Seriously, she didn't know if she understood this stuff, or was confused. She was confused if she was confused or not! That's confusing!
Sighing, she flipped the page of her notebook and wrote down the little list on the board before, writing the other list down on what they were supposed to be using for their item that they brought.
Quote:
What is the item: Silver Snake Bracelet
Size: Thin, an inch around?
Shape: Round with a coiling tail
Texture: Inside is smooth. On the outside, rough from engravings.
Color: Silver
Weight: Heavier than it looks, but still very light.
Defining markings: Around the outside there are engravings to make it look like snake scales including the eyes and face of the snake.
Well, there we go. Her bracelet. Picking up the bracelet, she examined it closer, looking at the details. It was definitely cooler when looking at it like an inch away from your face.

Marilyn frowned, removing her locket to properly detail it. After Rafe had returned it to her, she'd refused to take it off...Although, before she gave it to him, she'd never taken it off. Either way, it was the most important thing she owned...
Quote:
What is the item: My grandmere's locket. Size: Fits easily into the palm of my hand Shape: The actual locket is heart-shaped. Texture: Smooth and polished, raised where jewels are located. Colour: Polished silver with small white diamond accents Weight: 8 to 9 ounces Defining markings: My grandmother's name "Lydia" engraved into the back.
Just looking down at the piece of jewelry made Marilyn sad. It brought back those painful memories of Rafe leaving for the first time for Romania...Luckily, he'd returned home to her safely...and she'd began traveling with him to see his family. His father was a lovely man...
Hearing the professor saying something, the blonde sighed.
Elementary, indeed.

Iris listened to the professor talk, and she made a few notes here and there where she saw fit. Taking out another sheet of parchment, she copied down what he'd put on the board and picked up her bracelet, examining it properly. Taking her quill, she filled in the information:
Quote:
What is the item: Beady bracelet
Size: Uh... Normal sized for a bracelet; Beads vary in size.
Shape: Beads are round.
Texture: Smooth-ish... a little bit worn down.
Color: Rainbow coloured slightly shiny, because the beads are glass.
Weight: Not very heavy...
Defining markings: Different pictures on each bead, to do with her name; such as rainbows, flowers, and her initials, etc ...
When Iris had written the information out, she put her quill down and waited for the next instruction.

Arya had tried to pay attention, really she did. But they were talking about theories and laws, stuff that bored her to no end. Not to mention that she wasn't that good at transfiguration, atleast not as good as she was in charms. So she was doing what she always did when bored in class and couldn't look out the window, she was doodling magical creatures on her parchement(along with a few muggle ones) around her notes.
When they finally had an assignment that didn't bore her, she wrote down the things she needed to on the clean side of her notes.
Quote:
What is the item: Pink Sun Glasses
Size: A little bigger than my hand and too big for my face
Shape: Frame is big and round, almost almond shaped
Texture: Smooth except were the rhinestones are.
Color: Really Pink
Weight: Surprisingly lighter than they look
Defining markings: Covered in rhinestones

She'll make an effort and un-pocketed a button that fell off her shirt earlier that morning and placed it in front of her, on the desk.

What is the item: School Shirt Button
Size: 0.5 cm
Shape: Circular
Texture: Plastic
Color: Pearl White
Weight: I don't know. Fairly light, featherly light.
Defining markings: Slightly Silvery Marbelish.
There she wrote her item's composition and sat back looking at the Professor for further instructions. Will she get to use her wand? That would be delightful!
Sky scribbled down the info on her card. Item: Silver Charm Bracelet Size: About the circumference of my wrist Shape: Flimsy; circular Texture: Woven Color: Silver and black Weight: Aproxamitley 1.257 oz Defining: Silver charm
Writing down the information the Professor told them to, Lysandra wrote
Quote:
Name: Lysandra Malfoy
House and Year: Slytherin; first
What personal item you brought: silver ring
Then after that, she listened to other students give answers on the Five Laws of Exceptions.
Writing down some notes on Gamps Law, Lysandra heard the Professor say to get out a piece of parchment and write this down.
Quote:
What is the item: A silver ring
Size: about 3/4 long
Shape: round
Texture: smooth, with a vine with silver leaves
Color: Silver
Weight: looks heavy but is pretty light
Defining markings: leaves on a vine with three small diamonds on two of them
Preston walked among the desks, taking note of the students as they wrote down the properties of their items. "Good, good." He nodded, pleased at how descriptive they were.
"Those of you who are still writing, you'll have more time, but I could use everyone's attention." Preston reached into the box, extracting a child's dog toy. Placing it on the desk, he unholstered his wand.
"We're going to learn two spells today. Or, rather, we'll learn another use for a spell that returning students already know, and then a new spell. But the first is important so that you can fix any mistakes you make."
"Untransfiguration reverts a transfigured item back to its previous form. Last term, students learned the Reverto, pronounced re-VER-toe, would revert an item to a previous natural state - like a butterfly to a caterpillar. The SAME incantation, with a slightly different emphasis, will undo a transfiguration. Like so."
Preston tapped the toy, transfiguring it into a vase, decorated with the images of little dogs. "Pronounce the incantation, re-ver-TOE, with a light flourish of your wand, concentration on the form you want the item to return to."
"Reverto!" Preston flourished his wand, and the vase shrunk back down and into a child's toy.
"Now, it's much easier to revert something you transfigured in the first place, so we're going to give you some practice reverting things you didn't. That is why I've asked you to bring a personal item. I will be transfiguring your items into something else. I want you to take note of the new properties of the item. Even without knowing what spell I used, you should be able to think about what kind of changes occurred. Take careful notes of those properties and then picture in your mind the item changing back, focusing on each specific property. Concentrate on that image."
Preston picked up the box again, just in case some wanted to change their item. "I don't expect the younger students to be successful immediately. The strength of the original spell has a lot to do with how easy untransfiguration is. Keep at it. Don't be surprised if you get it part of the way but not entirely. Older students, fifth year and above, this should be easier for you, so I would like you to try the spell nonverbally. The concentration for that, coupled with the concentration should provide more of a challenge."
Preston tucked the box under his arm. "I'm going to come around and transfigure your items once you are done with your initial notes. If you would like to pick a new item because your item is too personal or valuable, please do."
ooc: I will let you know what your item has been changed into, but I leave the details to you. It's ok (and expected) that your character may have trouble with the spell, especially if they are younger. Points are awarded for participation/effort, not necessarily success.

Hmmm... Lysandra thought. She didn't have anything else to use. She went to scratch the back of her neck and felt the chain that held her ring so that she wouldn't loose it. Oh, here is something Professor. I forgot that I had it. she laughed. You can transform this she said taking the ring off of the desk and replacing it with the silver chain.

Selena looked at the pillow. mmm. She wanted to use the pillow to sleep on. It seemed a lot better than the scarf. Maybe she should just keep it as a pillow... Selena shook her head and looked at the pillow. She gave a light flourish of her wand and thought about her green and silver scarf. "Re-ver-toe," Selena said as she waited for the pillow to turn into the scarf. It didn't work.
Selena sighed and closed her eyes. 'IT's a knite green and silver scarf, a hole is hidden somewhere around the middle and there's a brown stain at the bottom,' Selena thought. "Revertoe," Selena said. Oh gosh. It looked ridiculous now. The green and silver striped pillow had turned into a scarf... with a pillow on one end and the pillow had stains on it. Ew. She wanted the pillow to nap on!

Iris listened to the professor talk, and she quickly scribbled down anything she'd need. Like the spell, and the pronounciation. Remembering that the pronounciation was different would be very important.
As the professor went around changing everyone's items. As he got to her, she watched as the rainbow beads were replaced for a plain pewter clock. Wow. Colourless, much?
Practicing the spell in her head as the professor went around transforming everone elses objects, too, She read through what she'd written, to focus on what her bracelet looked like to begin with.
Any questions? Iris wasn't sure if 'can we start now?' was a good question to ask.. So she just went back to practicing the spell under her breath before attempting to turn the clock back into the bracelet..... "Reverto... Re-ver-TOE... reverto..."
Cadence gave the Professor her attention as he asked, writing down the incantation and pronunciation. She had been practicing this spell over the summer with her mom, but this would be nice review. As the Professor approached her desk, she looked at him with a curious expression. What did he mean leave? And in the next second, she looked at her desk, and immediately jumped from her seat grabbing her wand off the desk. There was a black and yellow snake uncoiling itself on her desk. Oh this was not good. This was SO way more than just review. Point her wand at it, she stammered, "R-Reverto!" but the spell didn't work, did nothing more than send sparks flying at the beast.
And now the snake was angry. It hissed madly and slithered off her desk onto the floor with a thud, and then it took off down the rows. Wow it moved fast for something without legs!
Cadence chased after it, wand still trained on it's slithering body, and shouted, "Immobulus!" causing the snake to stop moving. Looking at the silly thing, she reached down and picked it up, moving it back over to her desk and setting it down. With a flourish of her wand she said, "Reverto!" and the snake turned back into her harmless little bracelet.
And with that, Cadence plopped back down into her chair, looking up at the Professor as if to ask what next.

What is the item: Broken Quille
Size: about eight inches
Shape: its a feather
Texture: hard shaft with soft broken fluffy things
Color: dirty and blue
Weight: light
Defining markings: it's snapped at the tip and had black stains on it
Ehgad took out his wand and waited for the Professor to change his broken quill.
He would start practicing "revertoe" on his new transfigured item.
Ehgad's stomach grumbled as he thought about the cupcakes the other kid had. The urge to steal was strong. He would have if he didn't have to concentrate on the spell. ::

Marilyn sighed, looking up into the eyes of the professor. She was impressed that he'd taken the notion to offer up a different item. But she was sure her grandmother's locket could be returned to its original state...and shook her head in a disagreeing manner.
"No, sir. You may transfigure my locket."

He crinkled his nose then went back to writing down the details of his item.

Preston rested the box on her desk. "There's a chance you won't be able to change it back right away. There's a whole bunch of random stuff in this box that you can pick from, if you'd like." Preston didn't much like the idea of folks taking things off themselves. Obviously, if they wore it, it was important.

Preston watched the slytherin have difficulty with her item. It was to be expected, of course. "It's alright, keep trying," he said, encouragingly. "It might help to think about the new properties of the item and then think about the difference between the two. Then, you can focus on things like 'getting softer' or 'stretching out' instead of just picturing the old item."

Oh! JEEZ! Sneak up on her why don't he! frowning, since now she had to calm her racing heart beat down, the Slytherin placed the snake bracelet down on the desk and turned back to looking up at the professor that was standing NEXT to her. "Sorry."
"Quite alright. I'm glad to see you examining your item so diligently." Once she placed it down, he gave the bracelet a tap, transforming it into a jumprope.

"Reverto... Re-ver-TOE... reverto..."
Preston walked by, smiling. "Good good. It sounds like you have the pronunciation right. Give it a go when you think you're ready."

Oh dear. Preston stepped out of the way as the girl immobilized the snake before turning it back into her bracelet. "Quick thinking, Miss Ballard, however... I would like you to try the spell nonverbally, as well. I'm sorry if the snake gave you a fright. Would you like me to change it to something else, this time?"

Making his way over to the corner, Preston tapped the broken quill, transfiguring it into a drumstick.

Preston nodded. "Very well, Miss Force." With a tap, the locket had become a small statue.

"Excellent choice of item, Mister Greenwood," Preston offered with a smile. "Remember, based on your age, I would like you to try this spell nonverbally, first." Tapping the frisbee, which continued to wheeze unpleasantly, it was transfigured into a bat.
"Do not be alarmed. It will not fly and will not bite, I assure you."

"Remember," Professor Kingsley addressed the whole class. "Take note of the specific properties of your new item as well. When you visualize, you should imagine those properties shifting back to your original item."

Alex glanced at her now dinner plate, a fairly nice one she decided. She picked up her wand and with a smooth flourish entoned, "Reverto!" thinking of changing the silver dinner plate into her diamond pedant. It shimmered as if it wanted to before staying a plate. She sighed trying again focusing on what her necklace looked like before the change, "Reverto." she tried again. Alex breathed deeply at the lack of reaction. "Reverto." she casted again flourishing her cherrywillow wand, excellent for defense and transfiguration, thinking of it making the change from dinner plate to her pendant. Alex patted herself on the back mentally. YES! she chanted mentally it changed back! She of course used her wand to make sure holding it to eye level. She smiled it worked!

Bouncy ball. OK, she prefered that to the pendant...
'Revertoe!' said Maddie, tapping the ball. Hmmm - it almost worked. It was now a white gold chain with a pearl sized bouncy ball on the end. Close.

She didn't like all this concentrating, though. But she remembered exactly what the hairtie looked like. Well, duh, of course she did.
She pictured it shrinking, the pendant going away, turning back to black as it did so, one solid stand. "ReverTO!" she said, wand in hand, making sure to emphasize the right syllable...
And nothing happened... Cool... not.
"Professor, can you show me the wand movement again? Just to be sure..." Of course, she didn't expect it to change, really. But just to be safe, she wanted to make sure she was doing it right.
Thats ok, I just wear it so I don't have to wear the ring on my finger, so if I can't turn it back right away, I can always wear my ring on my finger. The chain isn't that important, Professor, so I don't mind. It's not real so she trailed off. Ok, I'll take something from the box if you don't want to transform the chain. She reached into the box and pulled out a broken ink bottle and placed it on the desk.
