down, and tried to catch his breath... Protective Gear? "Uhm... No." he said still out of breath, geez it was taking sometime to get himself back together. And the fact that he forgot protective gear wasn't helping. Almost late and still forgot protective gear.

"Hello, Professor!" she said cheerily, ready to be at the top of her game today.
"Protective gear? I wasn't informed." she said with a puzzled look. She knew they weren't supposed to bring protective gear yet.

Ever's eyes widened as she searched for the so-called protective equipment. She thought back to Diagon Alley, and didn't recall buying any protective anything...it wasn't on the list...was it?

"I'm not sure if I have my protective gear, Professor..." Ever-Lily said sheepishly. She embraced herself for the detention she was surely to get now.

Yes, it was time for Care of Magical Creatures. Marie had been looking forward to this class. She just hoped the new professor was going to be as nice as Professor Lady Lawson was.

Seeing Evelyn sitting in the back Marie went and sat next to her. "Hey Evelyn, what do you think are in those tank looking things up there?" she said pointing towards where the professor was sitting. The professor who didn't look as nice as Lady Lawson.

Crud, now she was missing the Lawson's again.

Protective gear? Did she mean like... dragonhide gloves? Check mark, Kellen never came to this class without them. Not since the OWLs and the firecrabs. He slid onto the log beside Arya, giving her a 'what's up?' nudge with his shoulder as he did so.

She talked to me! Even if it was just two words. Huzzah!

Salander was grinning from ear to ear when he felt someone sit by him, He turned his gaze from the exotic beauty.... to rest his eyes on another.

"Hey Mia!" he greeted back, the same happy-happy grin still plastered on his face. "Life is GREAT!" he replied quickly. Because life is great when you're sitting where Salander sat, having a good view of the COMC Professor, Mia, and just closeby-- Evelyn, Melanie and.... is that Sapphie?

Yes he likes his views. Heh.


He turned to the Professor on her question, and although he raised his brows slightly, still had the same ridiculous grin on his face "Protective gears? What for?" Because as far as Salander thought, COMC= petting zoo.

She turned to see-SALANDER!
She hadn't seen him in FOREVER!
She gasped and instantly had a huge smile.
"Salanderrr!" she said in a happy whisper to him.

Viky walked out into the COMC area happily. She could just TELL this was going to be one of her favourite classes. She loved all animals... well, with the possible exception of spiders. 'Morning, Proffessor' she said with a smile 'I'm Viktoriya Johannsen' she added, eyeing the seat next to Simon. Yeah, she was totally going to sit there.

Iris walked into the CoMC area of the grounds. Care of Magical Creatures used to be one of her favourite subjects... but now? Now, Iris couldn't really care. It seemed like too much effort to look after animals and such when she had SO MUCH homework piling up.

But even so, it was a lesson that she wanted to do well in. Looking at the professor, Iris smiled. "G'morning Prof-" She stopped dead in her tracks.

IT WAS THE PROFESSOR! The woman who from near the Age Line... The teacher that told Jimbo off and kinda saved him at the same time!!!!!

Realising that she was staring, Iris gained her posture again. "...Professor."

Gah. Embarrassment... Giving the Professor a polite smile, she turned away from her and went to find somewhere to sit.

Letting out a little giggle, Mia bumped her shoulder with Sal. Oh she knew why he was smiling. His eyes were nearly bugging out of his head as he looked at the Professor. "Glad you're enjoying the view." She remarked softly and then turned her attention back to the Professor.

Er...

Mia's eyes widened a little and then she had an internal panic attack. She hadn't brought any protective gear with her. Was she supposed to? Admittedly Mia, hadn't read the notice board properly which wasn't unusual for her.

"Um... that would be a no for me."

Glancing around to see if anyone she knew-knew arrived, Wesley's head snapped back to face the teacher at the sound of her voice.

A couple more minutes. Wesley twisted her fingers together anxiously. Waiting. Waiting. WaitingWHAT!?

Jaw going slack and brown eyes popping noticeably, the Hufflepuff pulled her schoolbag into her lap, digging through the neatly organized papers and textbooks. Gloves. Gloves. GLOVES. Letting out a little moan, Wesley dug further, lowering her head as if stuffing it inside the bag would make the gear any easier to find. WHERE WERE THEY?!

They weren't- her neatly clipped nails scrapped against the fabric bottom, finding nothing -there! They weren't there because there had been a break after potions, so she'd returned to her dormitory and deposited them on her nightstand. Wesley squeezed her eyes shut, pursing her lips in concentration. She'd double-checked the board before leaving. And it had said something along the lines of COMC lesson...bring notes...read rules...but not - Wesley squinted harder, trying to visualize the notice - it definitely had not mentioned safety gear.

She nodded to herself, positive. So then, the professor, she must have assumed the students would have brought their gear along or...this was A POP QUIZ.

Wesley let out a little gasp, imagining her mother receiving the letter - with only one thing written on it. A big T. For Troll.

Oh no! No, no, no, no, no, no, no!

"Professor," the Hufflepuff squeaked, urgently waving her arm in the air and joining the ruckus of other to-be-Trolls, "I forgot - is it - too late? Can I get it if I run real fast?!!!"

Oh please, dear Merlin, say yes!

Walking up and giving the professor a nod and a small wave he moves to get a good view looking in his bag he pulls out his dragon hide gloves and his steel toed boots that was all he had with him but it would have to do

Riley practically dragged himself across the Grounds with his brown leather jacket and light blue jeans under his school robes, for it was starting to get chilly outside. When he woke up this morning he did not plan on going to Care of Magical Creatures, he didn't want to because to be honest he was scared of most creatures, therefore he didnt want to learn how to take care of them.

He took a seat along with the rest of the class and looked at who the professor was. It was the same one that threatened him for laughing at that one idiot boy who got in trouble at the Age line. "Morning Professor." he said with a bright grin, she wasn't mad at him still, surely. *smirk*

Seeing more students arrive, Maya merely nodded at everyone that greeted her.

Merlin's tortilla! Were all the kids in this school so...anxious? Sigh.
She hadn't told them to bring any protective gear, but... "It is expected that you all bring your protective gloves to this class - who knows what kind of creature could go wild and needs a firm handling. You do have that, do you not?" Oh, she knew they should!

Anywho... "It is time to start." And anyone who came after was late. Late! "I am the new Care of Magical Creatures Professor. Maya Saylen is my name." Do not abuse it. Smirk. "When you answer questions in this class, you raise your hand before answering," Obvio. "And please, one time only, state your name and house before you answer aswell." Yes yes.



Maya re-tied her high sturdy boots and stood up - quickly scanning the faces of the kiddos. And let the pacing begin. "What...does the word 'Creature' mean to you?" Squintiiiiing.

Kellen raised his hand, "Kellen Stern, Ravenclaw, professor. To me, a Creature is anything living, apart from humans and plants." And, if he were, oh, say, a centaur, he would probably say anything living apart from plants and centaurs. Or maybe they thought plants were creatures too. Who knew?

Savannah tilted her head to the side, listening to the new professor speak. This lady meant business, in all honesty she kind of scared Savvy. She was strict, Savannah could just tell by the tone in her voice. Savvy twirled a strand of long curly hair around her finger, shortly before raising her hand.

Answering questions never hurt,right? RIGHT.

"Uhmmm...yeah...Savannah Conrad, Slytherin..."Savvy said, her hand still up."Creature to me means anything that once had a breath of this earth, either it be living or dead."Sounded good, right? Right. The blonde put her hand down, waiting for a response back. See, this was one of the rare classes where she actually some what understood what was going on. She felt smart in this class.

Riley had to hold his tongue to speak what he really thought of when he heard the word creature, he was pretty sure someone who devoted her entire life to the beasts would not take kindly to the words vermin or pests.

Raising his hand Riley spoke. "Riley Sinclair, Gryffindor 5th year. And Professor Saylen, a creature is an animal that roams wild in the environment." he nodded. He didn't feel as if Goblins (shiver) or House elves counted since they weren't in the forests or wild, they were more like...beings?

Viky went over to sit next to her boyfriend Simon. Hehe... her boyfriend. She wasn't used to saying that, it sounded odd on her tongue. She opened her bag and began to search for gloves as the Proffessor spoke about them, hoping she'd actually remembered the stupid things. She'd had them in potions... yep, there they were, right at the bottom.

She pulled them out and raised her hand to answer the Proffessor's question 'Viktoriya Johannsen, Gryffindor house' she began, as instructed 'To me, the word creature means... well, an animal. Preferably a cute, cuddly one, but an animal of some sort. And it means... something living' she said, not sure if that was the kind of answer the woman wanted, or if she wanted an actual defintion.
