Attention caught the Kappa bowed back... juuuust a little bow. Not enough to spill precious head water.
"This one will allow questions." The Kappa answered. "This one once was from Japan but this one had lake in France and had lake in this place. This place is Scotland. This one knows."
Ahhhh. Something they could 'bond' over, then. A slight smile lingering on his lips, Raiden may have appeared to relax slightly, but... well he wasn't stupid. He knew this game.
"Did you like it there, in Japan?" he asked quietly, biting the corner of his lip. "I lived there for a little bit too... were there other Kappas near you? Did you get along with them?"

Truebridge nodded in the direction of the Slytherin prefect, who he knew was quite able to take care of that. "It was good, Trixie. You and Jake and Miranda are doing well." No doubt about that. He was pleased with the three of them.
"I'm going to continue with the lesson." Truebridge informed the class, his wand still ready. "What is the ministry rating of a Kappa and why is it rated at that value?"

However, the young man wasn't so focused on the Kappa that he didn't hear his own name, especially coming from the professor. The prefect glanced at Truebridge, eyes trailing to the girl before he gave her a small smile and nodded. With a slight flick of his wrist, his wand popped out of the holster and, shoving the cucumber half into his pocket, held out his free hand for her hand.
"Lemme see it," he said softly. Absently, he added in the professor's direction, "Quadruple X, sir. For its... charming ability to lead people off and lull them into a false sense of security before killing them."
Starring at the rather friendly looking Kappa, as it walked through the class, accepting Cucumbers from everyone.
Patroclus waited till he was close enough, and held his inscribed cucumber out, "Excuse me, your Kappa-ness, how many cucumber's does it take to fill you up, or can you eat forever?!"
Waiting for his cucumber to be taken, Patroclus turned to Professor Truebridge, "Sir the Kappa has a XXXX rating, due to their occainsonal human attacks."
However this one seemed to be quite tame....well for now....

The Kappa looked offended, its rim of hair bristling up. But that one was a bigger one. There were easier ones in this room.
Uhhhrrr...why did the Kappa look so...different now? And its hair...was moving. Cool. Hehe.
Miranda took on a slight worried frown, but decided to just keep her eyes on the creature while the others went socialising with it. She felt it was partially her responsibility as one of the older students, to make sure things went allright

She heard Truebridges' encouragement, but didn't keep her eyes from the Kappa.
Ah, a question. "Sir," Eyes on the creature, her left hand went into the air, "The Ministry has rated it with FOUR X's because one should not try and handle a Kappa on your own or unnacompanied. The rating also has to do with the knowledge of the creature wanting to hurt humans."
"Thanks," Daisy smiled as he helped her. "I wasn't looking forward to this as my first encounter with a magical creature."
Leaning down slightly, Raiden examined the scratch, turning the girl's hand carefully. Wasn't too bad... with a flick of his wand, he cleaned it up, the little bit of Kappa slime-ish stuff that had stuck to her siphoning away, before he conjured a bandage and stuck it over the scratch.
"It happens... at least it's only a little scratch," he said encouragingly, looking at the girl before turning his eyes back to the bandage and frowning. "Er. Just in case..." he flicked his wand at it and cast nonverbally. "There. Now it won't get wet or anything. In case you get splashed."

Daisy nodded. "Thanks. I owe you."
She smiled and turned back to the kappa. "Kappa you want another cucumber." She picked up the one she laid on the floor and offered it to it barely holding on to the end to avoid another scratch.

Daisy pulled her hand and looked at it. "It's okay Kappa. It's just a scratch. I heal very easy." She grabbed another cucumber with her name on it. "Here have another one. As a sign of apologie accepted. I know you didn't mean to hurt me. You're just hungry." She smiled and offered the cucumber with her better hand.
Daisy looked at her professor and whispered, "I will be okay, right professor?"
"I am always hungry." The Kappa agreed and was calm again. It ate the cucumber.

"Do you know how to arrange the pieces?" She asked, as she placed one on the shogi-ban. "Or maybe you would like more cucumbers?"
Most likely.
"I'm a Kappa." said the Kappa. "I know. I would like more cucumbers if you please." It wouldnt attack this one. It had eaten named cucumbers. But more cucumbers would be good.

With slightly wide black eyes, the Slytherin almost took a step away from the Kappa, however, she paused herself and stood quite still. Clearing her throat, she let a small smile play across her face. Cucumber. The cucumber! Give it to him! Or...her...
Holding the cucumber out, since her mind was nooooot processing the fact that she should probably let it go and let it drop in front of it, instead, she thought of the next obvious question to ask. "Is there any particular name that you like to be called? I would hate to call you something that you would not be pleased with."
"A man called me slimeball. That was not nice. I have other name." But the Kappa, knowing the power of names, would not give that up. "I like to be called Kappa."
Polite human.

Gold smiled. "I'll call you Kappa, then," she said. "Do you like nicknames?" She could come up with one, for... Kappa.
Yes. Kappa. Because the Kappa's name was Kappa.
Well, so he said. Though Gold had her doubts.
"Go on, arrange them, then," Gold said, tones almost encouraging, as she set another piece on the shogi-ban. "Which side do you want?" she asked, as she conjured up a few more cucumbers for... Kappa.
Giving the girl a smile, Raiden shrugged one shoulder.
"You're welcome. Be careful, okay?" With that slight warning, he turned his attention back to the Kappa.

...Kappas had horses? Raiden resisted the urge to wrinkle his nose in confusion at that; maybe it was just jerking his chain or something. Maybe it meant Kelpies? Surely those had managed to make their presence noticeable worldwide as well.
Slipping his wand back into the holster, he removed the cucumber from his pocket and turned it in his hand, fingers tracing over his own name chunked into the side.
"Do you eat cucumbers often, then?" he asked with a smile, hoping that the answer was yes. Because... well the other alternatives... eh. "Did you make friends with other Kappas at all? The ones that weren't trying to steal your waters, I mean... and you have horses? What kind of horses?"
It probably killed them. Sigh. Raiden wasn't really that up on horse knowledge, but still... murdered by a Kappa was nasty, no matter what you were.
"Yes. Don't forget that the Kappa is dangerous, no matter how it might try to convince you otherwise." Truebridge answered. "XXXX is right."
Truebridge looked around.
"Keeping in mind the nature of conjured food, I'm sure if you think about it you will see why the cucumbers aren't filling the Kappa up." No nutritional value. Likely most of them disappeared right from the Kappa's body.
"Kappa do not eat to survive. a Kappa is a dark creature. What are the characteristics of dark creatures?"

Someone called him/her a slimeball? Well, that wasn't nice at all. Perhaps they could say that in their mind, but really...this Kappa was nice-ish. Only certain people deserved to be called slimeballs. Like Rex....
"Oh that is definitely not nice at all. I've been called a slimeball once too." Mmhmm, and look where that got that Gryffindork dog. Pffft. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you...Kappa." That made nooo indication if it was a girl or boy. Aaand, she was done 'trying'. The sharp teeth, and the hair, and the general way she was feeling a bit creeped out by it was enough for her.
*queue the drop of the cucumber* Might as well leave it there. She sure wasn't going to use it for anything. Unless it was to mess with Destiny.
Smiling at the Kappa, Evelyn slowly moved away before going back to her desk. Others could distract it.

Hearing the next question however, Evelyn couldn't help but think it was almost like deja vu. Didn't he ask that before? In a different lesson? Or was that someone else that asked that....
"A dark creature is something that harms something or someone for no particular reason. Just because it can I suppose." she said after raising her hand. "I think that most all dark creatures are magical in one way or another too. They are just....evil." Evil things. Sometimes cute and awesome, but still evil.
"Kappa do not eat to survive. a Kappa is a dark creature. What are the characteristics of dark creatures?"
Daisy raised her hand going off of a thought to an answer for the question,"Well Kappa's are dark creatures then a dark creature would have to be cunning. They would have to be able to understand the item they are subject to targeting and understand what their weakness is." She nodded."The would also have to be very intellegent which would go along with the muggle saying 'don't judge a book by its cover'. In this case it would be 'don't judge the creature by it's actions' and the Kappas are really dark then this Kappa is a very cunning and intelligent creature indeed."

Patroclus couldn't help but smile, the Kappa was really polite and kinda cute in a funny-looking kinda way!
"Well more than two cucumbers would fill this one up," Patroclus replied, finiding himself to be speaking in the way of the Kappa, "and I am glad you liked my Cucumber, would you care for another?!"
Patroclus traced in the air the enlongated oval, and with clear diction spoke the incantation, "Curcubita Intaglio" and a perfect 'Patroclus' cucumber appeared!
"Sir, if there was a horde of Kappa coming at you, could you use Engorgio on your cucumber so to feed all the Kappa's or would they like one each?"
The boy listened to the Professor's new question and tack an answer onto the end of his question, "Sir a Dark Creature, is one that finds pleasure in the harming of others, their actions all stem from an evil undercurrent, rather that a need for food or survival."

"Kappa do not eat to survive. a Kappa is a dark creature. What are the characteristics of dark creatures?"
Gold raised a hand. "Evil intent, evil outcome," she said simply. "They're often an extension of dark experimentation or intentions, and don't have a complete life cycle. In other words, they might not reproduce the way a normal creature would."
"The most conspicuous point is that they aim to maim or hurt. It isn't a way to get food or sustain themselves. They actively seek to harm and cause damage to people and things, without a cause. "

"Kappa do not eat to survive. a Kappa is a dark creature. What are the characteristics of dark creatures?"
Alex shrugged before raising her hand, "Generally, Dark Creatures are cunning some Dark Creatures tend to have.. a taste for human blood or blood in general.." Alex hesistantly stated suddering slightly, she was not getting close to the Kappa, "However Dark Creatures doesn't always mean evil." Alex added glancing at Evelyn for that, were Werewolves evil?.. well some yes but not all!
Dianna smiled at the Kappa before curtsying and returning her attention to the Professor.
"Dark creatures are those who are dangerous and those who may harm and hurt us. They can be described as evil. Although it depends on how you react to them I mean just like the kappa, if you're polite it won't really harm you.." she said as she lowered her hand.
Daisy nodded. "I understand." She smiled. Where to begin. "Kappa, if I asked you any questions would you get mad at me?" She already had another cucumber in her hand.
Nibble. "This one would not - for more cucumbers."

Kappa really did not like. It let out a loud, noxious bit of gas that filled the room with almost visible fumes.
This one might have smirked again.

Daisy nodded. "Okay for every question I'll give you three cucumbers." She pulled out three. The struggle was how to form the question polietly. "Why do you call yourself 'This One' if it's alright to ask?" She handed it the three cucumbers each with her name elegantly engraved on the side.

"Of course it isn't," Gold agreed. "I asked if you like nicknames. My name is Gold, but some of my friends call me Goldilocks," she added, by way of explanation. To, you know, clarify.
Eh?
"Um, which is the winning side?" Gold asked, looking down at the shogi-ban. Both chances had an equal side of being that, in her opinion. But Kappa apparently thought otherwise.
Dianna faced the Kappa once more. How could she have forgotten?
"I'm so sorry." she said as she gave one cucumber to the Kappa.
This was the only cucmber that she had gotten write with her name on it and not 'Anna' or 'Annie'.
Xylon edged towards the un-caged kappa. Cucurbita....... Tossing the cucumber towards the kappa, he said
"I have a question." He tossed another cucumbers towards the creature. "Why won't you tell anyone your gender?" Really. Look at all those students trying to be sneaky and get the kappa to suffer a slip of the tongue and declare his gender. He could make all those kids happy.
But instead he (yes he) was showing them all an attitude.
So much for the kappa's politeness.

Mina watched closely all that was going on around her. No one seemed to be in great danger and it wasn't like any professor would willingly put them all in danger on purpose or anything.
But keeping in mind what Truebridge was saying and what she remembered of dark creatures, she proceeded with care toward the kappa.
Giving a small curtsey, she levitated one of her cucumbers with her name on it over. "Kappa, I would like to you offer you this," she smiled as she set the cucumber down before kappa. "I have always wondered about where Kappas come from. It is Japan, correct? Never been but could you tell me about it?"
"Kappa will eat often." Kappa would eat now if this one had stingy boy's cucumber. "This one has friend." It might have looked vaguely towards one of the nice cucumber-giving ones. "Tasty ones." Horses. Tasty.
Kappa really did not like. It let out a loud, noxious bit of gas that filled the room with almost visible fumes.
This one might have smirked again.
Raiden was deliberately withholding the cucumber. He really couldn't explain why, except for the fact that he wanted to see... well, exactly how much of the faerie tale was true. If it would get more agitated and less polite after a while. Even though he knew this creature was not good to mess with... he couldn't help but mess with it, just a little.
So he held onto the cucumber, thumb rubbing absently over the carved letters, while his face was carefully arranged to appear as if he wasn't slightly tense or worried.
"Tasty horses...?" He'd been right, then. Ew.
...double ew. The kappa let out a raging, nasty smell, and Raiden wrinkled his nose. Under pretense of itching his cheek, he waved a bit at the air near his face, hoping in futility that it would clear some of the nastiness.
"You had friends, then? Did you have little baby Kappas?"
